Don’t particularly consider myself wise, but I saw someone say maybe he’s done it so that Cahill can make a push for the England squad with Christensens place guaranteed. Cahills own performances will surely hamper the prospect of that happening though!

{Ed033's Note - Do you consider yourself Morecambe?

Christensen looked tired, was making few mistakes and to be fair Cahill has took his chance and played well, plus the World Cup coming up think helped.

I for one want to see the club push through the youth players over the next couple of years. In wanting to see that I am aware that they will make mistakes, these are highlighted in the biggest games, against the top teams/ players because they have the class to punish the mistakes.

Christensen will have learned a lot from his mistakes, come back next season more prepared; both physically and mentally.

I agree with this players that can hold their head high this season, although I've been very disappointed with Hazard in the whole. Woefully underperformed in big games, this could be down to tactics but I still haven't seen enough from him looking to effect a game. But I will say this about Hazard, he's looked much, much better with the offensive movement of Emerson coming forward from left back rather than Alonso. I think Emerson looks a real class act.

As an older one, wise is debatable. I was not a Christensen fan as I thought him too fragile but once he came back he clearly had made significant strides BUT I am still worried about the fragile bit. Several times he has stated that he was mentally drained and he has openly been left out as tired. At his age that should not happen unless there is an underlying problem. He certainly could build himself up more as he is pushed off the ball to easily and I think Azi's game has been impacted by covering for his poor positional play. Next season one would hope he has sorted himself out and he can make the position his own. To me, he is a player, along with some others, who would benefit from Terry and Lampard being involved.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I am not sure it is an underlying problem, it is more that he has come from a low pressure, much lower stress, lower physicality and pace league and team to Chelsea, where everything is ratcheted up. At least he is being honest and admitting he is struggling, rather than you only finding out when he is a yard short on everything. It is really difficult to adjust between the Bundesliga and Prem, which is why Pep and Klopp both needed a season to realise just how physically and mentally demanding it is on their players.}

I think Christensen has had a tremendous season but he has found out, like so many others, that the intensity of the Premiership and Champions League are different to most other competitions. He warranted a rest and I am
pleased to see Cahil step up to the plate in what I consider to be a more natural position for him. I think GC got away with playing on the left side of a back three last year.
On the subject of intensity and the rigours of the Premiership, I also think that Bakayoko has found it difficult to come to terms with our league but in my opinion in his last two games he has shown signs of improvement and I’m hopeful that next season we will see a vast improvement in his performances.
Our much criticised loan system will bring home some interesting issues for next season.
The likes of Mason Mount (who I rate very highly) will almost cerygo out on loan for a further season but the likes of Van Ginkel, Kennedy and RLC raise different issues.
VG has apparently had a good season, Kennedy has flourished in his new home at Newcastle and RLC has been a revelation at Palace.
The RLC issue is particularly interesting, as I’m sure I’m not alone in being very disappointed in his few first performances last year. He looked, lazy and slow. Albeit he wasn’t played in his best position. He could be our clubs only English player in the World Cup.
I’m a believer that you learn by your mistakes and certainly our club and Conte have made, in my opinion, some this season.
In previous posts I have made my opinion very clear that our clubs management BP is poor and I have no interest in going over old ground.
Conte (and I want him to remain our manager) has in my opinion be slow to make changes to our shape and team selection.
For example I would have like to see us change more often to a back four. Also I would have liked us to play a diamond in midfield with Cesc as the play maker. Playing with two proper centre forwards has only I think been tried once.
Also, I would have liked to have seen Alonso playing playing on the left side of a back three. I would have liked to see Dave been given a rest for some games with Cahil playing in that position. In fact my choice for the back three against Huddersfield would be Cahil, Rudiger and Alonso with Zappa (been awful lately) and Emerson as the wing backs.
Having said that Conte has made mistakes I remain hopeful that he will be less stubborn next season a learn from, in my opinion, his mistakes.

Thank god for that, not a good performance at all. Changes made too Kate and again don't kill games off, Kante covered every blade of grass as usual, bakyoko showed good bits but looked shatters after 65min, needs to much time on ball and that won't happen in prem! Big 3 points though.

bakayoko still looks pityfull to be honest. antonio rudiger has been a real threat all season he's a beast at cb very underated azpi an kante outstanding again as usual emerson looks a player finally good to see him get a game looks more lively dan alonso an better on the ball i thought hed rot on the bench for life thank god for alonso suspension.

