As if today couldn't get any better , fergie said he was disgusted by the amount of injury time given. Is that not the funniest thing you've ever heard !!

good match today from torres thought he was really good all round, great to see fernando cfcblue.

Believable13 Unbelievable4

Torres scored a good goal but he was the worst player in a Chesea shirt by a mile. He gave the ball away nearly every time he got it..

Cech-8- 3 key saves to deny Arsenal and no chance with goal
A. Cole-7- Struggled with Chamberlain's pace but still solid at old team's ground.
J. Terry-7- Caught out for Gervinho's goal but otherwise peerless and lead with example.
D. Luiz-7- Did fine, marshalled the air well and provided dummy for first goal. Pointless booking for shameful simulation
B. Ivanovic-6- Struggled against Gervinho's pace and regularly caught out. Also guilty of giving away possesion too easily.
Ramires-9- Man of the Match according to Sky's coverage and consistent workrate and pace shut down Arsenal midfield.
J. Obi Mikel-8- Gave possession away a few times too easily but several good early tackles to break Arsenal counters and shut down Arsenal midfield effectively alongside Ramires.
E. Hazard-7- Worked hard and tried to take on the very impressive K. Gibbs. Several useful crosses and settling very well
E. Oscar-7- Superb workrate and dealt with Cazorla effectively. Excellent link up with Ramires and David Luiz.
Juan Mata-9- My personal Man of the Match, good free kick into box to assist Torres scoring and superb second half free-kick which eventually settled the points. A real wonderful midfield developing.
F. Torres-8- Another hard working performance, superb half volley to score and challenged defenders aerially with a lot of success. More shots need to be taken, he could easily win the golden boot if he takes more shots.
Substitutes
V. Moses-6- Brought on to add some more energy to the attack but failed to make any important impact
G. Cahill-6- Brought on to give David Luiz a breather and stop him getting another booking, but had nothing to do.
Ryan Bertand-6- One notable cut-in late into added time and helped Cole to shackle Walcott but had virtually nothing to do.
Thats my ratings, like to compare them to someone else's?

Match of the Day hate us so everything will probably be lucky and Lawrenson will continue slating Torres as usual. Boring to see it nowadays, make Harry Redknapp and Ray Wilkins pundits alongside Gary Lineker, that would be good.
EH17 {Ed061's Note - I wonder if they bring up Jenkinson's dive and kick out at Cole, aswell as Luiz's.}

Great win at very difficult place.Well played to the team. The most important player that has changed the way the team is playing is Ramires in the middle and also Oscar,even though he did not have a great game he was the vital link up between Torres, Hazard ,Mata and the midfield.Torres was brilliant.His understanding with Mata and Hazard is growing and he is clearly enjoying playing with the ball to his feet.Mata was brilliant as well. Both Torres and Mata were involved in both the goal they scored.
Mikel made some good tackles but he just has to do more as he is not running and can certainly work harder.He tackles well in one on one situations but when the ball is passed the opposition team can easily bypass him.He also drops to the back line a lot instead of tackling in front of them and he also gets caught out of position a lot as he does not have the pace to recover.
The rest were brilliant and overall a very good display.Just waiting for Marin to play.Well done RDM for playing Ramires in the middle.

Super performance by all the players today. Mikel and Ramires were absolutely superb today, they kept Carzola and Arteta quiet, which is no easy job. Torres wad excellent aswell, held the ball up, scored an excellent goal and won a lot of the balls up to him. Defence were solid, by Luiz and Terry caught our by decent movement by Gervinho. Cech is class.

PR! {Ed061's Note - Cech was MOM for me.}

Agree2 Disagree0

I agree ED061, but I think some of his kicks were poor, but his saves were just awesome! Rami or Mata for me!

PR! {Ed061's Note - His saves won us the game. Mata is seriously top top draw. Torres tracking back to steal possession was absolutely pivotal and he once again worked his backside off, although he still looks timid infront of goal. Ivanovic again left us exposed on the right and doesn't get back fast enough when we are countered and IMO its time to give Azpillicueta a stint. Its obvious Oscar and Hazard are still going to take a little time to consistently show their full potential on a week to week basis but with the football brains they possess, we will soon be watching breathtaking football week in week in. Ill be putting a decent bet on us for the league after that game, we have a SQUAD that will challenge.}

Great result ... and Mikel's best perfomance in a Chelsea shirt. Assured, simple and confident on the ball, good pressing and closing down of Arsenal's creative players e.g. Cazorla and Arteta. Also Ramires put in a shift and dealt well with Cazorla.

