Love the fact according to "pundits" we have no chance of winning the league because we look weak defensively. Man utd & city's defence's are air tight then?? Maybe fulham & Southampton are the new Barcelona & real Madrid??

Believable4 Unbelievable1

Everyone hates us. were gunna get better and better, oscar, marin & moses to play & intergrate yet. BLUEBOY1

Agree2 Disagree1

Yeah, weve had 2 clean sheets but our defence is clearly terrible

Agree3 Disagree0

I am a Everton fan and i think Chelsea could win the league easy, you have a great team and the lad hazard is a great player, in defence i think you look ok to so good look guys for the season.

Agree4 Disagree0

Plus like few pundits said which I agree with is at moment everything has gone through hazard, what if his injured, i wanna see marin and Moses see if they can step up

Alan hanson has probably opened his giant gob about it

everyones going on about this new look chelsea, but there's only one player that didnt play last season, of course torres is like a new signing and the style is different, but di matteo is doing superb

Believable4 Unbelievable1

That player has made a big difference though, Hazard has been involved in 7 out of our 8 goals.

Agree2 Disagree0

Its the mata hazard torres link up. all 3 understand eachother really well already. ivanovic is playing realy well aswell.

Going to be offline until next Sunday due to work commitments, however my predictions for ins and outs before the window shuts are; Malouda , Yossi and sturidge to leave. Hulk and Hernandez/lorrenta in. Big ask but it's what I'm going for, wouldn't be surprised if Essien leaves too. Anyway enjoy deadline day peps and don't work the Eds too hard. :)

I actually thought Mikel was a quality player today, let's hope he keeps it up.

Believable4 Unbelievable0

Yer he did play quite well. He can hold a player off must be his strongest attribute. If he can make a few cutting passes and carrying pushing forward hell keep his place. He has had a lot of criticism recently and to be honest i don't like or rate him, but he is starting to turn his paying style around. If he carries on for the rest of the season I'll be happy for him and us. Because its about time he started filling his potential. BLUEBOY1

Agree1 Disagree0

I agree that Milel has improved a lot the past couple of games but does anyone think we'd do any worse with Essien, Romeu or even Meireles playing in that role?

Hazard had 15 assists in the entire Ligue 1 last season.
He already has nearly half as much as that in 3 games.
Eden Hazard, welcome to the Premier League!
CFCFOREVER!

Believable5 Unbelievable1

Yeah but in official statistics do winning penalties count, like they do in fantasy football, either way he has been a key figure in 7 of chelseas 8 premier league goals...

Agree2 Disagree0

The only problem about him is his name. The commentators always attempt hazardous puns which are really annoying.

25 Aug 2012 21:34:36
Lukaku had a good game vs Spurs, tormented their defence a lot, and created spaces. This is what AVB said of him after d game: ¡°When Lukaku came on he was a handful, and created lots of problems, [being] strong and holding balls to his colleagues.'' Hope he keeps improving, can't wait to have him back.

Bas!cs.

Believable6 Unbelievable2

Yeah apparently tottenham had a pretty comfortable 1st half the lukaku came on & made vertonghen look like a mug. Changed the game & that's the words of Phil Thompson. Must have made him sick to say it which makes it all the sweeter

Have to say when I seen the line up at the start of the game when I seen Lampard out I was a bit dubious. When you see our bench with Moses and Cesar not on it it's great to see the strenght, depth and quality of our squad, really looking forward to he rest of the season

Awesome first half by both Torres and Hazard, supported very well by the team.Torres was in in elements, some of the tricks and flicks were just mind blowing. He kepp dragging the defenders all over the place with his runs thus creating lots of space for others.Hazad was also phenomenal.By the way what a goal, simply brilliant,Torres at his best and what vision from Hazad.
RDM played Bertrand to stop Ben Arfa and it worked well. But I would really have loved if Oscar had some game time.A cautious and solid second half.We could have attacked a bit more and gone for more goals, but as it is just the start of the season so the tactic was understandable. All in all,a very solid display. We will definitely keep getting better.

Toon fan here! Good game tonight, see a few of you are annoyed with the 2nd half but to be honest we were done, I can see you or city taking the title this year..... On a side not proper wish I'd went with my gut and stuck hazard in my dream team instead of Mata, that guy is UNREAL!

