chill out guys have faith, im not sure he will leave, i seen an interview weeks ago saying he will have preseason with chelsea, i don't think azp will play cb next season, i think conte only done it last year because he only had terry for the first half of the season, we didn't even sign luiz until the last day of the window so we were really short, eds right alonso played left cb for florentina, and could do a job for us there, but if we don't sign another left back, alonso isn't playing anywhere apart from lb, i have read that conte wants azpi as aright back and was forced last season for him going cb, so as we stand terry and ake move out and rudieger and Christensen come in, if zouma does go on loan even though he said last week he isn't then we only have 4 cbs, and 2 full backs who have played cb in the past, i could be wrong but i can't see us selling or loaning any defenders they will all get enough playing time next season.

Christian is very highly rated at our club. He is contracted till June 2020. He will join squad for preseason and then Conte will have a look at the player.
I don't think he will be leaving because he is a good CB plus he is homegrown as we have already allowed two homegrown players to leave: Begovic and Ake.

With rudgier looking imminent and possibly Sandra coming and no sign of any defensive player leaving. what are people's and eds thoughts on Christiansen staying as he wants guaranteed playing time .
Also with Ruben neves going to wolves for a reasonable price after we've been watching him I hope the thought process is we've got as good in our youth ranks .
Any thoughts both Eds and fellow blues .

i read yesterday that azp will mostly play his proper position as right back, and that leaves 5 players for 3 positions, that's what conte wants -rudieger -luiz-cahill-zouma-Christiansen, if that is true Christiansen can't leave without anybody coming in or we will only have 4 cbs.

Zouma might go on loan which is best for all parties - he will get more game time and it gives Christensen more oppertubities.

That is what I thought he will want to leave .
but what is the answer turn Gary Cahill out a steady premiership proven centre back for a young exciting prospect with no prem experience unless Cesar plays wingback but even then 4 into 3 doesn't go and conte doesn't rotate and why should he after last year's success.

Christensen likely to go, Ed?! That'd be horrible decision making by the club. Like really flippin astonishingly bad. How the hell do you sell one of the best young CBs in Europe?
We only have Moses for RWB, so move Azpi to RWB. Then you've got Cahill, Luiz, Rüdiger and Christensen for 3 CB spots (as Zouma will likely be loaned) . 4 players for 3 spots doesn't seem like too much, and every CB should see plenty of game time. What is the matter with our club? :- (.

{Ed001's Note - sadly it is the way it is, they have to be a Messi/Ronaldo level talent to make it at the club these days. Though they can be brought back later when they have gathered the experience and are ready.}

Apzi at wingback isn't the best he is ok going forward but not outstanding and he needs to be 1 on 1 with players rather than pressing out wide .

Christensen is a better defender than Alonso surely ed001 at CB?
would it be a loan or sell?

dont get me wrong i feel sorry for Alonso and Cahill. Fans do need to show. more respect . Cahill has achieved a lot since his move from Bolton. and as for Alonso he has proved everyone wrong last year. wasnt for him we wouldn't have changed to 343.

Yeah, Alonso can cover there if necessary but AC is by far the better CB. I'd argue he's probably a better CB in our system than Cahill as well. This would be stupidity of monumental proportions. We have a young stud rejoining the team, and then we kindly sell him for what? 20 million? That money gets us nowhere near a player of comparable quality and talent.

Why do you say that it looks like he'll have to be sold? Are his dad and AC himself giving the club an ultimatum? And is Inter the likely destination then?

Is there any point in our youth system in the past before RA you can understand has the facility's were not there this is the first real crop of top talent and were selling them all or letting there contracts run down look at all they have won you can't win much more in the youth stages and still are not given a fair chance it just boggles my mind and then same can be said of young players we buy but don't implement who go on to be worth loads Look at KDB Lukaku Salah even if you take that 100 mil we've made from selling youth who have hardly played all that talent is wiped out and some effectivly buy rebuying lukaku its madness how can that be good bussiness the way we deal with transfers and youth needs to be looked at imo.

He should back himself and fancy himself at Chelsea then. Cahill isn't world class by any means. Cahill is turning 32 in December while Luiz is 30 already. They won't be here forever.
I'm positive he'd be able to get a starting spot. It's a damn shame if he truly wants to leave because he isn't "guaranteed" a starting spot. A guy like Süle is ecstatic to join Bayern, who already have Hummels and Boateng, 2 world class CBs. A top talent like Rugani is willing to be a rotational player at Juve while Bonucci, Barzagli and Chiellini take up starting duties (not to mention Benatia being there as well) . Why is it that our players aren't willing to fight for it for at least 1 season. He could easily reassess his situation in January or next summer if Conte doesn't give him a chance.

Couldn't agree more Jackson. He's without a doubt one of the best young CBs in the world, selling him be the stupidest transfer decision we've made, in several years. That being said, I agree that he should stay and fight for his place, rather than demanding game time. If he ends up being sold, I really do hope we implement a buy-back clause.

agree jackson i don't think it would be to hard for him to impress conte in preseason, the same way moses and chalobah stayed after years of loans, im still confident he will have a good preseason show conte he's better in a back 3 than cahill, better passer ect and stay.

Looking at it from his point of view he is a confident lad with 2 years 1st team experience and played European football in his mind why should he be a bit player if we were to pay 35 mill for him like rutgier we would expect him to start.
