i'd really like to know the clubs reasoning behind loaning de bruyne to get schurrle. Do they really see this as the best option? And does anyone else feel like schurrle is being signed to play as a main striker after cavani and falcao didn't work out.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

De Bruyne wants garantueed 1st team football and at best at Chelsea he would be a rotation player. makes sense for another season.

Agree0 Disagree0

Belgium has a very competitive squad for world cup 2014. they have players like felliani, witsel, defour, benteke, hazard brothers, lukaku, debruyne, dembele, mingolet, mirallas, kompany, vertongen, vermalean, coutoius in their probables. all these guys among others play in top teams across europe. so the places are up for grabs. chelsea Owened players are youngsters and in order to fight with more experienced stars; they need to play regular first team football. having said that belgium will be a team to watch out in brazil.

KINGS XI CHELSEA

Agree0 Disagree0

Out of curiousity I just went to check the FIFA world rankings to see how Belgium were doing these days. An immediate reminder of how utterly ridiculous the FIFA world rankings are.

Agree0 Disagree0

Best post I've seen in a while Kentonio, someone explain to me how Brazil are 20th, Argentina 15th and England 6th?
EH17

Agree0 Disagree0

The world ranking mean nothing.
Croatia are 4th
Ecuador 10th
Brazil 20th

pay no attention

jordan

Agree0 Disagree0

Brazil are only that low due to the fact they are not playing in any competitive matches as they are hosts for 2014 and therefore have been playing meaningless friendlies and they have lost a few hence why they are so low.

I understand Chelsea are beginning to show an interest in Gundogan. Swap deal + cash with De Bruyne is being mooted.

Any truth in us wanting hulk?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

If we got hulk cavani and modric if be over the moon. Not great fan of modric but offers cover for so many positions. And I dunnouch about shurrle

Agree0 Disagree0

Rather play Oscar and mceachran in modric role!

Who are our realistic striker targets this summer? And which other position do you expect us to strengthen?!

Where would shurrle fit into the Chelsea team because I don't feel he would force his way in is he being brought to sit on the bech like Moses and Marin, if so it's a waste of 20 million.
I would rather see de bruyne given a crack at first team football.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Why would you worry over this? He's a proven young German international. Looking at England's starting 11 at Wembley, he'd walk into that team, with ease. If you can't see how he gets into the German squad where he needs to compete with the likes of Muller, Goetze, Reus and so many more, then you probably have not seen him play. The lad is alright, he'll do good.

Ed made a good point on deBruyne today. The kid wants regular football. Keep in mind, it's a 2013-2014 campaign. World cup is ahead, players around the world seek to be selected into their national teams and get a chance to compete at the WC. Although I would love to see deBruyne at the Bridge as soon as possible, I would trust the club on this.

You can not possibly slate the club for loaning him out. Instead you should praise them for getting the kid from Genk, in the first place.

We'll be alright, don't worry.

JG

Agree0 Disagree0

Mata, Hazard, Schurlle behind the central striker. As much as I like Oscar he gets a little lost out wide so would use him in the more deeper central role

Agree0 Disagree0

Not usually a fan of your opinions JG but to be fair you're spot on.
Couldn't agree more.
Cfcmatt.

Agree0 Disagree0

Durrr and that's why Oscar ain't a winger. But ye agree deeper is better for him.

Agree0 Disagree0

Buying schurrle will mean ramires and Oscar no longer play on right where I think there wasted, Oscar will play deeper and ramires, I believe will not play as much he's a work horse and doesn't stop running but lacks the class

Agree0 Disagree0

I really hope Oscar leaves, this reminds me of the same conversations about selling Luiz earlier last season. Some of you are utterly clueless keep going on about where oscar plays, not matter where he has played he hasn't embarrassed himself or caused us to lose while starting all our big matches since the start of the season.

Agree0 Disagree0

Want Oscar to leave? Are you mad he'll be one of the best midfielders to grace the prem in a few years played in the right position

Agree0 Disagree0

Just leave Oscar alone, our midfield three move around and that is their strength. True as a young player he doesn't always play at his best but very few at his age do, he can play anywhere he wants when he's on because he's that good.

keen on mangala, de rossi and cavani but not schurlle in for a de bruyne loan out de bruyne will be of more use than schurlle!

Hey ed, and fellow Chelsea fans hope your all well.

Few questions when you have the time please ed.

1) Is there anything new to report regarding Schurrle, some reports today saying the deal is now done and KDB will be spending a year on loan there.

2)Any update on Jose?

3)Have we made an official approach for Yilmaz or Jovetic in the last week?

4)Any news on popadoplous?

5)Do you believe there is a chance of us bidding for bale at all or just shoddy journalism to fill papers.

Thanks for your patience
I know you've answered a lot of questions regarding these points in last few months I was just curious if there was any updates thanks for your time as always.

Blueben {Ed002's Note - There is nothing new to say - there is no "done" deal just yet for Schurrle.}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Ok thanks ed sorry again for the repeated questions.

Good Day Ed,

I just wanted to know if Chelsea have placed a bid for Cavani, have they contacted Napoli as what SkyItalia reports?
Thank you {Ed002's Note - Try the search engine.}

If recent comments are to be believed we are closing in on Schurrle with KDB going on loan for another season.

IMO this is not a great looking move, as with a lot of other users of this site I have my doubts over Schurrle, and was excited to see KDB after his impressive season (arguably better than Schurrles), however I am interested to see how Andre does, we have been after him for a while so I hope that was with good reason. He is quick and has a powerfull shot, if he beds in quickly I could be proved wrong and we could have a great player on our hands (fingers crossed).

