I love the fact everyone is against us !!

Last year we had our backs against the walls and we proved the doubters wrong . They only criticise us because we are good !! Noone would bother if we were mediocre.

Moses is one hell of a player btw !!

Cech
Azpi luiz Cahill cole
Ramires lampard
Hazard Oscar mata
Moses

His pace is electric

Jm10

Believable6 Unbelievable3

I agree he would be good. but we arent exactly playing our striker through are we, so what difference would it make if we played paulo ferreira up top.

Agree3 Disagree0

I don't think the paring of Lamps & Ramires will work for us because both will go frwd and leave the back exposed and only Rami will try to Sprint back to defend. We need to be younger and faster in the pivot, what a lovely sight today when Stoke tried to counter and we ran them down fr behind, won't happen with Lamps starting. Also, we have DS, if no Torres.

Thanks Harry, actually analysing our play and looking at the good points instead of just the usual bias BS that we hear from Lineker and Lawrenson. Give him a permanent spot on MOTD, much prefer him to the other biased pundits

How comes when arsenal got a point against stoke (ok, it was at the britania) everybody was saying that a point against stoke is a good result? I thought we played great football in the second half. Oscar looks a steal at the money we paid. Why are all the pundits, media and just about everybody else mugging us off? European and FA cup champions! If thats not enough, we are also top of the prem.
What the f**k do we need to do to get some credit?!!

Luke

Believable6 Unbelievable3

I agree that we aren't being treated fairly by the media, pundits etcetera etcera, but Chelsea are not playing at their best, they can do so much better, only a few seasons ago we were putting 7 past stoke, one of the best defenses in the league. We are weak aren't working at optimum in the first two quarters or the last quarter. But at least we're ticking along nicely at the top, which should last until January at minimum.

Devon.

Agree3 Disagree2

The only thing missing from today's game IMO was better link-up in the final 3rd which, since this was the first start for our fantastic trio, is understandable combined with a so-so effort from ft9. The rest was positive, we bossed the midfied, and dominated possession, actually looked fast on defense and except for an early set play header that went off the crossbar, Stoke never looked threatening.
Been awhile since we had a game like that.

Agree2 Disagree2

22 Sep 2012 21:44:57
How the BBC and MOTD so biased against us? If we are defending and "parking the bus" they complain its unattractive and when we play like we did today, they complain it is one-dimensional and has no end product. We can't win.

i watched the game today, and cause i was bored i just starting reading the a website report and it is SHOCKING. i will just pick out a few quotes:
"Torres is rarely upstaged when it comes to embarrassing moments and he duly added another to his collection"
"Branislav Ivanovic was lucky to avoid a yellow card for a shameful dive"
"Torres, Eden Hazard, Oscar and Juan Mata played like the strangers they were for most of the afternoon"
what utter rubbish. how can they get away with such bias? i thought we were brilliant at times today despite the narrow victory and if we scored in the first 30mins with our possession, i reckon we would have thrashed stoke. everyone played well, especially mikel (surprisingly) thoughts ed/guys?

Believable6 Unbelievable4

I saw one by the telegraph what was stupid. they slag off our front 4 yet they summed it up them selves in the 2nd paragraph. by saying its the 1st time theyve started together. but yet they try convincing the readers they were terrible. but in real life we saw some great passes between them. thy have all settled in quick wont be long till they are ripping teams apart. Moses was amazing
Players played in their correct position
Mata back to his best
Oscar Amazing
Hazard Still Solid

But

Torres crap

Jm10

Believable11 Unbelievable8

Mark my words, Torres will not ever get back in form. We could probably score more goals without him on the pitch, he just get in the way and loses the ball everytime. We so need a world class striker in January.

I thought we played very well, especially in the first 30 minutes.Ramires was fabulous. The front four linked up very well. The football was a bit narrow that allowed Stoke to fight tooth and nail for the ball.It was a very hard fought game.
The balls nearly fell for the players just last minute interceptions.Torres missed a good chance when he missed the ball after having brought it down nicely.Mata also missed two good opportunities one when he was fed by Torres and the other by Oscar.
So many times the ball nearly fell for our players. The link up p[lay was some times fabulous between the front four.
The defense was good.Mikel also played well in the system.
Mind we we played a side that kicked and fought for every ball and we kept possession very well.
Cole was brilliant.Everybody played well,on another day we could have won
by a larger margin.
The difference in play with Ramires in the middle was clear for all to see.
Who says Hazard ,Mata,Oscar and Torres cannot play at the same time,They were brilliant, this shows they can hold there own in against a very physical side.
Mosses looked good when he came on.
Overall very good performance.
If we keep this up we will definitely score a lot of goals.
Even with a draw I would have been happy because of the way we played.
But the win was priceless.

overall it was still a decent performance against physically strong stoke city......
oscar, mata, hazard and torres all combining well...
RDM did very well with the team selection this time....
playing ramires in pivot was the best decision by RDM...
again it was last years two top players for us j.mata and ramires were the top two players for us in this game....
the substitute victor moses also had decent game.....
infact mikel also had decent game ...
while f. torres had quite game missing very good goal scoring chance but nevermind he will get more chances n will score more for us....
i saw everyone giving their 100% apart from ivanovic who at times was very casual....
i guess RDM should try new signing cesar azplicuetta in capital cup in mid week....
should also give chance to romeu, piazon, bertnand(at left back rather than on left wing)

As long as A. Cole is fit he is still our best LB, so Bertrand for domestic cups and if he needs a rest.

