We are in the same position as City were last year! They won the title and didn't strengthen over the summer, also the hunger and fighting spirit had seemingly gone. Look at them this summer, strengthened incredibly and you can see they are hungry for success and unfortunately we look completely the opposite. Still a long season to go so chin up guys and let's hope for better after the international break COME ON CHELSEA

I'm really worried that with 2 days to go we haven't given ourselves enough time to sign anyone decent. I feel that a panic buy will just give us another cuadrado and well I think we left it too late. I hope not but I feel it will be extremely difficult to sign anyone of real quality at this stage.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

29 Aug 2015 23:46:23
Unless it's already done to me there's something wrong at Chelsea behind the scenes same team that walked it last year so they shouldn't be this bad

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Aug 2015 21:12:43
Well you'd think we couldn't get any worse then comes that performance, I have to agree with Ed018, we need a plan B, think we have for a while now, we look a little flat almost as if, dare I say it, we want to lose, sadly it's like a few on there couldn't care less. Early days still but can't help but feel underwehlmed after what seemed a promising season with one or two major signings think we would have really bossed the league and had a better run in the champions league too. I must admit I am optimistic we could still have a good window, we have been in the last couple of years just hope we don't panic buy cause that would only worsen things.

Ps. On the bright side Kenedy looked quite a player, fit and ready to go in the league, think he and RLC should be more than bit part players and have a right go for the season. Pogba anyone? KTBFFH :)

Believable0 Unbelievable1

29 Aug 2015 22:13:06
Kenedey looks an awesome player, I would play him LW and Hazzard in the 10 role. His pace and physical ability looked a real threat, not to mention his dribbling skills. Also RLC looked comfortable, so like you say, he should get some minutes this season. Worryingly Cesc and Ivan looked abysmal. Fingers crossed Dave gets moved across for the next game and give the new guy a go at LB. I'm thinking a new CB has to be our priority over a CM, first things first, don't conceded goals!!

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Aug 2015 20:37:27
Does anybody actually know what is going on with Ramires? Is he injured as well?
Because Mourinho mentioned that Moses and Oscar were doubtful for today, and that of course Terry was suspended. But he didn't say anything about Ramires IIRC.
Any of the editors know something?
Cheers lads.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed018's Note - no idea. I was actually wondering the same thing}

29 Aug 2015 21:56:51
It's just that a little below on the site someone asked about Oscar and Ramires. Then Ed002 replied that Oscar was injured, which most of us knew. But Ed002 didn't say anything regarding Ramires. So perhaps it's something else. Could RLC really be preferred to Ramires? Good old Mourinho never stops surprising us, does he? :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Aug 2015 20:34:19
Long time till the Everton game but I would definitely drop 2 people. Ivanovic and Fabregas because they can be replaced in my eyes. Baba to Left Back with Azpi to RB. Zouma's pace next to Terry. Matic is too important to drop as we don't have another good CDM to replace him.

4-3-3:

Courtois

Azpilicueta Zouma Terry Baba

Loftus-Cheek Matic. Oscar

Pedro Diego Costa Hazard

Subs:

Begovic, Ivanovic, Cahill, Fabregas, Kenedy, Falcao, Remy

Just my opinion.

29 Aug 2015 21:34:11
would do exactly the same right now to be honest, although don't think it will happen next match now there's an international break.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Aug 2015 21:38:21
I would agree but I would like to see us use two forwards. Falcao has done well when he's come on, not sure how it would fit into our formation though.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Aug 2015 21:58:30
Agreed, though I'd perhaps stick with the Zouma-Cahill partnership. It didn't look too shabby IMO. And perhaps put Traore on the bench instead of Remy. If Remy isn't going to get on the pitch, we might as well give that spot to a youngster.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Aug 2015 20:32:48
I think i'm more upset with the level of effort in today's game than the performance. The level of play today is very close to the worst since Romans been around but the lack of effort on behalf of the team was absolutely the worst in any game I've ever seen going back into the 90s. Wickham was able to hold the ball up against 3 defenders consistently, they won every 50/50 ball, I don't think fabregas ever moved faster than a brisk walk.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

