Got a sneaky feeling that this year we'll come 3rd in the league, and win the Europa League, Club World Cup and one of the domestic cups. 3 is the magic number.

The arrival of Benitez is a sign of make or break for Torres. The arrival of the manager who coached him into one of the best strikers in the world is a last ditch attempt by Chelsea in hope that he may regain a glimpse of the player he once was. November/December will be his time of redemption or his last stint as Chelsea 's number 1 striker.

December will be interesting

Torres as to be careful. Because of the hate that most Chelsea fans feel towards benitez, if Torres continues to fail in front of goal, he may get booed, because of his association with the waiter.

Agree8 Disagree0

Well, we needed creative players to play Torres in, didn't help. Then we go for Rafa, what's next, Gerrard?

Hopefully we don't end up with a red away kit :/

Why does everyone think Benitez was appointed because of Torres? Are people really that deluded?

IB.

Maybe its you thats deluded my friend

Roman is a businessman, with a £50m investment almost failing, I think he will try to salvage what he can from it and this is his last try. I think even if he starts playing well, he'll be off, but with a slightly higher price tag.

Craig

Agree0 Disagree2

Rafa was the best manager available for a short term appointment. The fact he has worked with Torres successfully before is just an added bonus.

Friends - Didn't we know that we are short in front before the last transfar window close! We spent money on wings and midfield and left front in failed strike forse. Why we alwyes wnat to spent a huge millions where we can go for moderate amount ( £15/20m) and can buy PL and CL caliver strikers. Huge amount becomes a burden for the players as well as a core focus of the media.
DM should have given more fire power and more time. He might become a Pepe or Alex one day. Please stick with one good manager for long time that will bring more success otherwise................!

One of the reasons I think we can at times be accused of having no class is our fickleness.
We are a very successful club with very high standards.RDM as much as we all love him was struggling
We have not kept a clean sheet for 10 games this is not the form of a side that will win trophies. Defensively
We have been all over the place and I don't think an ageing and increasingly injury prone JT will necessarily
Come charging back into the team and rectify all of the frailties. The summer is a long way off so let's get behind Rafa and see
What he can do. The first task is a big one Man rubbishty but whatever the result I will be looking for a bit more organisation in defence.
I this moment in time I couldn't give a toss who we appoint next summer, we still have five trophies to compete for, lets all get behind our beloved
"Blue boys" and our interim manager.

All football fans are fickle including Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern, Liverpool, Manchester United, Milan fans and this has nothing to do with class. Our issues are many as a football club: instability, overpriced/overpaid players (esp. the underperformers), no faith in our academy, bad image of certain players (indiscipline), etc. Now, that's no class.
BB.

Agree6 Disagree2

I don't agree BB, Modern Chelsea fans are spoilt rotten. I can remember standing on the terraces supporting a crap
Football team fighting relegation in a dilapidated ground. I still loved the club and the team because they were my team.
The players were no better behaved years ago; they are just a lot richer with a lot more media exposure now.
As for the club infrastructure it works I think you are reading Howard from the sun a bit too often, its bull.
Count your blessings Chelsea Supporters we are successful and will be more so going forward. Keep the faith all.

Agree6 Disagree1

I too remember the old days, in many ways I prefered them. I agree we have become spoilt, it amazes me the level of expectation now.

I know club wants Pep. But i'm not sure it will work under current climate and power set up. Mourinho pretty muchhad it his way. And boy did it pay off. Been paying off after he was gone, too.

I understand club had conversations with Txikhi, but did not make a deal. We have a sporting director whom noone heard of, or knew of, before he popped at our doorstep. It would surely not work under Mourinho. And i don't think it would work under Pep.

When talking of them both you are talking of Messi ans Ronaldo of management. Every club would want them. But you don't bring in Ronaldo or Messi to play them out of position. Hence if either came over, it could seriously be under this method of power distribution or set up.

You can't simply bring Pep or Jose and sack them in November if the results don't go your way. If you keep ignoring the true problems, they are tend to reappear. We are a perfect example of it. We're in a slump every november/december for the last few years now.

I wish for either if them to join us. And i wish for a shake up at the club management in general. (The way we handled referee controversy after United game and what it has done to our image should have gotten that fat person out tge door already. But no, he'll continue working on expanding "the brand". And you fume when they call us plastic. We syrely are classless)

Just get the feeling pep does not want the chelsea job. If man u had come in for him now, I bet he would cancelled his years sabbatical. Jack

Believable3 Unbelievable3

Jack that's really negative, no one can know that.
As for pep well he worked with a fantastic set of players not sure how he would get on developing and creating his own team anyway from his spiritual home at Barcelona. The best manger on the planet is Jose and i would love to see him return home. However Rafa is in charge for the rest of the season baring any disasters and he should get our backing. The past is the past but i am a Chelsea fan until i die and would give Graeme Norton my support in the role if he produced results.

I've just read an article about Torres, shocking if true! It says that when he was injured at Liverpool, they pushed him to play games, not telling him the whole situation with his injury. And when Chelsea came calling, they were happy to sell because they knew his situation wasn't good, they even thought he wouldn't have completed the medical at Chelsea and that he would return back to liverpool. But apparently there was not enough time for Chelsea to complete the whole medical (as it was the 31st of January, last minutes of the transfer window), so they completed only the part of the medical, not finding out about his knee problems.
So the transfer went through and Torres seems to have been struggling ever since, not having recovered from his injury. Rafa is well aware of the problems, as he was the manager of liverpool when Torres got injured back in 2009.
One option is that hell never recover, the other is that hell still have some good games, but still some periods when hell really struggled.
Shocking, dunno if its true but its been reported by some really reliable media (guillem balague, the independent, the guardian, the national,...).