Can someone who saw the game give some player ratings?

Jim132

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Cech 6, cole 8, ivan 5, luiz 7, cahill 7, ramires 8, mikel 5, oscar 8, mata 7, hazard 6, torres 6.

Agree2 Disagree4

Cech - 6 - didn't have to do much.
Ivan - 6 - out of position but done ok done the right.
Cahill - 8 - solid at the back.
Luiz - 9 - intercepted the ball and felt with crouch all game.
Cole - 8 - got forward and helpe at but also very solid at getting back and defending.
Ramires - 7 - good game kept possession and broke play up.
Mikel - 6 - Done ok but rami done most of the work.
Hazard - 6 - very quite game but done ok.
Mata - 8 - played very good link up play and assisted Ashley cole.
Oscar - 8 - he carried on from where he left off in the juve game and was brilliant keepin the ball and bringing other players into the game.
Torres - 6 - done ok but nothing special. Good through balls to mata and mikel but other than that done nothing.

Subs
Moses - 7 - very good at keeping the ball and running at their lb. could of put rami through but decided to shoot.
Lampard - 6 - not enough time to have much of an impact but kept possession well.
Terry - 6 - Cant even remember if he touched the ball.

Sorry it was just a quick ratings so couldn't go to much into detail.

He still lost possession a few times at the wrong times. And still holds on for too long.

^^^^^ You can say the same thing about Hazard (today)!! Mikel played well, cut out alot, his passing is more positive. He was dreadful the other night against Juve, but as I said, be fair.

Hazard loses possessiobn at the other end of the pitch from our goal, mikel loses it constantly deep into our own half.

Torres didn't score so what. How many did drogba score last season? Unbelievable that when Chelsea aren't winning it's down to torres. Some fans are perfetic. He's had enough pressure through the media give him a break. If he scores in the next league game it'll be 3 goals in 6 which is quite a good return. At the end of the day mata hazard Oscar never scored either. Quite funny the commentator saying cole hasn't score for two seasons then wallah. Haha. BLUEBOY1

Lack of width, lack of direction, lack of pace, lack of passion one of the worst 45 minute performances I've seen in a long time. Stoke may have held gunners city etc, but at least they created chances. Getting outplayed by Stoke? Really? We're playing too slow for the premier league. This might work in Europe but not here. Sorry RDM not good enough!!

Believable4 Unbelievable4

Worse performance, outplayed! Your an person. U obviously didn't see the Athletico match or any since before today. Our final 3rd play is not good and neither is our finishing but its the fewest times Chech has touch the ball in a half and we're dominating possession and the midfield. Stoke is sitting back like we did against Barca last year.

Agree3 Disagree3

22 Sep 2012 15:37:58
Awful first half performance!! No attempts on goal!! We look like an away side. {Ed018's Note - It hasnt been awful. They just need to start taking shots}

Believable3 Unbelievable4

We haven't been in any positions to take any shots. Far too narrow. We're not stretching them. Everything's down the middle if we were to pull the trigger there's a wall of red & White in the way. Have u been watching the se game? {Ed018's Note - Yea I'm watching the match and there has been chances to shoot. Oscar had a great chance early but elected to try and slot Torres through. Seriously why would you even bother to ask if I'm watching the match}

Agree0 Disagree5

Because one half chance ( not even that ) isn't good enough by a team like Chelsea. Especially at home. I appreciate your probably trying to stay positive {Ed018's Note - I am. Though I am a touch disappointed}

loving todays line up (apart from mikel) i wouldnt mind lampard even being there with rami alongside him but not mikel pivot has to be romeu and rami or rami and lamps

curt

Believable3 Unbelievable6

Lamps doesn't need to start, can't have 2 frwd players in pivot and Lamps defense is lacking. U Lamps lover u.

Agree2 Disagree3

The pivot does not have to be defensive players. shouldnt need them at home! you can play a box to box and a playmaker. BLUEBOY1

Agree3 Disagree1

Blueboy1, You think just because you are playing in your home stadium, you can leave your back four completely exposed against a solid PL side? At least 1 of the 2 in front of the back 4 needs to sit and be defensive minded.
Tim

U dont let you wing backs attack so forward. alot of teams do it in italy & germany to full effect

22 Sep 2012 14:44:06
Do not adjust your sets, both Terry & Lampard start on the bench. Hazard - Oscar - Mata ride together from the start. Should be fun.