When arsenal got passed our midfield it was always through Mikel. Do people just think he had a good game because of his few tackles or what?

Agree4 Disagree7

By his own average standards he had a good game, the question is can he perform like that every game. Probably not hence why so many people feel that we need someone stronger in that position. Romeou must get more time in my opinion.

Agree0 Disagree0

That may be true but that was the pairing of him and Lamps which often left him exposed trying to do the job of 2. Romeu may be better and should get a chance but Mikel has been better alongside Ramires.

Ramires CM won us that game, his pace and energy really can shut down the midfield, good win.

PB

Believable10 Unbelievable1

He didn't win us that game. He put in a good shift and did a lot of running but he didn't win us the game. Mata was our man of the match, his efforts brought an assist and a goal. You could also say Cech won us the match with 2 worldies - but to say Ram won us the game is untrue in my opinion... although he did play fantastically.

Like to see Moses in for Oscar, he did pick up his play but started very slowly. {Ed061's Note - I thought RDM got it spot on today with his changes.}

Believable6 Unbelievable3

Yes he did. I got a bit frustrated though with the lack of quality up front with the passing. How many times the ball bounced off somebody's backside? If we had kept our composure we would have scored more goals. Proitos

Agree8 Disagree1

That is true, the difference from last year is clearly team pace and everyone including ft9 working hard to get the ball back after it was lost. Tbh the 1st 20min of the 2nd half was very sloppy, we wasted about 5 good counter attacking chances but overall a great team win.

Look curt Torres scored. No pleasing some people! BLUEBOY1

Agree9 Disagree0

yes i said torres is awful and yes i stick by the even though he scored yes he showed glimpses but quite frankly glimpses isnt good enough if he scores week in week out ill shut up going on about replacing him

curt {Ed061's Note - Curt I realise you love Chelsea but watch the game again. Torres wins balls back in midfield which he has no right to, and has a great understanding with Mata and Hazard. His link up play with them is looking terric. He is currently afraid to shoot when he has a sight of goal but this is his only flaw other than positioning at times. You are on his back every game mate. We won. He scored. We are top on the league, clear 4 points. Try and find more positives out of games, you will find it can actually be more calming.}

Agree5 Disagree1

01 Oct 2012 12:41:44
i got bored of making positives out of games because people made stupid comments even then

if hes linking up with them so well why isnt he scoring for fun

you say his only flaw is hes afraid to shoot ....... correct me if im wrong but a STRIKER shouldnt be afraid to take shots thats what they are there for ............ out of all the flaws he could have he picks the worst one come on 061 lets be serious now if we buy falcao in january torres will be benched i know it you know it and everyone on this website knows it

curt {Ed061's Note - IF curt. Until Chelsea decide to purchase another striker Torres is our no.1. I can understand people getting frustrated with him at times curt, but not when he puts in a great shift. You shouldn't pay attention to people comments if you think they're stupid curt and give positivity another crack, it's a teffific time to be a blue!}

its just few hrs left for kick off arsenal vs chelsea fc.....
the biggest issue for RDM will be again team selection.....
it will all depend how RDM approaches to this game....
will he play ramires again on right wing to give better cover for ivanovic and play lampard in pivot with mikel/romeu will remain to be seen....
i personally think RDM should play attacking trio of hazard-mata-oscar behind torres.....
all of above are getting better understanding of each other...
and RDM should play ramires in pivot with romeu or mikel....
lampard should come off from bench in second half......
in defence i will prefer cahill alongside terry instead of luiz for this game.....
while for full back cole never a doubt for starting XI also will prefer ivanovic because of experience....
my prefered choice starting XI will be

---------------------cech-------------------------

ivanovic-----cahill-----------terry------------cole

------------ramires--------romeu----------------

---------------------oscar------------------------
---mata--------------------------------hazard---

--------------------f. torres----------------------

but i guess RDM will go for........

---------------------cech------------------------

ivanovic------luiz----------terry-----------cole

--------lampard-------------mikel--------------

moses-------------mata-----------------hazard

------------------f. torres-----------------------

lets see what we get to see......

up for blues.......

The curious thing about John Terry's case is that how Ferdinand escaped any penalty after he had supposedly abused John Terry.
Terry was wrong to utter the words he uttered to Ferdinand and was duly punished for it.As the club captain he could certainly have done better than that.
But how come Ferdinand is not punished when he had supposedly also abused Terry ?
