I think that Lamps should stay if he accepts a role as a squad player/Giggs type role. I also think that Chelsea is waiting to see how Josh McEachran develops this season if he becomes the player we know he can be I don't think that Lamps will be offered a new contract, if he does get a new contract he will not start games.
If things don't go well for RDM, by January I can see Harry Redknapp becoming caretaker Manager until Pep decides to take over or Pep taking over.
January Ins
*A striker (Falcao Hopefully)
*Holding midfielder/Bull Dog/ Midfield general.
*CB (Jt type player, I know we have Cahill but we still lacking a traditional CB, Luiz and Cahill are great but they don't boss around the defence.)

Terry or lampard will not be dropped whilst RDM is the manager. He doesn't want to upset them. It's wrong though when they are not justifying their position in the team. I feel sorry for Cahill. He's probably our best centre half but doesnt get a look in.
I'm still baffled by RDMs fascination with bertrand in midfield.
If he wasn't going to start Mata tonight the 3 attacking mids should have been, Moses Oscar and hazard. Then Ramires should have replaced lampard. And romeu should be in the team instead of mikel but we know that's never going to happen.
Id like to see cesar at right back as well. Yh Ivanovic has scored a couple of goals this season but other than that I've not been impressed with him.

Torres was the only one who had a "bad" game, Hazard was very quiet tonight. Torres and Hazard especially hazard play well with Mata, Harzard lit up when Mata came on. Mikel had a bad game, just when I thought he had stopped his foolishness, Romeu should get a chance to play. Lamps played better but I still think he should play less, he gets forward but doesn't track back often enough. Oscar played well but lacked in his defence, but overall was very good.

RDM, again! Betrand for Ramires (poor sub) when we needed to increase our lead or hold on...Mikel again, (trying to get something out of nothing), Essien and Mireilles out Malouda and Mikel stays, strange!
A team with Hazard, Mata and Oscar and still can work the ball to Torres game after game from pre-season till now. We are outplayed game after game, against Man City and Athlectico we were like school boys. Some of us who are not managers could have done far better. RA go to be scouting for a manager now, we wish our usual Chelsea for too long....NAVY

The problem is not with Torres, we were alright going forward, considering we were up against the statistically best defense in Europe and we scored two goal (admittedly they were crackers) but at times we had them stretched across the back and looked good. The problem is, is that we lack control of the middle of the pitch. The reason why we don't boss the midfield is because we are playing two very slow players in the pivot. Tonight we saw the perfect example of a defensive midfielder in Vidal. Fast, can pick a pass and doesn't mess around! Plus he can score. Mikel can't do this. The reason why Essien was soo good in that position was because he can do all of the above, the simple fact is, is that Mikel can't. We have a Barcalona prodigy on the bench who plays this position and was excellent last season, yet he doesn't play.

Well, this game was very interesting. Firstly, I think the two goals scored by Oscar were just awesome. For a 20 year old to be that confident to strike from range against a goalkeeper like buffon is quite something.
Another point of interest was the formation and line up di matteo put forward. I have to say it brought more balance to the squad on paper however I couldn't help feeling some players were a bit out of their comfort. I do prefer an attacking midfield in our lineup. Oscar being in the team came as a surprise. If he was going to make his starting 11 debut I would have thought it would have been against QPR or a lower BPL team... Nonetheless he played very well.
I was even surprised matteo brought him off...
Torres was a bit quiet. Perhaps having the attacking confidence and flare of people like Oscar and hazard around him dampened down his attacking intent.
The central midfield is a bit of a problem and may be something for matteo to work on. Lampard, Mikel, Ramires. Interesting. We need a solid partnership going on here whoch is what we're lacking at this position. Something solid and withstanding.
I certainly feel we need to stop conceding goals to team which to be honest dint have much attacking flare like juventus.
Believable2
Unbelievable0
To be fair to Torres, we were playing against the best defense in Europe, which was proven by the fact that both our goals were from long range and pretty much unsave-able.
Agree1

Torres played well. He did a lot of ball chasing and generally worked very hard. It's not his fault not a single goal scoring chance was created form him.
Agree1

But that is his fault aswell because there was a few balls crossed in to the box and he was standing on the 18 yard line and not trying to get onto the end of the cross.

Plus side: We didnt lose. Bad side: Where do i begin? Bad team selection yet again, Mikel as ever was awful, Torres not doing enough to merrit his place as a lone striker. Wasteful passing and lack of fast creative football. Bertrand for Ramires?? That was a bad/negative sub, he is a left back not a midfielder. Luiz is not a center back and worries me in that role, Terry looks past it now. I was all for Robbie getting the job, thought he inspired the team last season but its clear now that he either isnt picking the team himself and going by team performance or he is too scared to drop players that think they are owed their place in the team. Its not looking good, leaking goals like mad and the warning signs were there in the pre-season tour, wont be suprised to see a new manager come in by January, maybe earlier?

