Torres to be top scorer in the the premiership this season. Especialy once old porcelin percy takes a knock!

Luke

Believable8 Unbelievable2

No way it is gonna be RVP again if he dont get a injury or maybe Tevez/aguero. Torres is never gonna be good enough for a 1st striker Chelsea standard again. Trust me im very sorry to admit that but he wil never be good enough, he does work for the team alot. But a strikers job is to get the ball past the goal line and he needs 2-4 very very good chances to get a goal which is far to much. Good strikers like most top teams have would have scored 3 goals atleast maybe 2 on a off-day against norvich with the chances he got and he only scored 1!. I really do not know how he lost the amazing spark he had in him, hes unsecure, dont like being on the ball, rather do alot of work for the team instead of being the person to shoot on the goal it seems to me as an excuess. I know there is alot of people who says get off his back and give him time etc, but if they cant see it by now theyre blind. He is never gonna be the same player as he was this is 'Torres 2012' and the best he is gonna be. I am quite sure they give him until january and if not its a new contract or bye bye.

Agree4 Disagree6

Pretty sure man u played Sunderland and van persie never scored

Agree3 Disagree0

Torres is a better player now then he used to be, unfortunately his all round improvement has come at the expense of his finishing ability. As long as he carries on working hard for the team i feel he will always be welcome at the club. If we get Falcao or whoever else i think if anything it will improve his game as he is very good at getting that final pass to whoever. We would then need to change to a one man pivot to accommodate them both which would not be ideal for every game. But he cant play every game and him and the other striker could rotate in some games.

Oscar

Agree4 Disagree0

Torres is getting in those goal scoring positions, thats the main thing. Rvp doesnt get many assits and Torres has 5 already this season.( i think). We have got goals throughout the team. I also dont understand why if we buy falcao, torres has to leave? Man u have two big name strikers and city have 4. Why cant we have 2?

Luke

Agree4 Disagree0

Yes but Torres earn 5 times what those strikers in ManU do, he either needs to sign a new contract to lower the amount he earns or get him off the pay books. He is far to expensive to have as a 2nd choise if Falcao come. Also if Falcao comes he wil be our 1st striker and Torres a benchie again no doubt about that.
That is why he either gotta go or sign a new contract Luke.

Agree0 Disagree1

Torres earns less than Rooney and rvp...

Agree3 Disagree0

If Robbie wants to play with two strikers then fine but Torres simply will not go back to being second choice and I could see athletico taking him back.

Tk

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree that Torres wont want to be second striker, however, football in this day and age is about the squad. Like I said previosly, we could do with 2 world class strikers, but I am happy to just have Torres if nobody else is available. Falcao at 60m at the age of 27 is a bit much. But I do agree that he is the best about at the moment. Whoever said that Torres earned 5 times more than the other strikers I mentioned? Know your football. Rooney sulked at Man U and threatend to leave unless he was put on something like 200k per week. The reason we didnt go for aguaro is because he wanted 170k per week net. I think Torrrs earns 150k per week gross? So that aint the issue!

Luke

Agree0 Disagree0

What makes me laugh is falcao is 27, if we sign him next summer for 50 million hell be nearly 28 might only get 2 seasons out of him with a 5 year contract. rather wait and see what younger talent is about.

Agree1 Disagree0

We all know Torres is by far an inferior striker to both Van Persie, and Falcao.

Agree0 Disagree2

Van Persie had 1 good season and will disappear for both club and country at times, with Torres all around play now i wouldn't say he's far off Van Persie. Falcoa is another matter {Ed061's Note - If you are going to post a lot mate you should leave a name so people know who's making all these excellent points :-)}

Agree0 Disagree0

If Radamel Falcao were to join Chelsea in January, would that mean Torres would leave, or would we see a partnership between the two, i hope Torres doesn't leave, because he is just gaining form

Believable1 Unbelievable4

Most likely gonna leave i think. He is earning way too much to be a 2nd choise striker.

Seeing as ManC is intrested in Falcao we just need him even more, if worst case scenario is and they get him we wil be screwed. I know they wil never play as a team together cause of all the enormus Ego's, but last time we faced Falcao he made a hatrick. imagine if he was playing for city, he would get so many points home for em and execute us evertime we faced him :(
He's already scored 11 goals this season, Torres is on 5? if we do get him and start playing Romeu we WIL win next seasons PL if not this too.

Goals and Assists this season:

Ivanovic - G:3 - A:1
Cahill - G:3
Luiz - G:1
Ash - G:1 - A:2
Bertrand - G:2
Romeu - G:1
Ramires - G:1 - A:1
Lampard - G:3 - A:2
Hazard - G:2 - A:7
Oscar - G:2 - A:2
Mata - G:4 - A:6
Sturridge - A:1
Piazon - A:1
Moses - G:1 - A:1
Torres - G:6 - A:5

Take from it what you will.

I think its a sign that we don't just rely on one person to score our goals or make our assists. Which should hopefully mean they don't dry up, as if one person has a bad game then we have enough behind them to still create and score goals.

