Alot of fans seem to be complaining about the exits of Essien and Meireles. The way I see it, their exits will allow Ramires to play in a more central role and Romeu will get more games; something that fans have been wanting for a while now. As for cover we have Lampard, Mikel, Ramires, Romeu and even Oscar to play there. IF by the time January comes around and we're looking a bit lightweight in midfield then we'll be able to go out and get someone, which wouldn't happen if both Meireles and Essien had stayed. So whilst we may have preferred them both to Mikel or Lampard, I can only see the positives from it. So stay Blue fellas =]

Believable5 Unbelievable2

How when it wasn't exactly Essien and meireles in ramires way of playing centre mid. It's RDM thinking he's better on the wing. BLUEBOY1

If RDM can not see that he should be playing Ramires centrally then sadly he is not tactically aware enough and should get the sack. Losing my patience now

Melbourne CFC

Believable10 Unbelievable0

Hes playing RW because i dont think he has faith in Sturridge and atm and Marin is injured so we dont have a RW. Hazard, Mata, Oscar all play LW, CAM. Ramires is an ok winger, but a very good CM and hopefully with the departure of Meireles we will see him back in at CM and back performing at the highest level.

PB

Agree0 Disagree1

1 bad game mate, give him some time... after all you can go back to the good old "transitionary period" excuse to explain how rubbish we are at times

Agree1 Disagree4

Moses rw ?

Blue con

Agree3 Disagree0

Yeah forgot about Moses but i doubt he will be given first team oppotunities for a couple of weeks until hes trained a while.

PB

Agree0 Disagree1

I agree Melbourne. It was fine playing Rami out there when we were defending the whole game and he's doubling up with the liability that was Bosingwa. We could use his pace and energy to give us an out ball and break quickly on the other team. But now we're playing more attacking football with the emphasis being on passing, and he doesn't suit this. He looks lost when Hazard and Mata are constantly inter-changing and passing the ball looking for openings, this isn't his game so he struggles. Its not his fault its RDMs, anyone can see that we need his energy and tenacity in the center of the pitch to break up the opposition attacks and help the defense out. I mentioned at the start of the season it could be frustrating, because we'll hear a lot from RDM about how the team needs to stay balanced, resulting in Ramires out wide right or Bertrand out wide left. Maybe the sale of Raul will force the change so that Rami goes center eventually? Even so i still think we'll see Bertrand out wide left if this happens.

I love RDM, i just wish he had more of an attacking philosophy.

Tk

Yer I thought the same thing when I first read it TK. While its frustrating having Ramires as a rw when he is so obviously suited to a cm role, I personally love RDM. Tactically he may be a little inept but I mean we have been playing some outstanding attacking football! Not to mention he had the chance to take other jobs over the summer while our manager situation was being sorted but chose to wait and see if he could manage us again. Because he bleeds blue.

My predictions now the transfer window has been slammed shut

Premier League

Man City
Chelsea
Man Utd
Arsenal
Tottenham
Newcastle
Everton

League cup : Chelsea ( our strength in depth is phenomenal )
F.A cup : Man city
Cwc. : Chelsea
UCL : Madrid

I know people will dis agree and say we will win everything, but if the season pans out like that it will be a success

Why is everyone not celebrating? Essein off the payroll for a year, Meireles hopefully off to Fenerbache. Two options in midfield that arent good enough anymore and never have been. Ramires can hopefully slot back into CM where he is far more effective, he brings energy and a quicker pace to our midfield. We then have Mikel, Lampard, Romeu fighting for the other CM position. This is good news, hopefully in January or next year we can sign a Witsel or M'Vila who would complement Ramires perfectly.

THIS IS GOOD NEWS

PB

Believable3 Unbelievable3

Essien never good enough ?? what have you been smoking

pretty sure madrid arent paying all of essiens wages either

curt

Agree5 Disagree1

Your telling me Essein is as good as he once was? Your telling me Essein is good enough for our starting 11, he hardly got any pre-season game time, he has had no game time so far this season let alone missing the whole of last year. Im pretty sure Madrid are paying the majority of his 100k a week wages, even if there paying half thats saving 200k a month.

PB

Agree1 Disagree1

How is it good news both meirelles and essien would fit the 2 cm roles better than lamps & mikel. BLUEBOY1

Agree2 Disagree1

Any one who thinks that Essien is and was nevre good enough is a complete clown and obviously not a true fan. He has been an integral part of the success during the Abramovich era and a Chelsea legend.

Agree2 Disagree0

Exactly HAS he isnt anymore, just like Lampard isnt a mobile amazing CM anymore, the guy has had 2 really serious knee injuries and a bad foot injury in the last 4 seasons, hes missed over 2 seasons due to injuries. He is not the old Mikel Essein anymore. Jesus, if he was management would be playing him simple.

PB

Agree0 Disagree0

You say that ess was never good enough for our first team? in his prime he was as important as makelele!

Agree0 Disagree0

OMG a young fit Essein was one of the best box to box midfielders in the world, but unfortuantly due to serious injuries he is not the old Essein and is 100k a week wages cant be justified when sitting on the bench. Hence the loan, its a win win, if he gains some match fitness and form he comes back and hes the CM where lacking, if he bench warms Madrids team then we've saved 50-100k a week and justified sending him on loan.