How can the referee ignore the fouls on John Terry and Torres when the defenders were clearly holding and wrestling them. The first one was in the box and was definite penalty and the second one was probably right on the edge, but still could have been a dangerous free kick.
I mean good game but why bring on Bertrand for Ramires we let them have the ball.
Mikel ,well we all know, but he is till RDM'S favorite.
That front three of Oscar,Torres and Hazard was stunning at times well supported by Ramires.
The commentators as usual were shockers.
The refree was a shocker.
TAKE A BOW ,OSCAR, SIMPLY FABULOUS.
The boy can play anywhere in the midfield easily. We can easily see the difference when he came up.
Hope RDM plays those three along with Mata. That four will be fabulous.
I do not think there is a need for Mikel.Lampard can play there the ideal formation will be Mata, Oscar,Hazard.
JT was also at fault for the two goals. One he dive before the shot was hit and the other he tried to play offside and let the striker free.
We should have won that game.

What we seen tonight as everyone has been saying is that we are lacking in midfield. Frank has been brilliant for the club but he is not the player he was and cannot play the role expected at this stage of his career and well Mikel is Mikel. We bought all these creative players but didn't address that position in front of the back four with our system as it seems we are going to play this season. Lampard and Mikel just give the ball away far too often and don't have the legs, no pace.Ivanovic is not a natural right back and doesn't give us what Aziplcueto will going forward. Why doesn't Romeu get a chance. RDM please open your eyes and change the mid 2 and rb

Get rid of Mikel please. Two horrific mistakes in two games one nearly and one did lead to a goal. On the bright side, Torres was working hard, Oscar was awesome and hope he isn't injured for Saturday. Dream debut. Hazard needs to stay up on his feet more but should have had penalties. Luiz looke pretty comfortable but needs to stop diving in when opposition are getting shots. Very dissapointed we conceded twice from only two shots on goal. Should dive in less in those positions. Cech should have done better with the second goal though.
Can we have United's referee? He gave everything, should have had two penalties and that would have killed it off. First goal should have been closed down better, second goal was poor to concede. Still beat Norsjallend and Shaktar both times and I think we will be safe, regardless of what happens in Turin.

Very disappointing 2-2 is not good enough. when does RDM learn to play the right people its haunting me, maybe try sturridge because torres dosent seem to have it in him atm. First game Oscar played against a difficult opponents as a starter he scores the same ammount as Torres has done in what 5-6 matches? its simply just not good enough, even tho i really want him to get better but just seems like he aint.
RDM need to get he's rubbish together and stop playing bertrand as a winger, kick out lampard instead hes not doing a good job at what he is doing. we have Mosses sitting on the bench a f*cking winger and yet he wanna play with 7 defending people... no wonder we wil get kicked out in the first game after group round.

If we play with Bertrand and Ramires on the wings then we are just inviting juventus to come and attack us. Juventus have a great defence and midfield, but lack good wingers and a striker. Therefore no need to double up on the wings. Oscar should definitely start along with hazard and,if fit , mata. If mata is not fit moses. Never seen Fellani play DM, he plays AM for Everton. I wud suspect he wud be just as crap as Mikel in that position. I may be wrong. DJ

I'm suspect about Fellaini. To start yes he will be available but the price will be massive. Everton payed £15m and I suspect they will want in the region of 25 for him now. Beyond that he hasn't played in a defensive role for some time. He plays in the hole this year and has been box to box for most of the previous years. We need someone to match up with rami who is box to box meaning we need a guy that sits back. With that said M'Vila is the perfect fit besides his attitude questions. He's only gonna cost £15m and his preferred position is the holding role. In my opinion M'Vila makes more sense.

For 25m there must be gd DM we can get, couple gd ones in France, axel witsel depending how unhappy he is after his move to zenit, {Ed002's Note - Why would Witsel be unhappy?}

Josh alongside Ramiries next season with Hazard Mata/Oscar and Marin/Moses in front of them, guile, pace, ball retention, trickery..awesome

Cos he will realise he can be playing for top team in Europe and top league n what mistake it was going for money

hey ed002,this one is specially for you...now that everything is over,don't you think that luca modric would have been the best possible replacement for the position in which lampard is being played right now?? {Ed002's Note - No.}

Essien looked brilliant last night for a guy that hasn't been playing football for a year now wish we kept him i think having him in a deeper role alongside Ramires would've really been beautiful!
IF he stayed:
Cech
Ivanovic*Cahill*Terry*Cole
Ramires*Essien
Hazard*Oscar*Mata
Torres
would anyone have had a more balance team than that in the EPL?I doubt it...
Views please?

I begged for RDM to play him but he never did. Hands down he was the best midfielder this preseason.

Cech.
Ivanovic. Luiz. Terry. Bertrand.
Lamps. Fellaini.
Oscar. Mata. Hazard.
Falcao.
Sell A$hley to PSG and Torres back to the Scousers if they'll take him or include him in the Falcao deal which would see him where he came from in the first place.

Dont ever call Ashley 'A$hley' and expect to be liked by other Chelsea fans. Go join the Arsenal bandwagon if thats how you see him.

Ashley has won bigger n more titles here than he did at arsenal
face it, arsenal never gonna win the CL.
so he left arsenal to join a team with more ambition and who can afford the best players...so that tag cashley is really senseless...same goes for nasri, rvp etc
