Just a personal question ed02. How will you be spending your Christmas Day? Will you be dining with the queen at sandingham again this year?

EDS I've been reading that Lazio interest in K Zouma is a great possibility and I was wondering if Chelsea would be so sorry stupid to let our best defensive player leave when to me other then a couple games has outdone our others on defense.

{Ed002's Note - You canot take such an attitude - interest in a player should be seen as a compliment.}

as speculation grows about our next long term manager I was wondering if anyone had any information on the potential playing styles either simeone or guardiola would bring to the bridge. I loved Jose but I was never too fond of his style of play and I was wondering if anyone knew how the others may differ. Also if any of you know whether simeone or pep have a track record of bringing through Young players it would be nice to know.
I appreciate this quite a detailed question but if any of you have an idea it would be greatly appreciated as I am sure I mustn't be the only one who is curious about this.

Giordiola would be slow possession football, then a quick switch and fast attack

Simeone would be fast counter attacks.

In that case I'll take Simeone but he cannot speak any English which is a major handicap.

Considering we have hardly any English players in the team I can't see it being too much of a problem.

I suggest the club don't look solely to those 2 (which they probably don't) . There are a lot of very talented managers in the world, so the choice doesn't have to be narrowed down to the best known ones. Ed002's earlier reply regarding managers was an interesting read. I don't know half of them but Schmidt is one I like as an option. Conte is pretty well known and apparently his contract only runs till after the European Championship this summer. So he could be an interesting option.

I think it's tough to talk about peps style because he's managed two clubs that traditionally dominate their league as well as as head and shoulders above their competitors making the integration of youngsters far easier. With that said he likes to play a system that puts emphasis on ball retention and immediate retrieval after it is lost. Full backs play more like outside midfielders and provide width. The defense presses extremely high resulting in a very high line and the necessity of a sweeper keeper that's very good on the ball.
Simeone manages atletico and his teams are built around defensive solidarity. This may end in some low scoring victories/draws but they almost always let in the least goals in the league. He likes a 442 system with nontraditional wingers such as koke. As another poster said they like to sit deep and when they break they do it at rabid speed. This system works better in Spain due to most teams playing very open but I'm not sure how this would work against teams that try to do the same thing to us. Atletico as a club traditionally buy promising youngsters with a high potential resale value and to his credit he's brought through quite a few of these guys.
Hope this helps.
