They won't pay £40m for Seri to sit on the bench but why'll pay £30-35m for Drinkwater to sit on the bench? I'm not saying Chelsea will go for Seri but I doubt £5m will stop the club going for a player if they think he's worth that much.

They signed him to play along side Van Dijk. After Christensens performance against Spurs I'd rather us not sign him and play him with Luiz and Azpi at the back and spend the money elsewhere.

In completely honesty I don't think we need him this year but imo it's best to find a replacement for Cahill/ luiz as they are getting on, van dijk and Christensen possible future of club?

We can buy someone next year then. Maybe we'll buy Ake back 😂 Or maybe Marquinhos or Varane will finally leave their respective clubs. A lot can happen in a year, and I'm happy and confident with our current set that they'll do well this year.

Drinkwater, Ox and a LWB (either top class like Rose or Sandro or cover for Alonso) will do nicely for me. Perhaps a striker to compete with Michy for the backup role as well.

Matt Martin, I guess u will say Belotti coming in will be game time assurances for him which might relegate Pedro or/ and Willian to the bench due to formation change (need to play 2 strikers) blah blah .
But there are lots of games and different competitions this season to be played. So 'good' options will be needed if we are to compete strongly on many fronts. The more players we have the better for us. Batshuayi isn't good enough yet, Morata isn't that proven yet in the EPL. So I think a strong partner or backup will be better. If we will lift the EPL again this season We will need a stronger striker to Batshuayi to partner or backup Morata.
I like to look at my oponents. ManU has Lukaku, Rashford and may be Martial but they are still looking to Ibrahimovic.
See how strong R/ Madrid, Juventus etc. are. And u think Morata and Batshuayi will cut it against them, hmm.
The more depth we have, the better for us.

Michy isn't a bad striker, It's unfair to judge him on a few games. And the games he's played in he's been unfortunate because the whole team played below par (Arsenal in community shield and Burnley at home last week)
Michy has a lot to learn but I feel he'll come good eventually and I'd prefer that be with us. We've let too many promising youngsters leave only to regret it in a season or two.

My brother, if we want to win the league again and do very well in the Champions league, I think Morata and Batshuayi is a big risk to take for a big team like Chelsea (that wants to do well) to take.

That's why I've been banging on about Vardy all day, he isn't a superstar signing but he'd offer us something completely different and he'll chase down everything played behind a defense, and in Europe that could be a great weapon to have.

And also we need other positions to fill spaces rather than replace one of few positions we have cover for. As you were.

If the rumours are true about Vardy I would have him all day. He's rapid, works hard and will stretch defences in Europe. I'm sure that with better players around him he will thrive. He'd be a better option than Michy off the bench IMO.

Totally agree LocoBakayoko. Vardy would give us something different and deadly on counter attacks and he'll chase after every ball played behind the backline. We currently don't have that kind of striker. I'd be more than happy if we signed Vardy.

Transfer rumours are now starting to ramp up with only a week to go until the deadline.
Belotti, Vardy, Aubameyang, Drinkwater, Marchisio are just some of the names we're supposedly looking at.
In the players mentioned above, Drinkwater, Marchisio and Vardy (although not everyones cup of tea) I'd like to see.
Vardy while I doubt it'll happen and he's already 30, in the Champions League I believe he'd be a great option for us and something different. He's got that pace for us to play balls in behind and for him to chase after when we're under pressure defensively. We all know against real, Barcelona etc we'll struggle for possession (and I don't mean that negatively) .
We don't currently have a different option to get out when we're under pressure and I feel someone like Vardy could offer us something different, if only for a season or two.

Marchiso for small fee as think is in his 30's? Be a lot like cesc, great on ball but would get overrun in midfield, rumours of vardy are interesting as he runs in behind and stretches teams and works his arse off, personally if like bit more class as in auba or belotti but begged can't be choosers.

Marchiso is a very good player but 31 and with Juventus wanting silly money and with little resale value we should be able to spend our money better than that. Torino wanting £92m for Bellotti is way too much but we are now in a 'take a chance' period as we need someone else upfront urgently. Personally, I would pay less for Vardy who is Premiership ready.

Resale value being mentioned again.! When did we turn into Arsenal? Or a Fifa / football manager team? Who cares what they cost? Not my money. Nor is it yours? Don't get the big worry over fees etc.
We can't keep going for youngsters. We need some experience to help us along too!

They run a business CFCAdam so TRY thinking it is your money and trust me you would not waste it. They make mistakes but overall value for money is what they look for hence our lucrative but often frustrating loan scheme.

Why do I have to TRY and think it's my money? It never will be so why do I need too? I'm not in charge of the finances! as ed002 has previously said fans worry too much about the money side of things and it's true. The club won't pay over the odds for a player. Been burnt by that before. But they will pay whatever they think the player is worth. Who cares if it's £5m, £25m, £50m or £150m. I don't. the only people that go on about net spend and account books etc is Arsenal. F**k that. It's football, I love football and will always pay attention to be playing side. Not the financial side of things.

Miss D: I understand what you say but we need a striker double quick and as outlined by others he offers something we lack. Moving back to Marchiso and his role, not so pressing. Re: Matic. Many wanted him out as we had two poor almost disinterested seasons from him. We get £40m and we certainly are not complaining and does anyone really think he will improve! Give the fans time and they will moan as we did.
