If we are going to stick to the 4-2-3-1 formation next season then I think we only need two players apart from the returning players.
Striker:
Falcao - Looks like a deal will happen in the summer as Chelsea representatives are trying to get a deal done early and with Hazard and Mata either side of him and Oscar that's a terrifying attacking group of players.
Holding Midfielder:
Capoue - Whether Luiz plays in the hold or not we need another holding midfielder Mikel can obviously play the cup games seen as he doesn't seem to be leaving. A lot of interest in Fellaini I rate him but I don't know whether he would fit in to this system.
Hopeful returning players:
Courtois
Kalas
McEachran
De Bruyne
Give Lukaku another season at West Brom

Absolutely agree with this guy.
4-2-3-1
---Capoue----Ramires---
Mata----Oscar----Hazard
---------Falcao-----------
Swap Ramires with De Bruyne or McEachran depending, possibly Mikel or Luiz if you want to be really robust defensively. Oscar needs to play through the middle and can drop back in to deep lying playmaker when Ramires makes run etc etc
Would also like to see 4-3-3 as times too, against more challenging opponents something like:
--Ramires---Capoue---De Bruyne--
Mata---------Falcao----------Hazard
Again swap De Bruyne with McEachran or Luiz depending.
The only other thing I would like to see is a bid for Luke Shaw if Southampton go down at the end of the season (highly unlikely though). Is already looking comfortable in PL, and could take over from Ashley Cole in a year or 2 while still getting lots of football straight away too. Not to sure on Bertrand.

I rate Capoue and think he would be a good fit for a good price.

Think we wil need 2 st if torres goes.

We lack passing range from the 2 centre mids. I believe we need to play 4 3 21 or 4 3 3 with the players we have. oscar should play deeper. with players like ramires, mikel, lampard the passing is slow and sloppy. by the time the attacking trio get the ball its too late, there closed down. so suggesting a midfield two of ramires and capoue or mikel will play agnst us from the start. ir won't work. the football terms predictable and robotic. I think luiz and capoue would work, luiz is a great passer and gets the ball forward quickly and capoue is a very tidy player with a good shot on him

Falcao- If we had him we could have bloody Nigel Adkins as manager and still destroy teams.
But having said that I would love Jose back.

Mourinho, simply because he is a proven/talented manager, can build teams up and win trophys plus he gets right under the skin of other managers like Sir Fergle, he would hate it if Jose came back to us. Jose also has the power and reputation to bring in World Class players, I don't think he will come back unless he gets some guarantee's from Roman, first of all would be he has full control over the 1st team and has they say on transfers. Not even a chelsea fan but i'd love to see Mourinho back. I could live without Falcao in the PL but life without Jose's conferences has been hard

Apparently Josh mcEachran is ready to step into the footsteps of Frank Lampard next season

Now you don't believe that anymore than me.

He's a ten times better passer of the ball

If Lampard goes I don't see any reason why he shouldn't be given the opportunity, and if it doesn't work a midfielder could be looked at in January 2014. Holding midfielder would still be needed, but I think he can do well for Chelsea.

Shame on you not believing in him. Go watch highlights of josh v newcastle when he was 17. Then you tell me he's not the midfielder to play behind mata oscar or hazard. He's exactly what we need. BLUEBOY1

Oscar is the new Lampard

Yeah I think oscar is the new lamps maybe even de bruyne is, but we need a passer from deep like alonso-iniesta & that is mceachran. we need to play 4 3 3 again. look at the combos we could have.
* lampard mikel ramires.
* ramires mikel debruyne.
* mceachran luiz oscar.
* oscar essien lampard.
* luiz mikel ramires.
* mceachran essien lampard.
* debruyne mceachran oscar.

Do you think McEachran will make it at chelsea eds? I doubt it we need more power in the deeper roles. {Ed002's Note - We'll see.}

I stand by what I said in pre season josh and Essien looked amazing playing the two man midfield. It was perfect, covered the ground, passed forward quickly, perfect partnership.
