So I've said this before and I'm not bashing Hazard. Because when he wants to play he's one of the best out there, but games like today are where he frustrates. It's no good turning it on one game and being a shadow of that player the next. This is what separates Ronaldo and Messi from Hazard. They perform week in week out consistently at the top level. Hazard has a game or two performing magically and then goes missing for a few.

The whole team was disappointing today don't get me wrong, it seems to be the story of our season so far. Go on a decent run of winning a few and then our performance drops for a few games.

Top 4 finish and push as far as we can in the Champions League and cups has to be our targets now.

Believable0 Unbelievable1

{Ed0333's Note - apparently your boys were ‘tired’ today Bobby.

09 Dec 2017 23:53:37
Messi plays with world class players week in week out and so does Ronaldo. Messi links with Suarez and Dembele. Ronaldo gets Kroos and Modric. Hazard has to play with Bakayoko, Zappacosta and Alonso behind him in a more physical league. He’s never going to be as good as Messi or Ronaldo but if he had world class players around him I’m sure he would perform considerably better.

If we carry on playing 3-5-2 we need someone who contributes with goals from midfield. Bakayoko, Kante, Cesc and Drinkwater don't do that. Nainggolan And Coutinho either side of Kante would give us a whole different dimension.

Believable1 Unbelievable1

{Ed0333's Note - Coutinho will be sipping Sangria on Las Ramblas in the near future mate

09 Dec 2017 23:55:28
I know Ed but don’t you think we need someone of that mound for this formation? Someone who can create and score from long range? How good would we be now if we had Loftus-Cheek, Kante and De Bruyne in midfield? Blimey I really do hate Jose for selling him.

Agree1 Disagree1

{Ed0333's Note - De Bruyne makes me salivate

10 Dec 2017 09:27:23
Honestly, De Bruyne is a whiney prick that looks miserable the first moment things don't go his way. I'm not mad we sold him as I really don't like him. Very good player when on form, but whines way too much.

This continuous blasting of Bakayoko by our fans ain't cool, please we should give him time. It will click for him some day.

He wasn't even bad yesterday in my opinion. It was a tactical switch when we needed a goal. He was better than Fab in the first half, but we needed a goal so Fab stayed on (and continued to not add anything to our match) .

Very dissapointing result today. I cannot believe how poor we were, generally our play was so slow and its a massive let down.

Morata needs to concentrate on the basics, for awhile now he has been missing so many chances with his feet. If not for his headed goals his goal scoring stats with his feet would have been pathetic. He needs a rest, bats needs to start the next match. Hopefully comes in and scores with his feet and piles pressure on Morata.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

09 Dec 2017 18:15:37
Morata is all instinct. Give him time and he usually misses, great player thou, needs options to support, him, today hazard didn’t work, sometimes he needs a tea striker up with him and hazard wide as a plan B, at the moment our plan b is our plan A from start of season which didn’t really work with Willian / Pedro wide.

I agree may be the time to give batman a chance, he will definatelky have one against bournemouth in cup game. And if he take his chance than he definatelly may have a chance to start in premier league.

Michy Batshuayi is a goal scorer, proven fact. A fox in the box, a predator in front of goal, someone who sees a chance and shoots, a player not always easy on the eye, a player who might not link the play but a player who will stay on his feet and put the ball in the onion bag! Give him a chance. we need a goalscorer and we have one. rant over.

Conte - he did amazingly well to win the league last year but I increasingly question his ability.

Pedro on for Alonso reducing width when WHU were packing the centre of their defence doesn't make any sense to me; to combat a packed defence you have to go wide not play through the middle as we constantly attempted to do. His 2nd substitution should have been his 1st - Moses should have come on for Zappa at half-time; and so a substitution was wasted. Against a team defending and sitting deep with 2 lines of 4, why not bring on Michy to play alongside Morata and give West Ham something to think about? Morata was up against 3 central defenders on his own. With 10 minutes to go, why not throw Cahill up front - we didn't need 3 defenders to cover the 1 West Ham (knackered) attacker?

Aside from today's game, I think it is ridiculous the way that Costa and Luiz have been treated - none of us know all the details but a good manager should be able to make his point and then move on, not throw the baby out with the bathwater - imagine how long Keane would have lasted at Man U if Ferguson had had the same attitude as Conte.

If Conte left tomorrow, it would not bother me one jot.

What a nonsense post, Conte is the best what could have happened to this club.

Complete nonsense. Pedro was brought on as he can offer witdh (he is a winger after all), though he could have let batsman play but players let him down today, they didn't turn up for the game.

Anyway your post is disgusting, you really need to think if you suporting the right team.

