Is that gonzalos brother.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed033's Note - Or is it Gonzo the Great's brother? :)

Higuain in the number 9. Let's hope this curse ends 😆.

23 Jan 2019 20:45:50
Higuain is official, marina has said he was the number one target. I want to know 2nd and 3rd targets,

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - You think that some chick of Stingray is telling you the truth?}

23 Jan 2019 21:01:43
Haha I was hoping to bait you whilst so genourous today for bit more info on targets,

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Jan 2019 21:03:40
Hahahaha so who was the first choice then Ed002?

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Jan 2019 22:57:08
The board wanted Icardi, Sarri wanted Higuain.

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Jan 2019 23:13:00
Who cares now be happy.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Jan 2019 11:34:46
With Piatek going to Milan for £30m, I think we may have missed a trick in buying the old car rather than the new. If Higuain fails and Piatek is a success, will all you Sarri fans admit that Sarri's a menace to our club?

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Jan 2019 13:45:46
Are you ever happy MDW? Why would you want a half a season wonder over a proven player? Has Piatek done anything to play for chelsea yet? He has only played top flight football for a few months, he come from a mediocre league prior to that. So you think his ready already? Have you considered whether he could play under massive pressure because he WILL have to lead the line and get us the top 4? Have you not considered Morata's struggles mentally?

The situation we are in calls for results and not to take silly gambles with unproven players. We need champions league football mate. Higuain is your safe gamble, he is a champion who has won it all and is not likely to suffer by the pressure of it all. He is the most likely to deliver and get us top 4. He shouldn't be fazed bt the pressure because his a serial winner.

It may work, it may backfire. who knows. But its more likely to work than let say Piatek leading the line. A player who is unproven and may struggle against the defenders in our league and not to say all the pressure on his young shoulders to fire us into top 4.

Be realistic mate. This isn't football manager where you could put piatek in chelsea and he scores 50 goals per season.

Agree2 Disagree0

24 Jan 2019 23:47:45
A half season wonder v a proven player? Drogba v Torres? And you, CFCShak, would of course prefer Torres (or Shevchenko or Crespo? )! Thank God you're not, and never will be, the manager! Stick to FIFA Manager.

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Jan 2019 20:16:08
just a general question boys does anyone else that's old enough of course get pis$$ed off that the league didn't exist or wasnt really that important before sky took over the premiership even major stats are just premiership related now on the telly like football didn't and certainly wasnt important then j
sorry for rant just a bugbear of mine in my opinion football was ten times better then on the field that is .

Believable0 Unbelievable0

23 Jan 2019 20:46:21
well before my time really when i started watchin football it was sky sports andy gray martin tyler ruchard keys.

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Jan 2019 21:47:59
Football was a lot better when it wasn't all on tele, every single day. 3pm Saturday kick offs were the best. Settling down watching Grandstand on Saturday afternoon, got teletext on when someone scored. Then settling down watching MOTD. Great times. Not like now, on all day every day!

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Jan 2019 22:32:43
100% agree Adam. Staring at the teletext waiting it to flash with updates haha.

24 Jan 2019 08:47:02
Sure, I remember us beating Boro in the Zenith Data systems cup in 90, Dorigo scoring a free kick!

23 Jan 2019 17:45:59
Barca with the big signing of de jong, great signing for them. now I think they'll need to raise funds. Dembele would be first choice, then coutinho. I've never beleoeved the coutinho to Chelsea rumours. maybe something in it? What do you guys and Ed's think? Fekir or countinho or any truth.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

23 Jan 2019 18:03:02
i would say fekir or coutinho only id hazard left personally don't see us splashing out on either to be honest would be some statement imagine fekir and coutinho ahead of kante in a 3 man midfield wow. saying that i don't no if it would even work as i don't no fekirs position or if coutinho can play cm.

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Jan 2019 20:21:53
Haha yeah would be some statement and s little to attacking, poor kante would be knackered, Cho Pulisic hazard Higuain, just one of coutinho / fekir would add so much, plus a middle player to take Cesc, Ruben neves, auorer ( spelling ) of Lyon linked today,

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Jan 2019 20:48:15
neves is quiet special im always wondering how moutinho never ended up at a huge club such an underated player i no he was with monaco dat seaosn they won the league etc and porto but he could of went to bigger dan that in my opinion.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Jan 2019 00:18:14
Magic i think Moutihni could have went to a bigger club but he chose the Money of Monaco (he joined them at that time when they were spending crazy money for players) .

So will Higuain be a HIT or a MISS guys? What are your thoughts?

These are some of the notable strikers that have graced the bridge and my opinion on them.

Hasselbaink - Hit
Kezman - Miss
Shevchenko - Miss
Drogba - Hit
Kalou - Miss
Torres - Miss
Anelka - Miss
Costa - Hit
Morata - Miss
Giroud - Miss

For me the the real standouts in recent times have been Drogba and Costa. May have missed some here.

