Very scrappy performance at home against a poor Hull City side. Not good enough IMO.
I Am Basics. {Ed018's Note - first half was good, second half turned into a training session. A poor one at that}

First game of the season, 3 points, clean sheet what's there to complain about. The first 20-30 mins were outstanding for the first game back.

Jose didn't want to embarrass then after the first 35 minutes.

We played magical football in the first half.
2nd half they came back and we cruised due to lack of match fitness.
It was a typical Jose win.
3 points and much much better to come.
After one game to criticise a victory is laughable.
Go support arsenal.

This was the sort of match that we weren't getting three points from last season, so an improvement in my book!

Dunno what game you were watching .the game was over at half time with some of the best football chelsea have played for a very long time. Second half we could have gone up at least 3 gears. So long as we beat what's in front of us who cares.

Why is Lampard starting :( need V Ginkles athleticism in the middle in my opinion.

I agree, but its a squad game and against better opposition lampard won't be playing in the deep mid posistion as we will get ripped apart.

How? He scored a freekick which was hit lovely but keeper should have done better. Missed a penalty and doesn't have the athleticism of V Ginkle.

Personally I think it was the perfect match to play Lampard in.

Against one of the weakest teams in the division where his lack of athleticism won't be exploited, keeping Lamps happy as well.

Agree Jordan, especially with a match Wednesday against Villa who ripped apart gooners, I think or at least hope that Van Ginkel or Essien get the start next to Rami.

Van ginkle is a very young player in a new country. We have a tough couple of opening months with fixtures, I expect van ginkle will be used sparingly at first and be slowly integrated, come the 2nd half of the season he could well be a regular. In the mean time the more experienced players will be used.

^^^ same argument they tried to have about oscar. MVG is a professional, he will be fine. Lampard doesn't do anything for the 'team' just plays backwards and slows down the game. scores the odd goal or two but otherwise is a burden.

Same rubbish was said last season about Hazard and Oscar, Van Ginkel can either play or he can't.

Er. Still one of the best midfielders around could be the reason. Mupp.