Had no problem with the way the Coasta situation was dealt. As much as we're missing him, he wanted to leave on more than 1 occasion and disappeared the entire 2nd half of the season last year after the Januray window and then tried to play the victim once he realised he couldn't go back to Athleti in the sunmer. With Luiz we don't really know what's going on so can't say anything. With the team it's hard to play with width when there's no quality, Zappa has been awful, Alonso is doing his best but clearly lacks, only player who does anything is Moses who should've started. Morata had more than enough chances to bring us level but he's been terrible in front of goal for a while now. Batshuayi should've gone up with Morata I agree with but for me he isn't being ruthless enough. Continues to trust Morata and Bakayoko eventhough they keep letting him down. Start Bats, give anyone but Baka a chance. We had enough chances today, but it's clear to see our lack of quality with our system when Hazard and Fab don't play well.

Miss Wood, in my opinion you are so wrong about Conte and I find it amazing that any fan would NOT be upset if he left the club.
It’s all about opinions but for me he is the best thing to have happened at our club for a long rime and I hope he stays for many years!

Agree9 Disagree1

09 Dec 2017 16:54:57
TomB, it is about opinions - having lost to Burnley, Palace and now West Ham - fortunate against Swansea - how can you say that Conte is 'the best thing that has happened' in years? Also, he's not going to stay 'for many years' as was made obvious by his refusal to extend his contract. Costa is criticised in this post for wanting to leave - so why is it ok for Conte to do the same? It is my 'opinion' that he Conte cannot think outside of the box, and if his 3 at the back tactics are not working he seems to run out of ideas - just my opinion.
LRDit, I don't consider abuse as debate so won't be responding to your crass comments.

Agree0 Disagree3

09 Dec 2017 17:19:39
Miss Wood, The reason I’m happy to say Antonio is the best thing to happen to my club for many years are as follows:-
(a) First year as manager wins the Premier league.
(b) This year SO FAR we are third in the league through to the knockout stages of the Champions League and still have both domestic cups to play for!
(c) I no longer dread our managers press conferences and comments.
(d) NO manager gets everything tactically right in every game but I’m happy that he gets the vast majority spot on.
On a general note I don’t blame any player (including Costa) if they want to move on. They have the right to play for any club that makes them happy. Players have a short carrier.
I’m only guessing but I think one of the the main reasons for Conte not signing an extension to his contract are his family and if they settle in the UK. If that’s the case it’s understandable.

09 Dec 2017 17:54:36
Miss Darren Wood, I have not abused you at all. Just saying that you are talking some sh*t it could have been any manager today, but if the players don't turn up everyone would struggle. Our squad is at most is 3rd best in the league and to win title last year is amazing achievement taking into account how much other clubs have spent.

If anyone could be criticised it should be people who are responsible for transfers this summer as we clearly should have done better at that department.

Believable5 Unbelievable0

09 Dec 2017 14:46:10
Although it's dissapointing, the issues are deeper. Being in 4 completions playing every 3 days with 15 players is never going to work. Players are fatigued and the signings were underwhelming and poor.

Rudiger has not been an improvement, either was Drinkwater or Morata (although he has the potential too, he was a good signing imo)

Zappacosta was a backup buy, someone we sign if all else fails. He was obviously not good enough yet we did give him a chance and he's proven nothing. We don't have a backup left back, or a third striker.

If chelsea still do wish to be a top team, we need to look at our transfer and incoming players policy.

Agree2 Disagree5

09 Dec 2017 15:21:02
Standard, I totally agree that our transfer policy is weak - think Zappacosta, Batshuyi, Pedro, Alonso, Hector, Baba Rahman, Bakayoko, Miazga, Remy, Papy Djilobodji, Falcao, Marko Marin, Romeu, Pato - a whole team plus subs in over the last few years and none of them good enough! At the same time we have sold Chalobah, Matic, Luis, Ramires, Oscar, de Bruyne, Cuadrado, Salah, Costa, Traore, Lukaku, Mata - another team plus subs and I would suggest that every one of them would improve our squad and team.
Something has to change or we will very soon be a mid-table side.

Agree1 Disagree7

09 Dec 2017 15:54:40
Unlikely to win the league, still in the domestic cups and Champions league knockout stage. We must be having a nightyseason!
Some people need to get a grip on themselves. Yes, we were poor today but we are the Champions of England and I can think of some London Clubs that won’t be singing that song anytime soon!