If Mourinho doesn't come to Chelsea does the club have any back up managers in mind? Thanks in advance {Ed018's Note - don't need a backup plan}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Is that a sign of how confident on 'TSO' you are Ed018? Please say yes, I think we all want him to return.

Ed018, just out of curiosity. Realistically, who would you like to see brought into the team for next season?

Jackson {Ed018's Note - Aubameyang or Cavani. Maybe this Van Ginkel kid and Schurrle since he will be here}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Thanks Ed, that's pretty much my list. Only I'd like a cb as well and maybe Markovic. Great minds think alike

Lewis Baker, one of our academy kids, has just played 3 games for England under 19s in Belgium. The top rated player in all 3, also England's top scorer. Mooted as "future England captain" by coaches, on top of Player of the Tournament in the Nextgen series.
It looks like the academy is really starting to produce at last!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Always produced just never given chance

Agree0 Disagree0

30 May 2013 14:14:17
Yep! Baker - Chalobah - Loftus-cheek. A dream midfield 3 for Chelsea and England! Boga is also one to look out for, but he's a few years younger than the 3 I mentioned. And trust me, these guys will be world class! Unlike McEachran (unfortunately).

Agree0 Disagree0

Jeremie Boga looks a cracking player, a bit like Hazard but playing in a more central role.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ake, Christensen and Charly Musonda are going to be fantastic as well

Suarez and bale are targets for real madrid. So i'm guessing they would need to sell ronaldo to raise funds. Plus with chelsea looking to have missed out on falcao/cavani do you
See a mourinho ronaldo reunion at the bridge.

They'll likely sell Higuain, Di Maria, Khedira, Coentrao etc.

Things to take away from the Belgium-USA game:

-KDB was the best player on the pitch. 2 assists (pretty much 3) and ran the belgian midfield for the most part. He can easily come in and improve the squad greatly. I'd say right now he is better than Oscar.
-Lukaku isn't quite ready for me. He really needs to improve his first touch, hold up, link up, and build up play. His pace, strength, awareness, and finishing are all there he just needs another year on loan to hone his technical skills.
-Fellaini played in a deeper role in a two man midfield and look out of place. I would assume that chelsea were looking at him to play in the holding role but to be honest he doesn't offer much more than mikel does in that role. he I better in the air but his creativity and forward passing is nothing spectacular. He should not be considered for our midfield.
-Thorgan Hazard came on for about 5 min and didn't do much of anything but he will likely be loaned to anderlecht next season and he does have a bright future. I originally thought he was just bought to make Eden happy but this kid was the standout player in the belgian league this season.
-Belgium will be an awesome team to watch this coming World Cup.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Oscar and de bruyne are two very different players.

Agree0 Disagree0

De bruyne is an amazing player always has been before we signed him. It will be the worst mistake by chelsea if we let him go. Lukaku has got to get his first touch right, and use his power in the air a lot more, but I didn't realise how much pace he has. He's quick for unit of his size. Fellaini from day one we was linked with him that he is a terrible central midfielder. Sloppy passing dodgy tackles, this is really not what we need! All I can say is we've got 3 easy decisions to make here.
1- keep de bruyne.
2- another loan for lukaku, bigger club.
3- we don't need or want fellaini.

Watched the match also and kdb did have a good match but easy with the better than Oscar talk. Kdb's brilliance was in the 2nd half and where he demonstrated good crossing from the rw which he seemed to have a bit more success than on the left where he started. He still doesn't possess Oscar gift of a world class through ball in the final 3rd on a consistent basis (although he had a superb cut back pass to Bentake for his 1st goal) because Lukaku should have had 3 first half goals, two of which were due to kdb passes that were off the mark and one a bad offside call. Those passes, like the one that led to the 1st goal that was too close to Tim Howard, I believe Oscar would have put at Lukaku's feet. I just brought that out since u chose to go there. That said kdb is better at crossing from out wide right now than Oscar, Moses and Cesar and can definately improve our sqaud if not start.

Watching the US v. Belgium friendly and seeing DeBruyne and Lukaku link up brings me sheer joy. just unfortunate that Eden wasn't fit enough to play. Lukaku has shown glimpses of being ready to lead our front line, while also giving reason to spend some more time on loan (limited time. he's close). DeBruyne is ready now, and has 2 assists thus far. Hopefully Hazard, DeBruyne, and Lukaku will be on the senior squad this upcoming campaign. and I can wait another year or two for Courtois.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

With all due respect, playing in the premier league and playing in a post season friendly is a comparison I laugh at.

Kevin de Bruyne is a great talent but he won't get regular football at Chelsea next season which is why he is being loaned out to Leverkusen.

If he shines there then 2014/15 season is a more realistic prospect

Rich

Agree0 Disagree0

With all due respect, what will we learn next year about him that we don't know now? Same German league he just finished a season in and did well, now if was being loaned to bvd or beyern Munich then that would be a different test but It just seems like another year of the same thing.

Agree0 Disagree0

He was great at Werder because they're a shocking team who finished low down the table, Leverkusen are a top 4 German side where he'll be tested more and playing more, especially as they're a club competing in Europe, with the World Cup around the corner the lad wants to play regularly which Chelsea cannot guarantee him. Makes sense from his point of view

A company want to make money, so they invite a load of popular clubs to participate in a competition (EG Chelsea, Inter and Madrid). Sell tickets to the games, give some of the money to the club and keep the rest for themselves

Agree0 Disagree0

It's just a friendly tournament. A replacement of the World Football challenge that we played in 2009 and last year. There's no qualification needed. Chelsea, Everton, Milan, Inter, Juventus, Real Madrid, Valencia and LA Galaxy are competing in it.

Agree0 Disagree0

It is a good way to have a semi competitive tournament for the American audience, great way for someone to make a lot of money.