PB

Agree0 Disagree0

PB are you taking the p*ss!? Essien never good enough??

Just joking mate i agree with you.

Old Essien = Bison, Machine, Unplayable, One of the best in the world.
Present Essien = Past his best unfortunately, due to no fault of his own. Injuries have killed him.

OsgoodIsKing

Agree0 Disagree0

Exactly m8 he was a GREAT midfielder but due to injuries he currently isn't anymore, the loan is a good move for the club.

PB

Agree0 Disagree0

Get off the ledge on the whole Miereles thing guys. Not two weeks you guys were calling for him to be gone. The only unfortunate thing is that the club probably would have held off on loaning essien had they known this would come about. On the plus side most of the comps we have before January are less significant ones. We have the league cup where we always play kids. We have the league which you obviously have to prioritize and then we have to qualify out of our group. All that being said Id much rather be light now than on the other side of the January window.

Tk

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Club world cup in december mate

Agree2 Disagree1

03 Sep 2012 17:50:17
Let's not worry about losing Essien and Miereles...

The first team players we have left will be fine and the likes of George Saville and Nathan Ake must be licking their lips at potential first team opportunities...especially in the League Cup. Next season Josh McEachran returns after an important loan period, he'll be an upgrade to Miereles by then.

As for only having the two strikers, if necessary Patrick Bamford or Islam Feruz will have to make the step up...either way I'd also like to see one of the two used in the League Cup.

Being honest I don't care if where short on midfielders by letting yossi, mereiles and even malouda go. They need moving on and fresh players being brought in sometime in January. The players mentioned are either past there best or not good enough for our team anyway.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

It is good that they have moved on, but a player should have been brought in, we have so many comps this year and the squad is very thin.

ED002 the BBC are reporting Meireles is under going a medical with fenerbahce how naive are chelsea being? we let Benayoun Essien And Meireles leave and we have no cover? Mikel due to go to the African cup of nations in January we are left with 1 CDM in Romeu who has been out of favour for the past year? what is the thinking behind this ED? {Ed002's Note - If there is a problem some one will come in during January. Expect to see Lampard play a less attacking role this year. Ramires and Bertrand are also available to play in midfield. It is not going to be an issue.}

Believable1 Unbelievable2

It is an issue as weve seen mikel & lampard play thr this season & they are useless. meirelles mikel was better suited. & even mceachran essien pre season.

Agree2 Disagree0

Lampards instinct is to get into the box, I think he's going to be caught out of position too much. At 34 we're going to try change his playing style, really?

I'd prefer he's played in his usual position as an impact player.

Agree1 Disagree0

03 Sep 2012 15:53:16
Meireles leaving us leaves us pretty light in the middle of the park,
Lampard
Mikel
Romeu
Ramires, even though RDM seems to think he plays better on the wing.
And possibly Oscar.

With a long season ahead, Lamps getting on a bit and Romeu still young and developing, i think this is a huge gamble.

Believable1 Unbelievable3

Like Ed said Bertrand can play in there as well, even Luiz if we are short he is a good player just has no positional discipline.

Agree0 Disagree0

Luiz has never played there, i have no idea where people get this idea from, untill he actually plays the position it should be assumed that he wont.
As for Bertrand i am not convinced that he is the best option, much like Ramires on the wing. Everyone complains about Ramires playing out of position, why do you want Bertrand to move into a less comfortable position.

Agree1 Disagree0

Bertram has played midfield and is a really good option against more attacking teams because he always looks to defend first.

Blue con

Agree0 Disagree0

Luiz started off as a centre mid mr know it all. BLUEBOY1

Agree0 Disagree1

People get the idea of Luiz playing as a DM as he usually ends up out of position with his tendencies in getting forward. He's basically playing the position anyway.

We may as well play 3 at the back, with Luiz and Mikel as a DM's and Lampard in midfield, that way we won't get annoyed with them.

Agree0 Disagree1

I think Luiz actually started as a No10, but that doesn't really detract from my point, at Chelsea there has never been an occasion when he has played in midfield.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Wouldn't this leave us slightly short in midfield? Id wanna keep raul for now, the combo of him and Mikel in the pivot just seems a whole lot more fluid than Mikel and Lamps.. The latter is like watching crabs on the beach sometimes. If raul does leave hopefully Ramires can move back to the middle.

The Mail has now reported that Falcao's father has said he will be looking to join a Premier League team in January, its said he is a long time admirer of Chelsea FC. He has stated his 55mil Euros release clause but wont mention if there has been any contact between club and player. Just typed in Falcao Chelsea on Google and it was published 1 hour ago. Also Falcao's agent Jorge Mendes deals with Chelsea's transfers. Dont want to get my hopes up but things are looking good. Even if it turns out to be nothing it might spark Torres into a goal frenzy.......I hope :D. scott m.

Falcao has already spoken to his father, Radamel, and revealed that his preference is to play for Chelsea or Manchester City.
'There are three teams interested - Manchester City, Chelsea and a Russian team,' said Falcao senior.
'Falcao has always wanted to play in the Premier League.
'Ever since he was a boy he has loved Chelsea and has always thought it would be an honour to play for a big Premier League team.'
