Didier Drogba tonight went to the extraordinary length of presenting his Chelsea team-mates from last season's Champions League final victory with individual rings to commemorate the triumph – at what is thought to be a cost of around £800,000 to the player.
Drogba hosted a dinner especially for the players who won the trophy – although the recently sacked manager Roberto Di Matteo was unable to make the occasion – and presented them as well as staff with the rings as a surprise. LEGEND.

No chance Mikel would go. Fans favourite, midfield general, he'll hopefully be a stalwart in the centre of midfield for the next ten years, breaking up play and distributing quickly.

The masterful linchpin has recently signed a new 5 year contract, lucky for us!
Numerous sides were looking to grab him so we should be delighted we tied our Nigerian stallion down to a new deal.

Model professional, loyal, and just a CFC legend.

Tim

Believable5 Unbelievable3

Midfield general and fans favourite? You gotta be kidding me he is not even up to Chelsea standards if you didnt notice our Pivot is a big problem for us.

Agree3 Disagree2

Nigerian Stallion?? He is nothing but a cluster f*~^. Cant complete 2 out of 3 passes unless you count the backwards ones. He is the main reason we need a new pivot as his transitional play is brutal at best. Nobody questions his ability to break up a play or his heart but he is too slow for style of play we want to play. Ok for a rotational squad player and depth but if there plan is a solid starter then we are wasting our money going out and getting strikers and quality as ball will never make it up to them!!!!

Gutted from last night. I thought it went down to goal difference first and then everybody kept saying that Chelsea were out. I eventually realised that it went down to head-to-head first which I thought was pretty sly. Oh well at least we have Thursday night to look forward to. I'd say add some strength in depth in January with the addition of Falcao and maybe a solid DM such as Fellaini. Hopefully light up the Europa League, smash the opposition in the Club World Cup, challenge for both domestic trophies and be right up there in the Prem come May. Look forward to the speculation of the summer transfer window and the rumours surrounding our new manager (hopefully Jose)
RT

Believable1 Unbelievable2

Fellani aint solid DM, when do people realise that :(
Fellani is having one hell of a season but he is playing ATTACKING MIDFIELD.

Agree8 Disagree0

Fellaini is a midfielder who can play any midfield role. He can line up in the middle of a 4-3-3 playing a "Lampard" role. He can play behind the striker in 4-2-3-1, or a "Mata" role, he can play in each of 4-4-2 diamond position, as well as being able to play in second striker role, or a "Rooney" role.

He is a versatile midfielder and would give our team a tremendous boost and certain different options to the team. Us fans may see things one way, or have certain wishful thinkings, but recent Mata's interview does it best: "Torres doesn't like the hold up play, which Drogba has provided. He prefers playing into space"

What i have enjoyed from the Fellaini game this season, is that he thrives in the hold-up play even without being a tip of an attack. That's another great quality of his gameplay. To me - he's the best option for Chelsea to our midfield.

Come on just imagine the Luiz-Fellaini hairdos on the pitch!

JG

Agree1 Disagree0

Fellaini, the best player in the league this season imo. Lee.

Everyones talking about getting Mourinho or Guardiola for next season but what about Jurgen Klopp? He has been wonderful at Dortmund and I've even put a cheeky bet on them to win the CL.

Hopefully now Mikel's banned for 3 games we will see Romeu get a lot stronger playing regularly. But I still think is we haven't got a ball winner since we had Ballack. Fellaini is probably the only person that could fill that role if we can get him for below 25 million because I believe were lacking more in midfield than up top but it will be a struggle.

Torres is unlikely to leave in January so instead of going for a Falcao/Cavani and spending big wouldn't it be best to go for a cut price striker who is close to the end of his contract for example Lewandowski or Llorente I would prefer Lewandowski because of his pace which would adjust him to the premier league more especially since he's only 24 and was linked with United for just 12 million. Then recall Lukaku so we have a decent amount of cover.

