I've posted a few wishful signings on here but what I don't understand is all the players we are being linked with seem to be players of sarri s choice, yet under conte the board was clearly picking the players. why did we not just back conte at the beginning of last season.

I suppose the wing backs and big CF we were linked with last year were conte suggestions, or he manager says a certain type of player and then we have s look,

anyone know if Leicester are signing Danny Ward? frees up the opportunity for us to sign Schmeichel from them? he would be a decent replacement for tibo.

Kasper Schmeichel isn’t even close to Courtois. Kasper would be no2 at top 6/ 7 teams,

As I said in a recent post Sarri will try to build a spine of players he has previously worked with and understand his system, hence Rugani, Jorginho and Higuain. I think Luiz is exactly the type of player to fit Sarri teams so I expect him to be involved. Golovin is pretty much a done deal I think so just a keeper needed plus replacements for Hazard and Willian if they both go although RLC might get a chance further forward? Apparently Barklay is looking sharp as well but I would see him in midfield. Emerson at LB could happen. Getting interesting and I feel it is coming together nicely. Also succesfully applied for my community shield tickets Today for me, the wife and our son so happy days.

Glad we are going to 433. Hated last season's 3511.

Agreed mate. The 3 at the back is good as long as it is that- three defenders. However too often last season we saw 5 at the back with 2 holding midfielders, was quite shocking to watch. My only concern is that we don't really have the necessary full backs for 4 at the back anymore. I guess Azpi at RB but who plays LB?

IMO, from the little I've seen of Emerson, he's good enough to play the LB position.

I never watched Emerson before he joined us and I'll be honest I was so busy with work the last year that I hardly watched the few games that he did play for us. But heard a few good things! Guess Alonso and Emerson can fight it out for now and if needs be we can replace them in January or next summer! What about our back up RB? Not a fan of Zappacosta at all and don't think Moses will cut it at RB, though I'd still prefer him over Zappacosta and he's homegrown. going to be a very interesting few weeks.

Where Emerson has an advantage over Alonso is pace, Alonso is too slow. Both have good crosses and shot but Alonso has the advantage in the heading department. Against pacy teams we have to play Emerson especially if Hazard stays as we need to use the overlap more than we have done.

{Ed001's Note - I would say Emerson's main advantage is that he provides width, while Alonso spends most of the game pretending to be a centre forward.}

I think the next 3 weeks are going to turn crazy, on computer game level.
From a fans point of view I hope hazard stays but looking at a business point of view I think he will go for £150m+. I don't believe in the space of 12 months that the club can match hazards ambition which then leaves him down to one year of contract left and a possibility of no champions league again next season. Which then in turn takes £100m off his price tag.
Reports suggest Morata wants to return to Italy and we are on the lookout for a keeper so no brainer and go for Donnarumma who is already a great goalkeeper with the potential to be the best.
With Rugani apparently close I think the one in one out will be applied and Cahill or Luiz will be the one to make way.
A lot of reports linking Higuain so I'm guessing that one is also going to be done to replace the outgoing Morata. Personally I'd rather us go for Cavani or if hazard wants to go then use him for a deal with Barcelona for Suarez who is available at the right price but would he be interested in joining. I highly doubt it.
Golovin looked decent at the World Cup but other that that I've never watched him play but that looks another which is apparently close and could make sense price wise with Romans Russian connections. Again my choice would be Milinkovic-Savic and with Pedro being touted by Lazio to replace Anderson then a smaller fee plus Pedro would work.
Courtois for Donnarumma
Morata for Higuain
Pedro plus ££ for Milinkovic-Savic
Cahill or Luiz for Rugani
Hazard for £150m +
Bailey £50m
Golovin £30m
I wouldn't be surprised to see these deals happen and don't think we would be worse off so I can dream. Maybe living in a dream world but half of these deals are apparently already close.

@NWBLUE

I don’t think you’re a million miles away tbh.

If Donnarumma in / Morata out does happen, it’s more likely they will be independent deals as exchanges rarely happen.

For the life of me I can’t see Milinkovic-Savic joining.

Agree with the rest though.

NWBLUE; earlier into the transfer window, I read that Bayer Leverkusen rejected a bid of £50m+ from Bayern Munich for Leon Bailey, so it will take more than the amount of money that you mentioned in your post to sign Bailey from Leverkusen (I read 70-80m at the time) .

Anyone of Schmeichel or Donnaruma will be fine by me. Sky sports reported that Leicester bought a new goalie, I don't know if it's cos they want to sell Schmeichel.
Looks like Donnaruma's agent is Mino Raola (I don't know if it will have any effect to any deal for Donnaruma considering that Lukaku opted to go to ManUnited instead of Chelsea cos Chelsea didn't want to pay his hefty agent fee) .

I've been looking at our squad that's gone to Australia and, whilst there are players such as Drinkwater who porbably don't have a long term place in the squad, there are a couple of younger players that I'm really excited about. Both Kasey Palmer and Hudson-Odoi have an opportunity to really impress up Sarri just how good they are and, whilst Palmer may need an EPL loan, they should be in the long term plans of the club and save us a fortune moving forward.

What is it with Chelsea and centre backs? Heard a bid was rejected for another Juventus defender called Caldara (and we are still in talks for Rugani) .
Why aren't we looking at bringing in an attacking midfielder/ winger that can score goals?

I like Rugani I think he's a good player but 45m? Is he better than Christensen or Rudiger? No, not for me. I don't understand why we're spending that amount of money on someone who could be our 3rd choice centre back. Luiz could be used as 3rd choice CB as he fits the Sarri mould Si why waste money on Rugani? I like Zouma but he's not good enough on the ball and Cahill's finished he should be 4th choice CB at best. I wouldn't splash that amount on a CB unless it's going towards someone like Koulibaly.

What I'm getting at is why not use that money on our problematic RW position which hasn't been filled for years? Willian and Pedro ain't good enough, one should definitely be moved on. I'd go all out for Leon Bailey now before his price tag rockets up more next season. He's left footed something we don't have and he'd be perfect cutting in from the right. And his pace is sensational. I just think we're using the money in the wrong areas of the squad.

Maybe Chelsea don't want to miss out on a cb who could potentially double or triple up in value if he has 1 solid season at Juventus given his age. His rated very highly in Italy, hasn't put a foot wrong every time he has played. It's a safe risk in my opinion.

Chelsea should still be able to get Bailey if they wanted but probably deem him a risk.

Rugani knows the way Sarri wants to play ball. It looks as if Sarri is trying to get a spine of players who alreay know his style.

Rugani/ Jorghino/ Higuain all have played under Sarri before, and seem to have loved it. It makes sense for Sarri to have a number of players who understand his system, it'll make it bit easier for him to implement if other players can learn off these 3, what he wants to get from the team.

That's just my take on it.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Jul 2018 23:11:33
We've got to take into account the fact that it's such a short pre-season for Sarri. If he wants to introduce a new system (compared to our over-tried 3 at the back), then it's only natural he looks for players who are used to his management and style of play; hence Rugani.

Some reports claiming Madrid won't pay more than €120 for hazard. Good, we want him to stay! If we do decide to sell and don't get as much as or more than what was paid for Neymar, it'll be the worst bit of business since getting Maniche! Mbappe is a kid and is commanding £160m odd!

Wish we'd forget Higuain and go for Dybala. I also think Cillessen is a very underrated GK, I'd sooner him than Kasper.

Anyway rant over KTBFFH.
