You know what I've got a funny feeling we might see Musonda start Wednesday I know it's a big ask but I definitely think he's capable of it.

I would be surprised. Its an important fixture and we need all the main players in the starting 11. Even though our squad is strong, I don't think we will get a positive result with our 2nd string players.

It's unfortunate that MC have a weaker European fixture and could rest players. There 2nd 2nd string players should be be more than enough.

I do t think so eather. Morata is on form at the moment and besides he knows the Athleti's style of play and will be an assit for us against Laliga teams.

Bakayoko has played 180 minutes last two games he will need a rest. I'd personally go 3-5-2 and go with Cesc, Kante and Musonda Jr. Musonda can play deeper as he's got a good work rate.

You are asking way too much of the lad, and this is Champions league where we have to go with our strongest side especially against Athletico Madrid.

What are you talking about?

Have to agree with Wheely here. Solidify the midfield with Kante and Bakayoko whilst Cesc is on the pitch to pick out Hazard and Morata's runs. It's going to be a tricky match that's for sure, will take a draw with an eye on the City match.

I don't think he will start Fabregas as he is at his best when we are going to dominate play and has time, against AM we will have a lot of pressure and it will not suit him.

Cesc will start 100% but possibly in a more forward role alongside Hazard and behind Morata. Kante and Bakayoko in central midfield.

Conte will not change the system. Pedro, Morata and Hazard upfront,2 men central midfield. Probably Kante and Bakayoko ( with Fabregas replacing him if necessary) .

Good win yesterday. Unsurprisingly we looked much more in control after the introduction of Fabregas and Hazard. Stoke were applying pressure, but apart from lofting balls in the box from set pieces they didn't really create anything. I think that's a testament to our defensive play as Stoke really possess a lot of quality attacking players.

One thing though. Crouch's tackle was a bad one. Easily as bad as Luiz' last weekend, and might've even been worse. How come it's mainly our players getting sent off for that type of challenge though? Cahill and Luiz were rightly sent off. But Crouch only gets a yellow? Same with Gueye's tackle on Cesc, Dier and Vertonghen's tackles against us. Where are the red cards when opposition players perform similar tackles?

I know there's no campaign or anything against us. But it is baffling how our opponents don't seem to get punished the same way as we do.

Agree totally, Jackson. I would say that Crouch's tackle on Fab was worse than Luiz - and Mark Hughes is going on that Alonso should have been sent off!
Also, Match of the Day didn't show the Crouch tackle and didn't even mention it in the post-match discussion. But it's lovely Peter Crouch, isn't it?! Crouchie and his robot dance - don't want to talk about one of the most disgraceful fouls of the season - not our Crouchie - disgusting bias.

Every win is a good win especially when you win 4:0 away, it has to be good win.
I don't who and who, but both Manchester clubs have 3 points more than us. But that's not a problem. The problem is that both clubs are impressive and confident. If we end up in top four this season that will be huge success. Simply competition is more difficult this season.

Let's believe that there's no campaign against us but from the way pundits are analysing and criticizing Chelsea this season, u can't completely say that there's no campaign against us (cos its sickening and boring) . I just hope the referees aren't caving into the pundits criticisms of and making it worse for us on the pitch.

A lot of the pundits don't want Chelsea to win the league but I guess we will prove them wrong. 😜.

Trouble is we have had this conspiracy theory for few years. We do come off worse. I didn't see crouch tackle but I think back to vertongans tackle. However the players we have had sent off deserved it. All we ask for is consistency. The interesting ones will be when we come up against city and Utd. See how we are treated then. Personally I think it is more about we have problems with 3 poss 4 referees.

The standard of refereeing in the Prem is truly awful.
Mike Oliver is the only above average referee and the executive who manage the referees never put forward any reasons for the poor standards and lack of consistency that go on week after week.
If the club, manager or player complain they are given a fine. The standards won't rise unless they except valid criticism and work on a plan to improve their standards!

We need video evidence - a video ref would have taken 1 video replay to see that Crouch should be sent off - 30 secs at most.

25 Sep 2017 16:41:17
Video referees are a must for severe tackles and penalties nothing else or the game will lose its flow. Rugby is somewhat different being a stop, start game.

Miss Wood the video ref has been used in rugby for many years and yes it does disrupt the play a bit but if they allow play to continue for advantage reasons till it stops and then go back to check the footage. It will be giod for the game in my opinion even if it counts against us it still doeant matter cause foorball promotes fairplay.

Bakayoko will soon adjust to the pace and aggressiveness of the league. He only needs to be aware of opposing midfielders around him.

Accidentally tapped sent when I wasn't finished I'll continue on this post

Not all bad though, Baka was a force off the ball and is a good passer. Morata was great, Willian was not. Hazard showed today how much of an improvement he is on Willian.

The defense I am not convinced about, namely Alonso, while he is a great defender, his weakness seems to be balls played behind him and city next week will exploit that. If we aren't careful, city will roll us over next week.

Champions win them games though and that's exactly what we did. Here's hoping to improvements throughout the team.

Was at the game yesterday and yes Stoke could easily have scored a couple but we could have scored another three.
Alonso had a poor game but generally he has been excellent (Spurs away) for us and he can take a wicked free kick.
Willian is now moving into just being a squad player. His effect on games is minimal and now slows our play down!
Christensen looks like a top player. Good defender with lots of composure.
I've been going on for the last few weeks how Morata reminds me of The King. He could be another legend at our club. His first and second goals were class.
Bakayoko looks like a bargain. Physically strong, got a bit of pace and can see a pass.
Next week will be the first test for City and I think AC will do a job on them and WE WILL WIN.

That second goal of Morata was pure Osgood, as soon as he got the ball he knew exactly what he was going to do and to slot it in from that angle was a player starting to believe in himself. As mentioned elsewhere, the defence is looking very vulnerable, especially on the left, from ball playing teams that get in behind you and our ability to defend crosses is worrying. Goalkeepers and defenders should attack the ball not wait until it reaches them. I feel sorry for Willian, a real trier who gives it everything for little reward and I can see him being the perennial substitute with Musonda making his breakthrough.

It is very easy to get carried away by a 4-0 win and today is a supreme example of it.

We were not good, and we were very lucky that stoke didn't finish there chances. Fletcher should have scored as should (choupo moting? IIRC) . Also, we were so poor at defending corners. That's why we need Cahill in he's the only one that attacks corners I counted three times the ball went in, it bounced in the box before we cleared it. It's poor.

Also, Bakayoko and Kante in the midfield showed that while great off the ball, on the ball we suffer. Kante has improved immensely in that regard but Bakayoko showed why Matic (fabregas) is so important to our midfield, they bring great composure and do not lose the ball. Baka lost it about 5 times and against a better team they would punish us.