Chelsea starting lineup (4-2-3-1): Petr Cech (c); Ashley Cole, Gary Cahill, David Luiz, Branislav Ivanovic; John Obi Mikel, Ramires; Eden Hazard, Oscar, Juan Mata; Fernando Torres

Substitutes from: Ross Turnbull, Cesar Azpilicueta, John Terry, Ryan Bertrand, Oriol Romeu, Frank Lampard, Victor Moses

Stoke City starting lineup (4-5-1): Asmir Begovic; Marc Wilson, Ryan Shawcross, Robert Huth, Geoff Cameron; Michael Kightly, Charlie Adam, Steven N'Zonzi, Glenn Whelan, Jonathan Walters; Peter Crouch

Substitutes from: Kenwyne Jones, Michael Owen, Dean Whitehead, Matthew Upson, Matthew Etherington, Thomas Sørensen, Ryan Shotton

Now you can't complain if Torres gets no service if he doesnt score he has got to go....... If we do not get 3 points and 3 goals I will not be happy

BILLY

Believable5 Unbelievable0

Right Billy. Although tbf I want to see us dominate possession and limit Stoke's chances even if we win 1-0 like Barca often does against good defensive teams. Link-up in the final 3rd might take a few games as unfortunately this is the first game for this line-up. Up Blues.

I was very surprised to see Lampard starting on Wednesday. It is just not a healthy situation at the moment and I am not sure what is going on. RDM could gradually phase Lampard out by playing him on the premiership or the CL. But both? This is just some kind of personal agreement between Lampard and RDM. Very poor. I was never keen on RDM anyway as I think he is there to please the old guard. Proitos.

i think were simply missin 2 defensive players and a striker to complete what would be a brilliant side an im pickin players who we will need to replace our players leaving/retiring like JT an Lamps...id sell mikel, luiz(defending is shocking so cash in) and and with JT close to the end id buy hummels/subotic...cahill straight in for luiz and fernando from porto to replace mikel...may cost a bit but money from luiz would cover one..also let torres go,he tries very hard and all but just hasnt the finishing touch anymore, swap and cash for falcao..so my team would be

cech
cesar... cahill ... subotic/hummels... cole
ramires...fernando
oscar....hazard...mata
falcao

BARCLAYS PREMIER LEAGUE

Venue: Stamford Bridge Date: 15:00, Saturday 22 September

Team News:
Chelsea's new superstar Oscar is expected to be fit after his ankle injury against Juventus on Wednesday. Both Daniel Sturridge and Marko Marin will both miss out again through similar

Although I think it's a shame it has taken some Chelsea fans this long to realise how special this boy is. I mean 19 goals and 20 assists in 70 matches kind of speaks for itself for a then 20 year old.
MATCH FACTS

Head-to-head
Stoke have not won at Stamford Bridge in the league since a 1-0 victory on 27 April 1974.
Chelsea are unbeaten in their eight Premier League games against Stoke (W6, D2), and have scored 17 goals to Stoke's three.
Chelsea
The Blues have not recorded back-to-back goalless draws in Premier League matches since September 2004, when they were held by Aston Villa and then Tottenham.
The Blues have won five of their last six Premier League games at Stamford Bridge.
This one I'm going to keep posting till it happens...

John Terry has scored 49 goals for Chelsea in all competitions and is one off 50.

My Prediction:
Chelsea have been in a spot of bother recently, failing to win in their last 3 matches, and will have to face a strong Stoke who drew 1-1 with Manchester City last week. In my opinion Chelsea have to stop playing Mikel and Lampard together in order to start winning. Sadly as a Chelsea fan I think this will end in yet another draw for Stoke.

Chelsea 1-1 Stoke {Ed061's Note -

Well i still can not see us playing as a team.....
most of the times it is individual talents.....
the talent of hazard, oscar won/draw games for us...
we have enough options going upfront.....
but we are still lacking in pivot roles.....
RDM is prefering to play lampard and mikel in pivot role.....
we all know mikel d guilty person for juventus second goal.....
its been 6 matches in dis season when this pair of lampard and mikel played together and not a single game when they dominated the holding midfield....
lampard is good in going forward but do we require that when we have attacking midfielders such as hazard, oscar, mata ....
against juventus lot of times saw lampard out of holding midfielders position.....
many times lampard was playing way forward and even hazard and oscar were required to collect ball from our defence.....
it seems RDM is in love with mikel and do not have guts to drop lampard on bench so will keep playing lampard and mikel untill he looses his job for it........
