Would anyone give van Ginkel a go next year if we can't sign Pogba/Gomes/Koke? He's starting to prove his fitness and show some of his ability with Milan now that his injuries cleared up and most Milan fans seem to want to sign him permanently now. We've been linked with Khedira again and I much prefer Van Ginkel fully fit than him. He's much better defensively too. Let me know your thoughts chaps?

Good post mate, I completely forgot about Van Ginkel. Would take him over Mikel any time of the day even though I haven't seen him play lately (but you can't be worse than mikel anyway). Moving back to the point if I would give him a shot at the first team next year? My answer wouls be yes as I still believe he has a great future

Good idea Welsh but in all honesty a better idea would be getting one of them and he's van Ginkel take Ramires' spot.

Hell yeah! Why not. We've gotten rid of too many players well too early. Van ginkel is a great midfielder great passing range and scores goals from midfield.

If we can't sign one of those 3, then yeah I'd like to see him given a shot. I think he'd already be an upgrade over Ramires so he could perhaps replace him in the squad.
That said, we need a new option in central midfield. Rotation is key, but there shouldn't be a massive drop in quality when Mourinho does rotate.

Hi Ed002 et al!

Long overdue registration as I visit this site regularly, mainly for Chelsea rumours as Rangers news is a little sparse. How you manage it is beyond me based on the incessant badgering over the same questions!

I used the search option, but apart from a little discussion between fans, couldn't find an answer, so here goes:

Do Chelsea have any first team plans, or senior squad plans, for any of the current promising young players? Mourinho was quoted in the past as saying (re Lewis Baker) "If he is not playing regular international football in the coming years I will blame myself". I know we have to be mindful of Financial Fair play, so I figured adding 2-3 promising youths, 2 quality players (Striker and DM for me) and off loading all the planed offloads would put us in good shape.

I will neither pester you with repeat questions, or demand an immediate reply. I realise you are less privvy to the youth goings-on!

{Ed002's Note - Chelsea will look to bring through youngsters as and when they are ready. There is no specific plan for each of them - but some will go on loan to get experience, some will be sold and some will be let go.}

Utd look like they'll have to play a makeshift back four and Rooney as a DM?

Do not underestimate Manchester United!
Rooney already played some games as CM and he was really good.
Our hope relies on their poor defence!

We definitely can't underestimate them. It'll be a tough game, with or without their (apparently) injured players. I fear Di Maria coming in again and playing a fantastic game, or perhaps Falcao coming in and playing like he used to do before the injury.
Rooney in midfield is far from ideal for them though. Carrick sets the tempo when he plays and is very intelligent, I don't believe Rooney can replicate what he brings to that team.

We have to pull Rooney all over the place and I think Fabregas will be in the hole and he thrives in running into spaces. We just can't allow fellaini to boss the game and our wingers have to protect fullbacks and prevent the fullbacks having to deal with two attackers at a time.

If we play sillyl 5 yard passes around their box we will lose. Need willian I run I. Behind their defence and not within a yard of Ivanovic.

I hope we batter Man united , there's not a worse team in football, hate them with passion.

I wouldn't call them the worst team haha, but I definitely don't like them. Also my brother's a United fan and it'd be horrible to have him shove it in my face if they win. Can't let that happen :-P
We just can't let them win. Otherwise there might still be some title aspirations and the extra pressure wouldn't help us for the last games this season. We can't lose, a draw's acceptable though IMO.

Agree with you Aron, I just hate Manchester United so much it is turning into passion. I just can't stand them so much that I even support Tottenham when they play against them (or liverpool who I hate as much as ManUtd) and that's tells a lot :D

I hate Liverpool more than Utd. They were just so arrogant last year and they're always the ones harping on about history.

Patrick Bamford is one of the three nominees for the Player of the Year Award in the Championship

Isn't he nominated for the Young Player of the Year Award in the Championship? If it's truly the Player of the Year Award then it's quite remarkable :)
He's had a great season so far and it'd be fantastic if he could top it off by helping Boro to promotion.

If Middlesborough go up, I would lik him to stay there and build some PL experience. Anyway if they fail to reach PL, I really wouldn't mind him staying with us as 3rd striker. With Costa's injuries he would definatelly have a lot of chances and maybe would become our own Harry Kane

Sorry, KTBFFH, you were right. Just saw that Bamford is nominated for both the Player and Young Player of the Year Award. Amazing accomplishment for him, he's grown a lot as a player this season.
