If I recall Aron when you said that they were coming out from that period where they were struggling. Right now they're the form team in the world but they struggled to click for majority of the first part of the year.

Welsh, I'm sorry but there's a massive gulf in class between Ake and RLC, to Mikel and Ramires. Ake and RLC have potential but aren't near Mikel and Ramires. You're giving the youth way to much credit.

Next season, sign another world class player for the midfeild, keep Mikel, and have RLC , and Chalobah out on loan, he's not going to get games.

Agree with Big Phil

To recap

Courtois, Ruddy, Blackman
Ivanovic, Azpi
Terry, Cahill, Zouma, Varane (if possible)
Azpi, Ake

Matic, Fabregas, (Koke) Mikel, RLC, (Ake)

Willian, Hazard, Oscar, Koke, Caudrado, Brown

Diego Costa, Remy, Bamford

Banter please, and something like that Lol

Chalobah is well ahead of Ake IMO. I think he will come back and (hopefully) take a squad place next season.

Ruddy is not good enough as a back up keeper and what would Bamford gain by being 3rd choice striker? He needs a move to a premier league club on loan to see if he can step up to the required level, same goes for Ake.

I do think there is a little bit of blind optimism with our youths as well. I'm glad reals interest in mikel got announced so people can appreciate him for what he is. We have one of the better reserve holding mids in the world and he just gets ripped. The crazy thing about Chalobah that people forget as he's been on loan so long is he's only 1 year older than RLC. I'd like to see Ake be able to find a position and stick to it in order to help his development.

If you don't play them you never know. Ramires has scored a wonder goal and everyone's loving him again. Tell me then Aron, when was the last time Ramires shown up in a big game. He's only there for his energy he let us down in the Uefa super cup final with his disgusting tackle. I love him for what he's done but I'd prefer Chalobah over him if we want energy. And he's a better passer.

I very much agree with the "if you don't play you won't know" notion but I also know many people have complained about a lack of depth which has cost us most notably in the UCL. If jose doesn't trust full internationals to rotate the squad I very much doubt he'll trust guys who haven't played major minutes in major leagues. It comes down to a balance where a guy like Bertrand Traore who has consistently performed at his club I would be comfortable with far more than an Izzy Brown. The key is finding loans that fit and the perfect example for that is Chalobah. Two years ago he looked awesome for Watford but had a year and a half wasted with forest, Middlesbrough, and burnley.

I don't think I've ever seen him score a tap in or another simple goal :)
Every time I see him score it's a screamer, he's really got an amazing shot from outside the box! He's definitely not the most talented or best player in our youth teams and I'd be surprised to eventually see him make it in the first team, but he's got a thing for those beautiful shots :-)

Hi Ed

Is there any news regarding progress with any chelsea targets, or any change in the players that chelsea are interested in?

Thanks for your help

Just a quick question, what would our squad look like if we replaced out going players with our youth team players/players on loan?

It looks like Mikel will leave, replace with Baker and RLC

Drogba/Remy might be leaving, replace with Bertrand Traore (has been played as a striker this year, and has played unbelievably well by most accounts) and possibly Bamford/Brown.

Luis looks to be leaving, replace with Ake/Jay Dasilva/Kalas.

And just in general Boga/Christensen both look to be supremely talented players, and I would love to see both get more senior football.

Because it looks like we will mostly be losing squad players I am hopeful that at least a couple of these players will be brought in rather than spending big on overseas players. I certainly think that RLC, Ake and Bertrand Traore should be a part of the squad rather than bringing in players from outside.

Who would you like to see brought in/ who of our younger players have really impressed you?

I want to see our youth blooded in as much as the next guy (maybe not as much as welshchels who would play our youth team as our first 11) *thats a joke sir love you* but let's be serious we want to be a dominate force in football that means having a top squad. Most of these players are 5 years away from getting a proper chance at the first 11 with a lot of loans and learning in between. Most won't make it but we will make us money. I would like to see 1 or 2 players getting some minutes and cup games each year to see if they can cut the mustard. This season has shown a need for more trusted squad players to keep us fresh and yes that means spending and selling players who the club don't feel will make it or who simply want to move on xxx

Haha sorry BIGPHIL but I've never seen you on this site before. I just think once Terry leaves we won't have an academy player being blooded into the side. RLC and Solanke have been with the club since they were young. I don't want to see a team full of academy players but I do think the likes of RLC and Ake offer more than Ramires and Mikel. Boga's extremely talented but I think Brown would be a better 5th choice rotation option because he's more developed.

Well said Big Phil, my sentiments exactly. We have a very small squad compared with our main rivals in England and Europe and need 3 or 4 top quality additions to push on next season. RLC and Zouma should see more game time and I would like to see Traore get his work permit and compete for a place. Bamford and Ake will benefit more from regular football on loan as opposed to a few minutes here and there. The younger players like Solanke, Boga, Musunda and Brown will probably stay at the club next season and train with the first team while playing predominantly with the development squads. More interesting will be what happens to Piazon, Baker and Kalas. I suspect the likes of McCreaken, Moses, Romeu and Kakuta will leave.

I'd like to see Traore, RLC and Chalobah/Ake in the team playing quality minutes. Traore provides quality depth and competition for the wing positions and striker. RLC should play minutes next year, if Jose's words are anything to go by. And Chalobah has again proven at Reading that he's good enough to play for us. He could definitely replace Mikel or Ramires in the team. You only have to talk to Reading supporters to hear how well he's done there. Apparently he was very good against Arsenal as well, so that's against quality opposition.
That would be 3 young players in our squad, and I'd be extremely happy with it :-)

Ok Guys this is completly off topic but in the interest of general chat. Pacquiao or Mayweather? Would if been a better fight 5 years ago when Pacquiao was a wrecking ball. Still i'm going to say Mayweather on points. going to be a long fight and hopefuly a good one.

Blueboy, what is your problem with Mikel? I understand you don't like his role but show him some respect seriously. He's a chelsea player and all I see you do is whinge about him

Bet it's shocked everyone Madrid are after him, might not be such a bad player after all.

I've always had a soft spot for him because I know what he's capable of. nobody can deny since Jose came back he's seemed more solid when called upon, the only area he needs to improve on is he's passing & he will get that in Spain! Great squad player never complains

I never felt Mikel reached his full potential. He has been an absolute profesional whilst with us but I never feel confident when he comes on. There is always a mistake in him wether that's a dodgy tackle or getting caught in possesion. I agree he will do a lot better in a situation where he has more time on the ball. Watching him in the ACON he is a different player long attacking balls forward etc. I know that was never his role at CFC and I will always thank him for his service but like Kalou I will not be sorry to see him go as I think we need someone a little better to fill his space. He is pretty good at all aspects of his game but dosent excel in any area. He is not a great holding player. He can't pick a pass under presure consostently enough. He isn't someone who can run at defenders and man he definatly can shoot. He is an goodish all rounder but nothing more. I wish him all the luck and think he will shine a little more in football elsewhere

Ok I have to proof read stuff before I send. Some bad mistakes in there. Most important of all is. When refering to Mikels shooting I said can. now i'm sure it goes without saying I meant Can't. Bless that boy but he couldn't hit water if he was standing on a boat. had to put the correction in.
