Obviously JM is experimenting, he will right system at the end.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Yeah. He is experimenting every summer. When the results show a little possitive with small and weak teams, he always states that Chelsea are ready to run for the title. However, tbh, I see no diffrence to the tiny pony last year. What will happen if Costa gets an injury? Depend on Torres and his performance recently? I think the keeper would feel safer when he shots then other Chelsea players. He claimed that Matic can replace Luiz, but now Matic was just a shadow to himself last season. Just like the last game of that seasonis the sign for his going down now. Terry is old already, sometimes make mistake and can't be as tough qs the pass. While Zouma still have to learn, A LOT. Even Luis, the chosen LB, was also lost his way last game.

Dont mention any first teams player that need to work on their fitness. The comparison is meaningless.

Agree0 Disagree0

^^^ utter rubbish. From yet another plastic.
Probs never been to the bridge. Knows nothing about football. No wonder the cfc page on this site is so poor we there's nonsense post like this.

Agree0 Disagree0

Maybe plastic, but just because someone has never been to the bridge doesn't mean they're a real fan!

I've only been once and that's because I live in Australia. Not easy. The game I watched at the bridge was barca - chelsea 09 if anyone was wondering.

By the way cfcmatt I'm guessing you didn't mean it that way, but just saying anyway :)

What a load of drivel, it's pre season, we never look amazing. The signings we have made at this stage of the window are amazing. In my opinion I'd like to see Torres and mikel leave and aubameyang bought in and that's it - we do not need pogba.

Agree0 Disagree0

Chn, yes I believe he is an he'll get it right, its Jose afterall.
Daton, sit, take a deep breath, read your post as many times as you need to, now you see how silly it is. Good.
Cfcmatt, stop calling people stuffs that they aren't how would u like it if I called you rubber or iron. Stop being naughty.
Aron, totally agree with you, some might have never been to the bridge but the passion they show from miles away should be respected.
Dan, I would personally drive mikel and Torres to the airport. I would need to borrow someone's car though mines at the mechanics. Someone? Anyone?

Don't think it's fair to call a fan a plastic just because they've never been to the bridge, we all share the same love for the club so let's be nice! Although I don't agree with what Daton said. There's no point in worrying about pre season results- I'm sure with the squad we've got and the best manager in the world we'll be fighting to the end in every competition. Also, as much as I'm happy with out squad now, if I could change anything it would be Torres out and someone else in- Aubameyang or Hernandez anyone?

Firstly, any Chelsea fan coming on here should be entitled to an opinion, often out of frustration after a game.
Secondly, pre-season is the time to make mistakes/learn about your team.
Thirdly, I think we ALL agree we would a replacement for Torres but it won't be easy. He has to agree to go and someone must want him. I fear we might come up short again though if we have to rely on Drogs and Torres as cover for Costa who I think will hit the ground running.
lastly, let's not get to hung up on Mikel. He won't be a regular starter and will only come on when we need his physical strength to see a game out. squad player who never moans.

Agree0 Disagree0

I totally disagree with daton and have total faith in jm and all will be good.
What a good shout from Eli even if we don't agree don't abuse people everyone has there own opinion, which funny enough we are entitled to.
So cfcmatt next time you see a post you don't agree with take a deep breath and step away from your comp/laptop before responding.

Eds any truth in khedira joining chelsea allowing romeu to go on loan. Also would pogba be classed as home grown if he where to join an english club.

Can't answer the first part but it has been confirmed that he would be considered hg.

Agree0 Disagree0

Pogba qualifies as HG

I'm gutted mikel is still here and romeu has been sent on loan. Romeu is a good passer of the ball, I'm bored of watching mikel. He plays about 3 good games a season.

Mikel is only successful in a deep block and I can't see us playing that way very often this year.

Agree their Tk, defensive boring football suits Mikel. If we play like this in the season coming mourinho needs shooting with those kind of players in front of him.

Purely fantasy football here but will schurrle and azpi start for you next season?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Azpilcueta will play almost every game! Shurrle will play occasionally but is impact player of bench, but if it's for fantasy football I wouldn't spend what shurrle is as u lose points of they don't start,

Agree0 Disagree0

Do you really believe JM will give advantage to Dave before Ivanovic?

Agree0 Disagree0

Probably chn. JM dropped Cole last year to play Azpi at LB. Dave is younger, quicker and has the makings of the best full back in the prem. I can see Iva been used as a backup CB along with Zouma or being able to provide full back cover if Luis or Azpi get injured/suspended

Agree0 Disagree0

I think we'll likely start the season with the same back four we finished with last season. JM seems to bed new players in slowly. Iva will provide back-up and rotation for LB/RB/CB. When I say LB, I mean that Azpi will shift to LB and Iva at RB, thus allowing Luis, Azpi, Terry/Cahill rest but still getting quite a lot of game time.

