So it seems that we will go all out to sign John Stones from Everton. The asking price they have set is actually at £29m - the money we received for Lukaku.

Jose has come out and said that he wants to sign one more player (to complete the squad) but hasn't dismissed the idea of signing more should an opportunity come up to sell the players who request to leave. With that being Salah, Luis, Remy. I understand that Jose will look more to the youth set up rather then go out and spend big on players now and in the future. Which is a good idea as we do have some cracking young players.

ACR, how do you know the asking price is £29m?

t.k A good assessment of the midfield issue and I agree with you and the Fabregas/Oscar failings but Witzel is no more than competent and Chelsea are beyond that stage and to buy him seems a total waste of money. I have never been a fan of Ramires and poor Mikel reads the game well but passes sideways all the time and offers absolutely nothing attack wise and Witzel will bring a little improvement. I am sure there are far better options we could look at but if this is an Abramovich pick then there is probably little that can be done.

So, was surfing some of the other pages. And saw a comment from Ed002. Ed states that we shouldn't believe what Mourinho says. Honestly, we should know that by now haha :-)
Ed also said that Chelsea has agreed the moves for 6 players. I'm assuming these are going to be outgoing players for the most part. But it's probably safe to say that we can expect some further movement still. Don't despair, lads!

Jose says one new signing only and that is a defender to keep the balance of the squad. Stones? He then said we shall only replace players who leave as has happened with Drogba and Cech. He made it clear Salah not part of current squad. Hence, Luis, Mikel, Moses, Cuaudrado (probably not) and Remy positions might be open if they pursue moves. I personally think Luis, Remy and Moses might leave. I think Cuardrado will stay and I'm 50/50 on Mikel. Getting interesting and while Jose often 'says things' you can usually work out what he means.

I also think Cuad will stay. He changed his number from 23 to 11, and that probably wouldn't have happened if he was planning to leave.

Interviewed on ssn Mourinho has said that Chelsea are NOT interested in Pedro. thankfully.

Don't always listen to what Mourinho says in press.

There's a lot of players Mourinho has said in the past we r not interested at then we have gone on to buy.

. as above, do you hang on every word he says in the press?!

I think we will go after Pedro (don't understand the negativity towards him) - I also expect Rahman in, Luis out - Witsel in, Mikel out - Remy out - John Stones in (if Everton agree a fee).

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - can I ask, why do you rate Pedro? I understand the negativity towards him, as I have watched him many times and do not rate him at all. What I don't understand is the positivity about him, so I would like to know what you see in him, I would like to know what I am missing when I watch him.}

20 Jul 2015 11:25:23
Ed I'm surprised you don't rate him. Pedro is a fine attacking player that can play anywhere across the front 3 he has A great goal' scoring recordd at both club and international level considering he is not always a starter, he is one of only 2 players that scored for Barca in 6 competitions messi being the other. He is very highly decorated in terms of medals, IMO you don't play the amount of games and score the amount of goals he does from predominantly a wide position for both Barca and Spain arguably the best clubside in the world and Spain the best international side in the world at that time if you are simply no good.
I think he would add a lot of value to any top 4 team in the epl

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - define the word fine with respect to Pedro. His touch is poor, but he has pace. He is not good on the ball, but he plays for the most creative team in football, so it is hardly a big thing to score goals for them, especially when he is only usually coming on when the opposition is tired. I don't care about how many goals he scored or medals he has won anyway, that is a pointless argument. I want to know why he is a good player, not how good is Barcelona, which is all you have told us. There is a reason why Barca have been trying to offload him for years, and have never seen him as being anywhere near good enough for them.}

20 Jul 2015 19:42:04
Hi ed, I don't think his touch is poor in fact his running with but more importantly his running off the ball is of a very high standard he can play off either wing he Is 2 footed and has a better technique than many that ply their trade on the epl and while I don't think he is in the very top group of players at 18 million with his experience know how and qualities I think it represents good value in comparison to let's say cuadrado lallana navas Valencia who all cost more at top clubs and I think he would out perform all these.
Not quite 1st choice but with his versatility he woulg get his quota of games and make a valuable contribution as he has done with Barcelona and Spain , in particular Spain as that manager does not have to include him at all.

