if we sign ba and bring david villa in untill summer i would be happy with that .

Hi ed think u do a great job the demba ba situation and this buy out clause thing I no it's 7 million but does that mean we can buy him for that or can Newcastle demand what they want still many thanks {Ed002's Note - The clause relates to CL teams.}

Believable0 Unbelievable1

Surely if we offered 10m they would accept?

Agree1 Disagree0

30 Dec 2012 21:31:47
no need to get ba when we can recall lukaku!

Fahim

Believable9 Unbelievable0

I'd rather have Ba than lukakau.

Agree1 Disagree6

Ba is 27 lukaku still in his teens. both are strong physical players. lukaku can only improve. plus we bloody paid £18 million for him! we need to get him back instead man.

Agree4 Disagree0

Lukaku has already mentioned he wants to go out on loan again for the 13/14 season. Which goes to show that he doesn't think he's ready to play for Chelsea at the highest level yet.

Agree0 Disagree1

Lukaku wants to play all of the time, which is why he would rather stay on loan.

Agree1 Disagree1

Which means he doesn't think that if he were to be at the club next year, that he will be good enough to start a lot of games for us.

Agree0 Disagree1

No it means he thinks he won't be picked regularly to start

Agree2 Disagree0

30 Dec 2012 21:05:31
Which hopefully leads us to making a bid for Theo Walcott. Given that we can't get top world class strikers to the Bridge we still need to reinforce the squad. We are down to one striker (mostof the time half of him).

I understand we'll get Taison if he is granted work permit underspecial talent exception, but he is a Moses type wide man who can slot in as "striker", but surely not in the way we exploit or in fact would like to exploit our strikers.

Team is getting better overall. The discipline is back, the confidence seems to be growing. Tonight was a great result and we have a fantasticly favorable schedule throughout the month of January. This should get us goin even stronger.

And as i have said, if we can't prise the top guys, get the hungry and gifted. Walcott and whoever the club sees fit.

Heard Chelsea are in talks with Ba's Representatives (something like that) but, what do you guys think of the player, personally i think hes good, but there are others Id prefer?

JMJW

Believable0 Unbelievable1

He's a good player for what I think will be a relatively cheap price considering the market these days. Although I think that in a season or two Lukaku will be at the same level as him, if not better, but I guess we want him to gain first team football out on loan instead of saving money and recalling him. I think Ba is great business, but I still think we need a world class striker (I.e Cavani/Falcao esq) to be a real title challenging team but that may have to wait till the summer.

MB

Agree1 Disagree1

I would personally would love to see Walcott at the bridge delboy(34)

Agree5 Disagree0

30 Dec 2012 21:00:04
what I think chelsea's plans are. seems Demba Ba might be coming (although you can never be 100% sure with ssn) but would be a good deal. cheap(ish) and can be used as an outlet. it also seems that Falcao is not interested in a january move, nor do atletico want to sell him at the moment. therefore in the summer it will be torres out, falcao in and maybe one more striker signed (hoping for walcott to be honest, said for a while that he would be a good front man and seems to be proving my point at the moment) or lukaku recalled from loan

For this transfers window if we spent 45 million and got in Walcott Ba and Baines I would be very happy
Mattm

Believable3 Unbelievable1

Same, wouldnt mind coentrao though. BLUEBOY1

Agree1 Disagree2

£45m for Ba, Baines and Walcott?! Bit excessive IMO....

Agree2 Disagree1

£10m tops for Ba, £15m for Walcott. That would mean £20m for Baines. Not worth it.

Agree1 Disagree0

Does it matter? its not your money

Rafa's taken a very 'good risk' to move Luiz to midfield. It's helped our midfield so much, especially today's game that was big battle. BB

Believable4 Unbelievable0

Yes I agree. He gives us both the fifth defender and the forward edge. Sometimes the solution is simple and obvious. Mikel can then play in the cups as he is blinking hopeless going forward. Proitos

Agree5 Disagree0

Ha and to think of the amount of disagree's I got on here to suggest that Luiz is more of a defensive midfielder with attacking qualities. Scott M.

Agree0 Disagree13

Another disagree there pal
Ya don't sayyyyyyyy

Agree2 Disagree0

David Luiz is a box to box defensive striker. No matter where you put him, he has to be one of the 11 guys on the pitch when you draw up your team lineup.

Btw. look at Ramires on the right hand side today and compare his performance there to the one that he produces from the middle of the field. Again - he must be on the pitch - put him there!!

JG

Agree0 Disagree0

Ramires was shocking today! What are you on about man?