January Targets:

In:

Lewandowski
Fellaini
Wallace - Already agreed

Out:

Hilario
Ferreira
Mikel - praying to god he goes.
Malouda
Sturridge

Believable5 Unbelievable0

Why not make a cheeky little bid for Huntelaar? :P

Peds

Agree3 Disagree0

1. Lawamdowski is not gonna leave for 12m that is just jurnalism rubbish and im 99.9% sure he wont be moving in January either.

2. Fellani we dont need him we got plenty of attacking midfielders we actually have 3 and no Fellani aint playing DM or CM, this season where he is doing great cause they moved him further up the pitch.

3. Mikel just signed a 5 year contract so he aint gonna leave in the next 3 years atleast, withless he wants too ofc.

4. We need a CM/DM with good ball technique and that could possible be, Paulinho, Capoue, Fernando.

5. We need a striker and i guess the most possible target who is avaible is Bony and Llorente.

I think there's more of a chance that Mourinho will arrive at Chelsea than Pep, but if I'm perfectly honest I can see neither of them arriving. So who could we get, well I'm a huge fan of Jurgen Klopp, and I absolutely love his style of football he creates at Dortmund. Apart from him, I'm unsure to who else is available.

PR!

Believable2 Unbelievable1

Jurgen Klopp will not entertain Chelsea. He appreciates a strong supportive club structure and Chelsea do not offer that. Best bet is John Terry as player manager. Chelsea's hiring and firing reputation is starting to hurt now. The best managers will keep away.

@ED002; Could you pls tell us the positions we are looking out to strenghthen come january, and some of the players we are hoping to buy to fill-in such positions? Thanks for ur time.
JDENNIK {Ed002's Note - The club is most keen to bring in a couple of forwards and continues to show an interest in those players that have been well publicised - Falcao, Cavani, Schurrle, Bony etc.. That remains the priority, but if players are not available the club will not buy for the sake of it. At some poing a midfield player or two will arrive but there is no immediate rush for January.}

Believable1 Unbelievable0

Cheers for replying to that post ed, hope we don't get bony as we have lukaku and shurrle is not a out and out striker and not a winger so wouldn't see point, my choices would be cavani falcao lewondoski llorente, either of them

Ed when you say a couple of forwards, 2 being a couple I take it it's bony or schurrle, cavani or falcao, so 1 experienced striker 1 up and coming younger type, I don't see us signing falcao and cavani for near 100mill , or signing to youngsters who are not really proven at the top top level, am I rite in assuming this ed? , cheers

I can not believe some of you. It looks as though there are only a handful of people posting in here. All blaming RDM, exactly after two weeks, when everyone was slating the board for sacking him. What the hell? And you expect some consistency from your club?

How long until you start praising Rafa now? Or hailing Torres? What if he scores against Sunderland? Get some consistency would you? Had we progressed to CL knockouts, what difference would this seriously mean?

You play to win it, not to drop out sooner or later. I understand the financial difference it makes, but seriously - we won it in May. You must have a brain of a chicken and a memory of a bean to talk this b*******. Such a shame, can't believe you lot.

Chelsea made wholesale changes to the squad and left the unfinished business. Di Mateo was given those players and had to deal with what he has got. Team is in a transition period. Another 4-5 will change in the summer again and some will be added in January. It requires time.

JG

Believable7 Unbelievable4

Top draw post JG! A lot of people with very short memories and little appreciation for one of the greats of the club.

Everyone wants to believe that we are going to challenge this year, but it is very wishful thinking when the squad is being overhauled.

I for one will not be changing my tune on Rafa. Couldn't care what he achieves at our club, he is a better manager than RDM but not a better bloke.

Its funny how everyone was asking for RDM to rotate the squad and give Hazard a crack up front, he does it, gets slated for tactics on here and gets sacked. Rafa gets brought in, slated, fails to win games, we get knocked out of CL, RDM blamed (rightly) and all of a sudden people are on the Rafa bandwagon. Although I am starting to get the feeling, other than the regulars, and some new posters, the majority of unnamed fickle posters are just kids.

