What are Chelsea's plans for Ruben Loftus Cheek next season?

{Ed002's Note - Far too early to say - loan, squad player, who knows. A decision will be made in the summer.}

Love Jose being manager but I just wish sometimes we would be a little more adventurous when picking team/formation. In his last spell we played a lot 4-3-3, the game then moved on over the years to 4-2-3-1 but I'm liking the formation 3-5-2 which seems to be the formation used by most teams now. I think using that formation could give us a better balance defensively and attacking. We certainly have the players for this style of play. Courtois, Cahill, terry, ivanovic, luis, azpilicueta, matic,
Fabregas, willian, hazard and costa. What I'm saying is I think we just look a little stale with no intensity to our play so would like us to try something new.

Can't agree with you more! Our play is impotent, everything relies on individual quality! That's why others are singing boring boring Chelsea.
I've watched game again as well 3-4 Chelsea previous games.First about our defence Terry&Cahill were so poor that Ivanovic had to play 3rd centre back to cover them as well as Azpillicueta from time to time.Luis is not use to it so our defence was falling apart today. Midfield Matic&Fabregas are suffering from fatigue and in this moment both of them are not in their best. From 3 AMs Eden Hazard was the most consistent. Willian was tragically poor, Oscar looks like he already left Chelsea and Cuadrado was totally lost(he is new player perhaps he needs time to accommodate but I have to admit I am very sceptical about him).Attack Costa was doing well considering that he is completely cut off from the rest of the team.Remy absolutely deserves to play much more.
Jose Mourinho change the f.g system, every other coach knows how you are going to play.This is the main reason why we have so many difficulties lately.!

{Ed002's Note - Chelsea are top of the league by some distance - perhaps he knows what he is doing?}

22 Mar 2015 23:44:22
We are 6 points clear lads and that's the main thing nobody will remember the games we played good ir bad all its matters at the end is results. O other point I believe that lack of rotation in early stages of the season are catching up with us

Ed Jose is a great manager, I'm not saying he doesn't know what he's doing, but we seem to make everything hard for ourselves and the football is not what you would expect from a team of top quality internationals. Yes we are winning but my post was just a thought on a possible formation change to get us playing better football.

23 Mar 2015 01:10:17
nmill, Cuadrado didn't appear today unless you're referencing other games. That said, I would rather keep the current system but give players more attacking freedom than change the system to one that doesn't suit our squad as well.

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Mar 2015 01:12:23
You need to have 3 dynamic centre backs to play that system. Terry and Cahill aren't and we'd get exposed. I'm sure if Zouma played over Cahill we'd be a lot more solid.

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Mar 2015 03:40:57
a 352 formation would be solid but instead of putting 5 defenders at the back we should stick with zouma terry and cahill/ivanovic as the back 3 with willian/cuadrado as rwb and azpi/luis as lwb - make it more attacking. then obviously matic and fabregas at the two cm positions and hazard just ahead of them and behind the two strikers of costa and remy. that is in my opinion the best chelsea lineup so far!

Agree0 Disagree1

23 Mar 2015 07:54:34
I really had no intention to disrespect anyone. What I am afraid is that we might lose the title simply because Mourinho is so stubborn sometimes, also I have a feeling(honestly I hope that I am wrong) that something is wrong when it comes to atmosphere in our squad(something like that already happened to Mourinho when he was coaching Real Madrid).
About formation I would love us to play 343(3421)or 352(3412) but with given squad the ideal formation would be 442(4222).
One more thing Hull City played dominant with long passing skipping our midfield that way and making all the pressure on our CDs. Also they played wide due to formation they play which was big problem for us since our winger midfielders didn't help our defence much.

Agree0 Disagree1

23 Mar 2015 20:33:47
I don't think we need to change our formation. I think our mentality, players form and tiredness have more to do with our recent performances than the formation we play. All you have to do is look at the start of our season to see that the formation isn't the issue.
We've become more defensive minded since we lost to Spuds. Oscar has dropped off dramatically, Fab has dropped off, Costa had a barrren spell and was out for a bit, Matic has dropped off since his red card, and Cahill isn't anywhere near the player he was last season. Perhaps the reason for their drop in form is the change in mentality or tiredness, but if all of them were at their peak like they were at start of the season we wouldn't be talking about our formation.
Also I don't see how changing our formation would help with either tiredness and lack of form, which imo is the cause of our recent slump performance wise.

Also not sure how you can say Willian wasn't helping out our defence. Pretty sure I saw him at RB more than I saw Iva there. (Slight exaggeration, but still) If there's one thing you can't fault Willian for is his tracking back. yes he was partly responsible for one of the goals but he was at least there to try and help out

We got away with it today. We can't keep on giving away leads and expect to be champions. Some comedy defending again, especially in the first half.

Can't agree more somehow us and united swapped the roles now. We are playing terrible and getting results while they are flying. And how good is Mata lads?