Just like I said about Sanchez, Chelsea would regret letting Pedro join United. Except we hope to sign Griezman, Chelsea should go all out for pedro as he as he can offer us the right width we all want. Again we need a CM that can partner Matic as I feel Fabregas was. Our weaklink in there last season esp in big games, not undermining his contributions.we need a Lampard. your thoghts won't hurt fellas. Blues all day

Reports of Witsel are doing the rounds again. If we want a more robust midfield for the big games, then I think Witsel-Matic could definitely do the trick. He'd be a good addition. But I suppose it's still going to be Aranguiz instead of him.
Pedro would be a good addition, but without someone leaving I just don't see how Mourinho would manage to give everyone time on the pitch. Pedro in, Cuad out would be a good solution.

19 Jul 2015 17:18:43
I think we are clutching at straws now. At the end of the season I doubt many, if any, would have included Pedro or Witsel in our list of must haves. To me neither will add any value whatsoever although if the latter does join that is coming from RA not Mourinho. Mourinho has criticised some of the transfers especially the prices paid but also referred to us and a marquee player and those two definitely don't fit the bill.

19 Jul 2015 21:12:00
As Ed has clarified, clubs will usually have a list of suitable players. these are worked through should certain targets not be attainable.

As I mentioned earlier in the week, it's very easy spending virtual money and recruiting players in your head. for me, IF Witsel and Pedro are signed they will improve upon what we have in the terms of making the squad competitive. Sure, I'd love us to sign Varane, Pogba and Bale but you have to be realistic too.

I'm not sure I agree with these posts - if you want to buy a player it's probably not a good idea to piss-off the selling team and manager.

I am worried how this window is playing out we do not seem to be looking to players who will improve the starting lineup. Gotze, lacazette, pogba, isco, lewandowski would improve it but we seem to not be interested or not willing to pay the price while it looks like other teams in our League are prepared to. We need more goals ad a team from midfield so need a upgrade on rw and acm urgently as well as a top striker to challenge diego.

Relax, 44 days to go and your observations regarding the players, like all of us, are correct but we are not going to be interested a) in everyone that appears for sale regardless of our name being mentioned and b) NOBODY at Chelsea is going to listen to who we think they should buy. Mourinho gives little away and those above him, absolutely nothing. I doubt very much if we will be disappointed but many names thrown up on this board will not be considered so we will just have to sit and suffer until they announce Pogba/Bale or Griezmann.Phew, gone out on a limb there!

Welshie. That is the second time you have made that comment therefore could you give one sensible reason why I would submit a comment and then 'like' my own comment? I thought the idea was to submit, get agreed with or disagreed with or create a topic of conversation and I am more than capable of defending myself against dislikes or criticism.

Hazard: I totally agree with your comment and that is what let's him down. Lovely skills and work rate but does not appear to have the required physicality and I do not subscribe to the theory 'he was too tired' last season. I do think the spotlight will be on him until Christmas and I am sure we all hope he succeeds. It was a similar situation with Juan Mata, who I really enjoyed watching, but he did not last 90 minutes and could not track back and was always going to slip down Mourinho's pecking order. As much as I enjoy watching him, he is pretty much the same at Manchester United and I think it might be his last year there.

Agree1 Disagree3

19 Jul 2015 09:29:20
I feel the issues with Oscar has been around tiredness. I don't believe he is under pressure for the first half of the season, as IMO he is good before Xmas. Where he needs to perform is the second half of the season as he has faded each year. I do believe this is down to all the travelling he does with brazil, playing a lot of meaningless friendliest.