@Melbourne CFC.... Im new to this site as of summer 2012. I think you can tell who the kids are.....Very stupid comments from little boys.....But a lot of cfc fans disagree with each other, on player personal, management and board level...You only have to go to the Bridge and you'll see fans are split 50/50... Some like Mikel some dont......Lets all forget about the managers situation and support CHELSEA FC! A win against sunderland will se us close the gap on one manchester team if not both..... P.S Melbourne, glad you stay up to watch the games, keep it up mate.....DJ

Agree0 Disagree2

Everyone can have there opinnions on rdm, me personally thought he should not have been appointed last summer i think roman may have been pressured into it by the champs league success but deep down i bet he knew he would not be good enough for the job long term, like i say everyone has there views believe it or not. TOMCFC.

Agree2 Disagree0

I agree that everyone can have their own opinions on RDM as a manager Tom, but it's when they call him a loser and slate him as a person that I take offence. They obviously have no understanding or appreciation for what he had done for the club as both a player and manager.

Thanks DJ, I won't be stopping anytime soon, as hard as it can sometimes be.

It was against a poor pub team but here we go.....

Cech....Solid,no mistakes made,not much to do 7/10
Cole.....again solid,worked very hard,played well 8/10
Luiz.....Best game ever in a chelsea shirt, cool as you like on the ball, and no mistakes!! looked good in CM aswell 9/10
Cahill....again cool as you like on the ball, stands off far to much for my liking, needs to get stuck in more 7/10
Ivan....Worst game of the season, much better at center back,Azpili to play on sat 6/10
Romeu....His best game of the season, passing supurb, needs to work on his speed and tackling 7/10
Ramires....done his usual job, nothing more to say 7/10
Hazard.....pure class, shame about the pen miss 9/10
Mata....A god in set ball situations, link up play with Hazard,Moses and Torres top draw! 8/10
Moses.....Well well well, didnt think he was that good!! now i know why he's keeping Oscar out the team, very good work rate, skill and composed on the ball 8/10
And Finaly Torres....Best game in 3 years!!! 9 shots in 1 game!! feck me!! 9/10

But like i said, this was against a very poor pub team. DJ

I was at the game last night and have to say that I thought Torres was awful. instead of creating spaces and dragging defenders with him, he lacked any real movement at all. when he did make a run it was usually into the space where Mata was.
Yes he scored 2 goals but that was mainly down Mata, Hazard & Romeu (who i thought was outstanding).
I dont get to the Bridge as much as I would like and generally can only make a view on players via TV coverage, as do a lot of you!
Torres is definately worse in the flesh..
Shame SKY dont do player cam anymore.

People slating RDM need to think again. Personally i think he done a great job. I think his sacking was a bit premature. He should of been given the job until either pep or jose where available.(hopefully jose.) We have struggled because we have lost a 25-30 goals a season power house in drogba. 25-30 goals a season in lampard due to injurys. Plus terrys leadership again due to injury/suspension. Our main objective now should be to get at least a top four finish in the league. I would also like to see us take the europa league serious as its still a top trophy, but if it starts to effect our league form then that turns into an issue. I hope our transfer targets are not effected by tonights outcome. I will support the team but i still cannot believe rafa is in charge. The quicker next season comes the better.

NWBLUE

Believable2 Unbelievable8

Last season drogba didn't score 25 30 goals he scored important goals! Under RDM even if we scored few goals we always looked like conceding and he set out his team which everyone knew before game and he had n plan bed he is a legend for bringing us the champ league but look at him as manager.. We finished outside top 4 with him,

Agree7 Disagree1

Yes we did finish out of top four, by sacrificing league position we won champions league. RDM also took over from boas and turned the club around so people stop with all the negative rubbish towards RDM. People got there wish and he was sacked and look at who we have now!

Believable6 Unbelievable3

Never forget! After what he said about us he should never have been aloud near our club, it's a sad day when all our new so called supporters accept him. The last thing we need is him doing anything good while in charge we may well end up lumbered with him longer than the rest of this season.

Positives for me:
1. Luiz now a better player. 2. Torres scored and looked a bit more confident. 3. Love the squad rotation. 4. Hazard's back to his game. 5. Luiz in midfield? Not bad. 6. Mikel on the bench at most. 7. A boost of confidence to carry on the season.
