An interesting topic for my fello chelsea fans for a bit of interest what do you guys make of Brazilians as footballers would I be right in saying that a lot of brazilian footballers rise and fall way to early in der careers kaka was on the way down when he joined Madrid in my view pato looked amazing and Milan for a 2-3 year period for me Ronaldinho slumped far to early in his career he had about 4 years at the top and faded at the same age as kaka in his late 20s 28-29 were as lamps and Gerard an co were at the peak age then Robinho died an awful death also is it down to these guys peaking to early or just coming from nothing to been millionaires and maybe partying to hard I no for a fact that was Ronaldinhos problem what ever about the rest of the guys mentioned above . U see the likes of rivaldo and Cafu and Carlos then they were top class til retirement.

Nice topic, I'm not sure though I've often wondered myself. I think its the mentality, I believe they might be driven by enjoying life to the fullest which reflects in their football I think. When it becomes just a job and its really hard work staying in shape they lose that freedom and joy they feel. They're very laid back people the Brazilians.

Pele, Roberto Carlos, Cafu, Zico, Gilberto, Maicon, Dani Alves - and didn't the heavy-smoking Socrates play into his 40s? A touch of over-generalisation methinks.

Nicely put mrs Costa but a high number of brazilian attackers and south-americans in general start fading from the age of 28yrs, 4yrs early.

There is the need to consider their true age. There were no age competitions until late 70s and as such South America players do not see the need to lie about their true age. However, these days there are 30years old players claiming to be 25yrs and by the time they are actually 30 their careers are over. Same goes with some of African players. Not quite the same with most European & North America countries because of proper documentations at birth.

I already mentioned most of them Mrs Costa I agree maybe 80 percent didn't fail to play til late 30s was just pointing out what a shame it was to see kaka pato Ronaldinho Robinho etc a shame as Ronaldinho was up der as one of the best footballers of my generation I'm in my mid 20s and he rivaled against us many times in the Barcelona shirt that man was an absoloute genius.

The problem with many Brazilians is that they're not used to the high life and get a bit too keen on the party life, women and Colombian Marching Powder. Adriano is another one who fits this bill.

Geffro how did I not remember Adriano he was a huge talent for all but what 2-3 years with inter looks the real deal I think he had huge problems do he saw his father been shot dead in front of him as a kid etc according to the stories.

Ronaldinho, Robinho, and Pato all had quite a lot of interest in the nightlife from the sound of things. That said a player such as Dani Alves is very public about his wild social life but is still in incredible physical condition at the age of 33. If I remember kaka started having an awful time with injuries.

Something to take the mind off all the current rumours- what is the most boring transfer saga ever in your opinion? Player can eventually have signed or not, and doesn't have to be Chelsea related but can be. I'm torn between our Stones saga last year (absolutely hate the name now) and Sneijder to United (which still somehow seems to be running! )

The Robinho transfer saga still baffles me. Can't believe he never became a cfc player.

Looking at our current squad and thinking about how Conte might set the team out, for me it'll be a mixture of a 3-5-2 and 4-2-4, here's what I believe the rest of this transfer window will look like and how we'll line up next season.

Goalkeepers - Unless Barcelona or Real decide to break the bank for Courtois I see no reason why he won't be our number one next season. He had a season disrupted by injury and confidence issues but there is no reason he won't be back to his commanding best this season. If he does go then I believe Jack Butland would be the best signing we could make. Understandably Begovic may go off looking for regular games and Lopez seems to have been lined up as his replacement.

Defence - I was really, very damning of Ivanovic last season but I believe playing in a back three could rejuvenate him; but ultimately I see him only keeping Christensen's space warm for a year. When fit Zouma, and his extraordinary recovery pace, will be priceless in the centre of the three. I'd expect the club to complete the signing of Koulibaly who'll compete with Terry and Cahill for the remaining spot. Would love to see Clarke-Salter get some minuets but with a lack of European football and, what I believe will be, serious runs at the domestic cups it might be difficult - loan might be best.

Wing/ Full-Backs - I'd expect there to be a decent, healthy competition between Baba and Kenedy to start on the left; both are much better suited to the wingback role. Azpilicueta will be very important on the right, as Lichsteiner is for Juventus. When Juve switch, mid-game, from three at the back to four at the back it's Lichsteiner who slips back to form the four; I'd imagine that it'll be Azpilicueta who'll be trusted with that role for us. Aina has a new contract, now he needs to work hard and put pressure on Azpilicueta. Willian or Pedro could play on the right when a more offensive approach is required.

Midfield - Fabregas would appear to be built for the deep lying playmaker (Pirlo) role and he'll have to have a good season because I believe Baker will be back, and putting him under a lot of pressure, next season. I don't see Matic moving on however, if RLC pushes on this year, he could find himself regularly on the bench by Christmas. Kante is easily the best player on the market for our midfield and I hope/ believe/ dream etc. that we'll sign him once the Euro's are over. Willian could fill a similar role, with more class, to the one Giaccherini occupied for Italy; but I see him as a bit part player next season. It would make sense to keep Mikel around for another year until Chalobah returns from, what you'd think, will be his last loan. I'd also be interested to see if Pasalic is kept in the squad next season. Oscar is, for me, surplus to requirement and should move on.

