A point playing city away is something I would of taken from the start but the way we set up is embarrassing. We have top quality players who are not aloud to play there game which for me is so frustrating to see. Even when City went to ten men they bossed possession. Mourinhos excuse last season for our defensive attitude was he never had the right players to play any other way against the top teams. I would like to see us use our qualities and stop worring about the other team. I think where good enough to go toe to toe with any team in our league. Don't get me wrong I love mourinho and he's certainly the man for the job but the negative football from a quality squad like ours is embarrassing. I know people may not agree but our two best players our non existent in matches like today, they might as well not be playing because there being told to work so hard in our half of the field.

Just like to add, when City go down to ten men why does drogba come on instead of remy with the ability to run at city with his pace.

Agree0 Disagree0

And who are our two best players?

Agree0 Disagree0

In my eyes, hazard and fabregas are our two best forward thinking players.

Agree0 Disagree0

TBH last season we didn't have the players to play pretty attacking football. JM tried it and we ended up losing to Stoke and Sunderland.
This season we've seen that he's changed it up and we have been playing great football. But there will be times where we switch back to playing more 'negative' counter attacking football. And for me I don't mind as long as we get results.
City tried to play great attacking football against Bayern and what was the score? Same with Arsenal against Dortmuund.
I'd much rather get a draw or sneak a win, playing boring negative football in 5-6 games a season, and end up winning the PL and CL than playing attacking beautiful football and losing out by 2-3 points come the end of the season.
Also our poor passing meant we lost possession a lot today. If it had been better, we probably would have won and even played exciting, if not negative, football.

Agree. Parking the bus is a cowardly approach. Especially when your squad costs over 200 million pounds

Agree0 Disagree0

He set the team up not to lose, I'm happy with a point! City started the game quickly & put us under pressure for a while but it was also nice to see how well we dealt with that quite easily our shape was brilliant! We should of gone for the kill after the schurrle goal that's where we should of taken control & get on top but decided to let city have the ball & ultimately came back to bite us! Gutted frank scored against us not a nice feeling when that went in but fairplay to the bloke

Different point now.
Just got to say, Mangala was a BEAST! That central defense pairing they've got there can be very very good. So physical, they can bully almost anyone. Makes me wish we had bought a fantastic cb during the summer.

Excellent result. Spurs, man u, Liverpool Everton all lost. Man city away is hardest match of season, if we had played the same as we had previously then we would have lost. After a few matches of the season we have already played city and Everton away and got 4 points. Jose sets the team up based on opposition, and getting a point and nearly three away at city is fantastic. Well done everybody

Believable0 Unbelievable0

What are you on about Sid, did you watch the match and fyi last year we had a worst team and city was better and we went there and took 3 points. I'll take the point but no need to invent a narrative, that's what the back pages are for.

Agree0 Disagree0

Watched same match as you. Tactics were great. If we had opened up we would have lost.

forget the result and lamps scoring the biggest issue is mourinho love affair with drogba has to stop!

I love jose but for god sake just had costa playing then u bring on a similar player who legs are gone! how about injecting some pace up top and go for it and remy would of done just that.

not fussed about the result as would of took a draw in first place but come on jose.

Just had to happen that Frank would score, though clearly bad defending by Schurrle and others (no-one picking FL up, but that's hardly new!). We were too negative, should still have tried to stretch them after we went a goal up, and think that Remy would have been a better bet in this respect. legend DD's age showing I fear. They outmuscled us, we hardly deserrved to nick, but ultimately we could have and should have. We should also not have let Frank go to a club owned by bitter rivals and should have been able to give him a proper send-off at the Bridge. Great that our fans at the Etihad did so despite disappointment.

Any truth in the rumour that Jose wants Frank back? That goal just had to happen of course.

Why oh why, do we attemp to protect a one goal lead. Absolutely shocking. No intent for the win.

Not hating on mourinho but, imagine if we got Giourdiola instead.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Dude, come on, don't exhibit person like behaviour. Don't okay. Just dont.