29 Aug 2015 22:27:31
It was truly shocking. Kinda lost for words so far this season. I was putting it down to being 10 days later back to pre season, and some unfit players still, but not even going to try and use that excuse now. Hopefully the international break is a good thing for us.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Aug 2015 18:18:57
Juventus have an offer in for Lemina and Draxler, I might be putting 2 and 2 together and getting 10, but maybe they are planing for life without Pogba? Hope so after today's predictable performance. We need another work horse in the engine room to drive us forward. Why can't Jose see this?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

29 Aug 2015 18:33:35
I hope your right but with 2 days to go I think its wishful thinking. Can u enlighten us at all ed? I could really do with some good news

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Aug 2015 19:44:51
Juve has lost Vidal and Pirlo - these are replacements.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed018's Note - Khedira?}

29 Aug 2015 20:08:45
Khedira is injured for a few months ed

Agree1 Disagree1

{Ed008's Note - Ok Draxler is a No10 he's the player they needed whilst Pogba, Khedira, Marchisio play behind him. Khedira is expected back next month. I don't see Pogba leaving Juventus with 2 days to go in the transfer window.

29 Aug 2015 21:14:51
Unless a Chelsea player or two are going in the opposite direction.

Juve have also lost Tevez so I wouldn't read anything re. Pogba into their signings.

29 Aug 2015 17:54:17
Ed018 could you please tell Ed001 to stop being so sensible and start allowing posts on the Liverpool page. I have a lap full of donuts and would like some late night entertainment!

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed018's Note - haha. You trying to wind the Liverpool page up?}

29 Aug 2015 18:07:43
Just of the opinion it will be more enjoyable reading that page in complete meltdown, then it is reading this one, in complete meltdown.

I'm pretty sure I just read the Mourinho is not a good manager.

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed018's Note - well it's apparent Mourinho needs to break out plan B. 4-2-3-1 counter attacking first, slow in possession football is t working}

29 Aug 2015 18:33:12
What seems to be the problem to me, is in our build up play, we are playing pass and move, with the only player who is moving being the one who is on the ball. Then, like last year, if we need a result, the last 10 minutes turns into hoof it long time.

Mourinho has never been an extremely attacking manager, but he does allow players off the leash, if they make it count. It seems like all the attacking players, including and most disappointingly Eden, are scared to take a man on. Which is strange, as who are they going to be dropped for? Which could also be the issue. They are too comfortable with their position in the squad.

I would bring in one more attacking mid, Isco or Goetze, as both are available, and would ask for constant movement from the 3 behind the striker. If we picked up one of those two, then play with Hazard, Oscar and x. Oscar is the best we have at constantly switching and floating between positions, creating space as he goes.

I think though, what is needed is a change to 4-3-3, with an attacking diamond in the centre. Have Matic holding, and Fab and Oscar as the two advancing mids. Pedro and Hazard on the flanks, both hugging the lines. This way they will create space for Oscar and Fab to run into, utilise Costa or Falcao in the air with crosses, but can also cut in and attack. It at least gives us more options and makes us less predictable.

The real issue is the defence though. Azpi and Zouma are the only ones I would guarantee a spot atm. I don't know that Rahman is the answer, but Ivan needs a rest, so we have to try it. Cahill is no less of a liability, but it isn't as if we can throw Ake in.

Both Kalas and Van Ginkel would offer this squad some much needed depth atm.

29 Aug 2015 18:30:25
He mentioned recently that he is trying to work on using different formations

Agree0 Disagree1

29 Aug 2015 19:20:52
Have to agree with you about our tactical approach. Chelsea is very predictable and our opponents know our weak spots.
Chelsea has a squad to play 433 but Mourinho is not playing it from some reason. Those players superiorly won PL last season.
Probably the team will become better but if we want to defend the title Mourinho has to make changes in his tactics.

