Let Robbie become the permanent manager. Agree if you, mmm... Agree. And if you don't, then you are wrong :)

Di Matteo, how many more miracles will you perform? Torres hat-trick at the Emirates next month? Beating Barcalona? Sturridge passing it more than once in game? I think you can do all 3.
On today's game... Luiz did well as did Gary, got to be signing of Christmas Window in my opinion. Torres, he is starting to look his old self. All we need now is a goal in the CL this week and the supply he got today at Villa. Sturridge did well, we shouldn't lose him in the summer, we need to keep him. Like it or not, he and Mata are our attacking future. Kalou is a decent squad player/sub, we should possibly keep him. Malouda didn't feature today did he? If he did, i didn't see him touch it. Glad we have stopped him getting near it. Think we should look at players like Albrighton, Bannan, Sessegnon,Nathan Dyer, Tiote, Maclean, Sinclair (still didn't see a point in selling him when we did) and Ba in the summer. They would all be fairly cheap (compared to players i mention below), good proven players in the EPL, we can offer them more than their current club can and they are all able to improve our squad depth and quality. Ideally, if we got CL qualification, i would want to get Moura, Azplicueta. one of Cavani/Higuain/Llorente and one of Hazard/Lavezzi/Di Maria. I admit though, we would have to do this over two seasons. Moura, Azplicueta this summer 2012/2013 and a few youngsters like i said above and the rest in the next year after 2013/2014.
Keep the top 4 faith. We are becoming our old selves again...

Was a good post until i read Albrighton and Bannan, we just got to be aiming higher than that mate

Agree2 Disagree3

Bannan is a decent player, albrighton, ehh, not so much. bannan is too similar to mceachran.

Agree2 Disagree2

SHED END: I haven't seen too much of them this year, only MOTD snippets. I'd add Hoilett and Moses to the list thinking about it now.
Roll on Benfica!
CFCFOREVER!

Agree3 Disagree2

Mate what are you on. Moses we have lukaku or even feruz and bamford

Agree1 Disagree3

Its true mate, i think your a little off the mark. Moses, Bannan or Albrighton are all signings i'd expect Liverpool to make. We need world class players back at the birdge. There is alot of young talent out their that put all 3 of these players to shame.

I can assure you mate Bannan and Albrighton wouldnt cut it, off your list i would take BA, maybe Hoilett because hes free. Tiote would be too expensive for what he is, Sessegnon is decent for Sunderland but he isnt a Chelsea player IMO, Sinclair has found his level, he takes penos aswel so bare that in mind if looking at his stats. Remember this time last year people were shouting out for the likes of N'zogbia off the back of a half decent season.

There is better options i would take in the prem though, Milner and Johnson i think would be gettable from City, Dempsey i would take, i think Cabaye looks quality, and will prob get lots of disagrees but Fellaini, hes a lump and can dictate games from holding mid. That being said i would still rather get a couple of European players and promote some youth

Ba, is a not technically gifted and he has not been scoring that many in the second half of the season and we need technically gifted players to play the type of football we aspire to play. For me ,Lavezzi as supporting striker ,anyone of Di Maria/Susaeta/Hulk/Ben Arfa as wingers and anyone of Javi Martinez/Modric/Erikson would be perfect and that is all we need to be top of League again.I would personally like to see both Susaeta and Ben Arfa and what's more they would not cost as much as the others. What do you guys think?

Here's how i see it....Di matteo has won 6 out of 8 games, losing just one. Under AVB, we would have lost heavier to man city, probably lost against tottenham, and for sure drop points against the lesser teams in the premier league and fa cup, oh and we would have got knocked out of the champions league. As for a manager... I think that while we should give Di matteo the job for next season, unless he wins the champions league, he will return to assistant manager and we will get another manager ( not mourinho or guardiola)

Such a pointless AVB hypothetical post well done m8. RDM has done well no one can doubt that, but he isnt going to make top talent want to come and play for him and that is my issue with him.

I’ve said many times that my opinion on Torres staying or going has changed a number of times over the past season, right now I strongly believe that he has to stay. Someone else stated on here recently that Torres is in the process of changing his style to that of a support striker; this is an opinion that I agree with.

He is almost playing the striker role in a similar mould to that of Totti (I do say almost & similar) from the past couple of seasons. Not playing of the shoulder of the last defender, not a physically imposing striker but a player who picks the ball up deep and takes as much from creating as he does from scoring; just see his celebration for the Kalou goal against Benfica. Playing in this fashion with his form of the past four-five games I’m sure he’d score 20 goals next season; his finish today against Villa was that of an in form striker.

Mata, playing in behind Torres, had a good game today. I do like him playing centrally, and like the formation that allows him to do this (4-2-3-1); especially against teams that are going to be more defensive against us. I do strongly believe that the three attacking players supporting the striker need to be fluid and almost swap positions at will, as Robben and Duff used too. Mata and Sturridge are capable of doing this; another one or two creative players in the squad with this ability and we will see a different attacking team next season.

No matter where we finish this season I am cautiously optimistic about next season.

I dont think a support striker but I do think he has adapted his game to the way we play. at liverpool he was the player everyone tried to get the ball to but at chelsea we like to vary are attacks and not just look directly at the front man for goals

I think this performance is a lot like our performance throughout the season,a decent start, flat in the middle, lost the plot, showed spirit to win in the later stages when the chips were down. One thing that has symbolized the past Chelsea teams ,the the quality which I admire the most, spirit. We somehow lacked this under AVB ,but my word aren't we showing it now.Hats off to Torres ,he has shown himself to be a true blue.I think his spirit and desire to succeed has played a huge part in our success since RDM took over,it has rubbed off on the other players and that quality is priceless. This victory today might be against a struggling Aston Villa side but it just proves that the spirit and belief is back.Kudos to Torres and the whole team ,who knows if we keep this up we might surprise every body.

A proper striker instead of Torres, and the game would have been over, for all his workrate the guy is not up to it,big rebuild in the summer needed.

Yeaaaaaaahah Get in Torres, that last 20 mins wasnt nice to watch but we deserved the win

Who would of thunk it. Sturridge is left out for a couple of games and now he doesnt mind the odd assist. Good managing RDM. Love it when someone slates Nando, just in time for him to score. Come on you blues.

Once again fella's cant watch the game. Sometimes i wish i was unemployed, but supporting the scousers really doesn't appeal to me.

Hope we can get some updates throughout the game. As a bday present (April Fools Day's is a cruel day to be born let me assure you) I would love nothing more than a Chelsea win and a Torres brace (hat-tricks a bit much to ask).

Carn the blues.

i know there will be disagremenats nut i am becoming very worried about next season... i mean it seems like every player we are looking at has stated he would prefer to join some other club or are happy where they are. i just hope 3 soild signings and a couple of sales and squad players are added. please!

cali

Believable2 Unbelievable0

Cali, we hardly have any idea who we are looking at as a club. Only what the people on here suggest, so we can't say we are getting turned down. I can't say im not concerned, but the wages we can offer are definately a draw card. We already have De Bruyne coming back (although may be loaned out again). He is a class player IMO, needs to be tested at higher level than he is at Genk though.

Hopefully we can sign a wide man, a rb and a creative midfielder. Would personally want Van der Weil (even though he would prefer Valencia), Moutinho, and Di Maria.

If Torres doesn't start banging them in by next season give Sturridge a good run as our main ST.

Alot of things can happen between now and the opening of the transfer window. We don't even know who the manager will be for next season yet, be patient mate and just prey we can sneak 4th.
