Can't believe the negative comments I'm seeing (not just on here) regarding the Batshuayi signing. He's a young striker with a very decent goal scoring record - one of the best strikers on the market this summer for me. It is a big price but let the club worry about that. Also, I highly doubt he'll be the only striker to arrive this summer.

I think it's because it may mean due to ffp we won't be able to spend as much in other areas as we originally planned for or atleast us the fans hoped to, although I think batshuayi is unproven I don't know too much about him to comment but our previous marseille exports include azpi and drogba so if they're anything to go by he won't be too bad.

Thoughts on Ake's loan? Makes me think Conte will go with wing backs. Personally I think Baba needs a chance and needs backing from Chelsea fans this year. He joined the club at a poor time and let's be honest no player stood out for us last year even Azpilicueta was unusually poor defensively so let's start with a clean slate on Baba and back him. Personally if he is going to be a wing back I think he'll make a very good one. Less worrying about defending and let's not forget Baba is an excellent crosser of the ball.

I've seen a few complaints about him signing for Bournemouth based on the fact Atsu never got look in there. Difference is Atsu isn't Prem quality, something Ake has proven to be. I think it's a positive loan for all involved.
Yeah I expect we'll play wing backs, but Ake defo has a future at the club under Conte. Can play CB, LB and CM - exactly the type of variety in a player that Conte likes. Rahman is a funny one, you'd think he's built for the wing back role and a positional competition between him and Kenedy could be a positive one - I wouldn't be disappointed if he left though.

I agree whole heartedly regarding Baba. It's tough to play well when the entire team is struggling and you get 1 game every 3 weeks. The wing back role will suit him far more and if we sold him we would just buy another player with a similar profile which is poor business.

Only time will tell if he's good enough, I'm happy he's signing. The only problem I have is the player just making up the numbers as we seem to have gone from greizman to higuain to cavani to morata and Lukaku and then out of nowhere signing this Marseille striker. I'm hoping he turns out to be good but I also hope he's a player conte has identified as its his neck on the line if things go wrong which I think is wrong if conte is not the one identifiying targets.

Let's not all start getting negative over this Batshuayi signing before it happens the last player we signed at a similar age from Marseille turned out to be world class and if Conte's happy with it so am I. We have to trust the boss. Di Marzio is saying he was third choice target behind Morata and Lukaku originally but they were difficult so we made a decision. Still unsure what's happening with Costa if we're playing two up top Batshuayi may work out well being more of an athlete next to him he's also very good with both feet. If we're going to play a 3-4-1-2 formation I really hope Hazard will be played in the number ten. Watching him the other night for Hungary was one of the next individual performances I've ever seen from a player. But all in all let's just stay positive.

What do you make of him as a player Ed? Personally I think he's got enormous talent and if Conte cuts out the negative sides to his game from I've seen is that he can be a bit selfish we might have a player on our hands.

Fans on here make me laugh. Moaning we lack ambition when we don't sign anyone then moaning when it looks like we might sign someone.
The price of all players at the moment is ridiculous. Let's support whoever we sign and hope they're good signings. Just because it's not a well known name doesn't mean it's a bad signing.
I rate morata but I don't understand why people are obsessed with him. He didn't always start for juve last season.

I don't want to be too negative but if the reports of Batshuayi are true and he is signing for the package that has been reported, the club will have over payed.
I understand that this is the way the market is now, with everyone having money within the premier league, unfortunately. What I don't understand is that the club will not pay over the odds for a centre half which is arguably needed more, considering the importance of finding an heir to JT.
Christensen is at least one more year off if he comes back, Zouma needs a partner and Clarke Salter, Miazga and Tomori are not the level needed yet due to their inexperience.
I just find it to be bewildering that the club will over pay for Batshuayi, if true, and will not countence over paying to land a player capable of filling the hole which Terry will leave, at least on the pitch. It would seem more logical to use a large chunk of finance to attempt to sign a player such as Bonucci for experience and leadership or Stones for the longetivity and potential he would provide. JT won't go on forever and we have to be ready for the year where he does not sign a one year extension, maybe next year.

So you're not willing to over pay on Batshuayi but you are willing to over pay to a greater extent for John Stones? After the season he's had Stones can't be worth more than £20m, it's only his age and nationality that's causing the high price! I don't think Batshuayi is a risk personally, great athlete, good with both feet, knows where the net is. Overpaying would be someone like Morata, who's going for €50-60m. He can't get a game at Juve, hasn't looked very good for Spain, despite scoring 3 goals - I'd take Batshuayi over him all day long!
One thing o have realised watching the Euros is just how lucky we are to have Deigo Costa! Better than anything I've seen at the Euros! We better not sell him. Pretty sure Batshuayi is being signed to play with him though as Costa is the sort of player Conte likes.