A good performance happy with the 3 points looked great going forward solid in defence. Wish we could've pushed on in the second half & don't really understand the defensive tactics in the second half. I know the game was already won & Newcastle changed their formation & played a bit better but we went off the boil & created nothing in the second half. Can't complain really but we had nothing to fear today & could've gone on to score a couple more. All in all tho very happy.

Believable1 Unbelievable1

25 Aug 2012 19:27:41
Loved the first half, looked like a new Chelsea! But for me second half was a bit of a joke. To sit back n counter attack with the quality we have, but stupid I think! Could of got 3/4 if we carried on at the same pace! :)

Wheelycfc

Believable4 Unbelievable2

One way of looking at it mate is the two games we sat back second half were already won

its only 3rd game of the season no point wasting too much energy when your 2-0 up

curt

Agree7 Disagree1

Yh true... But Newcastle can be a dangerous team! But we still we won so all good!
Would have been nice to see Oscar tho!

Wheelycfc

Agree3 Disagree0

Would have liked to have seen Essien, Oscar and/or Sturridge get a run out in the second half but otherwise very pleased.

SurreyBlue

Agree4 Disagree0

Sick of this faulty reasoning, if u don't use the energy on offense you'll use it on defense. We didn't do anything outside the norm in the 1st half so the point is why change it? A 2 goal lead in the 1st half in the EPL against a good team is not insurmountable, would just hate for that attitude to bite us in the arse down the road. I'm happy with the win, one of Mikel's best games.

FloridaCFCFan.

Agree3 Disagree0

Totally agree. Would've loved to see Oscar & sturridge. We won & that's the most important thing. Just hope it's not a tactic we use next Friday. Ath Madrid are are good side & we'll get punished if we sit back. Same goes if we use this tactic against man utd/ city etc.

Agree2 Disagree2

So would you guys of been happy with all out attack 2nd half and get done on counter twice and drew 2 - 2? Weds night vs Reading 2nd half we went all out attack and rightly so, but today we were completely cruising at 2-0 against a decent side so why even chance taking a risk.

Agree0 Disagree0

Second half was played at a slower tempo though definitely, and that takes less energy

Agree1 Disagree0

Best form of defence is attack

Half time 2-0 - not nearly over yet but more positive signs

Torres needs to shoot more though, instead of holding it up and passing it back

Mikel has been solid, top performance to neutralise the Newcastle midfield.

We have Hazard and Marin to cover the left

Mikel offers more than Essien at the moment. That's why he starts. I'm not his biggest fan, but currently he's the best option for the role.

IB.

Umm i disagree essien offers more if right. and what do you mean atm? he hasnt played so we dont know. RDM has his favourite people not players. essien looked really good pre season & mikel didnt, i cant see RDM logic. BLUEBOY1

Agree3 Disagree1

In pre-season Essien was moving into space to pick up the ball, Mikel was leaving huge gaps and not pressing (still and always will be lazy). I would love to see Mikel sprint.

Agree2 Disagree0

Essien doesn't have the legs anymore. Mikel is being chosen for a reason, and I doubt it's because RDM has a secret crush.

To be perfectly honest I'd like to see a replacement brought in. But doubt it will happen.

This is the team that i would like to see today:

Cech

Ivanovic-Cahill-Luiz-Bertrand(Cole given a rest)

Ramires-Lampard

Oscar-Mata-Hazard

Torres (Sturridge the last 20 mins to inject a bit of pace into the tired newcastle legs.)

-Dont know if Terry will be fit.
-Bertrand is more then capable to rotate with cole think his pace will be to much for the tired wide-players from newcastle who on thursday.
-Get torres on the scoresheet let him have a rest the last 20 and let Sturridge get some game-time upfront.
-Essien on for Lampard later in the game just to get some more mins under his belt.
-If we are in a good position Azpiicuetta should come on for his debut late in the game.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

Sign ya posts mate, agreed with most but lampard off for Mikel. Rami can help him a lot tracking back. I'd bring essien for Mikel 65mins azi for last 15 and sturridge same time.

