I have a feeling I may be alone in saying this but am I the only one who doesn't want Ramires to move on? Granted he hasn't be at his best of late but obviously with the fact he isn't playing more regular then that's understandable! When he was playing week in week out he was top class, his work rate is as good as any he chips in with a few goals and get back when needed! Hate seeing him wasted on the wing. I'd be interested to see him play with matic more regularly and push faberagas up. I think we as fans (myself included) can be fickle at times, we need to remember how good he actually was. Not saying we don't need to add to our midfield but we have a great asset in Ramires that is currently being wasted and its such a shame

In my honest opinion I don't think Ramires offers anything other than his stamina to the team. His passing is poor, rash tackling and is not a holding player which is what Jose at times has tried to use him as. He's also certainly not a right winger. I believe he could do a job in a three man midfield but I don't think he's good enough to be a starter for Chelsea. I will support any Chelsea player but he can be frustrating to watch at times.

18 Aug 2015 21:42:25
You're right, he was good. But it's been a couple of seasons since he was actually good. Since that goal against Barcelona he's been steadily regressing. I don't see what he adds these days. He was non existant against City.
I'll never call our players trash or garbage etc. But he just doesn't add enough right now. If I could sell him then I would. Mourinho seems to be his biggest fan though so I think you'll keep seeing him in blue.

Agree4 Disagree3

18 Aug 2015 23:27:08
Personally think it's time for him to move on. And Mikel for that sake. They just haven't showed anything last 2-3 years , and we need an improvement imo

19 Aug 2015 07:02:54
Ramires brings nothing to the team.

Ed018, why do we seem to be out of the running for pedro? Ready made for chelsea, not a bad price and if man u get him I think they will win the prem, we are going to be lucky to make 4th, arsenal, man c, man u are playing much better and I think everton or spurs may be fighting us for that 4th if we don't sort out that area.

Believable1 Unbelievable2

{Ed018's Note - they chose not to move for him}

18 Aug 2015 22:25:55
Last minute rumours reckon we could be going in for him any truth?

Let's keep this page interesting eh?

We apparently want to bring around 3 players in a CB, a CM and a RW. Who would your three be?

Mine are Stones, Witsel and Griezmann/Isco, I think Isco has the pace and creativity to play RW.

Don't be too unrealistic guys, thanks.

18 Aug 2015 20:33:15
Laporte/Rugani, Song (loan move, and then try to get Andre Gomes next summer) and Griezmann/Isco/Lacazette.

Agree0 Disagree2

18 Aug 2015 20:35:00
Stones, Witsel and Griezman would be perfect. Lacazette is a powerful player but IMO he will not leave OL.Also Griezman became extremely expensive. We have plenty so called wingers Hazard, Willian, Moses, Cuadrado, Traore.

Stones
Henderson

If you want to make it interesting you should name players we haven't been linked with in them positions?

Agree0 Disagree3

18 Aug 2015 21:18:23
Gotze, isco and varane

Agree0 Disagree2

18 Aug 2015 21:43:09
Playing Isco out wide is what's wrong with the balance of the team at the minute. He's better as a central player and we are already trying to accommodate central players in wide positions. Before city got him I would of said otemendi or varane. Out wide greizman or reus.

Agree2 Disagree1

18 Aug 2015 21:50:28
Varane/Laporte, Thiago alcantara, griezmann

Agree1 Disagree1

18 Aug 2015 22:17:01
Gotze isco and hazard would be amazing as a 3 behind a striker they are all intelligent and gifted enough to play In all the positions and defenders would not know who to man mark as any of them can easily take on players. I think try Willian or Oscar next to matic as I do think they are good players but just don't do enough to be classed as an "attacking" player.

Agree0 Disagree0

19 Aug 2015 08:26:15
I'd go for Stones, Javi Martinez (pipe dream I know) and Pedro.

Gaitan

18 Aug 2015 18:28:20
What do people think about Oscar playing next to Matic in the future? There's been talk about it for a while. He's definitely quicker and has a better work rate so it would be interesting to see how it would go.