Agree2 Disagree1

Plus all his runs came from the middle, the cross to Lamps was loose change where he was closest to the right side - the only play he made on the right. We've seen him a lot on the right and that doesn't work, he's awful as a winger.

Agree1 Disagree0

Yeah rami looked like the rami from his first year where he was a bunch of energy and poor end product. I guess you can say he slowed baines when he moved out wide.

Tk

Agree1 Disagree0

I have to say I am still not convinced about Rami mainly because of his inconsistent performances. I would give him a chance until the summer and if he does not improve let him go. Proitos

Agree2 Disagree1

I always used to think that Ramires should be on the pitch but now that Luiz has moved into midfield, I've scrutinised Ramires more and the fact is that he isn't a great tackler or passer. His best attributes are his energy and possibly his finishing. Someone said the other day that he has all the physical attributes but just lacks the technical.

Agree2 Disagree0

30 Dec 2012 20:17:28

30 Dec 2012 19:35:43
So if a team can offer Ba champ league football, UTD and arsenal and they can activate his clause for 7m meaning if we offer 10m it would suit Newcastle to accept and gain few extra million if arsenal come knocking.

Brilliant win , great performance by everybody. The win was vital because it was at a very very tough place, in my view the toughest in the league.Lamps was great , but I think the board as always know what they are doing. They have been right every single time. The Benitez appointment could be a masterstroke. If Lamps has to go then so be it , I wish him all the best for the future.Finances needs to be looked at and the decisions are not easy, so everybody lets move on and appreciate Lamps while he is still here.
roan

Believable4 Unbelievable14

What a rubbish post Lampard won us the game that's how much of a character he still is if we sell him we're stupid.

Agree15 Disagree2

Come on, if ramy played centre and oscar on instead of lamps we would have won.

Agree2 Disagree7

Lamps, IMO, is still the clubs best CM - if not that then he is certainly in the top 2 best. The fact that the club haven't even offered him a new contract at all is disgrace, whereas Obi Mikel gets a new improved deal a few months ago.

Ba would be a great buy for us, especially at £7mil but I think Walcott and Baines are great value for money at £15mil each. Scott M.

Believable6 Unbelievable1

Agree baines was brilliant, looked like creating something everytime he got the ball. Just thing if walcott was in torres position on two or three times today, with his speed we would have scored more. There again torres does a lot of other work for the team

Agree5 Disagree0

Chelsea can't activate his release clause. We're not a CL club.

Agree2 Disagree2

If thats true then why is his agent and representatives going to Stamford Bridge tonight to discuss a deal? Chelsea can offer him 1st team football and are in a better position than Arsenal are. We might not be in the Champions League anymore but we are in 3rd in the league 4 points behind City with a game in hand and half a season to climb up to the top. Scott M.

I understand Frank is somewhere at a140 K aweek wage. If he's offered a two year deal, even at the same wages, he'd beworthevery penny. Same for Cole. We have seen how we look without him or JT in the team. A no brainer to me.

But no, we give improved terms to this Mikel. Horrified.

JG

Believable3 Unbelievable4

I believe its nothing to do with the money, the dressing room has been thought to have to many influence from certain players, Frank is one of them and I feel they are trying to get rid of it.

Agree2 Disagree3

Yeah but he's on the downside of his career and not an every match player anymore, so as much as I want him to finish his career with us he shouldn't be one of our highest paid players because he no longer has the same responsiblities. If super Frank and his agent can be reasonable then let's get a deal done.

Who needs a striker when you got super Frank. Honestly, that game brought back some good memories. Even if we don't dominate we still come out with three points, and to be honest that's what champions are made of, it was always gonna be a tough game so... Really good win. Not that there is ever a bad win.

Thought Luiz was immense today, great defensively and made some very good interceptions, Ramires brought some lightening pace and energy to the team and is a one man fast break, he lacks technical quality but he put in a real shift.

Great win away from home at a very difficult ground.

Great win today, great effort from the lads, get nervous when Ramires plays on the right but the 3 points was vital today.
Roman keep Frank please otherwise you don't care about the fans.
Oh and Torres no excuse anymore, liability.

A11

Believable3 Unbelievable8

Torres picked the ball up twice wide left to set up the goals. So just be quiet and enjoy the win.

PR!

Agree9 Disagree1

I have said it before and here I go again. Lampard is still quality and class, best we have. You cant buy his attitude and dedication he loves the club and if we have any class we will get him signed up.
The guy would sweat blood for us, we give Mikel a noew 5 year deal and he cant even be bothered to run for 90 mins.