Cant remember where I read the article, think it was a web site have supposedly quoted RDM on saying after Moses joins, Chelsea will be finished with the transfers. Alright fellas I'm back for good. Can't personally wait for window to close so the regulars can get back to real footy talk. IMO we need a striker but not desperately. Schurrle would be ideal but looks unlikely, cavani is a beast but not convinced it will lift nandos confidence so I would rather see hulk. Cover on right and can play as a striker. I guarantee you right now sturridge will not be sold.

Romeu has a buy back clause with Barcelona around 9m so I wouldn't expect him to play regularly with song going their he may get a better look in. I realise they are completely different players.

Javier "chicharito" Hernández has got to be asking some serious questions at Man Utd?!.

I said last week that I couldn't see him leaving Utd but after recent events I may have to change my stance...

RVP signed, he failed to make the bench vs Everton, Welbeck gets a new 4 1/2 year deal, Utd sign another striker!!

He may not move this week but if his situation doesn't improve then he'll have to be looking for a move in January, won't he?

Cech/Turnbull
Azpilicueta/Ivanovic
Terry/Luiz/Cahill/Ivanovic
Cole/Bertrand
Ramires/Mikel/Lampard/Romeu
Moses/Hazard/Mata/Marin/Oscar
Torres/Sturridge

The rest are surplus in my opinion Malouda, Kakuta, Essien, Meireles, Fereira etc or should be sent on loan for experience such as maybe Lucas Piazon, Adam Phillip and Thorgan Hazard.

I still believe we need one more striker who needs to be a proven goalscorer but not a huge signing like Cavani, I think the perfect sort of signing would be Chicarito from United, massively down the ranks, used to not being the number one striker, young, fastest player in the league, brilliant positioning, would perfectly suit our new brand of football and already has experience in the prem. I would also take Soldado as he would create a partnership with Torres even if they weren't always on the pitch together and is a quality finisher or Leandro Damiao as he is strong skilful and would fit in brilliantly with our already strong Brazilian contingent, also having played with Oscar in Beazil it would help them both settle in.

Btw, its no longer Adam Philip, its Adam Coombes.

Hernandez isn't the fastest player in manchester United much less the league, but I agree with you we need a back-up striker.

Agree0 Disagree0

Hernandez was officially the fastest player at the 2010 world cup so he may well be the fastest in the bpl.

Agree2 Disagree0

I honestly doubt Hernandez is the fastest player in the league. Is he as fast as Bale, Walcott, Lennon or even our own Hazard no way, not a chance. I'm not saying he is slow, but there is a decent amount of players I say that are faster than him in the EPL.

Poster here, regardless of his pace ranking, he would be a quality addition

im surprised adam johnson went to sunderland. i would rather have him than victor moses to be honest

Believable3 Unbelievable9

Think we went with Moses he is powerful and strong, something Johnson isn't, Marin is like Johnson so Moses offers something different, in my opinion anyway

Johnson isn't happy just as a squad player and wants to start week in, week out. Moses on the other hand is happy just to be part of the squad. Both quality young homegrown talent though.

just read a good article on we aint got no history. even with malouda, meirelles, ferreira weve still got two places for international players over 21. now we have 8 homegrown, terry, lamps, cole, bertrand, moses, cahill, sturridge & turnbull. so allowed 17 overseas, cech, hilario, ivanovic, luiz, ferreira, mikel, essien, malouda, meirelles, mata, marin, ramires, benayoun, torres, azpillicueta. and the under 21s oscar hazard, romeu. 2 spaces for over seas. looks like chelsea and the board know what they are doing! pretty good to know. who would you pick to fill the 2 spaces? i would go fernando of porto and falcao of ath madrid. cheers BLUEBOY1

Believable4 Unbelievable1

The same two players I would bring in Blueboy. Fernando looks like the closest player out there to the legend that is Makele, and i think his price would be more reasonable than a Fellaini or M Vila!

This is the Fernando that plays for Porto correct? The club that want 80m for Hulk.

I'm sure he'd be reasonably priced!

Or not.

IB. {Ed002's Note - Chelsea has had a long term interest in Fernando.}

Agree0 Disagree0

One of the eds has previously said that Fc Porto would consider bids in the region of £10m for Fernando, that's why I'm saying he's reasonably priced!
MB {Ed002's Note - Whoever said that has misled you.}

Agree0 Disagree0

I know of our interest Ed. Was just suggesting that Fernando may not be as reasonably priced as suggested. Good to see you back, appreciate your time.