I havent got the stats for the other top teams like City, Arsenal or Utd, but if anybody does then it would be interesting to compare them too.

OsgoodIsKing

Believable1 Unbelievable0

Torres has been involved/scored most of the goals this season. Great record I think. We have an excellent squad.

Eden Hazard------Oscar------Juan MataORArjen Robben------Joe Cole------Damien Duff

Which one?
the first 3some control the ball very well and can find the most incisive of passes

the second 3some played one of the fastest counter-attacking football

i take the second one purely because i prefer counter-attacking football to the tiki-taka

taby {Ed061's Note - What a question! I'd take the second two because all three use too get me off my chair. Joe Cole in his hayday, what a player! And I still don't think there has been a better wing combo of Duff and Robben this century. I'll be glad to see the other three take top spot soon enough though!}

Believable2 Unbelievable1

Would rather take the first three, i think they will prove as time goes on that individually they are three of the best 'No10s' of there generation, and collectively they will show that they are one of the most potent attacking units in the game.

Plus the second three are raelly injury prone...

Agree3 Disagree1

The first three down the line will certainly become unreal but the second one could break on anyone. Very good question but I go with the first based on the seconds injury history.

Tk

Best wing combo this century!!!!??? what about ronaldo and nani, ronaldo and di maria, messi and iniesta?? And in a year, the new trio will rapeee, they already are!

Best wing combo this century - Suso and Sterling ;-)

Personally, I think the Mazacar trio are currently the best attackers in the Prem League, and they've only had about a month to gel! Incredible!

totally agree mate and oscar and hazard are still getting used to the league so will only get better

i noticed oscar sometimes thinks he has more time on the ball than he does have but deffinately in a few months they will be incredible

Anyone need to have their mood lifted head on over to arsenal page. They will raise 50m extra a year from shirt sales, have the best midfield in Europe and Falcao could be on his way. Haha quality! Also great post by Osgood on Liverpool about Romans ownership and what its like to be a fan of a club with such a terrifically supportive owner.

Melbourne CFC

Believable2 Unbelievable1

Ha, apparently Pools do not want a rich owner and will not be happy as they have a very big fan base.According to Ed001(who is a Pool fan) rich owners are for small clubs with a few fans.
According to replies to the Osgood post they are the next Barca,Arsenal, ,Dortmund and are apparently a self sustaining club.
I mean what a load of crap(hypocrites). If they did not want their owners to spend big why were they crying out their owners to buy players this season !Why the did they spend 100 mill on Caroll,Downing etc!
I will take my "small club" over the "big club" any day.

liverpool fans are delusional

in my opinion chelsea and arsenal are probably the best two teams in the league so far this year

Agree5 Disagree0

How is barca a self-sustaining club?

ibrahimovic, sanchez, fabregas, villa???

taby

Agree3 Disagree0

When playing against Real on Sunday Barca fielded a starting eleven which contained 8 players that had come through their academy. They finished the game with 9 players who had come from their academy.

Find me another 'top' club in the world who can get anywhere near that.

Also, none of the players you mentioned started the game. Zlatan for obvious reasons.

IB.

Agree1 Disagree0

I apologise, Fabregas did start. But was also a product of their youth academy, just one they let loose for a while.

IB.

Agree1 Disagree0

Yeah I'm not sure anyone can argue with barcelonas system. They're gonna replace xavi and iniesta with fabregas and likely alcantra. They most likely have extra spots for non homegrown players because so few exist.

Tk

Agree1 Disagree0

Dortmund are the closest thing to barca with their homegrown players.

Jordan

Agree2 Disagree0

All i meant was that barca spend enough money every summer on new players to not be called a self-sustaining club

who cares if they bench them or whatevr

personally, i think there are 4-5 dutch clubs who have better academies than the barca's.

masia has just come to the fore...clubs like ajax, psv etc have been producing world-class talent for 30-40 years.
i mean ajax sell their captain almost every year for goodness sake

taby

but your not really making a point because they only ever buy one maybe two players every year if that

I find it quite amusing that the guardian thinks that one of the top ten things we learnt this weekend from the prem was that JT and Ash aren't fit to ever wear Chelsea shirt again. I also was a little amused that prior to the weekends football we were not mentioned in their top the things to look out for. Instead arsenal were mentioned twice, along with all 19 other teams. It isn't the first week I've noticed this.

Generally this actually p*ss me off a little, but generally when the media kicks us repeatedly we either are in a position where a managers job is close to an end or we win the league. You decide which is more likely at the minute.

Anyway to the recent game against Norwich. I am in awe of some of the football we have been playing. Oscar, Mata and Hazard are absolutely bossing games. The look on defenders faces when all three decide to play keepings off is one of bewilderment. The passes Juan picks out on a week to week basis are absolute class and the link up play between the three maestros and fernando looks great.