Agree0 Disagree1

29 Aug 2015 17:39:48
Slow, predictable, laboured - and how is Fabregas still on the pitch after 90 minutes match after match after match?! I've asked it before: Is Fabregas Jose's love-child? It can be the only reason he is NEVER substituted.

Believable3 Unbelievable2

29 Aug 2015 17:57:17
It is wearing a bit thin Mourinho implying we shouldn't have lost after we have. Something needs doing and doing fast. As easily as won the title last year our second half of the season was poor for Champions and we seem to have gone backwards from that. Overall nobody is performing and we are getting to stage where we need to haul Fabregas off if we are not dominating and as I have gone on about all pre-season get Azi to the right on his favoured foot and now with Rahman get him fit and in on the left. Willian is going nowhere and Ivanovic is totally shot. It is difficult being constructive in the heat of the moment but the performances so far if continued will lead to a painful season and signing Paul Pogba is only part of the answer.

Agree2 Disagree3

29 Aug 2015 17:24:04
The only few positives.
RLC looked good in the midfield, didn't seem fazed at all and tried to play the ball forward.
Kenedy despite being subbed on at LB was driving forward well, had a good shot from range and took players on superbly.
Falcao got some service and scored a super goal.
Pedro looked lively, actually tried to shoot from range etc and created well; got a nice assist as well.
That is everything. Everyone else was god awful. Special mention to Ivanovic who has perhaps produced 4 of the worst performances I have ever seen in recent history!

Believable5 Unbelievable2

29 Aug 2015 18:16:55
Ivanovic and fabregas to me are the weak links! Hazard looks exhausted for me Kenedy and Loftus cheek need to play more Kenedy was awesome and will be a great asset! We are playing with no heart almost like it's expected for us to win this European break is scary also as our players need rest! Not sure how all this will play out but Ivanovic and Terry are done and it's time to retool and rekindle our teams passion for the game! Not sure what's next but we must refocus and Mourinho needs to be quiet for a little bit it's getting old our excuses we are aging poorly and that's it!

Agree1 Disagree2

29 Aug 2015 19:14:05
The players don't need rest, they need to actually play like they care on the pitch.
Hazard was non existent today and the way he just stood around on their 2nd goal instead of picking up the attacker at the far post was frustrating.
Every player just needs to give 100% on the pitch, and that doesn't seem to be the case with some.

Agree1 Disagree0

29 Aug 2015 17:19:05
all the people saying we need to buy players - we dont. we just have ONE waste ruining it all for us and that's fricking ivanovic. if you analysed all the goals we have conceded this season you will see literally all of them came from that right hand side. it has now been 2 games and we still haven't put in a 17 mill defender in to get rid of ivanovic. so that's all we need to do. simply put baba in lb and switch azpi to rb and problem solved! no need to buy anyone!

Believable1 Unbelievable3

{Ed018's Note - that solves part of the problem}

29 Aug 2015 17:18:16
1974 my father took me to my 1st game, have supported CFC since, I enjoyed being a CFC supporter even when we were a mid-table team, loved when Zola joined and loved having Hasslebaink. I enjoyed the football then and when Carlo was here I got back the excitement again. I don't like the way we are going now! We play shit football with great players.

Believable6 Unbelievable0

30 Aug 2015 10:19:04
This is an interesting point - there was much jubilation and celebrating when Jose returned but we all know how Jose's teams play. Think back to his first period with us - trophies but boring, boring football. I lost count of the number of games under Jose at the Bridge that come the hour mark I would find myself looking at the crowd, the sky, the program - anything but the boredom unfolding on the pitch.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Aug 2015 17:08:46
After watching the game against palace, Chelsea are certainly lacking also think hazard and fabergas should be dropped, not preforming and they need to realise that this club needs their best every game. Kennedy who came on was actually doing what hazard wasn't driving at the defence and taking players on.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

29 Aug 2015 17:08:00
Who else is starting to think it's becoming abit of a joke. I can't say for all chelsea fans but the ones I knew agreed with Me that we needed to strengthen. So why couldn't the board see that? Secondly why can't Jose see Ivanovic is a complete liability. Only good thing is Falcao scored

Believable2 Unbelievable1

29 Aug 2015 17:05:54
I support the team win, lose or draw but our football is becoming a joke, never mind the results. This is not something new, we been like this since first pre season game. Let's hope Roman gets angry and brings some players in over the next 3 days.