22 Mar 2015 18:35:56
Can't belive we are missing mikel

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed018's Note - we aren't. We are missing an all around dynamic center mid. A Pogba or a Koke. I know it's wishful thinking but that's what we need}

22 Mar 2015 18:51:30
Tbh, I think RLC, Swift, Baker and Chalobah all deserve a chance for us right now!

Agree3 Disagree1

22 Mar 2015 18:52:06
But we don't have them. Let's be honest if mikel was fit he'll give more stability, rami poor

Agree4 Disagree0

22 Mar 2015 19:47:27
i agree actually he would bring stability to the midfield again & he can win a header, lately we've been losing every first & second ball, Fair play to remy for saving our backsides when he's been on the bench most of the season

22 Mar 2015 21:34:32
Aggree with you situation I don't really understand how drogba is grtting ahead of remy

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed018's Note - he didn't today so what's the complaint?}

22 Mar 2015 21:56:41
I mean in general. How many games remy could have played and proved himself?

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed018's Note - some for sure but what's it matter now? He scored today and will probably get a chance before Drogba in the future. Let's be realistic here Drogba is so far past it at this point he really has no buisness playing for Chelsea}

22 Mar 2015 15:13:51
Luis starts in place of Azpi and Ramires in place of Oscar.

Believable1 Unbelievable2

{Ed018's Note - would've liked to seen Zouma starting. Hopefully RLC can get some minutes at the end}

22 Mar 2015 15:25:09
Does Zouma not impress Mourinho in training or something because it makes no sense what so ever starting Cahill ahead of him on current form.

Agree3 Disagree0

22 Mar 2015 15:25:14
Agree ed. I'd like to see a back four of Luis, Terry, Zouma and Azpi at least once. Hopefully we go out and dominate and score a few in the first half, otherwise I don't see RLC getting minutes.

Agree1 Disagree0

22 Mar 2015 16:06:08
Don't think we'll be seeing RLC until next season, I just pray we win today. We really need a comfortable win for once

Yet again goals conceded from Ivanovic, willian and chills side for about the 20th time this season.

Agree0 Disagree2

{Ed018's Note - that defense looks awful}

22 Mar 2015 16:56:16
We are awful end of hull out playkng us just like southampton like psg like burnley can't remember the last game we dominated agame were shocking

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed018's Note - like pretty much every team has since New Years Day}

22 Mar 2015 17:37:11
First goal Willian and Ivanovic made mistake but Luis was late and Terry&Cahill were nowhere.
Second goal was Courtois all by himself.

Good day Ed, can you please give us a summary of the club's plan for the summer and where interest is like you gave on the Arsenal and Liverpool page? I'm sure it will put a lot of unnecessary questions to rest for the time being. Thanks.

{Ed002's Note - Read the posts.}

22 Mar 2015 04:54:21
Hey Ed002, I was just wondering if you could clear something up for me.

For example, say Chelsea wanted to buy Koke, and the fee was 30 million (just an example), and he had 4 years left on his contract, after we pay his fee, would we also have to pay off his remaining years on his contract to the player or team were buying him from? Or does the contract simply get scrapped and we give him a new contract?

Hope that's clear enough

Cheers!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - The contract is terminated when the transfer is processed. There is no cost to the buying club related to that. His contract with Atletico would end and his contract with Chelsea would begin. So he wouldn't lose out on wages at all.}

22 Mar 2015 08:51:15
Thankyou!

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - It might be an apt time to explain again about the cost of transfers (excluding wages). What is paid by the buying club would typically include:
(a) Transfer fee - the big number.
(b) Any levy applied by the local FA – 5% for the EPL.
(c) Tax due on the transfer fee – typically this will be VAT (at varying rates across Europe) some or all of which should be reclaimable.
(d) Agent fees – this may be to one or more agents (as an example, Liverpool have spent £25M plus VAT on agent fees over the past three years leading to this window).
(e) Tax due on the agent fees – typically this is VAT at the local rate where the agent bills from – it is not reclaimable.
(f) Intermediary fees – this may be to one or more sponging leeches (what do you mean you have a super agent?) .
(g) Tax due on the Intermediary fees – typically this is VAT at the local rate where the Intermediary bills from – it is not reclaimable.
(h) Signing on fee to the player (possibly including non-reclaimable VAT if the player is VAT registered).
(i) Legal fees.
(j) VAT on legal fees which is reclaimable.
(k) Moving/relocation costs for the player.
(l) VAT on moving/relocation costs which is reclaimable.
(m) Paying up insurance costs to the selling club (sometimes waived).

What is paid by the selling club would typically include:
(a) If the player is under 24, a Solidarity contribution paid to his previous clubs responsible for his training - this is 5% of the transfer fee received.
(b) Any monies owed to the player if he did not request a transfer – again this is 5% of the transfer fee received.
(c) Any monies owed to the player in terms of his contract (typically outstanding owed wages (not future wages) and bonuses).

Good info Ed, no wonder smaller clubs struggle to sign semi decent players.