Agreed, Bakayoko very poor for the most part (perhaps ok in first ten mins?! ) . He still does not quite seem to know where he should be playing and loses the ball/ misplaces pass too often. Perhaps he is still not properly fit (but then should not be playing) . How he can be picked ahead of Willian.

Coming up to 60 min and we need to make a change, Swansea starting to feel they can get something and we're not keeping ball, willian or morata on and Zappa for Moses before he gets second yellow.

Kill this game off. They are high and giroud hasn't got pace to run beyond, good link up, morata for bakyoko maybe second half,

Similar performance to some games last year and no one was moaning!
We were playing against a poor side but a side that is fighting for Premiership survival.
I’m happy with the result but I also think we have very little chance of nicking a top four spot.

28 Apr 2018 22:11:15
Well please believe me if we play like that next week we will get hammered.

28 Apr 2018 22:26:21
I try to look on the bright side of life!
We haven’t played well and got three points.
Last year that result would have created comments like, “that’s what champions do, they pick up points when they don’t play well” and that’s exactly what that game was all about.
As far as the Liverpool game is concerned, I don’t care how we play, as long as we win!
As I say, I don’t think we’ve got much chance of finishing in the top four anyway but it will give Liverpool and Spurs fans something to worry about for a week or two!

28 Apr 2018 23:01:49
we don't have the quality to kill games off too slow build up play.

29 Apr 2018 01:45:22
Well I want to finish above Spurs there no better than us they just have that one striker that gets them out of jail I no I will get hassle for this tho some of there midfielders are better than ours at minute I still wouldn’t take them as there not good enough for us if you understand what am aiming at.

We have bought so badly don’t understand why Barkley isn’t getting time Baka am sorry doesn’t even look like a footballer his belief in himself must be shot to rubbish as he’s awful fab has gone not what we require Drinkwater another mistake where’s he injured lol my arse just not good enough Moses is embarrassing to say he gets in our side does nothing the only plus for me is Emerson like people have already mentioned he looks a player.

Kante amazing still doing everyone’s work Giroud is a stop gap for someone other than Morata as he’s just not got it in him to battle every game it’s like he's having a stroll in park. Willian looks pissed off today most likely as he didn’t start why? Why didn’t he start another master plan from the boss lol he has got one in him! Most likely as he wasn’t happy been taken off in semi and he’s laying his Italian law down. We looked a lot better for it NOT.

We don’t keep hold if hazard next year I don’t know where we will be it’s going to be a tough few years I think we’re already way behind on squad strengths and abilities. And we’re not looking like we’re going to keep up with the others in terms of spending the problem unlike previous years we don’t just require one player we require 6/ 7 to even be anywhere near the others,

Nibby, I remember people moaning about what a waist of money Salah was. Quickly followed by how lucky we were to make a profit on his sale.
Everyone wants intstant success but sometimes things take time and I would suggest it might pay our club, management and fans to give players a chance and be less quick to judge.

Trying to stay positive but why have we gone 3-5-2 at Swansea. We desperately need a win! There's no goals in that midfield whatsoever.

A win at Swansea this evening and a top 4 spot is still not out of the question. It might be a long shot, but while it's still there to play for we cannot give up on it.

Liverpool dropping points today, and we play them at the bridge in a week or so. And who knows with Spurs, they have a habit of bottling things.

But first things first, we have to beat Swansea. I'm going for a 3-1 win. C'mon Chelsea!

Shows how bad of a result the 1-1 draw was against West ham. Win that game and we'd be in a good position right now. It can be easy to say that with a lot of games this season but those two dropped points were soo big. Need Spurs to either lose two games or win all our games and hope Brighton get something against Liverpool away. Not being clinical has cost us soo much this season.

Zouma has played well against Liverpool . an option next year. looks to be a decent CB. just hope we don't do a salah or KDB.

28 Apr 2018 16:23:39
I really like zouma, good fast CB, still young so will learn and get better postionally and tactically, not great on ball but so much potential.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Apr 2018 16:52:10
Was such a shame Zouma had that horrible injury a year or so ago. If he never had that injury I fully believe he would have been one of our first choice CB's now.

The injury set him back a year or so, but I still believe he can become a vital player for us in seasons to come.

In Zouma + Christensen. We have two exceptional young CB's who hopefully get the chance to establish themselves in the same team over the next few seasons.

Senior team should take note of youth players sbdcway they play, superb first leg and in course for 5 in a row,

29 Apr 2018 09:06:45
I saw the game and as usual we were very good but clearly in youth football they are given far too much space and also and this is where our players get found out as they progress, we are a big team overall and as they get older so many other players become their physical equal. If you look back at those we have let go, few have ever set the game alight.
