Seeing Man City linked with Leroy Sane makes me think about how much I'd like to see us take a chance on him at Chelsea. A left footed right winger who can cut inside with his pace and can score goals. Griezmann would have been my first choice aswell as everyone else's I'm sure but that's likely to happen so I'd like to see us take a chance on him. I know people will say this and that about Bertrand Traore but I've never been fully impressed with him, he gets knocked off the ball too much and makes a lot of the wrong decisions although very young. From what I've seen of Sane a front three of Sane, Costa and Hazard could be devestating and one that will provide goals also. From what I've read there is no interest in him but personally I'd prefer to see him on the right wing other than Mkhitaryan who IMO will make our play too narrow and try too come inside too much.

Traore has all the attributes to be a top top striker. I hope he gets a lot more chances next year. Every one raves about RLC (With good reason) but traore came in last year and took every chance given to him. Scored a few goals. He's great in the box (reminds me or chicorito) but is great outside the box aswell. His talent was always evident. given enough game time and guidance under conte and he will be a real asset for us.

I agree with JCFC and I'm rather surprised that not many people rate Traore on this page. He's still very young and has scored quite a lot of goals for someone his age. He's also clearly got incredible technical ability in the sense of dribbling and shooting whilst he's pretty pacey as well. If he bulks up a bit which I'm sure he will do in time he can be a superstar. It's unfair to write him off already.

Ed i was just wondering whether you'd be able to write out a list of targets for us like on the city page. I know you don't want to really incase people get the wrong idea about us virtually buying them but if you put them into categories like primary and then less likely targets it may be easier for others to understand.

Okay ed no worries.

Hi Ed

Multiple reports suggesting me may look at a deal for Sturaro of Juventus if a deal for nainggolan cannot be completed, do we hold any interest in him? And also reports that Barcelona may look at azpilicueta as a Dani Alves replacement any truth in this or do they have other targets?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - This was late last year when Juventus have said that two offers were made for Stefano Stuararo (these will be from Crystal Palace and Roma) were rejected and approaches from three other sides, including Southampton and Chelsea, have resulted in a "not for sale" flag being waved.}

Thanks for the info Ed, just all so many rumours and reports every day we are linked to new players haha.

People should be more realistic, the main task that the club has this summer is to somehow keep squad core.
Chelsea has to sign at least 2 strikers (Falcao, Pato and Remy- will be gone) if Costa leaves (hopefully not) then 3 strikers.
At least one offensive CM. One CDM if Mikel leaves. And one CB at least.
Conte will completely change tactical and formational approach but to succeed he needs squad depth.
Next season could be crucial for Chelsea football club.

We need an engine who can do a box to box role and a CDM role which should be either Kante or Nainggolan or both if Matic leaves. Mikel's role can be quite easily filled by Chalobah.

I feel that in midfield we should sign one for the engine room like nainggolan or kante or someone in their ilk and If matic leaves then get two with loftus cheek covering. For the third midfield position the pirlo role obvious fabregas would be there and I'd have baker covering him to let him intergrate in and he could also cover the engine room position. I think we should atleast 1 cb and maybe more depending on departures. As rudiger is crocked I have no idea who we should or will go for. Upfront I'd buy 1 top class forward like lukaku or morata to partner Costa with traore and Abraham covering but I do think this may leave us a little bit lacking if Costa gets crocked but I would maybe risk a year of just aiming for top 4 to fully integrate baker rlc traore and baker. i'd prefer to sell Costa and buy both morata and lukaku but I realsie the club really want to hang on to him so signing both seems highly unlikely due to their price tags.

ONM it's not easy to sing player who would be on level of Mikel not to mention that it's practically impossible to sign player on level of Matic ( all those guys like Kante, Nainngolan, Pjanic are very different from Matic) . BTW signing Pogba, Koke, Kroos or Vidal is practically impossible.
We should consider ourselves very lucky if we manage to keep Matic and loose only Mikel. Yes, Chalobah could replace Mikel in away.
Strikers are our biggest concern now.

CB and CM is by far our biggest concern no a striker.

