Why is Yilmaz moving for 12m euros to Lazio when everyone said he would be over £20m?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I understood the price to be a lot higher when Chelsea were interested.

Thats exactly my point

I don't understand how people could possibly complain at the eto'o signing. First off its a free transfer on a one year deal so if it doesn't work then he's gone next year. Torres is god awful and we all know it, he sh*ts his pants every time he touches the ball, constantly slows build ups, can't hold up the ball, can't finish anymore and all he does is work hard but if your not going to contribute offensively then we should have him play DM because he's useless up top. Ba on the other hand is the opposite, he's slow, lazy, doesn't score goals and the only upside is he can hold up play. The reason why Lukaku hasn't played much yet is because Mourinho is testing out the other players to see who gets sold. Eto'o will be able to hold up play, turn and run at defenders, actually pass the ball, and most importantly score some damn goals. How could you not love this signing and people are saying "no top strikers want to come to chelsea"- this was a tough transfer window because all teams were looking for our targets as well and with the ridiculous money being thrown around thee days its best to wait for a good deal, so well try and sign someone next summer, but for now lukaku, eto'o, schurrle, and torres should let us compete in all competitions.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Totally agree, rather have Eto'o than Ba, they're both stop gaps and we all know who's a better player, drogba scored 30 odd goals the season he turned 32 and won the champions league at 34! I just hope he hasn't lost much playing against rubbishty russian teams

Totally agree!

Do you reckon Chelsea's transfer activity is over for this window? I hope eto'o proves he's still got it but I think he will be like Torres, Pish as he has lost his main attribute (pace)

Hi ed do you expect that's it in the transfer window for chelsea many thanks {Ed018's Note - I would think so for signings unless they sign Atsu}

Does anyone know how much we payed for Eto'o?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Think it was on a free transfer

Agree0 Disagree0

It was a free transfer. He's taking a big wage cut as well, I've heard it's £135k a week down from the £300k he was on at Anzhi

Aiiight cheers for the info lads!

Feel a bit let down the only striker we can attract is a 32 year old goes against the rest of our recruitment policy of young up and coming stars there must be better options out there

Believable0 Unbelievable0

He could represent excellent value for money. I've read the fee will be about 1.5 to 2 million. A player like Jackson Martinez would cost more than 10 times that. 32 is pretty old but I'm sure the guy can still perform (Ibra is 31 going on 32 as well).

Agree0 Disagree0

It's a one year deal so mourinho is still looking forward as he only for a single year. I personally feel a lot better if ba leaves. Eto, lukaku and Torres.

Agree0 Disagree0

He does indeed represent decent value, plus Drogba wasn't exactly young in his final season, not saying eto'o will ever be Drogs for us but age isn't everything these days. He also has experience at the highest level so hopefully can teach out younger lads a thing or two.

Hey this is my 1st time posting on ere and hopefully not ma last
Looking at the bayern squad were not that far behind them they only better than us in the defence mid postion and I don't know why everyone is complaing about the amount of CAM-WINGERS were going to have this year when last year we werereally short in them postions
Bayern have the same amount of wINGERS-CAM as us so can every1 calm down plz

Does Rooney purposely play these games during transfer windows to get an improved contract? Happened two or three times now?

Eto'o might fit in better than anyone else in this JM's tika-taka attempt.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Eto is a poor buy and he is a shadow of the player of 4 years ago. We should know as we made the same mistake with Micheal Owen.

Agree0 Disagree0

If he's good enough for Jose, he's good enough for me :)

Agree0 Disagree0

I guarantee eto scores more than torres and that's good enough for me. look back over the last 15 years, its been these so called past it players like gullit, vialli, zola, mark hughes and crespo just to name a few who have done excellent jobs for the club.

So Jose, back witch I'm happy about but now I fink Jose as lost it leaving mata out side our best player of past two years an Jose seems to funk etoo is better than Torres ba and lakaku me I funk etoo is past is best an we definitely don't want him at the bridge

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Me think you have past your best in analysis!

Eds do you have any idea about bayern munich's injury concerns?it seems they have some of their main players
wil david luiz be fit to play? {Ed018's Note - I have no idea about Bayerns injury concerns. Mourinho mentioned a few days ago that Luiz would probably be able to play against Bayern if called upon}

I have come to the decision that signing eto'o is a good idea after being unconvinced. I always wanted Chelsea to buy him and thought the chance was over when he went to Russia. If we get him for the salary being talked about think it would be an excellent buy (drogba was 34 when he played in the cl final). If we can shift both torres and ba I think we should also buy yilmaz, again for the money being talked about a slight risk but could be an excellent signing. A strike force of lukaku, eto'o and yilmaz is on a totally different level to our current options and would probably also save us money!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I'd keep Torres, he knows the club and hopefully Mourinho will give him a kick up the backside and we'll see some effort from him. With Lukaku, Eto'o and Torres, I'd like to think we should be okay up front now!

Any Ed, can you say how likely at this moment is Mata to leaving Stamford Bridge? Arsenal have confirmed interest in him and supposedly so have Spurs and Liverpool but surely he wouldn't want to step down to one of those clubs? Arsenal are maybe perhaps on par with us but he is still a key player and I suspect now his fitness is back up he will start on Friday?
Can you confirm these suspicions Ed?
COYB! {Ed013's Note - Jose said he wants to keep him, take that how you like. I just can't see how he can keep all these players happy, so if Mata wants a move it could happen with Arsenal, Liverpool and Spurs interested. I wouldn't be suprised if Moyes tried to get him in an exchange deal with Rooney}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Well Mata has come out and said he doesn't want to go. AVB says we won't sell to rivals. Jose says he's not for sale. He wouldn't step down to Liverpool and Spurs have interest elsewhere. Arsenal again are rivals. And United have no interest in him according to one of the other Eds. And the press are now staying he stays. Guess he's not going anywhere.
Out: Moses, Ba, Torres
In: Eto'o, Atsu (loan to Vitesse), Martinez
That would make my window.

I love it that JM is back and think we have fantastic players and young as well so we will be good for the future.
Signing Shurlle didn't really excite me much and nor has signing Willian, was sort of hoping for a Top class striker and now getting quite worried. I do try and stay hopefull that JM has something in the pipeline that we are not aware of and hope to god its not going to be Eto who will just be signing for the last big pay packet of his career.
Is it me or is there a shortage of out and out strikers out there and the role of striker seems to be changing into an attacking midfielder role?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

If Eto'o want's money he'd stay at Anzi on whatever obscene wage he's on, he'd have to take a massive cut to join us. Dunno about you but I'd rather play for less money at one of the biggest clubs in the world then get loaded in cold wet windy racist Russia. Besides the bloke must be set for life now.