Torres is looking a lot better, but still isn't where we need him to be. He is timid in front of goal and would rather try the impossible shot then a one on one with the keeper, although his work rate has been tremendous for us this year and his ability to get the ball off the defender has set up at least 3 goals for us this season.

Ramires finally has convinced RDM to play him in the middle. A lot of people think RDM is tactically lacking, I personally believe rami was only being played out wide until the three lads gelled a little more. He now knows lampard, Mikel don't work together and luckily it hasn't cost us in the league. We do NOT need fellani. I have seen an enormous amount of Romeu play and the kid is the next alonso. Breaks up play, drops back when Luiz gets bored and can pass the ass off a donkey.

Luiz as I have always said will be one of the best in the world one day, Romeu will make him look a lot better. I personally feel he is best paired with Cahill who doesn't allow him to just run forward like JT might. We need one of JT or Frank on the pitch at all times. If you don't realise what they offer in leadership then open your eyes. Terry keeps us so well organised at the back and is constantly yapping at everyone. If he isn't in the team Frank takes responsibility. Ash has been one of our best players this year IMO. Ivanovic just keeps papering over those cracks with goals or assists doesn't he. When we heard he didnt want to play solely RB he wasn't lying was he. He actually thinks he plays RW. The way he will gallop forward only for us to lose the ball and just jog back is not good enough, it will cost us.

Sorry for the rant been a while, comments and opinions as always welcome.

Melbourne CFC {Ed061's Note -

Believable3 Unbelievable1

Melbourne after all that time to gatehr your thoughts this rant confused me a little.

1st there is no good explanation for RDM playing Ramires at rw when every fan and Stevie Wonder could see he was not comfortable there. If RDM was not comfortable with a new boy he had options before the the window closed for ex. Sturridge.

2. You said Romeu is the next Alonso and seem to compliment Luiz who u think will be the world's best one day. Then u said Luiz is best paired with Cahill but JT is the better organizer and he or Frank should always be on the pitch. Using your math, neither Cahill or Ramires should be on the pitch together i'm guessing. very confusing.

3. Concerning Ivan, our Mazacar trio switch constantly and don't play wide so Ash & Ivan will at times have roles of wingers, that's RDM's system. It is Ivan's reponsibility to track as well as RDM's to make sure he does and Ivan for me has been playing very well recently.

Lastly, Ash & Jt are still playing at a high high level at their positions but for me this system doesn't suit Frank. We saw last week he can still find the net, but again with the new awesome mids the only place to play Frank is in one of the holding positions which in this formation requires pace and/or defense along with passing. IMO Frank could still be very useful in the Bpl in a different formation, 4-4-2 or 4-3-3 whre he plays a bit more forward and doesn't have any real defensive responsibility. If not for what he has meant to Chelsea and England football he probably wouldn't be on the squad, i honestly don't see him as a difference maker any more and in fact when he sits i'm more confident of our chances to win and keep a clean sheet.

Just being honest, rant over.

Agree3 Disagree0

Haha to be honest mate I confused myself a little reading it over. I will try to explain better what I meant.

1. Did Stevie wonder also see us beating Barcelona? Now I know Rami isn't a rw nor is he suited there, however for our new system of playing narrow and using the fullbacks up the pitch Rami was fantastic at covering for Ivan. He should not be played there but while the newcomers were still gelling he was the best option. You put forward sturridge? Really? Did you post last year? He is also not a RW, only ever cuts back onto left and offers nothing defensively.

2.JT allows Luiz to push forward and marshals other players to cover his position if he is too advanced. Gary does not allow Luiz to push as far forward. He keeps him in position, and Luiz complies which says he is currently more comfortable with JT covering him. This may make you raise the question of how Cahill and Luiz are then best pairing? JT is beginning to drop form and has certainly lost a yard or two of pace. He only has a year or two left in him IMO and Luiz Cahill will take the reigns. Cahill is currently more than able to fill void left by JT but doesn't possess the leadership JT does, yet.

3. I realise how the team sets up. Ash pushes back at speed, Ivan does not hence becoming a liability. RDM I'm sure wants both to push back especially if mata is on right as Hazard is much better defensively. Using my maths you would have a team of Cahill Luiz at back with Lampard and Rami or Romeu in pivot or JT and Luiz with rami Romeu pivot. Squad not team. It will probably not happen this year that we have rami Romeu Cahill and Luiz all on together.

I agree the system doesn't suit frank but in saying that he looks ok if Mikel isn't his pairing. Rami and Romeu with frank will work. Rami and Romeu are obviously better choice.

Melbourne CFc

Agree3 Disagree0

I agree with a ton of what you said and then clarified Melbourne. I think just play wise Cahill might bring more than terry but terry brings leadership and can command a defense better than just about anyone. I also agree that frank pushes forward too often and can leave us light in the middle of the park. I agree romeu can be an absolute stud if he gets the chance. Finally I agree that Ivan needs to start getting back or start getting used to watching Cesar.

Tk

Agree2 Disagree0

Good clarification Melbourne, I agree with ur points and am no longer confused lol.