Torres also missed two sitters but ya he did well today

30 Dec 2012 15:37:50
Best performance of the season apart from first 20 mins. Great win at a very hard ground to visit. Cole and lampard, roman get them signed up. Even if they are used next season as squad players, they are influential people with huge passion for our club for the younger players to learn from.
2012 a year to remember for chelsea. Wasnt happy with rafa but have to agree he has us looking more solid and if where winning games then i dont care who the manager is.

NWBLUE

Believable5 Unbelievable4

Completely disagree. We were extremely lucky not to come away with a heavy defeat today. The first half was simply shocking, and although we improved in the second, we were riding our luck right to the very end. Every team has a bad day now and again, and it's great that we took the points but the performance was poor.

Agree5 Disagree4

Not sure why or how the performance was poor and we got 3 points at a place where no other team got 3 points. It seems to me teams feel the if the play UD physical and press us we will fall apart, today was the best response I've seen from this young sqaud to that challenge this season. Some credit to Rafa.

Bluelab

Agree0 Disagree0

We showed a lot of heart which was great, but our passing was absolutely awful for a lot of the match and we were getting muscled off the ball far too often.

The thing that annoys me most about top level footballers Is they are unwilling to take a pay cut, its like every contract must be bigger than the last, if Frank Lampard wants to stay at Chelsea as he claims why doesn't he play for 50k a week still a huge some of money
Tom {Ed002's Note - It is really not as simple as that. Consideration must be given to the squad size ans well as the cost of keeping the player. The cost of replacing him once the FFP rules become active is another consideration. Time comes and it may be his time to move on.}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

He's just saved our bacon! Roman needs to stop messing about and give him a new deal! Ridiculous!

Chelsea Nick

Agree2 Disagree2

Ed I tottally agree and Understand, but if Frank Lampard said, I'm willing to play for 30k p/w rather than the 120k he is on, I'm sure signing him on a 2 or 3 year deal wouldn't be as daunting if injury or if he was to just not be competative, the fact he's on such huge sums and his age factor comes into it. {Ed002's Note - Why would he do that?}

Agree1 Disagree0

To stay at the club he loves so dearly, rather than turn out for some other club, just for a paycheck!
Tom {Ed002's Note - Right, that must be it.}

Agree1 Disagree0

The Ed is clearly no Chelsea fan if they believe it's time for Lanpard to move on!!!

Chelsea Nick

Agree3 Disagree2

The ED never said that he wanted Lampard to leave. He clearly states that there are other issues around giving Frank an extension. With FFP coming in the next few years, it means that if Frank was given 2 more years, that when we sign his replacement it'll be alot harder due to the FFP.

Manager has put the best lineup up today. I am very impressed. We'll play our usual formation, while deploying Rami where his is best (in my opinion). To minimise the threat that Baines and South African fella (damn, forgot the name;)) bring on the left hand, we got Ramires and Azpiliqueta playing there.

Great move. Lets hope for all the three points at Goodison. Good luck!

i think villa wil b a gud choice for chelsea as he is 31-32(bt stil world class) n wil make way for new strikers lyk lukaku, feruz and bamford in 2-3 years time
.Also he n torres wil hav a gud understanding havin playd togthr bfr...Evryones goin gaga over falcao but fail to remember that before torres came to chelsea he was also somewhat lyk falcao..same case wid shevchenko

Believable1 Unbelievable3

Torres had been injured before we got him, so it was a gamble, Shever was gettibg to the end of his career, where as Falco is in his prime not suffering from any kind of injury, its always a gamble but Falco I feel would be a star over here.

Agree2 Disagree0

I think villa would be great option until summer when we get our number one target (falcao) and if we could get him for 14m roughly I think that wud be great,
Mattm

Agree2 Disagree0

Problem in the summer will be other clubs coming into the equation for falcao. Man city will no doubt be looking for a new manager, and jose or pep will prob be installed.would falcao want to come to chelsea with our history of sacking managers or go to city .you then have real madrid who want falcao.if we don't get pep or jose in the summer, which I doubt, then I think we can forget about falcao, unless we get him now

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree we should get falcao but if we are forced to wait we need a world class striker in, could we agree fee and insurance and get him to sign contract with us and loan him to athletico til end if season, like Lucas moura and PSG ??

I say get Demba Ba for 7m pounds as replacement for Sturidge. His general play is great plus he's up there with the best in the world in terms of finishing. He knows how to hold the ball up, create space and bring others into play, which is what we need now. I say sign him up.