Believable4 Unbelievable0

29 Aug 2015 17:04:32
Why do we play same formation same players
All so predictable for other clubs
And I'm sick of this passing across box crap
We have no one willing to run past costa like lamps used to
Iva rubbish
Willian scared to shoot
Fabregas great passer speed of a sloth on ketamine
Cbs look done
What's happening no impetus for places they know exactly who's going to play squad depth is poor
Come on cfc sort it out

Believable1 Unbelievable3

29 Aug 2015 17:00:47
Well that was terrible

Believable3 Unbelievable1

29 Aug 2015 17:10:10
Yes it was. It is a continuation of the form we finished last season.
I think the title last year took a lot of effort and the team is paying the price at the start of this season. That's why we need injecting new faces and Pedro has helped. Honestly, we need Pogba and another defender asap. I really do not care about the money or who is highest paid player. If this does not happen there is going to be casualties in September and by that I mean big ones.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Aug 2015 17:12:51
I think most CFC fans are blinded by Jose. he is not a good manager that build a team to last 3 seasons. u keep blaming players but no ask about the manager that picks them and the tactics used. Surely he can not be a cheque book manager only. no buying no perfomance. And I think the substitution today when we are chasing the game to have 2 kids come in is unfortunately message from him that he has no options. I think need to be objective in criticising . should stop deflacting poor perfomance with media circus.

2 weeks for the team to have a serious look at themselves, nobody at all is performing to the level they can do, 3 days of the window left, need a defender and a big physical presence in midfield to run it

This is the only intelligent comment after match.

Agree0 Disagree3

29 Aug 2015 16:57:13
Next game: RLC, Falcao, Remy, Baba, Terry, Begovic, Oscar, Ramires, Traore, Kenedy in. Pedro the only man who deserves to keep his spot. It sounds like extreme changed but that is a truly awful result. We only started attacking after we conceded and only looked a threat after we conceded again! Failure to shoot from longer range, too much needless passing around the box, weird substitution bringing on Kenedy at LB, woeful defending. We look relegation candidates at this rate. Jose needs to just come out, take responsibility, apologise to Eva and most importantly, DROP IVANOVIC!

Believable2 Unbelievable3

{Ed018's Note - I'm for it. Ivanovic and Willian have no buisness starting next match or for a while.}

29 Aug 2015 17:03:56
Kudos to Palace, clearly had done their homework on us. Force us to pass it round and isolate Costa. Wish Mourinho would just tell players to shoot on sight. Mind you with 26 shots today and 9 on target, it's awful we only scored once.
At least Falcao might now have some confidence, and RLC didn't look out of place today, would much rather see a 4-4-2 next time with Begovic, Dave, Zouma, Terry, Baba, RLC and Ramires playing deeper, Kenedy and Oscar in roaming attacking roles and Costa and Falcao as a two up top!

Agree1 Disagree1

{Ed018's Note - we are awful at taking shots from outside the 18 and when we do as you saw Willian skies them no where near the goal}

29 Aug 2015 17:05:41
Look at the tactics! Pedro had been told to defends a little deeper, he hasn't even been running into space its down to tactics!! Azpilicueta, zouma, and and Costa are the only ones trying. Willian is headless, Matic and fabregas are moving the ball too slowly, but I. Their defence their isn't any movements or runs I front of them. We've got to be more adventurous and attacking with the players we have! Kennedy looks a live wire though, loftus cheek can tackle and pick a pass. Our season is on a knife edge four games in lol. Hate sluggish football without any real threat of attacking, I'm afraid this is what Jose does.