Fabregas isn't bringing it right now so I wouldn't be opposed to trying something else.

Yeah don't see why not, all players in joses team are expected to carry out defensive duties.

Ed002, please is there any chance at all that you will enlighten us with any Chelsea transfer news? Do we really want 3 players more to come in?

Thanks in advance.

Hey guys, what do you guys make of Ivanovic's poor poor form? I never thought he was great last year and have never seen him as a right back personally

Hoping Baba Rahmann can make the step up and we can bring more balance to our side with players in there natural position

Also hope Matic can get a partner, I would be willing to sell both Ramires and Mikel in Order to get one strong CDM and then use the youth + Zouma as 4th choice centre mid!

I also hope Stones is brought in :)

Thanks guys :)

Read what Carrager said about Man.City game.

18 Aug 2015 15:47:40
Ivanovic has to step it up or he should sit out a game or 2 if Rahman is up to it. And certainly, selling Ramires and Mikel in order to get a good option in midfield would be godly. Don't think it'll happen though. And I'd rather wait another year or so than buy a 5th choice player now.

Agree0 Disagree3

18 Aug 2015 18:32:26
Leave it to Mourinho.

Agree1 Disagree0

18 Aug 2015 20:20:25
Ivanovic has always been consistently ok, like mikel, ramires, we need better than that. We need someone who is going to play a blinder every few games

18 Aug 2015 10:59:15
Can you see any realistic signings coming in this window ed? do you know who it could be and who we're interested in?

Believable1 Unbelievable1

{Ed018's Note - yea they would still like to add another attacking player or two along with Stones}

18 Aug 2015 20:48:21
Ed018 I really love your input but that's not going to happen, stones maybe, 2 more attacking players never, they need time to fit in, mourinho isn't like that in the transfer market either

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Aug 2015 11:50:24
If where are about to bid £35m for stones after he had one good season, surely going after varane who is the best young defender out there would cost similar amount.

Believable0 Unbelievable3

18 Aug 2015 14:32:24
Real Madrid is not selling Varane.

Agree2 Disagree2

18 Aug 2015 15:43:24
Every player has a price. If we sign players as competition for places instead of having an attitude of if he gets injured you will play then we would have a stronger squad. The first 11 know they will play every week regardless of performance. We won the league last year and started great as there was a buzz about the place because we signed quality players.

Agree0 Disagree1

18 Aug 2015 15:48:52
Laporte! Or Süle, Mustafi has been mentioned by posters (or was that just me? :P ) and another name I had forgotten about is Gimenez of Atletico. The guy is an absolute stud!

Agree0 Disagree1

18 Aug 2015 16:29:39
Had the same thought the other day NWBLUE. I can't remember who, but someone posted about Stones being signed next year already, and I wondered why we'd do that when Varane is clearly our preferred choice.

It doesn't exactly seem like Everton is selling Stones either, Antibot, so not sure how valid that comment was.

Agree0 Disagree1

18 Aug 2015 18:34:27
It concerns only Varane and has nothing to dn with Stones.

18 Aug 2015 11:07:50
Am I the only one here that doesn't want Isco or Gotze or pedro. I just feel that we don't real need a central attacking midfielder t the moment as we would be getting congested in that area and Oscar didn't perform badly against Swansea. I just don't feel gotze and Isco would add much to the team. I also feel that pedro is a good player but wouldn't be a big improvement on Willian in all honesty. I know everyone thinks we can't get Griezmann and they're probably right but I just feel we need somebody who is really classy to fill in the rw position to give everyone a boost and make our attack deadly from all angles.

Believable2 Unbelievable5

18 Aug 2015 11:45:20
Yes you are the only 1 both Isco and Gotze would be a huge upgrade on all our attacking midfielders bar hazard.

Agree2 Disagree4

18 Aug 2015 13:07:05
They'd be an upgrade but I don feel we need a player in that position as we are lacking width which those two don't re offer us

Agree0 Disagree1

18 Aug 2015 15:15:18
I completely agree on Pedro, not the others. You have to realise positions mean very little in todays game unless you are defending. While attacking most teams have interchangable players who switch during the game.

