The reason hazard played in a false 9 was only because Conte wanted special dispensation to play 2 goalies from FIFA but the paperwork wasn't sorted in time
He wanted willy to play as a false 1 with tibo.

Set up like cowards and deservedly lost the game. Said i was confident ahead of this game as long as we set up correctly and didn't pay them too much respect, i guess that teaches me to have faith in this team. We set up not to get thrashed and had no intention to get anything from it.
Made changes way too late once again, Hazard ineffective due to playing out of position once again. As soon as they scored we should have changed it up at least, not wait till the 80th minute to do something! I'd rather have been thrashed and gone for it than that embarrassing performance. Credit to City though, deserved champions.

Totally agree with LondonBlues90, we are all worrying about Hazard n Courtois signing new contracts, don't worry, on that performance they will b running in to the arms of Real Madrid. Who could blame them.

To be honest, it was his demeanour last season. He brought with him some class (something I felt we’d been lacking since Carlo) . Winning the PL didn’t hurt, either.
I realise now that I like Conte the man rather than Conte the coach.

Can’t recall seeing a gulf in class like that, other than the home game against city, in my lifetime. Totally outplayed and parked the bus like it was the late Jose days. No big striker killed us again especially as all we did was lump the ball up. No player looked up for it and we were beaten from the first whistle.
Painful to watch and something has to change. Subs were made far too late to have any impact. Giroud or Morata has to start from now on and we might actually have some threat going forward. So sloppy, could barely string two passes together.
Not confident for top 4 at all after that but we have a few home games lined up now to pick up points.

Rudiger is usually better on the ball but with no time he can't find anyone, hazard so isolated, painful. Would have pedro false 9 and hazard wide, least if there's a player not in this game it's pedro not hazard.

Credit where credits due Manchester City are a very well balanced team but we have been shocking beyond belief. As soon as you saw the line up you just knew there was no penetration whatsoever and so it has proved. It looks like a training run for City and for us it is difficult to find any redeeming feature. Rudiger and Azi have done well under relentless pressure but both have had to cover for Christensen being out of position and Drinkwater has had a go something you cannot say about Hazard who knew he was likely to be on his own but looks as if he would rather be somewhere else. Very disappointing.

Even a novice fan like me can see that our team is not set up to play a false nine system. Hazard was isolated the whole match. Also as if the whole team is lethargic and don't believe in Conte.
To be fair I didn't expect this ultra defensive setup. Conte is asking the board to sack him. No acknowledgement between Hazard and Conte after substitution. Worrying times. Both could go in the summer. Conte perhaps earlier.

Agree city deserve credit but as much as hey deserve credit we deserve the be crucified. that game was a must win for us and we didn’t try to. We never wanted to go at them. Conte was petrified of them, it’s not as if we have been keeping clean sheets yet we went there not to concede to many and not to score by the look of it. Most boring and negative game I’ve seen this year, 5 points off 4th, remember when we were chasing 2nd . I don’t wanna here how we suffere without the ball feom borig conte. we suffered with it because we had no outlet, all praising city for winning a game against a team who didn’t try to win.

Tibo has to find a safer way to get the ball out of his area, sloppy passes putting defenders under pressure will cost us at some point and a long ball into the opposition area is better than what he is doing.

A long Ball to opposition area serves no one as there's no one to hold the ball and allow others to move forward. This is where Drogba and Costa was important.
Alas, Conte's who is greater than Costa. Now even Tbo can understand that long Ball to Hazard in the false nine position is not the way out.
