Hi Ed,

Apologies if this has been previously covered, but having scrolled down the page I have seen you say 'interest lies elsewhere' when Falcao has been mentioned. I wondered which strikers Chelsea are targeting and who you mean by 'elsewhere'?

Thanks very much for your time, really appreciate your work.

{Ed018's Note - Costa, Cavani. Iturbe has been watched. There is interest in Lavezzi as well}

I don't get the Lavezzi interest, he's 29, high wages and transfer fee and plays on the wing. Hope we stay clear.

Agree0 Disagree0

Completely agree PB. The club seems to have a fascination with attacking mids.

Ed(s), with all three of our strikers appearing to be on the way out. Are we looking at a second striker to buy as well as Costa, or settling for Schurrle as a reserve (assuming we continue to start one upfront). If I am honest, I am not a fan of Schurrle as a striker in any shape or form.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Chelsea are looking at a refresh - as I have explained.}

All 3 strikers out? - has any club show interest in Torres?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Inter and Valencia and he might be offered to Atletico as well.}

my opinion on what hopefully will be chelsea's team for next season:
(dave) courtois filipe
ivanovic cahill MANGALA/VARANE cole/luis
ramires matic
LAVEZZI willian hazard(if not left)
COSTA

bench: oscar, rakitic, salah, terry, schurrle, atsu, mandzukic, KOKE, lukaku

certain players I know may be unrealistic but this is a team I would like to see
ed, any of these players likely for a move to chelsea if not others? please let me know

Personally, signing varane and mangala is a terrible expensive mistake. We have terry and Cahill. Best defence last season. Why change something that ain't broken? Thomas kalas looks really good, and kurt zouma is an excellent signing.

Courtios
Azpilicueta/Wallace, terry/Cahill/kalas/zouma.
Van aanholt/ azpi cover.
Matic/van ginkel/ ramires, pjanic/ mceachran.
Schurrle/Willian/Oscar/piazon/hazard/salah
Costa/lukaku/Bamford

Im a big believer that we need to stop east ring money when we have some really class players in the ranks. If we don't use them were spending millions. Piazon and van aanholt are seriously brilliant. Piazon to challenge Oscar. As I believe piazon will be the better player. I feel Oscar lost his way when mata left as he didn't have to fight for his place. And why sign shaw for 30 million, when we have the best left back in holland last season? We need that 30 million for midfield and strikers.

Agree0 Disagree0

I completely agree with blueboy and have stated this previously. I don't understand why Chelsea are looking at bringing in Varane at the detriment of players like Kalas who has already shown signs that he is capable of performing in the first team. As we have already bought Zouma as well we need to concentrate on finding a defensive midfield player, a creative midfield player and a couple of strikers. I'd also do everything we can to get Shaw at Chelsea. We have the money, it won't be a waste as it would be paid back over the next 10/15 years as he is so young and his potential is there for all to see. Considering we spent around £30 million on Willian but won't spend similar on Shaw, it just doesn't make any sense to me.

Agree0 Disagree0

They want varane because he is probably the most potential wise best defender in the world at the moment it's that simple, would be a great buy! Kalas, zouma, varane. not a bad choice for centre backs wouldn't you agree?

Agree0 Disagree0

Blueboy you have forgotten Ivanovic

Agree0 Disagree0

When you get the chance to buy world class talent, you don't turn it down. Especially with our best centre back nearing the end of his career.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed018's Note - agreed. Varane would be a great signing}

I think if we bought him, I could see Zouma going on loan in the PL. Then next year Terry moving on and possibly Ivanovic leaving us with Varane, Cahill, Zouma and Kalas. Kalas providing back-up for Azpi.

Agree0 Disagree0

And ivanovic, how did Oi forget this man. Plus ake and challobah, I just feel we always push the young players so far away they never have a chance. Van aanholt has been sublime for vitessee this season. It's like the matic thing, selling him in part of a deal then buying him back for how much exactly? I also believe if mceachran was at arsenal when he was 16, he would be the best passing and creative midfielder around ATM. Maybe I expect too much from these young players. I just think Chelsea really do suck at bringing them through. Which is another reason ancelotti should have never been let go of.

Agree0 Disagree0

Guys, just as you mentioned Piazon. Do you know who got award for best young player of Dutch league? Filip Kostic lw from Groningen. Second best was Lucas Piazon.

Who is better?

Jose mourinho or Carlo Ancelotti?

Well for one I'd prefer if we had Carlo in charge over Jose and love his attacking style, he also wins a lot and I still wish he was our manager. Sorry Jose, I love you but your style is pretty boring. Yes Jose wins stuff but Carlo ancelotti is also not a dick to all the players, unlike Jose who upsets them everywhere he goes

Thoughts?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

It really depends on the way you want the club to run and players the club has. That said jose beat ancelotti when they both had very comparable teams.

Agree0 Disagree0

Going a little for the flavour of the month, a case of MOTD fever, eh Billy?

I loved Carlo when he was here, and still massively like and respect the guy, but for me it's Jose all the way. I never feel like a game is over when Jose is in charge, and besides, he isn't negative, he plays to win. With the squad we had this season, we could hardly play open, expansive attacking football. There were some great signs in some games though, and I truly believe that with the right signings, we can have an amazing season next year.
You simply can't blame Jose for some of our poor results. I remember at least 3 or more games this season where we had 20+ attempts, and either drew 0-0, or scraped a narrow victory. A more clinical forward would have won us those games, and allowed the whole team to just relax with shooting a whole lot more, I'm convinced, producing all around better results.

Nah mate, no flavour of the month, just really liked the guy and the double winning season was up there with 2005-06 when we first won league.

Very good points and you could say Jose us better as his inter beat Carlos ac Milan.

Both brilliant coaches but I prefer ancelotti, for the goals mostly lol, but still love Jose no doubt

Jose for me no doubt, but then again I do feel Carlo needed a little more time but wasn't given the opportunity to really make a huge impact which he is capable of, that said Jose all the way for me. I do however agree with Billy in the point of Jose pissing off his players, only downside about him. Other than that easily the best in the game.

RM with CA is playing much more defensive than under JM. JM played defensive counter attacking football due to inh.players from managers before him and wrong decisions from Chelsea board. JM still holds a record in primera with 120+ scored goals per season.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think we let go of Ancelotti too soon, saying that I agree with Rowey in that the style of football we played this season wasn't due to JM but not having a balanced enough squad to get away with playing attacking football. Also to Nkch, I wouldn't say that CA plays more defensive footy, he holds the record in the PL of 103 goals.

Agree0 Disagree0

I haven't said CA is playing defensive football in general. I just said RM was playing more careful and more defensive than under JM that is why they won CL. What I believe is that next season Chelsea will change formation and style and start to play offensive but balanced football.
