Sorry to bother everyone again but interestingly djiboloji has been left out of the champions league squad. wondering what u all think of that.

Believable1 Unbelievable2

02 Sep 2015 23:51:35
A lot centers around the facts that we can reconfigure our squad after the group stages and the fact that our group is rather tame. I'd rather be able to play traore and Kennedy to help them develop. Especially when you consider their opportunities could be restricted in the league with our poor start.

Agree1 Disagree0

03 Sep 2015 00:27:50
Papy will be used more in league games. Maybe paring with Zouma in pre-CL games. He could be sad about that cause he join us for playing CL. But Chelsea will pass the group stage for sure and after that Papy can be registered for the knock out stage (if he gets on well with the team and has good form).

In the scout report, they mentioned that he need to improve his passing and techniques. Maybe he need to be trained to improve those things before his CL debut.

We're only allowed 17 foreign players in the squad for the Champions League.
Foreign players: Courtois, Ivanovic, Azpi, Zouma, Rahman, Mikel, Ramires, Matic, Pedro, Oscar, Hazard, Willian, Kenedy, Traore, Remy, Falcao, Costa.
HG players: Begovic, Blackman, Terry, Cahill, Cesc, RLC.

We have enough cover defensively to get by, but I do think he should have gotten a place ahead of Traore. If only due to poor start we've had, and the fact that Ramires, Remy and Cesc have all played as AM's before.

If anyone is interested there is a great report on the new stadium plans on the weaintgotnohistory Facebook page and I presume their website. It gives some great details into how they came up with the ideas and how they are trying to make life easier for the supporter.

So without specs on. Quick banter lads?

Kenedy 7 mil
Martial 36 mil

To me Kenedy looks a steal, could honestly see this lad being the real deal and don't know how we got him on the cheap certainly as good as martial. Guys, Ed018. Your thoughts?

Believable2 Unbelievable0

{Ed018's Note - Kenedy looks like he's got some good potential for sure. At least it's good to know that with Cuadrado and Moses out of the picture he will definitely get some minutes this year. Martial is a player with good potential as well but certainly not worth the money United forked out for him}

02 Sep 2015 22:49:23
The deal for Martial will never be considered a 'steal', even if he lives up to his potential. It's just such a big commitment to a teenager who, while talented, only scored something like 11 goals in all competitions last season. Luckily for them, United can pretty much pay whatever they like as their revenues are insane.
Both players look very good though, and I think Martial is going to be the better player out of those 2 in the end. However, Kenedy could be really useful and didn't cost nearly as much.
I think both teams did well :-) and I look forward to seeing more of Kenedy in blue. He looked a real energetic player against Palace and I love that attitude.

Although I think Rahman and RLC should play vs Everton I think the likes of maybe Aina, Rahman, RLC, Kenedy and Traore will get to start vs Walsall.

Agree1 Disagree0

02 Sep 2015 23:30:14
I really hope so Magical Eden.

Agree1 Disagree0

03 Sep 2015 06:55:19
I don't think we can criticise Utd that much for paying over the odds for martial when we recently spent 30m on Willian and 23 on cuadrado. I would rather spend big money on a young player with big potential than older players that have pretty much reached their peak who are never going to be world class.

Agree2 Disagree1

03 Sep 2015 10:03:17
Jackson, why do you think Martial will be better than Kenedy in the long term? Both players are young and will develop but £38m rising to £50+ is a massive gamble on Martial.

Agree3 Disagree1

03 Sep 2015 13:29:30
I am siding with Mrs Costa here Jackson. True we do not know who will progress in the future and Martial has already got a massive mill stone around his neck with high expectations whereas Kenedy will be allowed to develop at his own pace. Martial was a prolific youngster but has dropped away in senior football with a scoring rate just shy of one goal every five games which is not £36m+ performance, played in a moderately competitive league in front of small crowds. Kenedy similarly has played fewer games albeit another prolific youngster and quietly comes to Chelsea for £6.3m and little pressure. I obviously hope all good footballers succeed but my money is on Kenedy.

Agree1 Disagree2

03 Sep 2015 14:25:22
Fair enough, Mrs Costa and Frensham. Who will turn out to be better, it's in no way possible to predict. So we can only say what we think will happen :-)
I just think Martial will be better because I think his close control is better than Kenedy's, and Kenedy seems to be very one-footed (is that a word?). And perhaps most importantly, I think Martial will get a lot of time on the pitch to develop, whereas Kenedy will have to wait his turn a lot.

A certain Mr Messi is totally one-footed as was Maradona!

Hope we get back to form ASAP. think our crop of players are capable of retaining the premier league and mounting a serious challenge for the Champions league. Feel Jose should consider trying Oscar along side Matic and push Fabregas a bit forward to 10. Maybe also try Kennedy or Bethrand on Right wing ahead of Pedro sometimes. Ivanovic should not be starting the next few games. Baba and Azpilicueta as fullbacks. Got the feeling that Kennedy or Traore will cut it this season. Give them a proper chance, not as left back.

