Just watched the game back again. Willian really does have it all if he can add goals. I've said on here before my dream signing would be Bale ( FFP etc unlikely to happen ) so let's stick with what we have and give T.Hazard, Piazon and Traore a chance.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

William is a fantastic player and deserves more credit from fans. Cuadrado is at a similar level to Willian

When a player puts in the sane amount of effort that Mikel has for 8 years (or however long), he is surely a legend in my eyes. HE Loves the club. He puts in his all for the club every game. He is happy with a minor role and has never complained to the media about us.

Just becuase he hasn't scored 140 goals for the club, and hasn't got 70+ assists, he's one of our most consisten players we have in our team. He's a leader.

Remember when his father got kidnapped? And he played through that and played for us? That's dedication, I don't care if he earns 150 k or 50 k, that's dedication.

Agree0 Disagree0

Dosent make you a legend does it ha ha
drogba. lampard. zola . osgood . cech. terry .how can you mention mikel in the same breath as these LEGENDS!!

Agree0 Disagree0

Well you're probably right that he's not in the same bracket as guys like Terry, Zola etc, but you can't deny that he's a very valuable part of this team.
Like Aron mentioned, he's been around almost since the beginning of the Roman era and has been a consistent performer for years as well as being an almost automatic starter under a plethora of different managers.
Mikel isn't spectacular, but he's solid as hell and indeed he hasn't once complained about his reduced role. I'd consider selling Ramires before I'd consider selling him.
Mikel ---> Awesome

Agree0 Disagree0

I wouldn't call him a legend as it kinda reduces the meaning of the word. I think I should be kept for our greatest and most memorable players. That said, Mikel is one of our most loyal and respectful players. He chose us over United which set him off on a good footing and hasn't ever given reason to doubt his commitment to the club. Maybe he isn't a legend but he's a good person to have in the dressing room and an excellent ambassador for the club.

Agree0 Disagree0

Totaly agree with all his good points, but that does not make him a LEGEND which is what was said about him . and to be fair I don't see him making to many starts, normally comes on when were 1.0 up and we concede late on

A legend is way over the top i'd prefer to sell him and use Ake he's a better player.

I hated Mikel being in the side he was always lazy running back to help the defence when we got countered.

He might have been here 8 years but he's not a legend he doesn't work hard and I think the only reason he wanted to stay was to happily do nothing and get paid well for it

Agree0 Disagree0

You guys maybe .
1. Do not understand the role Mikel is assigned
2. Don't like what Mikel brings to the table
3. Have a different veiw to me

Let's get this straight, I'm very dissapointed in Mikel, he had all the potential in the world but he didn't seem to make it. I wouldn't call myself a big Mikel fan, becuase I'm not. But I cannot doubt how consistent and hardworking he has been for us.

I've come to realise, many on here don't like him at all, however on we ain't got no history, he is a favourite!

I agree it may be a little to much to call him a legend right now, but he defensively will be one when he leaves or retires with us.

Ed018 what do you think of Mikel mate?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed018's Note - he's not a legend that's for sure. When the team needs to be a bit more defensive and see a match out he does a fine job at that. He offers very little going forward and I think Matic has really shown how he is on a much different level than Mikel while playing the same role as him. In short though he's fine in the role he's in. He's never gonna be first choice}

Can not disagree more with you maticbeast

You think he played the night his father got kidnapped to be lazy and get paid?

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree with your points, maybe I'm being a bit to far fetched :)

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm sorry but working hard and not complaining about always being on the bench does not achieve legend status. Mikel has been a good servant, but honestly nothing more.

Agree0 Disagree0

Makelele is a legend in that position because of is ability to play the role. Unfortunately Mikel never had the positional sense or game intelligence to reach legendary status.

Agree0 Disagree0

Wayne Bridge is a legend just for his winning CL goal at the Library; Torres is a legend for his goal against Barca; I can't think of anything Mikel has done to make himself a legend.

Who do people believe will win the champions league this year?

And secondly who do people believe will be the over-acheivers?

I'm going for Real Madrid, and Porto.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Wouldn't know about overachievers. I think perhaps Dortmund will overachieve (with all their injuries and stuff I don't know if many people expect them to do well). They can give any team a tough battle I reckon.
Bayern will win it IMO. They have a crazy talented squad and they don't have to focus much on the league.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Nov 2014 11:38:54
Us going to win it this year, and overachievers will be roma basel or ludogrets any team which eill be 2nd after real.madrid as liverpool definatelly won't qualify from the group

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Nov 2014 13:20:11
BVB overachieving?

They're currently in a relegation place in the league!

Agree0 Disagree0

I think the overachieving comment was based on Dortmund's CL campaign, not their domestic league.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah only overachieving in CL I meant :)

Winner for me comes down to bayern or real. For overachievers I think atletico can still do some damage if they're allowed to be considered an overachiever. They'll prolly come out of thei groups as leaders and by the time of the knockouts simeone will prolly have them on the same page.

Winners: Bayern or Real or Chelsea

Overachievers: Leverkusen

Agree0 Disagree0

Real or Chelsea if draw is kind. PSG outside bet.

