we had a goal machine sitting on the bench for 85mins. while we had a nobody playing .why, why, why?Torres was lethargic, static and depressing. Please get him away he's a bad influence for the other players

Believable7 Unbelievable1

Tbf other than the pass to Mata from right wing which should have been better, he wasn't the one missing good chances. Everything you said about him is true though.

i get it, everytime we lose we get upset and look for someone to blame. Not sure what Rafa could have done differently as we're playing 2 games a week and options at striker and cb with Terry out and Luiz playing mid. Not sure if Ba can play every match for us. Obviously ivan made 2 huge mistakes but from watching football over the years some games you only get a couple good chances(like the CL final corner) and you have to take them.

Torres could have done more and needs to go but we knew that before the match. We just need to work on our finishing and take our chances because we are out playing these teams. For me its the opposite feeling from last season when we got some results by barley hanging on and i couldn't fully enjoy the win, now i like the way we run at teams and they all sit back out of respect but our players are not lucky(deflections, good bounces and etc we see other teams get each week on the highlights) and sometimes we outshoot teams 3 to 1(23 to 7 against Qpr) and can't score.

i have tried to support torres for two years now and im finished with it, i have backed him unconditionally bcoz he is a chelsea player.but now i have had it he is finished i would rather have drogba back, TORRES IS CR"P get rid, demba ba is a good buy he is a very good striker, world class no but he makes torres look like a league 2 forward. In the 8 or so minutes he was on he completly changed the look of the tie, he scored a disallowed goal had two good headers and nearly got a penalty.
Ivanovic had a shocker its not rafas fault, the only mistake i could point at him was oscar should of been pulled sooner i thought he was our worse player after torres to be honest just didnt happen for him
For me rafa has made the greatest long term signing for the club Playing LUIZ in the midfield he looked good tonight and the person who said he was a headless chicken clearly has no understanding of the game.
last year i loved ramires but now i think he should be dropped for a while he isnt playing well,
1 ivanovic howlers
2 luiz looks good in midfield
3 all this RDM sh1t at 16 mins is embarassing.we were 4th in the league when he took over were did we finish 6Th{the players won the CL thru determination not RDM tactical nouse}
4 there was times in the first half tonight that when these players play together for a while we will be awesome, some of the passing was first class, look at the ramires chance if that was barca the media would all be sitting with semis on them.
5 Rafa has made us more solid as a unit going forward and defensivly since mourinho the balance is good
thru the team.
6 i am getting a bit sick of the lampard hero stuff i love super frank but why sign a 35 year old for next year on wage that would be in around 3 mill a year, i will never forget his public outbursts towards AVB if he loved the club and was the ultimate professional, he would of got on with it and supported the cause not criticised the manager, would man you players get on like that no so for that reason he lost my hero status last year.
drogba was getting dropped and he just got on with it he will always be my fave chelsea player ever he was just immense and knew when to bow out gracefully.
6 i think chelseas future will be better than the last few years, the players we are buying are pure quality i can't say in the last two years we have made a bad signing other than torres.
piazon
wallace
luiz
cahill
mata
oscar
hazard
cesar azpillecueta
marin
moses
ba
de bruyne
courtois
That is a great looking team for the future and i dare say there will be more.
i wrote this season off after cl exit we are rebuilding for a great future and we are in transition and still 3rd in league still not out of coc, got a kind draw in fa cup, and we could go on a good europa cup run that would be good cl experience for next year.
yes we lost tonight it was a freak result but to get on there backs boo the team and sing for rdm was i think ridiculous.RDM was sacked by west brom for god sake, was he really the man to build the new chelsea NO and i mean NO.
Rafa is doing an ok job so far and if we don't get who we want in the summer he will probably get the job full time.Get behind him for the next 5 months and you never know, yes he said all those things years ago, but mourinho did silly things to {i wish he comes home}.
cheer up we are lucky fans at the minute as it is obvious the club are doing all the right things for the long term not just for NOW.
sorry for the long post
Gareth 1973

Believable5 Unbelievable1

Some good stuff Gareth i enjoyed that post however i think you were wrong about Oscar the same way the other poster was wrong about luiz. For me he played top 3, made clever runs, showed toughness and emotion(what he did to draw the yellow) and hardly gave the ball away while applying the most pressure up front.

Agree3 Disagree1

Top post gareth, sounds time like you know what it was like supporting cfc through the tough times b4 roman arrived, I was there during Ian portifield, David Webb era, times were hard.