Higuain = Hit.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

23 Jan 2019 15:13:01
Hit. i rhink he will do well. May not be a huge hit for a long time but if it works out. who knows maybe the younger gen can learn from him how to be a SF in the Sarriball system.

Agree1 Disagree0

23 Jan 2019 15:17:57
i disagree on anelka been miss i thought he was a very good player the time he was with us.

Agree3 Disagree0

23 Jan 2019 15:24:35
anelka scored 59 goals in 146 apps in all competitions that's a goal every 3 games decent record considering we also had players lile lamps and drogba getting 20 plus goals a season if some1 else other than hazard could actually scored 20 odd goals a season wed be flying never mind if wed 2 outside hazard doing that. 15 million looks a steal for the return now on anwlka for me.

Agree1 Disagree0

23 Jan 2019 16:18:21
anelka i don't agree.

Agree1 Disagree0

23 Jan 2019 16:32:15
How is Anelka a miss?! He won the golden boot in 08/09.

Agree2 Disagree0

23 Jan 2019 16:37:36
You forgot

Adrian Mutu 🙈
Robert Fleck 🙈

Showing my age with the last one.

Think Higuain will be a hit, maybe not of Drogba proportions but let's face it he can't be any worse than Morata has been.

Agree1 Disagree0

23 Jan 2019 17:22:39
I liked Kalou, he was good coming off the bench and scored some important goals. Also he never moaned.

Chris Sutton Miss.

Agree2 Disagree0

23 Jan 2019 17:23:46
Anelka was most definitely not a miss!

Agree1 Disagree0

23 Jan 2019 17:32:49
The post wasnt about Anelka. I was very undecided with him but called miss but that's my opinion. Maybe i expected more.

Its about huguain.

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Jan 2019 17:40:51
Also based Anelka on 125 league appearances and 37 goals for chelsea. Obviously was 2nd fiddle to Drogba and played out of position. He is one for debate though, i've gone miss.

I forgot Mutu ever played for us lol. Sutton was a big miss.

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Jan 2019 17:46:56
I’d like to throw Crespo in there too as a HIT! Very classy player!

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Jan 2019 18:05:09
ya crespo was a really decent player mate.

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Jan 2019 18:07:58
what about claudio pizzaro gents what a flop he was. also id put batshuayi as a huge miss
falcao and pato miss miss i no they were only loans but still huge misses.

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Jan 2019 18:26:22
Eidur Gudjohnsen. Hit. Loved that bloke.

On topic, I really think Higuain’s best days are behind him, but if he can manage to score 10 goals for us this year I’ll take him as a hit, as long as it doesn’t stop us for going for someone who can be the guy for the next few years in the summer then I’m all for this. Hit if he scores 10.

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Jan 2019 18:26:53
Loved watching crespo play.

23 Jan 2019 18:30:01
ah yes gudjohnson was a gigantic fan favourite.

{Ed0333's Note - how he missed that chance against Liverpool in the semi finals of the champions league at Anfield I’ll never know. Every time i see it I think he’s gonna knock us out.

23 Jan 2019 19:05:49
overall a really decent guy and i no he was a really good person towarda supporters aswell i no a couple of supporters who got pics and autographs with him i even no 1 supporter who gave him an award from d chelsea supports club cork ans got a snap before a game back in 2004.

23 Jan 2019 19:46:56
Pierluigi Casiraghi. he could have been a massive hit if not for injury.

Gianfranco Zola HIT, HIT, HIT
Gianluca Vialli HIT
Mark Hughes HIT (hated him at Utd, loved him for us)

23 Jan 2019 20:14:47
There are so many strikers there that i have missed. Gosh i didn't realise we went through that many and only a few have been hits.

Errr I’m not having kalou down as a miss, was really good squad player, word tirelessly, frustrating at times but like Mikel was a good servant and he did score a few, Anelka was superb that season with Drogba when he got golden boot and the year we were robbed by the ref v Barca. things could of been so different hey.

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Jan 2019 20:24:46
Spizzy, how could I forget Hughes and Vialli. I think we would have won the league that year if Casiraghi hadn’t been injured.

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Jan 2019 21:06:28
Anelka was amazing (though missed that penalty in Moscow), him and drogba playing as 2 strikers used to be unbelievable.

Also I really liked Kalou and rated him much higher than Malouda.

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Jan 2019 21:20:36
Gullit was a big hit.

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Jan 2019 21:20:13
Casiragi was so unlucky if im honest. I was so gutted with his injury. He was class before he came.

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Jan 2019 22:59:47
Kalou was definitely a hit. Scored some important goals and was always a threat off the bench. Anelka was like Berbatov- lazy as hell but class on the ball and a deadly finisher so definitely a hit. I think Crespo and Casiragi are the ones that got away.

I'd like to add Tore Andre Flo as a hit for the memory banks.

FA Cup, League Cup, Cup Winners etc; and I still remember those two goals he banged in against Barcelona at the Bridge to carry us to a 3-1 victory. What a magical night.

