Hi everyone, just wanted people's opinions on the striker situation. Click agree if you would get rid of Torres to buy Falcao. Click Disagree if you think they could be in the squad together. Comment if you don't want Falcao. Personally, Falcao is so much more consistent, clearly a better striker, and 2 years younger so I think we should just cut our losses with Torres and buy Falcao.
Agree = Buy Falcao, Sell Torres
Disagree = Buy Falcao, Keep Torres
Comment = Keep Torres and Don't buy falcao
Believable12

Lets put it this way.. would Torres have taken the chances that Falcao took on Friday?
GK
Agree4

Out of the five Torres could have taken atleast three chances.Falcao missed two from point blank range.Except his second goal which was a very good finish the other two were rather easy chances.
roan
Agree2

I reckon he would have passed the first falcao goal and passed the second and scored the third? carPetman
Agree2

Behave roan out of 5 chances torres would not get 3 hes not on the same level as falcao
curt
Agree2
Disagree0
Curt ,did you see the chances Falcao got.If Torres would have passed the first and the second he would have scored the two Falcoa missed.Just because Falcao missed does not mean that Torres will miss.Just because Messi missed a penalty does not mean that others will miss a penalty. You are seriously underestimating Torres.Falcao 's current form may be better than Torres's but he still has someway to go to be anywhere near the level Torres has achieved through out his career. If Torres reaches the level that he had achieved at Liverpool and he has shown all the signs of doing that then we are in for a treat.Lets all hope he does that.At his peak among current players I would only consider Drogba, Villa ,RVP as his equals in terms of strikers.
Falcao still has to do this consistently for the coming seasons to be anywhere near that level. He has the potential.
As I said form is temporary abut class is permanent.Torres has class and he is proving it.Stop being disrespectful.
roan
Agree1
Disagree1
Its not being disrespectful its facing facts that falcao is a hell of a lot better than torres
look at falcaos career hes been doing what he does since he started so how you can say he needs to carry on doing it for a few years to be near torres is ridiculous
dont get me wrong id love torres back to his best but it still doesnt make him better than falcao

I hope he does but Torres will never be the same player.

Falcao has been banging in goals for his entire career so far but up until last season it was in the Portugese league. I believe what roan is saying is that Falcao will need to carry on performing now that he's in a better league. Yes he had a good first season at atletico but there have been lots of players who suffer from second season syndrome. Whereas Torres started his career in Spain and up until Chelsea bought him, was regarded as one of the best and most prolific strikers in the world and constantly performed year in year out. Now that Torres is finding his confidence, you'll see that he'll be getting back to his best in no time. I agree with roan that Torres would have probably scored 3 out of the 5 chances that Falcao had. Whereas I don't think Falcao would have done any better in Torres' place. He lacked the service from our midfield.

Finally curt post's something I agree with.
It's taken the best part of a year but better late than never.
Cfcmatt.
Agree1

Very true.Until that midfield is sorted out we are going to be very reliant on the front three and they will have to do it on their own.But that midfield needs sorting quickly ,the way we give the ball away at the center of the park is painful to watch and it give us absolutely no control over the pace of the game.It going to be troublesome against the likes of Man u,City etc.
Playing a defensive formation with Bertrand on the wings just to compensate for the lack of quality in the middle is frustrating ,considering the amount of flair players we have now.
Hope the front three live up to their early promise and keep banging them in.

Falcao: 2 europa leagues, 2 portuguese championships, one portuguese cup, one supercup
Torres: 2 euro's, 1 world cup, 1 champions league, 1 FA cup
the competions won clearly show the class, i still do agree that falcao is better but torres top level is better than falcaos

Gudjohnsen, Drogs, Nico, and Ballack are all potentially available for short term contracts.
What do you guys think about signing them up to fill in the holes that are present in the squad at least for a short time?
In their day you know they were some of the best players to wear a blue shirt so i don't question that their ability is top draw bar pace which i'm sure has waned. It won't be bad for a Ballack type player to teach Piazon or Romeu how to become more complete players.
I picked these four because they all have links with the club and would be willing to give their all for it.
Believable2
Unbelievable3
Personally i wouldnt mind seeing Anelka on a 93 day emergency loan until January, he could be our 3rd choice striker, bring experience and cover to a position we are lacking in. Hes always been a good finisher and still has some pace.
PB {Ed002's Note - That is not possible.}

I didn't know we had so many holes that we need four players past there prime. Having said that i would love to see Ballack in a Chelsea shirt again, he was fantastic.

