In my opinion we could firm up our back line if we put in ivanovic for bosingwa and have Luiz as a center back. Luiz often gets caught out due to the fact that he's making a run and bosingwa does as well. This cant happen and if we had ivanovic there he wouldnt look to push forward as often and would be more likely to hang back when Luiz goes for a run. Ivanovic is a very good right back. He was on the all league team at that position two years back. He still can very much influence the attack as shown in the qpr game when he put in a beautiful ball that Helen Keller could knock in but unfortunately nico couldn't. Luiz will bring more pace to the back line. Santos goal on Saturday was a direct result of bosingwa pinching in for seemingly no reason and sturridge not tracking him back well. Bosingwa will also give us another good aerial player. That will help with the free kick issue we had at the beginning of the year. Overall I'm tired of hearing about how awful everything was. If Terry doesn't trip that takes away the fourth and the only reason the fifth was scored was because we needed to level.

After all is said and done , we really need to liven up now before every team in the Premiership fancy their chances down at Stamford Bridge , we all know the defence has problems and we all know the midfield don't talk to each other we all know that kalou is a world class striker , but let's just support the blues extra hard until we get back on course .

Hi ed any news on Mike Essien and a likely return date, could really use him right now. {Ed002's Note - The key issue is that Essien is not picked for the ACN in January. I would not expect to see too much of him before Easter - maily cameos.}

Over the summer we seemed a bit slow to act regarding signings, although we did eventually get several in most of whom have done well from what I have seen. Did or do the board expect us to win the league this season or is it a case of rebuilding and they accept that this could take a while. From what I have seen so far we are better going forward but shocking at the back, we also have no depth to the squad, we have a couple of decent players the rest are just not up to it anymore. Some of the bigger players like Drogba and the like need to be sold or allowed to leave. In my opinion AVB will do a decent job if given the correct tools but at present we dont have a good enough squad.
I guess what I am trying to say is are we going to be spending big again in January, or will we let the season play out and then do our shopping in the summer and possibly be saying goodbye to yet another manager? {Ed002's Note - Chelsea are in the midst of refreshing the squad with some younger players - this has been going on for 18 months so far. If the targeted palyers are available then Chelsea will try and sign them at the correct price. It is nothing to do with "spending big" or winning leagues, or changing managers.}

I understand that its not about spending big or winning leagues but our track record regards managers who dont win leagues is pretty grim, yes we can all see that we are refreshing the squad, but so are our rivals and to be honest they seem to have left us in there wakes. {Ed002's Note - I don't understand your point about managers. If a player were not performing he would be moved on. The team is toward the top of the league and will be moving on the the knockout phase of the champions league. The team is still in the Carling Cup. I really don't understand your concerns. Sorry.}

Agree2 Disagree0

What i was trying to get at was, are the board prepared to let AVB have the time and resources required to get the squad he wants and playing how he wants, or as we have seen time and time again will we part company with him, overhauling the team will be a long process and I am not convinced the board will put up with it.

{Ed002's Note - It really doesn't work that way at all. It is not a simple case of "do what you want" and "take as long as you want" and he certainly is not working under any sort of threat at the moment. You seem to have a slightly distorted view about how the business operates.}

Agree1 Disagree0

That so called distorted view is from past experience . {Ed002's Note - It has never been how it has operated.}