What has Pedro done wrong now?? Bloody heck! Some people shouldn't be able to post on here. He took west Brom apart last week and he put a great cross in for Falcao on Saturday. Don't start hating on players who don't deserve it. It's the likes of Ivanovic, Fabregas and Hazard letting us down.

Some people shouldn't be able to post on here? You're right Stalin, let's cut free speech and make everyone have the same sign off name too.

Agree1 Disagree2

03 Sep 2015 02:32:27
sorry mr king of the Chelsea rumours website. Oh you agree with him Do ya then? You think Pedro's been average? I think his first half perform against WBA and the cross to Falcao vs Palace are the only reason we have points on the board now pal.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - what has it got to do with agreeing with him? Do you only want people who agree with you to post? Seems he has a point with the Stalin comment.}

03 Sep 2015 06:41:20
Yeh I don't see me agreeing or disagreeing with him have anything to do with it mate. I don't agree with what a lot of people on this page post, but I will always support their ability to post it.

While it seems like you have a serious issue with people disagreeing with your point of view, which generally shows little or no conviction in what you say or believe. Its a website, for a club, that specializes in kicking a ball into a net. Relax mate

I've seen Zeeb post like 3 times. He should be welcomed not told to do one for his views

Agree3 Disagree1

03 Sep 2015 08:02:13
Magical Eden: Nobody has said he has done wrong and it would be alarming to all if he had in such a short space of time. I for one think he's done OK, nothing to take your breath way, but I do not think he will be a saviour. I stick to my assertion that he will be too small/lightweight for the robust Premiership and will be used over time as an impact player. If you look at him, Saleh and Cuadrado, I still have my doubts if he was a Mourinho 'want' which means only time will tell as to his longevity. Probably get hammered but I think I will be proved correct.

Yes but I think Southampton might have something to say if we start playing Bertrand!

03 Sep 2015 14:49:44
You really do sound like a spoilt brat MagicalEden or whatever you call yourself. if you took time to read the post it says "SOMETIMES" because Pedro is definitely the best we have for right wing at the moment.Still feel Kennedy and Traore should be given opportunities to play on the right wing for their development and not at left back as the season progress. simple. it's a banter page man. Perception differs.

Agree3 Disagree1

03 Sep 2015 18:22:03
Zeeb: I missed your post as I homed in MagicE's. I agree totally with trying Oscar alongside Matic as he does not shirk defensive duties like Fabregas. Fabregas pushed forward is the only place for him and if we come under pressure, take him off. When Hazard comes inside he is very effective and with Kenedy's pace and cultured left foot it would be worth bringing him on when Pedro comes off to do the same. I am certain JM will be playing Azi and Rahman as full backs and we get pace from the back straightaway and as most think, Ivanovic needs bench time or worse to sort himself out and only come back in a central role.

Agree0 Disagree2

03 Sep 2015 21:49:24
'Ivan needs bench time or worse'! Lol, what are you proposing that's worse - sit him in the corner of the dressing room with a dunce hat on? Water torture?

Agree3 Disagree0

04 Sep 2015 09:08:49
Mrs Costa: Worse than bench time? Try NOT on the bench; that often signifies you are well out of favour. Also dear Brana has issues outside football to sort out.

Agree1 Disagree0

04 Sep 2015 11:41:52
What issues?

04 Sep 2015 12:02:03
Mrs Costa: You are one of the more prolific posters but you have to move away from forums and do some spadework and then you might realise why there are issues impacting players and the manager. When hubby Diego gets back from the training ground ask him!

Just wondering where we're at now with our CB's and what everyone's opinions are on them. Are we now at that stage where Zouma is our best CB? I think we are. Terry's experience and leadership alongside him is invaluable but as for one on one defending I don't think I've seen much get past Zoom Zoom. Obviously he's still a little rash and early when entering a tackle and he sometimes mistimes his headers but that's just down to his age and inexperience I think. I feel a lot safer with Zouma CB instead of Cahill. And his pace is a fantastic asset for us. I think we've got a world class defender in the making. What's your thoughts everyone and Ed?

Believable1 Unbelievable0

02 Sep 2015 22:52:33
Zouma should start right now, IMO at least. And I'd let Cahill partner him for now. They looked quite secure against Palace and I'd stick with that.
That said, I'd also like to see a little bit of Djilobodji. I'd never heard of him but I'm curious as to how good he is. Lots of people are saying Chelsea got a bargain in getting him. Looks very athletic and strong and I love that in a centre back.
Looking forward to a defensive lineup of Azpi-Happy-Papy-Baba :-)

Agree2 Disagree0

02 Sep 2015 23:27:02
Agree on some parts Jackson. Still think Terry needs to play for our leadership at the back. Cahill isn't a leader at all.

Not overly convinced on Papy. He should by no means be chucked in the deep end anyway. He should maybe start alongside Cahill against Walsall to see how he does.

Still hoping we go for Laporte next summer of he plays well next year. Him and Zouma could have quite the French partnership. It's also a bonus that he's left footed which would give us the right/left defensive combo.