Essien and Ballack are completely different players. But no to them all ,people seem to forget we have Oscar,he may not be a defensive midfielder, but he can easily play in Lampard's position.I also have not seen him bullied off the ball till now ,which is contradiction to what some people think .

if you made it as a pro playing for chelsea and being the die hard chelsea fans we are, your on 20 grand a week and madrid offer you 120 grand a week but chelsea will only offer to give you 40 grand maximum, which option do you take ??

Id go to madrid but make sure the fee is high so chelsea can benefit from the transfer. then make a return towards the end of my career and have an emotional moment saying how it was my boyhood club etc etc.
this wouldnt happen though because im sure if youre good enough for madrid chelsea would try to renegotiate a contract with you at a suitable price. would take 80-100k a week from chelsea than 120-150k a week from madrid any day.

Was there any truth that we made a formal approach for Alessandro Del Piero before he decided upon Sydney because if we did it would seem to indicate what an unattractive prospect we (LFC) have now become even to 'has been' stars. {Ed002's Note - There was interest shown by Liverpool but as you would expect none by the player.}

What happened to alex and anelka has now happened to malouda
Was it avb the axed the two before?
Or is there someone else running the club on the inside?
Is the fact that alot of big players have been pushed away over summer had an impact on the team, and that why they played so poorly in france on friday ?
Believable1
Unbelievable7
U really need to stop adding 2+2 and getting 7. It sounds like Malouda had plenty of time to sort a deal but he wouldn't lower his wage demands. It's his own fault, he could of moved. If a player isn't part of the first team plans then why should he train with the first team, would you really wanna read a new report that Malouda broke Hazards leg in training?

I agree, it could well have been the uncertainty and the way players were moved out that upset the team on Friday. Sturridge wasn't on the initial team sheet and Essien disappeared. I'd love to have heard the discussion that leg to Malouda having to train with the reserves. I do however agree that he could have dropped his demands. He's spent sometime with the club and should be respected for that regardlessly.

Your statement:
Is the fact that alot of big players have been pushed away over summer had an impact on the team, and that why they played so poorly in france on friday ?

no big players other than drogba left this summer and we have been fine in the league so your theory had completely lost any credit because we couldnt be bothered to play properly on friday that is all

I think it was more to do with the fact that Athletico had us up against the rack with the early goals and pressure and we were chasing the game from the off..
nothing to do with players being shipped out.

Spot on gk, Athletico are a damn good side and with a striker with finishing as clinical as Falcao all it took was 1 or 2 slip ups and you we got punished big time. Nothing at all to do with players leaving, it happens every year at every club so why would they throw their toys out the pram over Makouda? We were simply out played as you say.

They are a good team who played very well and wanted the title. We are a great team that never showed up.It was not only the early goals. It was the way we started from the start ,we were very lethargic and the players looked to have their mind elsewhere.

With Malouda not leaving Chelsea, as windows are all closed now, and him not being considered worthy of being in our Champions League squad, can we expect to see the reincarnation of Winston Bogarde?
For those too young to remember, he was a Dutch defender that we signed from Barcelona in 2000. He spent four years with us, making 9 appearances and drawing £40,000 a week wages (big for that time). We became a bit of a laughing stock in the media over it. Presumably we could make Malouda a free agent and let him sort himself a deal, but how desperate are the club to get shot of him? The CL squad is a big clue I reckon.
Bluey {Ed002's Note - This is pretty offensive to Malouda and making him a free agent now does not make him abloe to sign for another club.}
Believable0

Some would say being left out of the CL squad was pretty offensive to Malouda.
Agree1

Leaving him in CL squad would be rude to the fans.
Melbourne CFC
Agree8
Disagree4
The reason it is offensive to Malouda is because Winston Bogarde sat in the reserves for his entire Chelsea career. Malouda has been part of successful Chelsea squads, and at points during his time at the club has found good form (such as the 2009/10 double winning season). The club are obviously happy to let him go, but his wages are prohibitive. Malouda has played over 200 games for the club, I understand he is not the most popular player at the club now but try showing a bit more respect.

Actually Ive seen this before with and arrogant ignorant manager with Anelka and Alex. Now what RDM has done to malouda is disgusting. Malouda was a vital part of our double winning season with ancelotti. Now flo is training with the u21. You can't just do that. And not only malouda but the whole Essien thing. Disgrace is all I think. BLUEBOY1

Essen was injured an then failed to find form again, hence not getting a regular first team role. Loaning him out to help him find form/a new lease of life was, to me, a showing by the club that they want a fully-fit, in form Essien to bring back to the club.

Chelsea will sign jovetic/schurlle in january. if falcao scores against chelsea due to foolishness of david luiz, it does not mean he would be signed. he is very costly and FFP rule coming. he will demand high wages also. jovetic/schurlle will demand considerably less fee than him.
