I think today showed why we need another world class winger to go with hazard and oscar.
Willian is very neat and tidy but it seemed only Hazard or Cesc were capable of winning the match for us.

His problem is just he is too similar to hazard or Oscar in that he wants to come inside, but just doesn't have the necessary creativity.
We either need an upgrade on Willian or preferably an out in out winger.

Sell Schurrle to Dortmund as part of the Reus deal to us. Willian on the bench he'd be a great squad player.

Agree0 Disagree0

Couldn't believe Jose took off our capable scoring winger and replaced him with a winger that can't score.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree we need a winger - all of our play comes down the left which makes it easier to defend against us. I like Willian but he doesn't play wide right - Schurrle is just not good enough - Reus prefers to play through the middle. I would approach the Arse and try to buy Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Not going to happen.}

Haha Mrs Costa, I've also thought about Oxlade. Think he's a good player, very versatile as well. But Ed just confirmed what I suspected, no chance in heaven of that happening.

These people wanting koke are making me ill! Why exactly? We have Hazard, Willian and Oscar with Schurrle as backup along with the potential outgoing Salah. He's not as effective cm. He would stop Ake and Loftus Cheek progressing if he did play there. And as for attacking midfield I'd prefer to use Traore as 5th choice he looks a decent player. Not to mention Lewis Baker and Jeremie Boga from our youth.

The only way we should be spending money is If a star like Varane or Reus are available who would really improve us.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Koke is a central midfielder!!

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Dec 2014 22:30:53
Yes he can play there but it's not his best position! I'll tell you what let's just throw money at every player ay!

Agree0 Disagree0

Dude buying Koke wouldn't apprehend anyone's development. RLC is only 18, Baker 20. Mikel and Rami could leave Koke and Ake replace them Baker and Ruben continue their development, don't see how that's a problem. What we don't need is another winger cause we have tons, and I mean tons so if anyone should be told "let's just throw money on anyone" it should be you.

I said that for the only players we would need if someone big left for example I WOULD only sign Varane if Terry was retiring. Apart from that we don't need any defenders for a while. I think Kalas could be that strong pacey right back to replace Ivanovic in years to come. And Christensen could become a big player if given the chance.

Agree0 Disagree0

Christensen should first build up his physique. He's too weak/small to cut it against the teams in the premier league IMO.

Agree0 Disagree0

Kingeden I have to disagree - Koke is a great player and, as has been said, Mikel and Rami would leave. Also, we don't want Manchester United getting Koke.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Dec 2014 12:01:10
I understand you disagree but I do think the RW position needs looking at soon and is more of a problem because we're becoming too obvious. That's why I think we need more of a Pedro/Cuadrado player instead of a Pogba/Koke.

Agree0 Disagree0

If there is a position that we are sufficient it is right winger. Hazard, Willian, Schurrle & Ramires-all of them can cover right midfielder position since we do not use real winger. Schurrle is the only true forward winger among them,or at German NT he is used as secondary forward.
We are insufficient with left footed left midfielder.
ATM we have fantastic squad and there is no need to spend money on more players. If we get a chance to sign top quality player we should do it no matter how expensive that player is (it doesn't mean that we should be spending on Ronaldo or Messi).I don't see any reason why would we buy Koke since we have pretty powerful CMs. Barkley is interesting player but only because he is English and homegrown. To remind you Chelsea has only 3 homegrown players ATM Terry, Cahill and Fabregas!!
TBH I am quite happy with our outer midfielders.
I WOULD LIKE TO WISH YOU ALL HAPPY AND VERY SUCCESSFUL NEW YEAR!!!

Agree0 Disagree0

Wish you the same mn.

I still want Pogba or Koke though. :D

Ed002 if Salah and Schurrle were to leave woyld the club look to find a replacement for both players?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Why complicate matters by putting an "and" in there? Chelsea will maintain a full strength squad.}

Well guys I know I don't post often but after watching the game I need to say something. It annoys me so much how anti-chelsea everything seems to be. The way Saints were playing was reminiscent of how we set up against the big teams last season - teams that were at that time better than us - but i'm not having a go at Southampton. Its the fact that when we played "18th Century football" we were slated and everybody was talking non stop about Chelsea's awful style. We set up that way in certain away games where the opposition had better players and it seemed like sitting deep was the only option if we wanted anything out of the game. What really p***** me of is that whenever 5th placed Southampton sit deep against us it is no longer referred to as "parking the bus" but is apparently "world class defending". Secondly last season when we were one nil down at home to West Brom and got a late, soft penalty, we still haven't heard the end of it. Now today we were denied a penalty and instead Cesc was booked for 'simulation'. Imagine if it was Tadic had gone down from a slip/tackle from Felipe Luis and no pen given, there would be such a fuss and we again would be criticized even more. So now people look and see Fabregas got a yellow for diving, they'll say "even he's at it" or something about us being cheaters. And now from what should have been a penalty and consequently three points for us has put Fab one yellow closer to a suspension. Though i'm not so irritated by Anthony Taylor as opposed to the way the media seem to portray Chelsea at the minute, just really does wind me up

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Juventa mate, you have to see that as a good thing. It only shows how great a team we have become in the last 10 years. We have reached a certain level in world football that dare I say it there is almost a tight that Chelsea would win most games and play well in them too.
What Southampton have done in the past three seasons has been great but them being 5th is really great with what they have, sitting deep against us only shows how good they know we are and it's up to us to break that defence as a top side.

