Our forwards can't play together, we need fluid dynamic forwards like Sturridge and Moses to outstretch the oppositn defence.

really...if we played some other formation...with the currrent form..we would have conceeded 4 goals..
we almost conceeded 2 in opening 10 mts with this formation..
think if we played 1-3-6??

we have only two striker...if we inculde torres..we will have to drop..hazard, mata, or oscar...and then you will moan again..

Gareth, as musch as I love "hating" Benitez as our manager, there's not exactly much he can do. All of our depth is playing for some other teams on loan.

It's not like Rafa has anyone to choose from, has he? I don't see anyone who's omitted, or not given chances.

We have no depth - period. Kevin de Bruyne, Lukaku, McEachran, Piazon, Kakuta, Essien on loan. Malouda banned from first team. Sturridge, Kalou, Meireles sold or released. Mikel and Moses at AFCoN. Romeu out injured for the remainder of the season.

There's noone to bring on in. I'm not exactly sure why the hell are we shooting ourselves at the foot, but we are doing it for some long time now. We have no game changers on the bench.

United can always turn to Hernandez, Welbeck, Valencia, Kagawa or Ashley Young off of the bench depending on who's starting. City have Dzeko, Ballotelli, Sinclair, Milner, depending on the starting lineup. And we have either Torres or Marin. And neither one offers anything. I can't blame Benitez for this. It just makes no sense.

JG, benitez started the wrong starting 11 & used the wrong subs, bertrand? when marin is ther. lampard offerred slugish football, should of started luiz. oscar likes more time on the ball time to play him with luiz in the centre & play marin outwide. BLUEBOY1

get a grip...dont know..so many marin followers...here...he hasn't even made an appearence..till yet...was almosts ent off in his first debute..didnt add anything against a an FA cup side...what on earth would he do against dyer with swansea...

I think you'll find that he hadnt made an appearance yet due to being injured.

I wasnt having a go at rafa I was merly pointing out that it would of shocked swansea if we had played a different formation and have more options on the bench even youngsters surely feruz would of had more of an impact from the bench than ferriera who even if we had an injury to azpill he still wouldn't of come on.

would of surprised swansea it was plain to see that they had a game plan from 2 weeks ago they knew exactly our team and formation and how to train and practice against it
there centrebacks had only one player to mark.we made it easy for them if we went out with a different formation there two weeks of tactical training would of gone out the window.

and to say I have no clue I find quite insulting as I have my uefa badges and currently work for the ifa as a coach so the person who posted that would you like to clarify you expertise in this field.

dude I got your point...
The best formation to play an away game was 4-2-3-1..
we also have to remeber not to concede any goals...yes we need to score..but we cannot afford to concede...2 man in midfield will protct us from not to concede..since swansea plays a great pass and move game..
we had 4 international world beters in our team..
hazard, mata and oscar..with their preferd position...
with BA upfront as fans always wanted..
I mean this chelsea team whould have beaten any team..the players we bought in were absolute best in their respective clubs and game changers..
But they failed misserably..
And did you looked our bench..?
If I was the manger..I would have never made any sub..
coz,, neitehr bernard, nor marin, nor luiz would have helped us to score 3 goals anyways..
lampard and ramirez were awful...
If you look some previous games...I think Oscar was awful ain al those..

Once Chelsea was drogba..

Now chelsea is Mata..

Anybody else notice a pattern we play decent and win one game then the next we don't win and generally play awful seem to be a trend under the fat waiter, and how much have we missed Vicor Moses !

I thought it was just Mikel who slows our game. I though both Lampard and Ramires were better holding mildfielders... Maybe I was wrong. We needed Mikel partnering Luiz/Ramires with Oscar in d middle.

U guys can go on till 2morrow abt who was poor, the Manager, who didn't do what, etc. Truth is we lack a holding and deep lying midfielder. Lamps shdn't get a new contract, we dnt have width. I've said it before, I'll rather see us playing a 433 with Luiz/Mikel, Ramires and Oscar in midfield, Hazard, Mata and Ba up front. That way, the front 3 won't need to come back too often to either pick d ball or defend bcos of a slow midfield.

we need signings to freshen up a small weak squad we need a powerhouse mid and a skillfull player like willian who will creare and score goals you need to do this asap roman.