Haha get real pal! Going slate Mourinho somewhere else. Bringing Mikel and Drogba on was wrong he should have brought Remy on

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm not mad at Mourinho, except for bringing Drogba on. I don't see what he could bring. But whatever, a point ain't bad.

Agree0 Disagree0

We hardly deserved a point to be honest we got very lucky. Showed no intent to go forward what so ever and they could easily have had two penalties, costa's challenge and Ivanovic clipping Toure. I don't understand Mourinho's tactics, does he not believe that his players are good enough to go head to head with Man City? I know it is an away match but having the first shot on target in the 70th minute does not suggest he went their to win. I also agree with Remy coming on instead of Drogba. made no sense what so ever.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think playing negatively could have won us the game. It was our poor passing that meant we only had our first shot in the 70th minute. Everytime we seemed to have an opportunity to counter, we'd misplace a simple pass.
Imagine if we'd done that with a gun-ho attitude. We'd have been slaughtered.

Agree0 Disagree0

Really pep gioudiola really who's he's managed barca b. Munich both sides I think I could pick teams for he's proved f $$###@ nothing wish people we'd get him out there heads mourn ho done everything with money and without best manager in world chelsea have him be thankful

Agree0 Disagree0

Mourinho sets his team up like a coward. We're not a small club. We don't need to park the bus. If you want that don't spend so much on attacking talent.

Did you watch hazard. He was livid, and he'll leave soon

Agree0 Disagree0

Hazard's livid that we played negative football 1/6 matches this season? Obviously he must have also hated the other 5 matches too.

So I remember coming on here saying how pissed I was with lamps signing for city, and evryone said they weren't bothered and it meant nothing.

Clears throat, how about now? :) Fair result in the end can't say we deserves more than that.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Indeed we didn't deserve more than a point. The accuracy in our passing was not good today and we barely created any chances. Shame Costa didn't score that left footed shot that went onto the post.
I WANT ME SOME POGBA! ;-)

Poor from Schurrle, that's twice in 2 games that he's not tracked his marker and we've conceded because of it. Also as much of a Legend Drogba is, putting him on for Costa was beyond baffling. His performance in midweek showed his finishing isn't up to scratch atm. Remyy should have come on if someone was going to replace Costa.

City go down to ten men yet we were the team being pressed! Naive negative football today. As for mikel and drogba! Blame schurrle all everyone wants, but we should of never been in that position for him to be defending that deep with them only having 10 men.

Agree0 Disagree0

True but just because we shouldn't be in that position doesn't make him any less liable. I think playing negatively was the best way to get a result. And we would have won if not for the lapse by Schurrle.
With the way City had started the match, I think if we tried to go toe to toe, all out attack, we might have got battered.
I don't think bringing on Mikel was a bad idea. City still had 11 men. Ramires isn't that great at defending imo and it allowed Fabregas to move further up the pitch. Which helped with our counter attacking as Willian was at fault for most of them breaking down.
When they were down to 10 we should have pressed our advantage, perhaps playing negatively for the first 60-70mins meant the players weren't willing to push on. But a draw is a decent result.

Shame Filipe didn't get a start on the left today. I thought he could've helped our offensive play while not compromising the defense.
Just 20 minutes in so far, but our midfield doesn't seem able to keep the ball and dictate the play. Hope that'll change soon

Believable0 Unbelievable0

We've been slack in our passing and it's really let us down especially on the counter. And whilst everyone's been a bit off, Willian to me has been the worst. Maybe putting him out on the right and moving Fab to the no10 would help.

I don't understand why Chelsea have gone back to their old ways and are playing at such a slow tempo. We showed last season we struggle to break teams down when we do this and it is proving the case today, not one shot in the first half. We have had several opportunities to counter attack but for some reason every time we slow the play down, attempt to keep it and give it away. Seems like our only hope is City get someone sent off.

Agree0 Disagree0

Hoping the half time talk has some effect. Let's keep the faith, for all our boring play we came closest to scoring on that corner with costa!
