Drinkwater, Van Dijk, Sandro, Candreva/ Chamberlain would be a super end to the window.
05 Aug 2017 16:51:32
Candreva's agent has said he won't be moving unfortunately.
{Ed002's Note - Candreva's agent was only told yesterday (by a representative of l'OM) that Inter have been negotiating for his replacement and that came as a surprise to him.}

Is the replacement Emre Mor? Poor Agent, being told by a third-party your client isn't wanted!
{Ed002's Note - Yes.}

Also Ed, sorry if you don't want to answer this about finances. But it seems (true or not) that Chelsea feel the need to balance the books? I know we operate a 1 in 1 out policy, is this down to the new stadium or just that we don't want to get our fingers burnt like we have done in the past with high profile signings? We all know Diego is off and must admit I'm very surprised he's still at the club.
Anyway the question was, I thought Chelsea were doing pretty well with the financial side of things, is this still the case? And have we now finished seeing us trying to sign the best of the best players? Now going for players with potential and maybe a re-sale
Value (I hate that term, I really do! ) . 👍🏼.
{Ed002's Note - I have no idea what you are talking about Adam. You seem to be making things up.}

I really don't get this overwhelming discontent at the prospect of signing Danny Drinkwater. I mean, the guy ran the midfield with a certain N'Golo Kante in what was the most epic title win in premier league history (Bar Chelsea's first of course)
Granted he isn't "deemed" world class. But he's the sort of midfielder you want playing on a cold rainy Monday night in Stoke. Let's also use the home grown quota as a positive. I'm not sure how real our interest really is (I'm sure the Eds can fill us in on that aspect) but I'm viewing him, if signed, as a massive positive.

He's a decent player, but nothing more than that. Leicester as a whole had a fairytale season, and last season showed their true level. Mahrez I've never rated as highly as most, not even when he won player of the season. He as well showed his true level last season. Morgan and Huth the same. They seemed impenetrable during the fairytale season, yet last season showed they're really not as good as that.
Drinkwater was good in a very defensive and reactionary system. That's it. Chelsea are required to set the tempo and play in a proactive system most of the games. I doubt he'd help us with that. If you want to sign another Leicester midfielder then Ndidi is the guy we should get. He's raw but can be exceptional in a destroyer role.

Jackson, this is probably first time I am going to disagree with you but you clearly haven't watched the lad play many games. He isn't world class but is a quality player, has an eye for a goal and can make a killer pass. Don't really knoe how well he will do in a team who is attacking rather than counter attacking (as leicester play without the ball most of times) but he can defend as well as create and will be a great addition to our squad.

Morning Eds, it seemed to myself when watching Conte's press conference yesterday is that all is not well at the Bridge. He didn't seem too happy with selling Matic, we all know he's fed up due to the lack of squad filling. Is there any reason to be a little worried by this or is this all just games with the board? I know transfers are never an easy thing to deal with and they all take time. But can you see Antonio getting to the point of resigning if not backed? The man is a born winner and would be a shame to lose someone of his calibre. Many thanks. Would love to know if you have any insight in to this and sorry for the long winded post. Have a good weekend.

Big news coming this weekend, can feel it, also what's your guys predictions for tomorrow, I think morata is going to score off the bench, think 2-1 Chelsea.
05 Aug 2017 13:34:27
I want us to smash them :-P realistically I think we'll lose actually. Conte will play Fab and Kante as a pairing in midfield and they'll waltz right through that. It's the main reason we've lost those last 2 preseason games. Fab makes our midfield very open defensively.
I myself would actually play Luiz next to Kante in midfield tomorrow. If Conte does that I think we'll win.

Good call and personally I have always felt midfield is his best position. and on a fiery day, less dangerous!
