Just prior to the League Cup game tomorrow I thought I would come up with a team of young players who I think have a good chance to make it into the Chelsea first team (based on what I have seen). If I have left a position blank it is because I don't think any of the young players playing there are good enough, and if I have left an obvious player out it is probably deliberate. Would love some opinions on this, especially those who might have seen more youth games than me.
Any [] are young players already in the first team.
GK -
CB - Christensen
CB - [Zouma]
LB - Jay Dasilva
RB -
CM - RLC
CM - [Ake]
LW - Izzy
RW - Bertrand Traore
CAM - Boga
ST - Solanke
Again would love some opinions on our younger players, I think at the moment we have a lot who are looking very good.

Certainly all the players you mentioned are very very promising and have the talent necessary to make it at the top. However usually most young players don't quite live up to the hype. Hopefully some of these boys will make it. I'm especially excited about Loftus-Cheek, Boga and Traore. The few times I've seen them, they've looked quite special.

I really hope baker makes it, as Wallace (at vitesse, but should still count) and solanke and brown, and ake, and loftu. EVERYONE!
We have the best youth in the country, and if we weren't busy competing for every trophy, these boys would get through.

I'd put in Lewis baker, charly musonda and Paizon

My head hurts there are so many. A shame not all of them would make it. Be really surprised if Traore, Boga and RLC don't. Think Ale and obviously Zouma have made. Piazon, Christensen are the very good ones o can see just falling short. Hope they all get a fair chance.
Agree0
Disagree0
I think Piazon will fall short unfortunately, he has been playing OK (by all accounts) for Frankfurt, but nothing amazing, and I am not sure what he adds to our team at the moment.
Lewis Baker is probably the player I most want to see make it, but as with Piazon I have not seen anything from Baker which suggests he can put pressure on the current first team, unlike Boga who looks better and better each time I see him play, and only 17!

Surely add in Thorgan Hazard? Eden thinks his little brother is better than him (?!) and he is playing for Bundesliga.
Agree0
Disagree0
Again T.Hazard is one I would love to see, but he is now 21 and not starting many games, he is playing but normally 20mins or so from the bench. At 21 I would want him to be in the CFC team next year, and I don't think he is at that level.

Anyone know if Ivanovic or azpi can play tomorrow? Is it just the league there banned for?
Believable0
Unbelievable0
Both are banned for tomorrow, but we should be blooding a critical mass of youngsters v Shrewsbury. Would hope that there's only a scattering of senior players in starting line-up like Cech, Schurrle and Salah.

Subs: Schwarzer, Aina, Cahill, Musonda, Ramires, Baker, Brown

Jude seen that Dabo, Loftus Cheek, Boga and Solanke are starting for the u21's tonight!
I'm gutted surely Drogba can't play again? I think we might see izzy brown. Seen jt's Instagram pic him Cahill and filipe are on the team bus.
I've gota funny feeling we may see costa on the bench.

Costa's not in the match squad
Agree0

Who is in the mtach squad, haven't seen it? Would have wanted much same lineup as Maticthebeast chose, but unfortunately we may see more use of experienced players than many of us would wish when we surely need to rest as many as possible. But surely Hazard, Oscar, Matic, Terry, Cahill, Drogba, Fabregas PLUS those on injury/coming back should not be in starting line-up, though a couple on bench perhaps.

Ed what's your opinion on Christian purslow? I'm abit worried to be fair does he have a high input on transfers because at Liverpool Ian Ayre was terrible at transfers so I Just hope them two aren't close?

{Ed002's Note - He is nothing to do with transfers.}

Anyone else think Solanke might get a big chance to show his stuff tomorrow? Drogba is probably beat after playing almost 2 full 90 minutes in a week, Remy is still out IIRC and Costa should be given further rest since it's only Capital One Cup.
I also hope Baker and/or Boga get a chance at some minutes. And Ake should get a start. Let's give Matic some rest so we're good to go against QPR.

Any players of our team should be good to go against qpr. We are chelsea and we should beat all teams with any team we play.

So a team of our youngsters should be able to beat City, Real or Barca?

Not to this dramatic point but Chelsea always should be aiming to win, doesn't matter who plays
Agree0

Of course we should be aiming to win every game, I don't argue with you on that. I'd just prioritize the league over the COC. So I'd like to see some regular starters like Matic get a rest.

On the Manchester page, some guys were claiming that our players looked 'smug' coming out of the tunnel. As if the chelsea players thought they were going to crush united with ease. Does anyone else agree with this view? I certainly didn't see it that way.

Didn't see it, but Man U team and supporters are the last people entitled to call others smug.

Some people call it smug, I'd call it confidence.
U have every right to feel confident playing anyone atm, u are the best team in the league by a mile. We made it tougher than I think u expected but all in all it was a very entertaining game.
Atm we are not trying to catch Chelsea, it's more about the teams around us for now, but our time will come again I'm sure of it.

I actually expected a very tough game. True, your team hasn't really gelled yet but the individual talent is quite amazing. If not this season, you'll definitely be challenging for the title next season.
Hope you can give City a good game.
PS: IMO Aguero should have gotten a red card for that nasty tackle.

It honestly shames me to be a cfc fan sometimes with theses moronic fans that slate their team for being undefeated in all comps it's a complete joke! Please go into your bathroom and look into the mirror and say these words out loud "am I a Chelsea fan".
Am just waiting until Costa goes on a little goal drought and here these fans say he was a waste of money but were giving it fist pumps at the start of the season!
Gonna moan just go away we don't want your support

Having an opinion on things does not make you less of a fan.
I stated something about Cahill, and a lot got upset, however it was my opinion, and it was one time. If I was to restate that every single week like some Liverpool fans do to balotelli, or man united fans did to cleverly, then i'd be in the wrong and it wouldn't be supporting my team.
I don't think they're moaning, more dissapointed in having the same thing happen 3 times (man city, shalke, man united), we need to defend more than a 1 goal lead, take crystal palace game for example, we were still fine despite conceding late on.
They're just having an opinion, and were slightly dissapointed, it's fine, all fans do it.

Fans are always going to be critical, becuase they want to do better, and they know they can do better

And you wonder why this site is dead with people like you slating other peoples opinions and telling us we are 'moronic'. If people don't have different opinions the world would be a very boring place. So if you have a different opinion or disagree with someone else, how about explaining why you disagree with what someone has said instead of telling them to speak into a mirror, which I can say personally I don't do so you might want to talk to someone about that.

All I'd add is that late (especially stoppage time!) points-losing goals by opposition are for me among worst soccer experiences. I'm old enough to remember Kano scoring late hat-trick for the Arse against us at Stamford Bridge when we were 2-0 up with 15 mins to go. Quite normal to be upset by this and think that we should not have let it slip again as at City.
But of course we've had a wonderful start to the season, have yet to lose, and should put this behind us and focus on beating QPR. And hope we are not complacent about this one. I was at the match when we lost 1-0 a couple of January's ago -- and they were bottom of the league then!
Has been, and will be, a measure of present team that we do not drop points in such fixtures as we did last season. We better not!

Pinky, I'm sure you post sometimes just to wind people up(you've definitely done it in the past) and lo and behold it's almost worked again, but not quite. It's called being passionate my friend. We all love our club(team) and a "want" becomes an expectation and when things don't quite go our way we are dissapointed. That's what being a fan is all about, passion for our team. Woody and VBS, you both make excellent points but we are (although cfc through and through) all different but hopefully all the same in that we are passionate about our club and our hopes, and therefore expectations. Please don't ever forget guys, that we all support the same team
