Just wondered if others views were same as mine.
We are turning into the new Arsenal.
The reason I say that is we seem to have lost the ability to shoot. Like arsenal we want one more pass trying to walk it in.
We also seem short of options going forward if Eden is not on the ball.

I would have agreed with you prior to yesterday's match in terms of not shooting enough but the performance against Stoke was a big improvement all round. 19 shots 10 on target and on another day could have scored 4 or 5. Apart from a moment of brilliance and N'zonzi hitting the post from 20+ yards Chelsea seemed untroubled.

In terms of options going forward I thought Willian had a good game. Yes his end product is not always there but he works tirelessly for the team and always tries to beat the fullback and get a cross in. I think the problem is playing Oscar. The guy is so much out of form that I wouldn't play him, although Mourinho seems to have his favourite players as him and Cahill seemed to start regardless of how poorly they are performing (may be just my feelings) I would play Willian behind the striker and give Cuadrado a run on the right wing as he can do no worse than Oscar.

I think one of our biggest weaknesses is that we don't have a player that can shoot from deep and have a realistic chance of putting it in the back of the net. In the past we had lampard, essien, and ballack who were all more than capable of this. This is one of the biggest reasons I feel like Pogba would be a massive addition. This ability has become somewhat of a lost art recently with it being pretty rare to see someone capable of this.

a very defensively minded arsenal maybe

How many long range goals did essien actually hit? I think people just remember the ones against Barcelona and Arsenal and make out he did it all the time which is far from the truth.

Dizle.quite true. I love Essien and he was a great player but his long range shots were more hit and hope. No real control of them. He would put his laces behind them and see wherebthe ball ended up. Sometimes GOAL!! Most if the time in the crowd at the back.Still a great player in his time

Just watching Andre Gomes. He seems a very good player, the Ballack type player we are missing. He's not afraid to have a go from outside the box either which is one thing were missing. He also likes to move the ball forward quickly also which i'm a fan of. I think it would be a much cheaper alternative to Pogba. And he wouldn't have to worry about not getting a game either with Oscar playing poor. A 4-3-3 with Andre Gomes, Matic and Fabregas would have it all, power and creativity. I also think it would benefit Cesc with added power around him in the middle giving him a bit more freedom.

Believable8 Unbelievable0

{Ed018's Note - this is exactly what I'd like to see happen. Gomes, Pogba or Koke. Any one of those 3 put in there with Matic and Fabregas and you have a very well balanced center midfield}

05 Apr 2015 16:52:26
I really like Koke too. But I'd prefer Gomes or Pogba, preferably Gomes (cheaper). I don't think Koke would offer us the height, power and long range shot that Gomes and Pogba could. A strong, well drilled player though.

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed018's Note - I don't really think you could go wrong with any one of those 3. I really can't even pick and tell you which one I'd prefer at this point, but for me this is the way forward and a must. Couple that with Varane and another forward and Chelsea is good to go}

05 Apr 2015 17:05:45
Fully agreed. Any of those 3 midfielders would add a lot to our team. I do have a slight preference for Pogba or Gomes over Koke, but that's just because they're taller and perhaps physically stronger because of it. Though thinking about it Koke can't be a pushover either as he plays for Simeone :)
It would also allow Mourinho to perhaps rotate the central midfielders a bit more so that they don't run out of steam by the end of the season.

And maybe a new GK? I wouldn't mind Rob Green because of his experience. I'd like to see us go for David Marshall though. Best GK in the league last year IMO yet he's still playing for Cardiff.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed018's Note - well yea, they will need a new backup but that doesn't really excite me}

05 Apr 2015 17:17:06
YES! Love to see Matic, Fabregas, Andre Gomes, Loftus-Cheek and either Chalobah/Ake as our midfield options next year.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed018's Note - probably still need Ramires or Mikel in there as well for some depth}

P05 Apr 2015 17:40:26
I think that would be enough and both HG. Then we would have Hazard, Willian, Cuadrado, Oscar and 1 more for me at AM either Traore (although unlikely) or Izzy Brown. don't want Douglas Costa.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed018's Note - I wouldn't be suprised to see Oscar go this summer. Sounds like Douglas Costa has a good chance of joining}

05 Apr 2015 18:30:12
Where do you think Oscar might move then, Ed?
I've seen Ed002 claim that Barcelona and Real Madrid (not sure on that one though) are both interested in Douglas Costa as well, so there must be something there that most Chelsea fans on here don't realise :)
I just wanna see Traore back either next year, or at the latest the year after that. He's going to be class, and you don't have to be a brilliant scout to see that :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed018's Note - Juventus has shown interest in Oscar}

05 Apr 2015 19:48:26
Any of those 3 would be perfect. Agree with you ED018, we need Mikel and/or Rami as back up together with RLC. Douglas Costa WILL join so let's get behind him and TRUST the club on player recruitment. A top striker is needed to replace Drogba and hopefully Varanne at CB. Not sure about Green as back up keeper though.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Apr 2015 20:12:20
Why is a top striker needed to replace Drogba? He's 3rd choice and has been very poor. I'd prefer to see Solanke or Bamford take his place.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Apr 2015 20:56:09
Because we are Chelsea and to go to the next level we need a top striker as real competition to Costa. Drogba started the season as 2nd choice. I like Remi a lot but he may well leave in the summer. Dom Solanke is 17!! Not ready yet. Bamford will likely spend another year on loan, hopefully in the premier with Middlesbrough. ED02 has explained who our striker targets are.