I do agree however that when they criticize mou for parking the bus, it does my head in, defending is a part of the game, not beautiful but a very important part and except Barcelona in recent years every other great team have had a great defence, mou does what he has to tactically to win games and that's what makes him one of the best.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think the silly diving in previous games didn't help with that decision today but the ref should only judge it on what he sees at the time! The linesman might aswel had gone home at half time it was right in front of him so I don't know why he did nothing! It was blatant! I know we should of scored before & after that but it seemed after the ref booked fabregas that it wasn't going to be our day! Thanks to burnley we still got a bit of breathing space

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah completely agree, and I guess it does just go to show how far we've come in the past ten years. Top of the league and having a laugh!

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm not sure Southampton did park the bus - it's not really their style - I think that we were so powerful in the 2nd half that they had no option but to defend in numbers.

Agree0 Disagree0

Mrs Costa although I preferred Mrs Drogba they were forced to park the bus. We were much better team, only due to the ref and pure luck somehow they have managed to win one point.

ginger mourinhoooooooo!

Agree0 Disagree0

Massive let off

Agree0 Disagree0

Ha ha, We love you Burnley we do.

Agree0 Disagree0

I saw burnley play the scousers, and I thought they lacked a little bit of quality to put a couple past Mignolet, but what I did see was hard work and team spirit and boy did they show that again today.

Thanks burnley, wish you guys the best for the season, except when you come to the bridge of course :).

Love it lol

I thought the players coming in were poor today, Luis not good enouth defensively and didn't contribute much going forward and Schurle just not good enouth. Another difficult game out of the way so that's a positive but we have dropped 7 points in last 4 away games. Appears Jose doesn't rate Rami, Remi or Salah to much so maybe a dip into the transfer market in January to freshen things up? or bring back a loanee like Traore or T Hazard if we are able to? Anyway, if you had asked me if I would take being top of the league going into the New Year with Man U, Arsenal and Liverpool all out of the race and a point clear of City I would of taken it.
Best wishes for the New Year all fellow Blues and Ed's.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

City dropped points at home against Burnley, still on top by 3 lads.

Agree0 Disagree0

Regardless of how we started we had a clear penalty denied to Cesc and we would have easily won, we were never really threatened after the half. Probably the easiest 2nd half we've played away from home in the Epl thus far.

Agree0 Disagree0

That's actually true. They never threatened us in the second half. Even in the first half they only had the one goal and that dangerous corner kick. The penalty was frustrating, especially since we all know the recent drama surrounding Cahill and Ivanovic had A LOT to do with the ref's decision. This is why I hate it when our players dive. Probably cost us 2 points today

Agree0 Disagree0

Actually, it is showing how good they are. Southampton are not fifth by accident.
We absolutely deserved to win and don't remember us dominating away like we did during the second half. This is the second game in a row we have bean robbed by ref.

Well damn. Doesn't look good at all

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Thank God for Hazard!!

28 Dec 2014 14:52:55
That hazard goal is huge. Our fullbacks can't seem to string two passes together. Also just as soon as mikel starts impressing he plays a game like this where I question what his role is.

Agree0 Disagree0

Why play such a high line with the pace Southampton have :/ baffled

Agree0 Disagree0

Maybe move Fabregas back, bring on Willian for Mikel. Should ease it up on Matic and more speed to run at the Southampton defence. Not that I think Mikel is being the main problem, we just aren't playing well and we need a bit more speed on the ball.

Agree0 Disagree0

Matic also isn't playing very well today. The play has been sloppy but hopefully that goal can be a turnaround in our play. Think it was our only shot during the first half? Hoping for a better second half

Agree0 Disagree0

Mikel has been too slow in possession it was he's sloppy pass that started their attack for the goal, maybe we didn't need to him in the line up after all, we see how much hazard causes them problems at the back so bring Willian in & drop fabregas back

Agree0 Disagree0

I imagine Mourinho is kicking some ass right about now. Hopefully we can go out in the second half with a bit more confidence and actually play our game. We got dictated too a little in that first half. Mikel and Matic starting in DCM was to try and muscle the centre, perhaps we just need to change tact.

Agree0 Disagree0

Southampton is playing excellent. Every team plays as much as opponent let them play. Thanks god we managed to score! Our left side is much weaker than our right side defensively.
But I still believe that we will win.

Dominated the second half but not had one shot on target, says it all.

Agree0 Disagree0

Shocking penalty call by the ref but we only have ourselves to blame. There are positives from it - Fabregas and Hazard were excellent. But Luis poor, Schurrle didn't even get a look in so I can't even call him poor. Still better than last season in that at least we were making chances but we should've one that. Shocking first 45 cost us

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Dec 2014 17:14:30
We didn't create any chances in the second half.

Agree0 Disagree0

Did you miss the failed Drogba back heel, or the runs in the box. Last season it was worse, i'm just saying it was still improvement over last year. We would have lost that game

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Dec 2014 19:39:01
We didn't hit the target once in the second half and had one shot on target all game, I wouldn't call that an improvement.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Dec 2014 13:26:11
Great to see Mikel, Felipe and Schurrle in the team tonight. Again, 3 points is a must with city breathing down our necks

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I had a feeling that those would be the changes. Just hope to see an effective performance from Schurrle, time to take his chances

Anyone watching the Spurs vs Man U, literally can't understand how it is still nil-nil!!

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm already praying for a win. City will annihilate Burnley :)

Ed where do you think Khedira is most likely to end up? Is a Chelsea move still possible?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - I am not going to get in to answering "most likely" questions.}