You can't even laugh about this result because its not even that much of an upset as Swansea are a better footballing side than Chelsea.

Believable6 Unbelievable6

Clearly you didn't watch the match. We dominated them even more than Qpr. They developed little to no chances, they poached 2 goals on mistakes, they got 2 corners back to back and that was their attack. We spent 50-60 min on their half of the field. They got the result, but if thats better i'll take my chances our team every time.

we have become so poor at home our shooting is crap torres is rubbish end of we need a player like fellaini to give us height and power in midfield im sorry to say blues fans we are a very poor side at times nothing like the chelsea of recent seasons what i will say also is we will win nothing this season with this team we have at the moment.

Believable5 Unbelievable1

Did you watch the match luiz ran the midfield he is tall and has hair like fellani, your point is pointless what can fellani do that luiz isnt doing
gareth 1973

Agree2 Disagree1

We need a striker who can lead the line bully defenders and score goals.
We also need more width in our play, for large periods of the game we play very narrow which makes it easier for the defending team.
On a more positive note Cahill is looking much stronger having had a proper run in the team. Luiz is getting stringer and stronger each game he plays in the midfield, also showing some strong leadership skills as well.
Azpilicueta looks a steal at right back, knows how to defend and likes to get forward although his final ball needs to be more consistant.
Regardless of players I don't beleive we will be able to be serious challengers for the league or champions league until the club appoint a manager and actually allow him to run the team and choose the players that he wants.

Agree2 Disagree0

09 Jan 2013 23:47:54
The form at home can't be helped by the 'fans' constantly singing the ex managers name and booing the current manager, which was happening from the word go, before the guy even had a chance of doing anything.

Agree6 Disagree0

09 Jan 2013 22:15:39
Not really too dissapointed about the result tonight, which is a bit wierd. I mean we had a lot of possesion and spent most of the game in the opossition half, two mistakes cost us. Other than the mistakes we were not that bad( i have seen us play a lot worse and also a lot better). Just a couple of points though i think would help our team.
Why do we always need to play the same formation?
When at home drop one of the holding midfield players and maybe play marin out wide with oscar inside next to mata.
Fernando torres has to go, he is probably the main problem in our squad. If in the summer we are going to activate falcao release price then why wait. If the club could get £20m for torres then they should take it. What the hell has happened to ramires, apart from mata he was probably our best player last year. Whenever cech is not in the team i instantly worry for us as turnbull and hilario are knowhere near good enough to play for a top team. If we can bring in fellani then i think letting lampard go is probably the best idea. I know i will get mugged off for saying that, but you have to take in different views, not just keeping him for his legend status. Is it actually fair on keeping him next year and he only plays a handfull of games at the end of his career, when playing at milan/juventus he would probably be a first team regular. Is it right the club should pay a squad player 150k per week. I think cole's case is different as i don't really believe there is anyone better out there. So i would like him to be offered a new contract. Lastly we have players who with a bit of tweaking we could get the better out of them i think. We have players who would be better suited out wide than always trying to play narrow down the middle where teams like swansea can just sit back and defend. Maybe trying something new like back to 4-3-3 or another formation to use wide attacking players. When things go pear shaped like tonight we all think we should do this do that, but that is my problem with rafa. He will keep his trust in players like torres instead of playing people who are hungry to play.
Team i would like v stoke if fit:
Cech
Cesar terry cahill cole
Oscar luiz ramires
Hazard ba mata

Team can easily go to 4-3-3, 4-5-1

Before my views get slated. This is what this site is about and where all chelsea fans who just want to see our team winning .

NWBLUE

Believable4 Unbelievable2

I agree
gareth1973

Agree3 Disagree1

Like your post NW, lot of sense in it. My only comment is about the formation not being an issue imo as it seems to me we push frwd and play like 4-3-3 or 4-5-1 depending on the shape of the opposition. I agree tho that we play narrow a lot and i think thats why Moses was given the start because he's a true winger but we still manage to create chances each game we need to become more clinical as a team. Our set peices use to produce goals regularly but recently have lets us down with everybody heading high(Cahill, Luiz, Ivan) over the post.

After the game today the name ivanovic should be synonymous to the word mistake. Sadly we all knew Torres would start the game but didn't know why. How? Some people might ask well I tell you all that don't know that our "interim manager" is a total spaz that probably enjoys the way Torres put his golden locks behind his ear every time he gives the ball away because that's all he does on the pitch.
we are passing the ball well but they don't give goals for those.

