Keep Costa or buy a new striker?

Sell him which they will. Too much trouble off the pitch and on it and becoming a one season wonder.

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of any "off pitch" issues with Diego Costa - where do you get this stuff - Twitter?}

I wouldn't call him a one season wonder he had a great season at Atletico before he joined us and he had a good season the year before that.

He's been poor and so have the rest of the team since the 5-3 loss to spurs.

I'm torn on this one to be honest. Whilst I'd like to keep Costa and see him scoring for us again, I can't help but feel his heart isn't in it anymore. His positioning this season has been poor and he seems very hesitant to shoot sometimes. Calling him a one season wonder is unfair though. He was instrumental in Atletico's best season in God knows how long and was one of the differences in the title race last season.

Both - remember that Costa was very successful playing deeper behind Falcao at Athletico.

I would not mind us playing with 2 strikes up top against lesser teams, with 3 defenders as we did versus norwich.

Hello guys, been posting really little recently. Anyway always read the site.

My question would be which players would you like us to sign in january? Realistic ones please.

I would love us to sign Stones even if he cost us 50 millions. He could become new terry!

Also would love us to go for a striker, benzema, higuain (even vardy)

For me three realistic targets that I would love to bring in in January are Griezmann, Marquinhos and Ruben Neves. All terrific players for both the present and the longterm.

None of them 3 are realistic in January. Only Teixeira is probably available.

If there is a on-going problem with Costa then I'm sure it would suit all parties if there was a deal involving a swap for greizman. Ideally I would like Costa to stay but the club is bigger than any player. I have only really watched stones closely since we played Everton early in the season and am very impressed with his maturity as a footballer, he plays very much like a continental centre back but with a very good positional sense also. If the Costa situation is a problem then aubameyang or higuain would be ideal replacements as I see greizman playing more behind the striker.

I'd absolutely love to sign Ruben Neves. The boy looks class! He was captain for Porto in the ucl last week and he's only 18. A long term partnership between him and our other ruben would be amazing. Wouldn't mind tielemans though either!
Tbh I doubt either would arrive in January but something could be done for the summer maybe.

{Ed002's Note - Porto's Ruben Neves will likely be subject to a January offer from Chelsea as interest grows from Manchester City, Arsenal, PSG and Real Madrid, with Real Madrid also likely to make a January offer. Porto has no interest in selling in Jnuary. Liverpool had scouts at a Porto match (against Maccabi Tel Aviv) - I don't know who they were looking at as several Porto players are attracting attention (Martins Indi, Brahimi and Neves). Asenal were present at the same match and against Dinamo Kyev and are interested in Neves - but are being scared off by the asking price.

Tielemans has attracted long-term interest from Chelsea with Atletico Madrid, Arsenal, Juventus, Napoli, Barcelona, Inter, Manchester United and Marseille all showing an interest in the past 9 months. Plenty of other sides will have had him scouted. Chelsea have actively been speaking with his club since January 2014 but would even now need to send him on loan for, I imagine, at least a year or more. Atletico spoke with Anderlecht this past summer and the player liked the idea of a move to Madrid but nothing could be resolved for a move at the time. The problem with a move to England is that he is certainly not ready to step right in to the first team at many of the more senior clubs. If he accepts that and a loan, then a move is possible. Whilst Barcelona, Arsenal and Chelsea may well all look to offers in January, a move before next summer is very unlikely. I also understand that Piero Ausilio attended the Spurs vs Anderlecht game to watch two players - Tielemans being one.}

Going from what the Eds have said of late it sounds like there's a good chance we'll bid in January for all three I mentioned.

I haven't seen Rubén Neven but everyone is raving about him and if he captained Porto at 18 he must be extremely talented! I would love to see Cavani but I can't help but feel that ship has sailed. Batshuayi seems to be having a very good season but I don't know much about him either. Griezmann would be amazing but it would be extremely hard in January I think. Stones is an absolute must for me, what an incredible player!

Batshuayi is a very promising striker. He's pretty strong and quick (a bit like Lukaku actually but not as big), but he's also good in close spaces with the ball at his feet.
Obviously he's having a good season at Marseille, and I think he'll end up at a big club some day. But I don't know if he's ready for the highest level right now. I think it'd be in his own best interest that he stays at Marseille a bit longer.
Definitely one to keep an eye on though!

If we're going to bid for anyone at Everton, I would prefer Ross Barkley to Stones.

I'd love Griezman but that's unlikely in jan. Otherwise I'd say Texeira, Neves and Marquinhos/Stones.

Good posts lads, and nice to see some movement in the forum as recently its been dead! I will try to pop some interesting questions from now and then. Back on the topic - if we would sell oscar this january I wouldn't mind us to try signing Mane from southampton, the boy is a class.

So the Club have submitted the planning application for the new stadium. Great to see the process moving along. I love the design. Its got a personality that those glass bowl grounds can't achieve. I know that opinions are divided, what do you all think of the proposed stadium?

I think it looks ok not sure whether I like the arches or not but I'm sure they will grow on me over time as we win more in the stadium and it becomes more iconic to our fans. I like how it allegedly increases the atmosphere and the fact we will be the only London club to remain at one stadium! I like how they've made transport easier too as it can be a nightmare leaving the ground sometimes. The only thing that really bugs me as that it will only be 60,000 I re wanted to just edge the capacity of the Emirates and Spurs new place to rub it in to them but oh well.

Whilst I like the design and the fact that it finally seems to be underway, there are some issues that I have with it. From what I've read a third of the new seats will be dedicated to hospitality (roughly 6000) with less than 1000 new seats for season ticket holders.

Morning Ed, any truth in chelsea's reported interest in Thomas Muller? Have a good day.