Agree1 Disagree0

29 Aug 2015 17:07:21
Ivan too

Agree0 Disagree1

29 Aug 2015 17:10:03
Know it won't happen; but Musonda and Boga both looked immense for the U21 team yesterday. Piazon showed promise as a youngster, why not give them all a chance! Same to Victor Moses!

Agree2 Disagree0

29 Aug 2015 17:28:33
How was Pedro the only bright spot? Other than the assist he was a passenger, much the same as a lot of others.

Won't give my thoughts tonight on the team as a whole, as they won't be kind words.

Thought it was great that Kenedy and RLC got a run out though. Both looked good considering. Kenedy could well cement a spot as an impact sub or starter this year, on that performance. Although I do wonder if they only got a run to encourage Roman to pull out the cheque book, as it was extremely unlike Jose, but did show our lack of depth.

I did get given a 12 pack of Krispy Kreme donuts by the bloke at the servo on the way home. Every cloud, I guess.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed018's Note - glazed or creme filled?}

29 Aug 2015 17:33:37
Both mate. And two jam filled. I've had worse ends to the evening

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed018's Note - yea can't complain about that. I try not to eat to much junk but I certainly love some donuts when there about}

29 Aug 2015 17:48:23
Mate I've been sticking to a fairly clean diet of late, and hoping to start only eating meat I catch and kill myself over the next couple of months, but when a bloke hands you 12 free donuts, you take them.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Aug 2015 16:40:42
At what point do we drop ivanovic and put baba in and move Dave to rb.
Ivanovic leaves us wide open every time down our right. He has no pace and all our issues come down his side.
Come on Jose drop him

Believable3 Unbelievable1

{Ed018's Note - he's lost any ability to defend proper. He can't close down at all, allowing his guy to do whatever he wants}

29 Aug 2015 16:53:04
The Cesar sub made no sense to me, 3 players who definitely deserved to come off before him are Willian, Ivan and Fabregas.

Agree1 Disagree1

29 Aug 2015 17:06:12
I didn't get to see the game but I presume it was so we could play 3 at the back with ivanovic moving to Centre.
Judging from what people on here are saying Kennedy seems to have gone left back, so I'm completely lost

29 Aug 2015 16:36:24
This has got to be one of the worse defences of the premier league ever. What's going on

Believable1 Unbelievable1

29 Aug 2015 16:29:56
At 68th minute, worst performance in a long time at home. No pace, no drive, no shooting, too much square passing. Awful goal conceded.
Hate to say it, but we look naive and lethargic which is very worrying. Struggle for top 4 at the moment.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

29 Aug 2015 16:38:22
I think even the most ardent fan will admit we are playing a slower version of how we finished last season, lots of possession, tippy tap passing and absolutely no penetration and add in the loss of confidence with the defence we are looking very, very ordinary and one can only see wholesale changes looming probably starting with Ivanovic.

Agree1 Disagree0

29 Aug 2015 16:39:48

29 Aug 2015 15:49:05
We seriously need to reconsider Willian's and Iva's role in the team. They are the weakest links in the team and should be replaced.

Believable0 Unbelievable1

29 Aug 2015 16:02:41
Have to agree, Willian offers very little for a front 4 player and plays lazy(ironic) when we have the ball deep. He makes very few runs and cuts and acts as if he's allergic to the 18yd box and stands around a lot. Hazard could also do a lot more in this match.

Chelsea are expected to line up in the following 4-2-3-1 formation:

Courtois; Ivanovic (c), Zouma, Cahill, Azpilicueta; Fabregas, Matic; Pedro, Willian, Hazard; Diego Costa.

I have a feeling Remy is on his way out and Lacazzette in. A CB may still come in, and still an outside chance it might be Stones, although I think that might have to wait until the next window. Pogba on Tuesday at 5.59PM might happen as well.
