I think some of us Chelsea fans need to realise this is not FIFA 11 or Football Manager. If you want the top players, like we obviously do, negotiations are almost always drawn out and extremely complicated affairs.. especially when it comes to Brazilians e.g. Neymar, Ganso etc and other European players paid through 3rd party and sponsorship etc.

Chelsea WILL sign players. Personally I believe we will get Falcao, van der Weil, Pastore (more hope than expectancy) and Neymar (much the same). I also believe VB will have his eyes on other targets which may come as a bit of a surprise to us fans.

We also have to remember we are offloading players for a reason; we believe they're not good enough or do not fit our plans. It's not just Chelsea fans/management that don't see a place for Anelka, Ferreira, Bosingwa and Zhirkov in their squad. That will also take time.

Trust the manager and his team to build on our squad - keep pateint, there is no rush.

Believable7 Unbelievable8

There has to be some urgency as the new players need time to gel with the squad. Chelsea have been tracking their targets for months, and they know what is required to bring these players in. Its not like the Copa America is a big surprise to them either, they have been tracking Neymar and Pastore for months so why weren't deals done before? I understand the change in manager must have slowed down proceedings but these are 2 players that would get into any team at the moment.

I love the way that the OP emphasises that "Chelsea WILL sign players", yet then admits that that certain players are "more hope than expectancy".

Well DUH, we know that Chelsea will sign a few players this summer. It's the 2-3 big name signings that everyone is excited about. You won't see posts and questions about buying squad players, at least not near as many that you'll see ab out Neymar and Pastore.

And you forgot Malouda and Kalou on your "out" list. No post can be taken seriously without including those 2 guys...

Agree7 Disagree0

Sorry mate, it was just a general frustration at the hundreds of player posts I see when I'm on here regarding Pastore, Neymar, Modric, vDW, Lukaku, Moutinho etc when the ED's do a good job in explaining what they know a soon as they know it.
I was just trying to outline the inherent complications with signing big-name, high-status players with frustratingly complex deals with clubs, sponsors and those who own their image rights. Deals may have been done and chats held a long time ago, but they're as inclined to change their mind/price/inclination as much as anyone when no contract is signed.
As for out players, those players would obviously be on my list - Zhirkov, Ferreira, Anelka, Kalou, Bosingwa, Mikel, Malouda and a few lesser known squad/reserve players would be on my list for sure. The point was that if we want these players out because they're aged, under performing or generally bad buys, why would other people want top snap them up like some people expect so soon?
Saying that I'm sure many will leave eventually, although my list looks like a lot of players going for not a lot when we have such high-profile, troubling targets.
Sorry for any dodgy things said.

No worries mate. Well defended.

But unless rumours of clubs wanting players from your out list are being kept secret, I haven't seen too many teams who are breaking down the door for a lot of those players. I doubt that they're going to get anywhere close to what we paid for them either - a bit frustrating when you see some teams make more than 10 times profit on what they originally paid for them. Maybe Arnesen just did a cr*ppy job of buying possible super stars when they were teens? I don't know... doubt that we'll see Kakuta sold to Hamburg for £25M haha.

It looks like Falcao will sign. Don't want to imply anything but given Croatia's links with Russia and the eastern block in general, if Roman wants him he will get him and not the other way round. Which leaves one more position to be filled and that is VDW. {Ed002's Note - Croatia's links with Russia?}

Believable0 Unbelievable4

Yes Croatia was part of Yugoslavia which was part of the communist block {Ed002's Note - There are no Russian links to Croatia that would give Chelsea the right to bully Modric in to signing - this is utter nonsense.}

Agree2 Disagree5

This is turning rather political

Agree7 Disagree0

Croatia is tied up with Germany, Serbia with UK. You should know at least a little bit about history. YUGOSLAVIA WAS NOT PART OF EASTERN BLOCK YUGOSLAVIA WAS FOUNDER OF NON-ALIGNED COUNTRIES.

Agree4 Disagree1

"Ed002's Note - Croatia's links with Russia?"

I think that the bigger question is, what does the Colombian Falcao have to do with Croatia? Unless the OP changed his topic to Modric without bothering to mention him haha... {Ed002's Note - I found that odd as well. We will see.}

Chelsea team's first day back today so lets hope for a lot more activity once AVB has decided which players to get rid of and which can stay I personally feel its been dragging on a bit transfer wise but after today we should have a better idea of enterings and exits

Looks like neymars of to Madrid, pastore and sanchez to barca. Looks like a frustrating transfer window, nobody ones to come to the bridge. Ed, any good news? {Ed002's Note - There is nothing worth reporting this morning that I am aware of.}