Agree5 Disagree0

09 Dec 2017 21:09:53
Sorry miss Darren but your post is nonsense. Firstly Marko Marin was 6-7 years ago and highly rated at the time and blighted by injuries but yes turned out to be a wrong move (although a fairly cheap one) . Alonso- perhaps not the fastest LB and I want the club to get Sandro but apart from Rose, I rate Alonso as better than all the other LB’s for the top 6. Bakayoko tore up the CL last season, he’s been with us less than 6 months and been injured for most of it. Far too soon to judge him despite how poor he is currently. Batshuayi is a better 2nd choice striker than arse, spuds and pool have. Zappacosta, was lauded in midweek after playing LB against Atletico and yet now he’s not even worthy of place in our squad?

Matic had a few good games at the start for United but hasn’t been fantastic since and ultimately he wanted to leave. Costa wanted to leave basically the day after he signed. Luis never settled and never showed anything but mediocrity when he did play. I’ll always have fond memories of Ramires for his goal against Barcelona but he’s not setting the Chinese league alight and there are by far much better options than him out there. Salah is currently playing in a vastly different team and style of play to what we were and currently play. KDB in hindsight was a mistake but Oscar at the time certainly seemed like he had much more potential than him. Lukaku chose to leave rather than fight to be first choice against Torres and Eto’o, which is quite honestly a joke. I’d have backed myself to win a starting berth against them. Cuadrado as far as I’m aware is hardly setting Serie A alight for Juventus.

Now of course we’ve made mistakes in transfers but no club ever gets it 100% correct. City have spent hundreds of millions on duds including Bony, Mangala, Otamendi, Navas, Bravo, Nolito. They also sold Iheanacho who had a great goals/ min ratio and if he gets games at Leicester could do really well. Utd let Pogba go and had to spend £90m to get him back. Allowed Pique to go back to Barca. Sold Ronaldo. Spent £30m on Luke Shaw who can’t even make the bench. ‘Wasted’ money on Darmian, Rojo, Blind, Depay, Schneiderlin, Kagawa, Di Maria etc etc I could name dozens of players for almost every top club.

Disgusting display.

09 Dec 2017 14:26:01
Loads of players could take the blame. Bakayoko is just so so bad, the boy needs to put his head straight and try his best. As again he has some blame for the goal, felt sloppy and his player ran away from him and played the wall with goal scorer. We can forget the title just need to get top 4 this year and hope we win any cup.

Agree1 Disagree1

09 Dec 2017 14:47:33
LRDit, not sure Baka was to blame for the goal - think it was Christensen not being tight on his man. That is not to say that Baka is not a hindrance - I said last week that he is only 21 but the more I see of him, the more I think that he will never improve enough.

Well said Tom. We were very poor today. Problem was the transfer business in the summer, we just don't have enough quality players. As Ed01 has said the lady (forgot her name ) needs to have someone alongside her and take advice when dealing with transfers. Maybe we will have to pay a bit more than we would like for a player, but if we want to keep up with city and United then we have to spend the dosh.

Really really bad game, no movement with 3 attacking players and morata (who was really poor as was hazard)

Agree2 Disagree2

09 Dec 2017 14:30:02
Very poor indeed. I like Morata but he has gone off the boil and will go to ground far too easily. Sadly we lack penetration and try to walk the ball through a defence, hardly a shot from distance. We need to knuckle down and ensure we are in the first four as that is the best we can hope for.

Agree2 Disagree2

09 Dec 2017 15:26:46
I don't think you can blame Morata or Hazard (although someone needs to front-up Morata about throwing himself to the ground as JT and Lamps did with Drogba) .

Morata was surrounded by 3 central defenders at all times and every time Hazard got the ball he was confronted by 3 or 4 West Ham players - Moyes got his tactics spot-on and Conte had no answer.

09 Dec 2017 14:05:04
Best team winning don’t know how we are so poor. Movement slow and ponderous. We look totally out of sorts. No urgency. I think we can kiss this goodbye. Let’s concentrate top four and cups. Just not strong enough, losing to two out of bottom three not good.

Well first half just finished. Very poor. Zapa poor, Bakayoko poor and hazard having a non going day so far.
They are winning 50/ 50s and ref doing us no favours, but stop throwing yourselves to the floor it’s embarrasing.
Moses on for zapa. Bakayoko off Willian on. Up the tempo get one and we will win. But we created nothing going forward.

I’m still sitting in my seat feeling very dejected.
My first thoughts are, ’we could be playing this game all week and not score.
So many players looked off the pace? We moved the ball so slowly? We lost out on so many 50/ 50 tackles? Did we really need to start with three central midfielders?
In so many ways it reminded me of our performance at Palace.
We just have to put in behind us, and avoid meeting any hammers fans for a few months!