Only bright side from the game is at least we all know Torres would never start a head of Ba again...... Right???

ELI

Believable2 Unbelievable2

Wrong. Torres will start as long as there's Rafa and he is at the club.

JG

Agree3 Disagree1

Agree, but more because of at the club than Rafa. Rafa is the 3rd coach to play torres and atm we have only 2 strikers(assumng you're at least willing to count torres) so he will play.

Ivanovich as been terrible for ages
The right back can't cross a ball
Lampard did zero when he came on
Luiz was like a headless chicken
Torres - least said the better
Benitez is just s clown, fancy giving Ba 12 mins when torres went missing again.

Woeful all over the pitch, not sure if we practice shooting in training doesn't look like it .

The team got booed off the pitch, in reality they should be pelted with fruit !

Garbage of the highest order, just one calamity after the other at Chelsea now, we not be playing champions league next season and were going to win jack sxxt .

Pathetic management of the team is what is costing us games. What was the plan? Tell me.

QPR, West Ham, Corinthians, Fulham and now Swansea. I would expect all of the opposition to play like this at the Bridge. It is just perfect.

We have no ideas in the final third. Also at least 10 minutes of the game we spend passing uselessly between our backs and goalie. Where the hell is the sense of urgency?

Rafa has rotated everyone except for the defenders. Those guys could have had a breather, IMO. Not Ivanovic looks like villain, but had we finished 0-0 it's just as horrible of a result, considering we are playing almost all the best players at home!

Pathetic, pathetic, pathetic.

JG

Believable2 Unbelievable2

The only problem here is torres..if our another striker is not torres, we will win..lol

Agree2 Disagree1

JG its not the managment at all its souley down to the lazy sulky person up top who won't put a shift in! every1 makes mistakes and ivanovic who has been class all season made a couple of errors

Agree1 Disagree0

Postings of JG and Melbourne at least provide some therapy amid the madness that is persisting with Torres and Benitez's mindless (lack of until too late) substitutions. Has Benitez in his brief reign now got the worst home wins record percentage of all managers since Raneiri? Surely poorest record against 'weak' opposition? VBS

Agree0 Disagree0

We knock the ball around at the back to move the oppo around to create space but if the oppo want to park the bus the there ain't a lot you can do about it as we proved last year.
Unless you want the back four to launch it forward at every opportunity for a big man to get a flick on for the runners. If rafa sent them out to do this in the 2nd half he'd get slated for that also. The bloke can't win.
Yes he should of hooked Nando at HT for demba but apart from that I can't see what he did wrong, the over payed pampered players need to take some responsibility for a change.

Agree0 Disagree0

Torres is not the "only" problem. They are countless. It just depends on what the targets are. If it is to win against QPR at home - the problem is/was game planning and team selection.

If you aim higher it is the players brought in and the players left out. Look at this Azpiliqueta fella. A fullback should be able to cross, shouldn't he?

I'm tired going on and on, starting to repeat myself. To summarise - yu can't win with dwarfs and no striker.

JG

I think we are fine in all ares other than torres. it is as simple as that. torres 82 minutes zero all game ba 8 minutes 2 headers and a offside goal. BLUEBOY1

Torres as usual Rubbish. Demba Ba did more damage in his 6mins than Torres did all match. Top striker we have in Ba. Surely Torres needs to be on the bench for life. Ivanovic - Rubbish game today. I fear the axe over his head due to John Terry's return.

Why do referees hate us? Dominated. Awful mistakes, my kids wouldn't defend like that!
Luiz is a great midfielder. Ba was superb and poor officiating denied him a deserved goal as he wasn't offside.
Officials need to learn what is and isn't a dive. Denial of a blatant penalty was a joke.
Like Ivanovic's defending.

P.S. At least Ba might start against Stoke now!

Melbourne CFC

Melbourne CFC {Ed018's Note - what happened to using your email address}

Agree1 Disagree2

Yes you can blame Benitez at least in part. He shares some of the blame along with some of the players, including Ivanovitch cos of howlers tonight and Torres who continues to offer so little up front/no physical presence/little or no holding up/little or no appetite to put life and limb at stake to get to ball that passes/crosses into box largely useless (although many tonight also poor) and Swansea could hold us out like CFC could deny Barca. We need another, up for it striker to support Ba, and Torres to be shipped out to Atletico or whoever will have him asap. Preferably in part exchange for Falcao, though doubt that will ever happen. Can't be Turbull's fault, ball could easily have been played back to the keeper if Ivan was paying attention.