Review Of The Day 23rd January 2019

23 Jan 2019 07:29:02
{Ed's Note - Ed001 has posted a new article entitled, Review Of The Day 23rd January 2019

Believable0 Unbelievable0

23 Jan 2019 03:41:37
I've had a lot of people criticise what I've put on here in the past and even though I've sometimes come across the wrong way it's only because I've got good intentions for our club. I've had the likes of Adam on here saying everyone should shut up and let me run our transfers. Fact is I actually would do a better job and I'm sure everyone else on here could do a better job. We're a winning club but we could be so much better. Our need for a director of football is needed now more than ever. Just think of the money we've spent on transfers last few years which have turned out to be dross. I know every club has poor transfers now and again but we're the worst. Morata, Drinkwater, Bakayoko, Batshuayi, Barkley, Zappacosta, Baba, Hector and Djillibodji. I know a few have had good moments at times I. e Morata and Batshuayi but none have been successful. That's about 200m gone to waste. Don't want to sound like a know it all but I could do a better job. We need someone like Ballack in the DOF role to give us direction again. A big call but getting rid of ego's who think they're better than what they are in Hazard, Willian, Luiz and Alonso would be a good start. Then let's try and bring in players mentally good enough not just relying on talent. Pulisic hasn't convinced me with his talent but he seems mentally strong which I can work with. If Hazard does leave we do need a marquee but I'd like Dybala who is young with a good head on his shoulders. I know it's unlikely but we should aim for him. What we need to do is sign world class players instead of average squad players then let our talented youth be squad options. James could be a great back up to Azpi could even displace him eventually. Christensen should replace Luiz. But I'd like to see us bring in a class CB. Maybe Koulibaly type (unlikely) or a Skriniar but I don't know if Skriniar is good enough on the ball. I don't rate Mount or Abraham personally but I think they couldn't do a worse job than Barkley or Giroud. Ampadu impresses me cause he's only 18 but nails players 😂 and seeing that in this day of age fills me with joy with how footballs changed he's like a breath of fresh air. Sorry for the long post.

Not everyone. Just you mate. Love the way you think transfers buying and selling is so easy in the football world. Maybe you should stick to Football manager and fifa and think that’s the correct way of doing transfers. We’re the worst? Really? United haven’t wasted money have they? What about Liverpool? Spent how much and still won no trophies! What about Arsenal? Let’s just sell the whole team shall we and get players that don’t have an ego, how about just young players as they shouldn’t have egos. oh no, Solanke, Hudson-Odoi springs to mind. That won’t work neither. Players have egos, they all do. It’s about controlling them. But getting rid of hazard, Alonso, Luiz and Willian is mad. Pulisic hasn’t convinced you, oh no I’m sure Chelsea are gutted they haven’t impressed you. He is/ was one of the hottest young players out there, simply out the Dortmund team because he wouldn’t sign a contract, another reason why Sancho got a look in, in the 1st place. Sign world class players but they all cost big money. Don’t think you get that we won’t go out and spend massive sums anymore. We don’t make the money of Liverpool, United, City we don’t have the financial muscle anymore.

Agree13 Disagree0

23 Jan 2019 10:38:54
Whether you like it or not there certain players that are toxic in the dressing room if their personal ambitions are not put on the front burner. I'm sure many targets were overlooked for their baggage they may come with. So it's a reality.
I disagree that any team can truly be the best without out occasionally buying world class players. I don't mean buying for the sake of it but strategically buy world class players for the spine of the team. Worldies don't come cheap so a team desiring to be the best like Chelsea must spend big to remain among the best. Afterall that's what made us the Chelsea we are today. We should be trying to expand our club brand and increase our revenue to be invest when when necessary rather than buying average players and expect a messi from them.

Agree1 Disagree0

23 Jan 2019 13:50:51
Agree with the DOF ballack, we need football brains around the club not just buisness people. It also helps in terms of ballack that he could identify young German talent. I believe that’s where we struggle in terms of transfers as non footballers do not understand what the transfer means to a player and their families. Throwing £150k a week helps but it’s a deeper understanding/ communication which I can only guess is missing from our transfer dealings.

Agree1 Disagree0

23 Jan 2019 14:16:42
Transfers have been hit and miss unfortunately. I think Jose was very hard done by near the end of his tenure.

However, the board have tried to rectify the issue and have signed quality in recent times in Jorginho, Kovacic and Kepa. Pulisic is another terrific player. From the past, Morata, Bakayoko, Kante, Giroud (back up) were all good signings. It is going in the right direction. I won't complain. Of course nobody could forsee Morata and Bakayoko's demise but at the time they were gambles worth taking.

Anyway we seem to be linked to the right players now.

Sorry King Kante but you lost me at ‘I could do a better job of transfers’. Clearly do not understand the precise intricacy of transfers and the hundreds of factors that are evident in negotiations. We have had poor transfers but every club has had such. Have some faith in the club mate.

I hope Ed0333 considers me a wordsmith. I did my best ;)