Agree0 Disagree0

Chelsea or Bayern to win it. Atletico outside bet - no still seems to rate them even after last season.

i don't understand why is everyone crying out for us to (once again BUY and SPEND) more money, this time on Reus. yes I know he may be available for a decent price and yes I know he's a quality winger. but, its about bloody time we blood in one of our own wingers from our youth. and the two guys i'm hoping for are piazon and thorgan hazard. time to take a slight risk next season and get these two boys integrated.

and also no need to buy anymore cms, blood ake and possibly van ginkel in and get rid of mikel.

we don't really need to spend for now. about time we rely on our youth!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Becuase it's Marco Rues. Possibly the best winger in the world currently, (behind robben and ronaldo imo).

People have been crying for a right einger who has the work ethic of Willian and end product of hazard (debatable) and Marco Rues is exactly that.

Agree0 Disagree0

And I understand you wanting to get rid of mikel, but he deserves to stay.

Already a chelsea legend in my eyes.

Agree0 Disagree0

Mikel is decent enough to have on the bench. You never hear of him causing any trouble regarding playing time. The only problem I have is maybe his spot on the bench is holding back one of many promising youngsters we have at chelsea.

Was just wondering what would Chelsea fans (and even eds) think of a 'challenge' being available to each team once in the game.

It could be used to challenge a call such as a penalty not given, or a false offside call. I have seen some pretty awful offside calls this season, and I believe a challenge being available to each team whether it be defending or attacking.

Today I saw an offside call on Lallana, who, if he controlled and scored, would have been not allowed, even though he was clearly onside. And also the other way, such as defending. I believe if it was to be challenged to the 4th referee, then it would be beneficial.

I don't know where I stand on this as it would defensively slow the game down, but I believe it could benefit the game.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - I don't like that idea myself. I can see the merits in it, but I would rather we just improved the training match officials got and helped them with aids like lines on the pitch for offsides etc.}

Fair enough, could be an idea for a poll?

And it was meant to say Definetely slow the game* lol

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - yes actually, but I will save it for when we make some changes to the polls system, so that we can have questions like that appear across all the relevant sites at once and the results be collated for all to see. Good idea to have that as a poll though thank you mate.}

No worries mate, always here to help, I can only imagine how difficult it must be to do polls on every page.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - it takes up far more time than I realised, which is why we are going to change over to having them across the footie sites as one. Though we will give a breakdown so you can see how people voted on this site, as well as how they voted overall. Might be more interesting anyway, seeing the variance across the sites.}

I agree it will Be, I asked on this page, arsenal and MU page who the best of ADM, EH and AS was, and I was very surprised to see Hazard the best, according to most.

If you ever need help, with anything on here, I'll do my best :)

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I am going to run that as one of the first cross-site polls to see if the result is still the same by then. As it might take a while for Ed033 to get to that part of his to do list, which is extremely lengthy, as I keep thinking of new things for him to do! He has a lot of work to do on the profiles and got to get our horse racing game converted to HTML5 + a hundred other things before the polls, so it could be a while. Be interesting to see if everyone still thinks Hazard. I would have to say that my personal favourite of them is Sanchez, but Hazard has a better system around him and so is more effective.}

Damn Ed, when using this site you just never realise how much work and time you guys put into it.
We're very grateful for that, kind sir! You're all doing a terrific job.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - cheers mate, I never realised how much work it would be when we started the original rumours site back in 2001. I don't know if I would have done it had I known! There have been days on end when I have missed sleeping to chase up info and keep the sites ticking over. The Liverpool takeover by FSG, for instance, was taking place in a number of different time zones, so every time I took a nap I was waking up to insane amounts of posts. I ended up just giving up sleep to try and keep up. It was exciting though.}

You guys have way too much to do. You should Definetely get paid for it, both of you, the amount of effort you put in is quite amazing.

Agree0 Disagree0

Well, hats off to you guys! Maybe you wouldn't have started the site if you'd known back then, but I'm sure as hell very happy you didn't know then haha :)

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I have to say, it has been worth it overall. It may never make me rich in monetary terms, but I do feel richer for the experiences I have had through the sites.}

Ed001 for president (and all the rest of you).

2001 hey, wow, I guess it started with just the one rumours page. Pretty cool stuff. How many editors are there at the moment?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I think about 15 that are regularly about, plus a few that are off and on as time allows.}

Is ed061 still around? Great guy, remember him from 2 or 3 years ago.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Eaten by wolves.}

Damn is he gone :( shame

Agree0 Disagree0

Back to the original question (although agree with the love-in!) - the time has to come where 'third umpire' technology has to come in - referring decisions to a TV replay wouldn't hold the game up that long - if it is a close call the decision automatically upholds the original referee decision - for example, the Costa goal on Saturday would be referred but the original goal decision would stand as it was too close to call (although I think it was marginally offside).

Agree0 Disagree0

I had been wondering along same lines as Aron. Can see Ed 01's point, but I would think a review system at some stage quite likely for major leagues/competitions given that tv audiences can see whole series of wrong decisions each week OR, and this may be more acceptable to those in FA etc, refs should be encouraged to consult off-field official in front on tv monitor -- this as per rugby union --and ask them whether there is any reason to award/not award goal (if suspicion of offside)/penalty/send someone off ie specified match changing decisions. Would at least rule out most blatant injustices or wrong person being sent off as happened in our game v Gooners last season.

My thanks too to all Eds for vast amount of work.