School boy error when you play out from the back you don't put it down the middle when there are 2 opposition players ready to close down. Play it out wide, thats why the full backs move out and up the pitch ready to receive the pass from the keeper.

I would prefer harewood to torres at the moment!

This is how I would personally like to the see the transition of our squad be completed by the end of summer 2013. I think with this final splurge we would have the makings of one of the greatest ever teams and would see something incredible as it develops over the coming years. If we made these signings I don't think we would need to re-enter the market for some time which would be useful with the introduction of FFP in summer 2014. An average squad age of 22. Incredible!

1. Courtios (age 20)
2. Delac (age 20)
3. Blackman (age 18)

4. Azpilicueta (age 22)
5. Wallace (age 18)
6. Ivanovic (age 27)
7. Cahill (age 27)
8. Sakho (age 22) - £8m
9. Okore (age 20) - £5.5m
10. Coentrao (age 24) - £13.2m
11. Shaw (age 17) - £5.2m

12. Luiz (age 25)
13. Oriol (age 21)
14. Fernando (age 25) - £17.2m
15. Ramires (age 25)
16. McEachran (age 19)
17. Oscar (age 21)

18. Mata (age 24)
19. Hazard (age 22)
20. Isco (age 20) - £14.1m
21. Piazon (age 18)

22. Falcao (age 27) - £30m + Torres
23. Ba (age 27)
24. Neymar (age 20) - £41.4m
25. Taison (age 24) - £11.2m

TOTAL COST: £145.8m

Sales:
Cech - £18.9m
Turnbull - £3.5m
Terry - £8.5m
Bertrand - £5m
Mikel - £17.2m
Essien - £5.8m

Ferreira, Hilario, Lampard, Malouda, Cole, etc go on frees (reducing wage bill) and get rid of no hopers such as Kakuta / Bruma for as much cash as possible.

TOTAL SALES: £58.9m +

TOTAL COST OF TRANSFER BUSINESS AND COMPLETETION OF SQUAD TRANSITION: £86.9m

Where the hell is Chalobah!?

Agree4 Disagree0

De Bruyne?

Agree3 Disagree0

Chalobak, Ake, Kallas, Feruz. All under 19 and very talanted! could go on and on......Kevin De Buyren(spelling)! DJ

Agree1 Disagree0

Essien will not go for anything in the summer. Who would buy Mikel and Terry for those prices? Get Neymar out of that team you dreamer and where is De Bruyne probably our brightest looking prospect?

Agree2 Disagree0

We are not going to sign sahko, okore, shaw, coentrao, fernando, isco, falcao, neymar and taison.

Maybe 3 or 4

Agree2 Disagree0

Turnbull 3.5
Cech 18.9... Not 19m but 18.9 lol
Mikel 17.2
Where did you get these numbers from!

Agree2 Disagree0

When you wrote 17.2 for Mikel, I presume you mean £17.02 ?

Agree2 Disagree0

We will not sign Neymar, Fernando or Sakho. Falcao is also very unlikely. Doubtful we will sell Terry or get that amount for Mikel. Next summer we will likely sign Benat and Isco, along with a main striker. Most likely options being Higuain, Cavani or someone with a smaller price tag.

I have heard that only premier league and championship teams can qualify for europa so is that true?

What I don't understand is why so many no name posters have all of a sudden appeared, taking swipes at Kevin. Yes he can be a little misguided and tends to contradict himself, claims to be 'ITK' and.... Never mind.

if lampard goes to utd he will lose respect!

Believable3 Unbelievable6

If you stop believing everything you read, and sign your posts, you might gain some.

Melbourne CFC

Agree4 Disagree3

How can a man shown the door loose respect?

JG

Agree5 Disagree1

How will he loose respect? Regardless of his contract situation and the complete lack of respect being shown by the club to him, he has been at the club for 12 years consistently performing at the highest levels in the game. Joint second highest scoring player in the clubs history on 193 goals, 1 champions league, 3 premier league, 4 FA cup, 2 league cups and in my opinion the greatest player in the chelseas history. When he leaves it will be a sad, sad day for the club, and wherever he goes, be it Liverpool, Barnet or Lazio he will leave a legend. There are no circumstances I can see that should result in any true supporter of the club loosing respect for Frank.