Welshchels: I agree we need to start getting some of the youth playing time but, if we was in the semi final of the CL next season and had a suspension, would your rather see Rami next to say; Koke and Cesc or RLC? If we sold Mikel and Oscar and went to a 4-3-3 , then Koke, Cesc, Matic and Rami, with a RLC or Ake would be good cover. I'm all for getting home grown players through, just want to win trophies too! Zouma will get more minutes next season and I think RLC probably will too, other than that I think we will sell a couple ie: Oscar and Mikel with Drogba retiring and JT maybe playing less. Then we will add 2 possibly 3 top draw signings. Ed18, do you think Bamford would be considered as a third choice striker? Another season loaned out in the EPL and we could have our very own Harry Kane! Bamford is tearing up the championship this season!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed018's Note - I think Bamford needs a loan in the EPL next season. Hopefully with Boro if they get promoted}

05 Apr 2015 22:25:17
I see what you mean blue is the color but I think RLC has shown more promise In 10 minutes against sporting than what Ramires has shown all season. RLC Is getting praised all the time by people all around Europe saying that he would already be in other teams starting like a team that brings youth through like a Southampton or Atletico Madrid. Atletico are the perfect example of winning trophies whilst rotating with youth. In January they played madrid in the Copa Del Rey. 2 youth products Lucas Hernandez a LB and Saul Niguez started that game and they won 2-0. If you played RLC next to Matic and Cesc in a 4-3-3 I reckon we'd play great.

I having heard much about Lucas piazon this season are there any plans for him next season and would he be classed as home grown

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed018's Note - I don't think he has shown enough to be in the Chelsea team next season. He doesn't start regularly for Frankfurt. I'd guess another loan or possibly sold if a good offer comes in and he's ready to move on}

05 Apr 2015 13:46:32
Really happy with the win, and glad to see Eden tap the crest on the jersey when he scored, the dude isn't just becoming a really great player but also on his way to becoming a true blue and a club legend.

Ps. Matic also had a great game, now let's finish strong.

05 Apr 2015 14:05:04
Hazard could easily become a Chelsea legend. I can't imagine the club will ever want to sell him. He doesn't even rely on speed to get past players, so he won't lose much potency once his speed starts to diminish. Hazard himself just has to want to stay. He's improved every year he's been with Chelsea, and as you said right now he's playing at a very very high level. He truly is a joy to watch, and I'm starting to realise that more and more :)

Agree2 Disagree0

05 Apr 2015 13:41:54
If Oscar were to leave who would we look to replace him with?

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed018's Note - Chelsea are interested in Pogba, Koke, and Andre Gomes. I believe if one of these players are brought in and Oscar ends up leaving it'll mean Fabregas will be pushed up a bit further}

05 Apr 2015 03:36:42
Hazard and Willian were fantastic yesterday. Hazard quite simply is now up there with the world's best and certainly the premier player of the year. Willian has a lot of doubters but he is that good we would miss him if he went, believe me. Jose and his team really do know best.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

05 Apr 2015 10:40:29
Willian is okay, the problem is I don't think he should be first choice if we had signed someone with a bit more quality, I feel Willian wouldn't be starting most games. That said he played really well yesterday still lacking in end product, hugely. I don't him just feel he should be one of those players that play a lot of games but not just a regular starter.

Ps. Cuadrado looks really awful, it has nothing to do with him just signing, the dude looks really lost can't, do anything with the ball.

Agree0 Disagree1

05 Apr 2015 12:24:25
Have to agree with you hazard was best player on the pitch by mile. And willia were superb in second half when he was moved centrally

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Apr 2015 13:08:04
Willian looked great

I've laughed at some of the things Caud has done! But I'm willing to give him time :)

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed018's Note - Willian played very good through the middle in the second half, much better than Oscar has been playing. Cuadrado is obviously gonna need a full preseason to get settled in. He is struggling big time. Would've been nice if he could've scored when he had the chance. It would've been good for his confidence}

05 Apr 2015 13:30:39
Where cuadro hasn't been great I think he is an out and out wide player and Chelsea's system dooesnt suit that I watched him closely and Ivan kept running into his space
He will need a full pre season do get used to the way the team plays and the team to find him I think we should give him to Christmas .
On a note to the eds do you think that swap deals will become more common with ffp coming into play
Cheers

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed018's Note - I doubt it, swap deals are very uncommon and I don't really see that changing any time soon}

05 Apr 2015 00:07:39
That was a LONG LONG night I tell ya, hazard was simply brilliant, Caud wasn't too good, but not bad either

We march on!

16 points to win! Let's do it

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Cuad was really really bad

Agree2 Disagree1

05 Apr 2015 13:16:49
I thought Cuadrado's movement was actually pretty good. But he seems lost on the ball. He's not able to take on any player right now and I hope that next year we'll see the real Cuadrado, as he's obviously capable of playing much better.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed018's Note - sure his movement was fine, and he tried to keep the field stretched and provide width on that right side, but he certainly isn't used to the speed of the game in England yet. Lets hope after a full preseason he is ready to go}

05 Apr 2015 14:07:08
Spot on, Ed. Every time he tries to dribble he gets brushed off the ball and he looks a bit surprised by the speed of the defenders. It's like he doesn't expect them to get back and defend once he passes them.
