no changes as of yet to the starting XI despite a underpar performance last year and the aging stars whom blew out mid season are still starting despite only getting older. Now dont get me wrong i dont think we need to get rid of the likes of drogba and anelka they were great the start of last season and if they were on the bench and starting now and then this season they will be the best subs anywhere. AVB may well be content with the team in training and pre season but the same thing will happen mid season again unless we invest in some new talent for the starting 11. villas baos may be a fresh young manager but hese no miracle worker and cant add energy to old legs. signings i would like to see to freshen the squad would be modric, fernando adam johnson. and if we can all dream HULK and NEYMAR.

Would be VERY happy if we were to sign Douglas and Fernando but I would go mental if we were to sign Douglas, Fernando AND Di Maria. I believe we would be a very, very good team with those additions. We would surely have one of the most feared strike forces in the world.

If these were to happen, Di Maria, Torres, Drogba, Malouda and Sturridge vs. the likes of Ronaldo, Higuain, Benzema, Ozil and Kaka from Real Madrid and Messi, Pedro, Iniesta and David Villa of Barcelona. (I know not all of these are 'strikers', but do constitute and 'attacking force') Either way, we are a few signings and seasons behind the best attacking forces in Europe at the moment.

Snijder keen On utd, santos put price up and making more demands, modric situation gone quiet. And no confirmed interest in anyone, great news about lukaku but he will be mainly used as a sub so still not made any changed to the starting XI that fell short last season, plus the loss of essien, think either pato or neymar, Adam Johnson or mata and definetly goetze Little bit worried thou for new season.

I really hope Chelsea make a move for kaka, ganso, neymar and pato, expensive I know but what quality.

if modric plays europa league for spurs can he play cl for us? {Ed002's Note - I am not sure if the exemption ruling for one player can be exercised before February. Certainly there is an exemption from the preliminary qualifying rounds but I am not so sure it would apply now. You should be able to look it up - try Googling "Regulations of the UEFA Champions League" and 2011. If you find out the exact detail, please let us know.}