Romeu now out on loan. Surprised about that. Thought he'd be back up to matic, not sure what that means in terms of signings or mikel staying or anything else, I like romeu a lot, think he is a really good player

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Matt it makes every sense to loan Romeu. JM has 3 CDMs Matic, Mikel and Romeu. Obviously, either Chelsea can't sell Mikel, either JM trust Mikel more than Romeu.

04 Aug 2014 09:38:44
Why have we loaned out Romeu. He's just signed a new 3 year deal n I prefer him over Mikel. Wht does everyone else think?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Maybe Mourinho values Mikel's consistency and experience more than Romeu's qualities. I agree he can be a very good player, but because of the injury he hasn't shown it for us for a while now. A good loan spell in Germany (a strong league) could convince Jose that he can replace Mikel in the squad.

PS: still hoping Ramires gets sold and replaced by POGBA :-P

Romeu has missed major parts of the last two seasons with injury. Also he isn't the most mobile player so this will allow him to develope elsewhere and hopefully prove he can have an injury free year.

Let's not panic too much about last nights result or performance! Firstly it pre-season and these results are two-a-penny in pre season, secondly Bremen have been back in training with a full team much longer than us and thirdly our team was, creativity wise, a long way away from our best 11.

Taking the whole of yesterdays team into account then only Terry, Luis, Matic, Fabregas and Costa are probably pencilled in to start vs Burnley; and Fabregas probably won't be starting in a number 10 role either. Azpilicueta still has a tough job ousting Ivanovic out of RB and until Courtois is confirmed as our number it'd be foolish to rule out Cech keeping his place.

Those complaining about a lack of creativity - that'll certainly come with the likes of Hazard, Oscar, Willian & Schurrle getting on the pitch from the beginning.

Please don't start panicking just yet!

The lack of creativity was there last season and I seem to remember all those players played then ;). It's the tempo of our play that is the problem. Quicken up the passing, move the ball faster and goals will come a lot easier.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Aug 2014 17:03:25
I think Matic helped the creativity from deep towards the end last season - wasn't he somewhere near the top of our assists? Fabregas alongside him will offer even better creativity from the deeper midfield position.

God, we were awful yesterday! Same old problems: no width, so slow in build-up, no idea how to break down a team sitting deep, still playing Torres! Jesus, we even looked better when Mikel came on - how bad is that!? Yes, we still have Willian, Schurrle and Oscar to come back but that doesn't confront the tactical problem of being able to break down the parked bus. We saw last season that we're fine against the better teams who come to play by hitting them on the break but how do we score against West Ham, Palace, Sunderland etc, etc, etc. This team is crying out for a playmaker - someone who doesn't necessarily work back - someone like MATA for example!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I think against weaker teams perhaps Hazard should start through the middle (as the CAM). If he can focus on making things happen, I think he can be a very creative player. Put Schurrle on his left side and Willian on his right, Fabregas behind him. Costa, Schurrle, Willian and Matic work their socks of for the team on defense and Hazard and Fabregas get to do their thing.

While today's performance wasn't spectacular by any stretch of the imagination you must have perspective in evaluating it. Werder Bremen have their entire team and they've all been back for a decent while. When you look at where we struggled today it was in making chances for our striker (thought costa looked great). Then when you look at the players in creative positions you see Torres and salah starting who I'm not going to comment on because everyone else has beaten the horse enough. Of the players that occupied those positions last year we have hazard playing his first minutes today and schurrle, Oscar, and Willian joining the club tomorrow. Of the goals they scored 2 came from rather harsh penalties and the third was just a fabulous header. Before everyone gives up all hope i'd suggest we take a step back from the ledge. For what it's worth we drew a game on August 1 against reading in 2009 and that season turned out alright.

I'm glad you have that perspective TK, I saw two concerns. 1, the reason we didn't win the league last year was mainly due to our tactics against teams that sit back and it doesn't appears that much has changed with Jose stating that he "learned nothing" from the match. 2, as much as I like MVG, he is not ready to play in the pivot for us atm and we shouldn't sell Rami unless we're gett

Agree0 Disagree0

Ing Khedira or someone better, not for these "sit back" type teams but against top attacking clubs, because for all his shortcomings Rami is an excellent defender in that pivot next to Matic

Honestly, the fact that we played so poor so close to season start worries me. We should have outmatched Werder Bremen at this point in pre-season.
