I blame Tottenham and Daniel Levy over all this, if they had let us have Modric we wouldnt be in this situation now.

Just because you want a player don't mean you will get them!
Getting modric would not soulve the problem you have Chelsea need to change 4 or 5 players and the high line Chelsea play is not helping them in my eyes.

If you asked Levy nicely he might sell him to you. I know this would be beyond Chavski though.

I think it's tough to expect the team to find a suitable rightback for the present as well as the future. I personally believe that full back is the most difficult position in AVBs system. They must provide width in attack as well as cover defensively. We have in my opinion (although he struggled Sunday) the best full back in the world in Ashley Cole. At the time being there isn't a single player capable of doing what he does. Ivanovic doesn't really compare however ivanovic is more than serviceable. His positioning is magnificent. He's proven he can aid the attack on some level. He's also a nice contributor for set pieces. People that believe you can just plug in Van Der Wiel right now might be a touch ahead of themselves. While i think he is close to ashley cole offensively, defense is a different story. He will become top class however if they bring him in I hope people won't expect the world of him.

Maybe someone like glen johnson lol

It's a good thing he scored because his defense was so poor that malouda played his best game this season. That's telling.

Hi Ed's, great work on the site.

I saw an article in Abola (stating the Sun as the source) saying that Chelsea have a 50% stake in Elias and VanWolfzwinkle (sp) at Sporting, I can't seem to find anything to substantiate this. Do you have any info?

Hey ed, what is this rumour going around that Torres and merelis nearly got on the Liverpool bus I've a friend who works for a national paper in the sports section and she says the story is going to print in tomorrows paper have any of the eds or fans heard anything about this and how the hell did the two ejits make that balls up thanks ed,tommy {Ed002's Note - Let's assume it was a joke.}

I'm going to the game v Liverpool on the 29th this should be the team:

Cech

Ivanovic. Alex. Terry. Cole

Mceacharn. Romeu. Meirles

Sturridge. Torres. Mata

I want us to treat the carling cup seriously this year as I think the prem is beyond us. This team has enough big game players mixed with an experimental midfield that can do a good and I've chosen a strong defence so it can gel for the rest of the season
Lets get some revenge!

That should be our starting 11 every game.

I will say short of replacing sturridge potentially, that team will get more out of Torres than any other team we throw out there.

Chelsea need a shake up lik that, i wud play bertrand at rb aswell!

The problems with chelsea at the moment are as I see them , playing a too high line at the back and not enough pressing of the ball from all over the pitch. We need to play romeu and mccheran holding until essien comes back (if he does). We're crying out for players with more energy. Terry has never been quick but playing this high line exposes him even more, it's not the defence that's the problem it's the lack of closing down all all over the pitch that leaves the back four in the lerch. My starting 11 as follows.
Cech
Ivan , luiz , Terry , Cole

Romeu Josh mc or meriles
rameries Mata Sturridge
Nando.

Buy hazard and another to play wide in Jan(as I don't think sturridge is top top quality winger)And with lamps on bench ( but also starting sometimes) and essien to come back it will give us options which we are severly lacking at the moment.

I have backed AVB since he joined, but I am now starting to worry. The team he has inherited is passed it, we should have been bringing in players over the last 4-5 seasons to take over from the likes of Drogba Terry and Lampard, we havnt and its now costing us big time, we are looking at thursday night european football next season at best at the moment. I hope the club bring in a few players in January and have a major overhaul in the summer, we need to be ruthless and say goodbye to 6-7 first team players.
Regards our policy on managers we need to stick with one and make sure he gets the tools he needs to get the job done. Whats the point in sacking manager after manager and not changing the team 7 of the team who started against Liverpool were there under Mouriniho. We should have been bringing in young players giving them some game time so they can bed in, we have not done this and it now shows.

i have a few questions.
1) what is your opinion on defensive mistakes that have been costing the team on the last three consecutive games?
2) Who among mireilles, mikel and ramires can fix the holding/defensive midfielder's role with less hiccups like what we saw today?
3) Can luiz play that position?
Todays game was good other than defensive errors.