Forwards - Costa and Hazard should start most games next season and, form permitting, I fully expect the pair to be prolific. Batshuayi is a great bit of business and will compete strongly for starts. I don't see us signing Morata (I think he's Arsenal bound) but another striker should still come in. Insigne has been banded around the press this morning and that'd be good competition for Hazard. Traore seems to be the forgotten man - is a loan on the horizon for him?

Congrats if you read all that!

Sorry, but I'm afraid that you don't understand his tactical approach completely. Fabregas will never play Pirlo's role.

No worries antibot, I doubt I do too. Why do you think that Fabregas won't fit into that role? Lack of ability to read the game from a defensive perspective?

10 Jul 2016 11:10:25
I agree entirely with everything you said apart from 3 small points;
Begovic, when he joined he knew he wouldn't be the number 1 starting meeee however he accepted anyway! If a situation happens with courtois getting injured or banned like last season we need a good goal keeper to replace him and begovic has proved that.
Mikel, it's his time to move on. He is slowing down the team and is often making vital mistakes. Although I really like him and admire what he's done for us I think it's his time to move on. With him here it prevents our youngsters having Chances in the team
Finally Traore, if conte does use the 353 (which is expected) then undoubtly Costa and Batshauyi will be starting 2 strikers with the odd occasion of hazard having a go up front. Hazard is better suited to the cam position as it provides more running space and chances to play the correct pass as well as shooting. By playing hazard in cam I think conte will rotate fabregas and Matic around with another midfielder (preferably Kante)
This relates to Traore in the sense that if hazard Plays in cam Traore would have chances up front when Costa or Batshauyi get injured, banned or need a rest or in easier games.

Fabregas is not good enough as defensive player, he'll get more prominent and offensive role. Conte's 352 is pretty close to 442 with CDM providing cover for 4 offensive midfielders 2 central and 2 winger midfielders. If have been watching Italy you could see DeRossi in CDM position often dropping as 4th defender. That will Matic be role. Many people think that he'll use Hazard as secondary striker but he won't, there is a big possibility that he will use him next to Fabregas or whoever as offensive central midfielder as he was using Giacherini on EURO. We don't have spend a lot of money to have fantastic team. The only player I can't see fitting in his tactics is Pedro.

I'll tell you how would be the best signing for Chelsea this summer.

Hazard performing to his very best again. He will be like a new signing. Can see him turning it on again this year. Look forward to that and seeing the swagger back down the Kings Road. No European football will do us the world of good too, with less games to play.

Fancy us to have a really good go at the title and domestic cups!

Up the Chels.

I'm personally hoping Madrid come for hazard and we cash in his mentality is weak and he was awful again at the euros bar the Hungary game I wasn't a bit impressed with him nor was I excited at the prospect of a superstar stepping up for his country which he duly didn't deliver I'm also delighted naingolan didn't sign for us he looks hugely overrated as do witsel the Belgium team are highly over rated superstars . For me Kante would be a worldly signing pogba is been quoted at a ridiculous rate even do he's class.

Hazard has been Belgium's best player all tournament.

09 Jul 2016 10:23:26
I have always felt Hazard's style of football is made for the EPL where defenders commit. He has never been close to consistent in International football and I do not think La Liga would suit at all and if he went back to France you would have to say his heart is not in any progression as it is a soft league. Sadly, as always, transfer season always spawns grossly over hyped and over priced players and I agree with Magichandshurley that Belgian players fall into that category although I think Pogba does also and would not be suited by our robust league. Koulibaly could be a little gem if we get him, the jury must out on Batshuayi until he performs, Bonnucci would be a calming influence in defence but we need some experience up front with an eye for goal. I hope we can shift some of our players in the next few weeks to free up some additional cash.

I agree about batshuayi the jury is out I'm sure most of us has hardly ever even seen him play I mean Stephen flètcher got a game at Marseille last season an he's heading to sehffueld Wednesday so how good is that Marseille team let's hope he's not a massive flop. If we sign Kante it would for me be the best signing of the summer we never replaced makelele an when he was at Chelsea we were the hardest team in world football to break down not to mention the awesome defence behind him but u guys no what I mean he was top class. Essien was as close as we got to replacing him he was more box to box than holding do. I no zero about koulibaly to be honest is he better than Christiansen or zouma? I mean the Italian league isn't much good these days we dodged a bullet not signing naingolan do he had an awful tournament 1 wonder goal that was it . Kante mahrez and we would have to get a centre half and I think we will do just fine oust mikel and Oscar to raise funds and that headless chicken baba.