Let's face it Stones won't happen now. I think way too much has gone in between the clubs this summer to ever broker a deal for him in the future. He's got Man United written all over him.

Agree1 Disagree1

03 Sep 2015 08:23:33
Laporte would be amazing but I've read on different occasions that he's keen on a move to Barca at some point. If that's the case I hope we stay away.

I'll be keeping an eye on Reading this year - I have a feeling that Hector may be the real deal.

I just wonder how Man city can get away with paying so much with ffp they didn't really sell too many players and they don't have the income coming in like Utd and real so why do they keep getting away with it is at Chelsea play by the rules and unfortunately miss out on targets

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Nothing to do with the Chelsea page.}

02 Sep 2015 14:46:51
Ed, with a lot of players again going out on loan (33 I believe it is right now), a lot of prospects from the U21 team of last year left the club temporarily. One who has stayed with the club is Charly Musonda though. Yet he was one of the standout performers for the youth teams last season and the U21 coach (think it was him) recently stated that Musonda was too good for that level right now.
What is the plan for him? Did they think he'd gain more from staying with the 1st team, or did they try to get him a loan but did not succeed at that?
I'd hate to see him stall as he's perhaps our most talented prospect. Any reply would be greatly appreciated!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - I am really not hip to what is happening with the youngsters but training with the first team, an occasional cameo and playing for the U21s makes some sense.}

03 Sep 2015 09:07:49
Yeah, I figured but since he sometimes trains with the 1st team I thought it was worth a shot to ask you :-)
Thanks, Ed.

I think this season is going to be a development season now. It's not over yet but I just think City are way too strong this year they started off exactly how we did last August. Obviously I won't write us off but our next three games are very tough.

Hopefully we'll see Zouma, Rahman, RLC, Kenedy and Traore develop into great squad players challenging for first team football. I could quite happily settle for top four aslong as our talented youngsters get some playing time.

Unsure on Papy Djiliboji as I've never seen him play but let's get behind him and support him. Guy Hillion, our chief scout has apparently been interested in him for two years now. I don't think he'll be first team but we could start him against Walsall maybe alongside Cahill seen as Papy has some pace. Hopefully we'll now see Zouma and Terry as first choice partnership with Azpilicueta and Rahman as full backs.

Last season was a bit of a damp squib really - we were top from day one and City caught up but never looked convincing. This season could get exciting with us playing catch-up. Not over til the fat lady sings.

Steve Parish showing how a chairman should act when a player wanted by a club signs for a larger club. Have to say they have done very good business this window, like Palace as a club so hope they have a good season! (Taking more points off our rivals as well!). Also think that considering we only had ten men for around 40 minutes, our result against Swansea was a very good result. Another good team this season, really rate Monk as a manager and dod some very good business this year!

Believable1 Unbelievable0

02 Sep 2015 13:56:47
I like monk. But I feel as if he can't really be judged becuase Swansea are one of the most well run clubs in the country. It'll be interesting to see his managing skills when they go through a rough patch!

Transfer window finally over! :-)
It wasn't the most exciting summer, but it was pretty good. And I'm glad the club won't just by players for the sake of it just because their first choices are currently unavailable. For example, not buying a central mid might seem foolish to a lot of fans right now, but perhaps it won't be if Koke is brought in next summer.

Massive thanks to the editors for their work during the past couple of weeks. You guys (and girls) are legends ;-)
Hats off to you all!

International break will do cfc good in my opinion the players looked knackered against palace a few might get rested
Other than courtois hazard and matic and super dave the others aren't nailed on starters for the countries could be wrong
So hopefully all comeback injury free and up for it
Wouldn't mind a few of cities players picking up minor knocks

Hi Ed002 not sure if you can do this or not but if possible could you inform us of what happened today. Obviously I know we didn't get pogba but it would be nice to know where bids where placed and reasons for deals not being completed.

Also would like to say a huge Thank you to both Ed018 and Ed002 for there amazing input

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - All that really happened was that Chelsea were unable to reach agreement over Pogba - and there is no point getting in to detail.}

02 Sep 2015 11:16:13
Ed do you see Barcelona trying to complete a deal in January for Pogba to join in the summer of 2016? From the stuff I've been reading the potential financial package on the table from Barcelona would be hard to compete with along with their public pursuit of signing him.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Put aside any thoughts of the financial package, but Juventus will not be keen to sell mid season unless something changes. There is backgound issue at BArcelona that needs to be addressed before such a commitment can be amde by them. It is all a long way off at this time.}

02 Sep 2015 02:34:19
Hey Ed001, just wondering if we cracked the million page hits again yesterday, and if so by how many?

Thanks as always for your input during the window, much appreciated. Keep those podcasts coming! Really enjoying them

{Ed001's Note - not sure mate, we no longer get analytics from our hosting company unless we pay extra for it. The only things we get are from advertisers now, who all provide a small amount of analytics, though they are not given on a daily basis. I will only know on Monday how well the sites did. I don't think we got up that high though, it was a bit of a damb squib of a deadline day, so nothing to bring in the page views from new people searching for info.}