First time poster here
Chelsea were absolutely poor slow passing ivanovic terrible and so was lamps rami and oscar. Swansea passed the ball quicker wanted the ball more and deserved to win although two costly errors lost us the tie. One major difference throughout the whole game was not our slow build up play was that Swansea always looked to keep the ball and passed forward and didn't force as for us we passed it back to cech too many times when there was hardly any pressure. Direct football is fine as long as the long balls are not straight and give demba ba no chance. Drogba at his peak wouldn't of been able to do anything about those poor long balls. People will slat rafa and say he should get sacked he should of brought on torres earlier and played two up top but chelsea have not had a plan be for a long time I can't remember the last time chelsea played with two strikers?? so it wasnt suprising that he was reclutant to play them together. Also as much as I am sorry oscar hazzard and mata shouldn't play togetherthey are all execptionally gifted players but all come inside to much and there's no width. Chelsea need some real wingers (remember the days of duff and robben) and feel that oscar should play in a deeper role as he is clearly not a winger. Also hazzard great player but for £32 million he hasn't done that much glimpses of brilliance but he was supposed to beat players with ease but he doesn't take on players enough also he scored 20 goals last season but he hardly shoots. Chelsea will never ever play the barca way no matter how good our attack is if we don't change it from the back we need a cech to stop hoofing the ball all the time. center backs who are comfortable with ball at feet and playing out from the back. fast quick attacking full backs which I think we do have. center midfielders who are comfortable playing one touch football and can play 30 to 40 yard balls and that can actually press and hassle the opposition into mistakes which rami and lamps don't do. As for the attack I have already touched on it. Its only the league cup fingers crossed we can catch up on city and hopefully finish 2nd maybe win the league if we are lucky

As much as I hate to say it, we lost the game because of demba ba's terrible performance, torres shouldn't be blamed every single time.

No the whole team were poor, Demba Ba is the striker and get's the ball the least.

As a neutral, you need a goal so fetch Torres on, his form over months has been poor, his confidence is lowr than a snakes bo--ocks and he sends him on, poor decision.

Ba just couldn't get into the game, but the midfield gave him nothing. mata couldn't pass, oscar didn't get involved enough, lamps slowed everything down too much.

Yet another cup game where Chelsea don't turn up..dont mind not going to Wembley, and fair play Swansea, but the shambles of our club is turning the team into a frustration to watch and a laughing stock....c'mon blues lets sort it out, other cups to win...

I was willing to give benitez time but I could tell after 10 mins that Ramirez, who I love, was a weak link tonite. We haven't played that good since he has taken Luiz out of midfield. Tonite was crying out for him. When he took iva off for luiz into defence was astounding. Any ground benitez has made recently with the chelsea fans has been eroded back to nothing tonite

Luiz for Ramirez was such an obvious switch. Rafa was at his absolute worst tonight.

Thought ramires was better than lampard tbh.

Lampard is nonexistant for the n-th game running. But honestly, nothing was coming our way in this tie. And do not just expect Rafa to get any clue in substitutions. He has not made a single meaningful substitution in his 19 games here. Not once!

Not in his 2nd start he wouldn't have been. Torres had 2 years if great support and never produced from day 1. Get real...

Don't compare 50m to 7m ...... either ways Ba have been impressive since he arrived but our 50m have been part of everything we have lost this season.

Without Luiz in the team we lack someone who can pass the ball quickly and directly from the CB/CDM posistion to the three CAM's and get the strikers feeding. Just frustrating to watch but we must stick by the team we are still in transition.

Have to say that the passing in the first half overall was shocking. In the first 20 mins we could barely string together more than 5 passes. The extremely hopeful punts upfield were woeful, sometimes not even within 10 yards of Ba. Whilst I believe Ba is a quality striker, when playing with him I don't believe we should changed our game to a more direct long ball. End of the first half was better but if we are to go through then the second half needs a major improvement.

I definitely think the volume of matches are catching up with mata. he's never rested and its beginning to show

Sky saying earls court a no go...what now for us ed? Thought you said no stadium developments? {Ed002's Note - Perhaps my time machine was broken when I said that.}

Apparently Abramovich is looking to buy Capco, the current owners of Earls Court. However it is possible that Chelsea move to BPS, as it could prove to be a problem with the Malaysians, as they've yet to find a solution as to what to build there. Both EC and BPS deals would most likely be reliant on a land-swap at the Bridge.
