If Jorginho can be lost so easily in a game by being marked then we have huge issues of his Sarris man,

I still can't wrap my head around- a playmaker with a low to no ball winning ability (Jorginho) sitting in front of the defense while a seasoned defensive/ ball winning midfielder (Kante) plays further up the pitch especially when our attack isn't firing. I think there's an imbalance there which will always be exposed whenever we play against a good team that can attack. Think of all the most successful teams in Europe (that had excellent play-makers), I don't remember any that played in front of the defense- they all played off a good defensive midfielder (either beside or in front) even the ones that are or were deep lying playmakers.

I don't think that Spurs would have scored their 2nd goal, and certainly would not have scored their 3rd goal, if Kante had been playing in his proper position of defensive midfielder. It is a problem - is Sarri man enough to admit his mistake and change the system?

Jorginho isn’t a defensive midfielder, and isn’t there to win the ball, his there to keep the ball and dictate the play, kante is there for high energy and to win the ball back and press and force other team to give ball away. our problem is the 3rd midfielder hasn’t got the ability of dele all For example who scores and assists .

Fabregas has a better final pass then Jorginho. and it’s not even close, but Cesc hasn’t the legs. And if jorginho can just be marked like v Everton and today and go completely missing then every team we played will do that and that’s a huge problem, then we have a striker who is lost and winger who has no end product ( football brain ) and a defender who appeared today to be scared of the ball, I saw people slating kante today and couldn’t believe what I was reading.

Hi Matt, you are right to say that Jorginho is in the team to keep the ball and dictate the play (which is what a central or deep lying playmaker does) . I think the problem isn't his role but the position from where he plays his role- which is the ball keeping and game dictation (from the position of a defensive midfielder) . This means he will always have to contend with the problems of a defensive midfielder (which he obviously isn't good at) . If we had a very strong defense and an attack that score goals, maybe it might not be so much of a problem; but with a relatively weak defense and attack, such a midfield (of Jorginho in defensive midfield position) will be a problem esp when we come up against good attacking teams. I feel the balance isn't right.

obinna123: Both your comments highlight the Jorghino/ Kante issue mentioned earlier in the season. When we are under pressure the top teams run right through Jorghino whereas Kante is a different proposition; as we found out with Fabregas, you cannot have a midfielder with no ball winning ability against the top teams.

Don't want to seem all doom and gloom, but we're just starting to see our players slipping back into their old ways under Conte.

These players were magnificent for Conte one season and a shadow of that the next. And players don't become that much worse in one summer.

We've started well under Sarri, but the players are just beginning to look disinterested again. I could just be jumping to conclusions, but we've seen it time and time again.

Let's hope for a great second half performance and I'm made to look a fool here.

People saying it's 1 below par performance, but it's not. We've been pretty poor over the past few games. This performance is exactly what we saw time and time again last season.

Sarri has been banging on about our mental problem recently and now we're seeing it once again. Disagree all you like, but something isn't quite right.

People will always have their reservations about a team no matter how successful or unsuccessful the team is; and these big games are the acid test of how good you are- as a team. Personally I think Chelsea should begin to look beyond certain players. Sarri could make a mistake if he puts his faith on certain players.

ChelseaLRD, it's not just one game it's been coming Everton we were poor and even the Europa games we been poor. This has been ready to pop up for a bit they won everything and wanted it more and let's be right they have not been playing great but made us look amateur big January forget right winger we require a striker as morata know where near good enough give drog a bell.