Agree2 Disagree3

18 Aug 2015 09:49:18
What are people's (Ed and posters) opinions on today's rumours. Stones, Donsah and Greizmann will apparently be the centre back, centre midfielder and winger targeted, and authorised by Abramovic, by the end of the window.

1) Chelsea must have had enough dialogue with Everton by now to know the financial package they'll accept. There should either be a final, probably huge, offer that's accepted or another player targeted.

2) Donsah - I know nothing of this player other than the fact he's called the new Essien. If he's half that good then - happy days, but I HATE it when players are referred to as "the new".

3) Papers are saying we'll offer £21m for Greizmann a player who has just signed a new contract with a huge buy out clause. Why would we offer under what Atletico payed for him last year and less what his buy out clause was before the new contract.

Believable2 Unbelievable4

18 Aug 2015 11:44:44
I don't think there's anything in the Griezmann rumours. We won't be getting him. Offering such a low amount wouldn't accomplish anything.

Agree0 Disagree3

17 Aug 2015 21:40:26
Do you have any news on Otamendi Ed? Apparently there's been a twist since yesterday because man city were happy with Mangala's performance. If we couldn't get Stones I'd like to see us get him.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

18 Aug 2015 09:46:27
Rangers fan here rumour is we may get young john swift on a loan deal anybody know what type of player he is?

Believable0 Unbelievable1

18 Aug 2015 09:59:11
a good one. IMO too good for a lower league Scottish team. surely if we are loaning to Scotland it should be the SPL. Caley, hearts or Aberdeen? Celtic are obviously overloaded with players in his position. like scott allen;) boyhood rangers fan lololol

Agree0 Disagree1

18 Aug 2015 00:37:01
If there's any truth in Everton wanting 40 million for Stones that is a joke as much as I'd like him here. Otamendi was the best defender in La Liga last season and he's available, we should go for him. Rumour has it that Valencia wanted 28.4 million and Mangala on loan for the season. Why don't we try to broker a deal and send Zouma there to gain experience at a club where he'll be playing champions league? Otamendi is a powerhouse not to mention he's very fast for a CB and pops up with goals too. Thoughts?

Believable4 Unbelievable2

18 Aug 2015 04:46:20
Keep Zouma, ditch Cahill and sign Otamendi could possibly be a better option .

Agree3 Disagree2

18 Aug 2015 06:06:09
Yeh I wouldn't get rid of Zouma. With the defence playing the way they are, I think there's a good chance he will get a fair few minutes this year, which would be far better for his development than a loan.

Agree3 Disagree2

18 Aug 2015 07:28:05
Pay £35 mil for stones , he'll be here for 10+ years , works out to be a cheap deal.

Agree3 Disagree3

18 Aug 2015 08:33:04
I think I would still pay the money for Stones - we need an English spine and, from what people in the game are saying, he's the brightest English prospect around.

Agree0 Disagree3

18 Aug 2015 09:41:43
Go for Laporte instead. If you're going to spend a boatload on a young defender, make sure it's the best talent available.

Agree1 Disagree2

18 Aug 2015 10:10:02
Now the pre-season media rumours have died the death the comments are now homing in on good ideas. No, Stones cannot be worth £35-£40m at his age but he's English, young and amortize that figure over a good ten years out of him and it makes sense. I see no reason on earth why Zouma would be sent on loan as opportunities for him must be increasing weekly. With his two poor performances and the rumours it could be reasonable to think Ivanovic will be on his way. Cahill I think has never really won Mourinho over and he relies on Terry to organise him which makes Nicolas Otamendi a sensible target, one of the few thrown around that appeals to me, if we do not get Stones. With Azi possibly switching, Rahman coming in on the left and Terry co-ordinating the central players whoever they are, we will have the increased mobility we need. Interested in any comments regarding Terry as I think he has at least one more good year in him; never the quickest but reads the game well and Saturday was being pulled all over the place covering and I think subjected to a tactical sub to make a point.