Ed002. Thank you again for all of the information you provide. You're so old and wise. Recently you said Asamoah of Juventus was a player Conte asked Chelsea to look to. As you've explained in the past, players are identified and eventually transferred to Chelsea after input from several areas of the club (not just the manager) . I was therefore wondering if you could let us know which players (that you know of) Conte has specifically requested that Chelsea look to. It would be interesting in terms of getting an idea of his vision for the team. Thank you as always.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - People are simply trolling the posts now James - I say something is of no relevance and they continue to ask so it is best if I limit what is said. As for naming players Conte asked Chelsea to consider, it will simply lead to people trashing Conte and I don't want.}

It's a shame really. we have idiots that want to ruin for others.

Thanks for the info your providing tho ed002.

I think people get too carried away with the need for, what are considered as, ‘marquee’ signings. When Conte was head coach there the biggest international star Juve signed was Carlos Tevez. I think we’re going to see, for those who have read the book or seen the film, a Moneyball approach under Conte. They might not be household names or international superstars breaking transfer records but they will fit Conte’s system, they will fight for him and, from his perspective, they will win for him too. Pogba was just a youth team player who couldn’t get a game for United when he signed him – look at him now - more of that at Chelsea please.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - "Moneyball" is very explicitly a baseball-related technique. Conte will not have control over money nor transfers, although he will have an input to transfers. The policy moving forward is something developed by others and being given to Conte for him to work within the framework of.}

Hey Ed002,

I know it takes time and I know people get all crazy when You pass on info that they don't like (acting as if You are making the decisions personaly) but I am really really really fascinated as to how things operate behind the scenes and the Football Model for the Club moving forward.

I read a fantastic write up You had produced on another Clubs page and even though it wasnt related to Chelsea it was a really in depth and informative read.

I and I am sure a lot of the other posters would love something similar in relation to Chelsea. It might give some of the whingers some food for thought aswell (ok, who am I trying to kid. ) but still if You ever have the time I genuinely would love to read it.

Keep up the great work Ed002 and the Posters here.

Hey EmilSC,

It was a few months ago now.
If I remember correctly I think it was on the Liverpool Page :)

It was a really great, informative read.

guys, Ed002 did used to supply this info (in depth) to us, however, a small percentage led by a certain Curt (and other deleted abusive posts that we never see) has ruined it for the real longterm fans on here. Our support of the Ed's and chastising the dickheads may eventually result in this site returning to what it was a few years ago. It will take time to regain the Ed's trust, we need to be patient and vigilant!

The club is being linked with Ogbonna as a target for centre back now that Rudiger has an injury and the other centre half targets are seemingly, yet again, unobtainable, for one reason or another.

Jesus Christ, how the mighty have fallen, from Carvalho, Terry, Gallas, to this. What I said about ambition is becoming more and more apparent, it is just is not there anymore when it comes to competing for the best players in their positions. The club can hold talks with clubs over players (Griezmann) but they mostly end up going nowhere because we seemingly refuse to pay the going rate or just can not get them over the line for one reason or another.

Maybe the expectations should be lowered from now on because this window is already not looking good even if it is not "officially" open and lessons do not seem to have been learnt from last summer, unbelievably.

You said it yourself-the window isn't even open! I don't get how people hear a rumour and instantly take it as gospel, seriously a week or two ago people were complaining about Rudiger as we were apparently going to sign him and saying that he wasn't good enough. How about waiting to complain until something actually happens, yeah?

09 Jun 2016 07:00:40
I completely agree, let's slate every player before they even sign for us. In fact let's slate everything- blame the club when they sign players, blame the club when we don't sign players, blame the club for playing/ not playing youth. Jesus christ the negativity doesn't end!

I think frustration is a better word. What happened last year pre-season, with Mourinho and the performance all adds up to total frustration for everyone not just supporters. The window opens today and it is certain Chelsea will not just start now they have been working behind the scenes for months I am sure. The irritant are newspapers who love a story, true or false and everyone has produced a "five players Conte must buy" list. The one worry I have is Chelsea and Mourinho attracted players not least because many wanted to play for him, Chelsea and Conte will also attract players but to my mind, not to the degree they they did especially without an European involvement.
